Did anyone see this tonight? Pretty funny!! I love when the actors struggle to keep a straight face.
I kind of wish there were more than one judge. Guess I'm used to panel of judges on these shows.
I'm looking forward to the Jason Alexander next week!

I'm so glad you started this thread. I was hoping someone else or others watched this show. It was so funny. I laughed out loud so many times especially at the first show. Improv comedy is the best and to have these actors doing it makes it even better.
I also wish there was more than one judge. I wonder why they just have one and not a small panel of maybe 3.
Next week's show looks like it's gonna be really good. :)
eta: Brian Cranston was hilarious during the super hero skit. I thought I was going to die from laughing so hard.

Brian Cranston - yeah, totally freaking hilarious!
Adaya, do you think you could do improv like that?? I'm a drama queen, so I would SOOO do it!

I'm so glad you started this thread! Hubby and I are huge, huge improv fans (did I mention huge?) and we were so excited to have a new improv show to watch.
I'm still giggling today about the jokes last night. ("Did you pack this bag?" "I packed it gooood." - the skit with the customs agent had me on the floor.)
We'll definitely be tuning in weekly - I hope the show does well. I love the concept.
Who is on next week? I fell asleep during the last couple of minutes of the show, and didn't see if there was a preview.

My DH just about lost it at the chant in the mummy's tomb... "Mummys suck at everything! You stink and you smell and you look ridiculous!"
I also thought Brian Cranston was flipping hysterical.

Are they going to replay last night's episodes? My BF wanted to see it but we didn't realize it was on. He took the whole training course at Second City so this is right up his alley.

I love that he stayed in character the entire time - before he walked through the door, and after the skit was over. He didn't miss a beat!

I totally think I could do it! I've actually been toying with joining this improv training group that let's you practice each week and depending on how well you do each week, you may get a chance to perform in a show. I just can't get my schedule worked out. I'm DYING to do it.
eta: I just checked the NBC website using the link in the first post, and you can watch the episodes there. I'm gonna go watch the first one again. Hee Hee :D

I know you are not in Chicago but for anyone who happens to be there is Second City and Improv Olympic that has training courses.

I loved these first two episodes. Everyone did such a good job! My favorite part is the final scene with all the actors. Both of them so far were so freaking hilarious. Bryan Cranston was truly hilarious in the first episode, and it killed me when Wayne Knight lost his superhero pants. I really thought Bryan Cranston and Joe McHale were neck and neck until that scene. Mo'Nique was awesome during the second show.
If you missed it, you can watch the episodes on the NBC website.
I hope this show makes it! :)

They played it right after the first one. Hopefully they'll put that one up, too, at some point.
According to my DVR guide, they are playing an episode on Wednesday night next week in addition to Monday night. Just wanted to give you all that heads up. :)

Anybody watching tonight? It is sooo funny so far. :D
I really like this show. I have the utmost respect for anyone who can do improv well. I certainly couldn't!
Here are full episodes: http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full_episodes/index.shtml?show=thankgod
I thought Jane Lynch was fabulous in last night's show.
The one point of "eh" I have is David Allen Grier's hosting and the "judging". There are only so many times you can hear "very funny", "very good". Well yeah. No one would appear if they thought Dave Foley was going to say "you sucked". I wish they just had Grier as a regular cast member and had Dave Foley as host/running the show.

I agree completely. The "judging" annoys me because it's just so lame. What'shisname won last night for naming a bunch of Canadian prime ministers?! Come on! ;) :)
It was very funny again, though. Jane Lynch and Jason Alexander were awesome.

What'shisname won last night for naming a bunch of Canadian prime ministers?! Come on!I think he already was winning (honestly, he was the only funny one there :)) and they just threw that in to make it seem that way. I just wasn't too impressed last night. I only thought the first guy (who won) was funny. The other ones were so-so.
LOL, Tom Green will be on Wednesday. THAT should be funny!

Maribeth Monroe is a Second City Chicago Alumni. I actually saw her on stage a few years ago at SC.
She was the main girl last night in the space scene and the 1950's theme.

I disagree with you there. Of course, I love Jane Lynch so she could say "hi" and I'd laugh ;)

I think I am looking at it more from an improv prespective. Not saying the others aren't funny in their own means but for example, the guy who was in the 1950's father/daughter scene (not sure of his name). First the father screwed up by changing his name from Bert to Pete but even when he was told his name was Bert his reaction was "oh great". He was just very negative and didn't expand on any of the lead-ins that were given to him. He couldn't even talk in a pirate voice for crying out loud! He was just lame.
The only skit that flowed like true improv was the first one. Although I can do without the swearing and sexual jokes. I don't like when people turn to stuff like that to be funny. They know its going to get a reaction out of the audience but I would rather them come up with something unique/actually funny to get a reaction.

How much did Shannon Elizabeth have to pay to get on this show??!! Or perhaps the better question is, who did she have to sleep with??

Totally!!
Last night wasn't as funny as the other shows, but it had some funny moments here and there. The woman that won was pretty funny. She had me dying when she walked in and her "husband" asked her where she was and she said, "Oh I had to use the bathroom...#2." Then when he said they weren't going to do the traditional first dance and he tossed it back to her and asked what they were going to do instead and she said, "A pyramid!" I thought I'd just die.
And the guy that played a doctor cracked me up when he walked through the door and proclaimed, "Thank God I'm here." He kinda caught the actress off guard. Pretty funny stuff. LOL!

I thought last night's episode was quite funny actually, better than Monday's episode, which I didn't think was that good. I was surprised to see Shannon Elizabeth on there too, but I actually thought she was pretty funny! Much better than I expected.

Shannon Elizabeth just acted like a ho.
The first girl who is on Girls Behaving Badly was funny! I was disappointed in Tom Green. Breaking stuff just to get a rile out of the audience is not funny. You could tell he didn't have anything to say. It was lame.
I was also disappointed when she wanted to do a pyramid and the "extras" (?) didn't participate and just looked at her. My bf who went through 2nd city said you never deny anyone or say NO to what they say/ask. You have to be positive and go along with things.
Shannon Elizabeth really has one marketable quality. She used it at least! I really like Chelsea Handler and she was the only one to make me really laugh. Her quickness during the final scene was hysterical. George Takei was a good sport, especially since he isn't known for being a comic, and I was disappointed in Tom Greene, although I never really liked him anyway.

I saw the first three performers, but then my DVR cut off. Damned thing! :( I thought Chelsea Handler was hilarious, but the other two were just "eh" to me. Not horrible, but not great.

Crap! I missed it (Oprah's on at 4 pm in my area).

I thought Oprah did a pretty good job. She seemed hesitant to do a dance, but once she started, it was funny. :)
