Just wanted to be the first poster in the Decorating forum!!! :p I will for sure be hanging out in this place the majority of the time. My husband and I just put an offer on a house last night so we should hear by tomorrow night/Monday morning if we got it. I'm not gettin our hopes up however since it's a pretty tight market here. Anyway, just saying 'hi'!

Good luck Ivansbabe!

We've just started looking for houses so hopefully we'll have one in the next couple months!

Good luck Ivansbabe!

We bought our house last year and we're still working on decorating and changing out the post-college furniture.

Good luck ivansbabe and juliemag! Gosh, today is our one year anniversary that we've been in our house!

Of course decorating/remodeling is a work in progress, so I'll be checking back here for ideas. :)

Good luck with the offer! DH and I have been talking about buying a house for a few months. But the market in CA is just outrageous. We go from being hopeful to being extremely depressed on a daily basis. I'm in my hopeful phase right now, so I'll follow along and check out everyone's decorating ideas.

chefker ~ Happy one year anniversary in your house! :)

umwhee ~ I'm right with you. Our market isn't terrible, but it's tough to find what we want in our budget. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Congrats Ivansbabe! We just moved into a new house too, so I'm also obsessed with looking at home ideas.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! It may have worked because we just found out that our offer was accepted!!! Now for the scary part....inspection/escrow/closing, etc. I mean I'm very excited but this is our first house and we only have an idea of what to expect so I hope it is fairly painless. Anyway, just thought I'd share :)

I’m so upset. I guess I spoke too soon. Even though the selling agent contacted our agent last night saying our offer was accepted with a change that our inspection was to be within three days instead of five, they’re now waiting to receive more offers today so we’re back to square one. I’m so beyond angry at these turn of events I just don’t know what to do. I mean, who tells someone they have the house and then basically takes it back the next day?! According to our agent the seller seemed really decent, but now I don’t know what to think. Is there anything we can do? I don’t think there is because our agent hasn’t said anything except that we’ll just have to wait for sometime today to hear back. Now I know we won’t get it, it seemed too easy.

ivansbabe...that really sucks for you guys! But, I don't know if it's necessarily back to square one. We just sold our house (closed two weeks ago) When we got an offer, we accepted it...but the realtor kept the house on the market until we got the offer signed and ernest money. So maybe that's what they are doing. Just be sure to get your agent to be completely honest with you about what's going on and why and how it could affect you. Agents are not the most trustworthy or honest people, so just make sure you feel comfortable with the explanations!

I really hope everything works out for you!

We are closing on our house on Thursday, so I will be posting here to!

ivansbabe - So sorry! While going through the process on the house we are buying, we found that both realtors, ours and theirs, played lots of games like this. Their realtor wasn't going to stop showing the house until he got a letter from our bank saying that our mortgage loan app was in process. And we already had signed contracts! Good luck!

I so appreciated the sympathy you guys :) , but the sellers decided to actually take the morale high ground and accept our offer after all! I guess an offer came in just minutes after they accepted our offer (for the first time) that was better and the wife of the couple wanted to go for the higher priced offer but the selling agent was really an advocate for us. It's just crazy how this can all be. So we're supposedly going to close mid July...doesn't give us much time. Oh well...let's get on the ride again. I'm scared, LOL. Now back to decorating, that's what this forum is all about anyway!
