"Scrubs" is my and DH's favorite show. We watched it religiously during the season. And I bought DH the first season on DVD for an anniversary present. We've been watching an episode or two almost every night that he is in town. (I can't watch it without him! He'd get so pissed.) I wasn't sure the first season would be as funny as more recent episodes, but it was pretty close. Not as much Janitor and Ted the Lawyer though.
Some of my favorite episode were when Heather Graham was guest-starring. She was hilarious. My all-time favorite character is Dr. Kelso. As in, "What's got two thumbs and doesn't give a crap? Bob Kelso, I thought we'd met."
I can't believe Elliot left the show. I hope it is still going to be as funny next season.

Love it, love it, love it! We missed a few episodes this past season though because I also LOVE Amazing Race which is on at the same time and we were often gone on Tuesday nights, so we had to pick one show to tape. Now that we have Tivo and a VCR, I will not miss another Scrubs episode.
I just love the relationships between the characters...JD and Turk, JD and Perry, etc.
I am bummed about Elliot leaving, it will be interesting to see how they fill that void.
On another note, I LOVE Zach Braff! We have the Garden State DVD at home and I just love him in that movie!

My hubby and I love this show!! I didn't know that Elliott left!! Didn't Sarah Chalke learn anything from leaving Roseanne in it's prime, to now be leaving Scrubs? That girl has some lousy person guiding her career!! I have to say, though, that John C McGinley is my favorite one of all in the role of Dr. Cox!! :D

I love this show!! Though I have a very bad infatuation for Zach Braff...Mmmm yummy.
I heard that Elliot left the hospital to go to another one but would be seen on the show. I could be wrong.
Can't wait for it to start up again.
DH and I adore this show. It's one of our favorite shows on TV. We've watched it from the beginning. We've found that either people love the show or they don't really "get" it.

Oo! Oo! Another show I love! Wow, I really watch too much TV.
The rumor is,(like someone said) that Elliot is not leaving the show, just the hospital.
Hubby and I love Turk-- and we love it when Dr. Kelso calls him "Turkleton" (and when he calls Carla "Mrs. Turkleton". Hee). It makes us giggle every time :)
I agree that it's either a love or a Huh? thing. Man, those writers come up with some funny (yet still touching) stuff!

Oh! Me, me! :D
Scrubs is by far my favorite comedy and one of my Top 5. We just rented Season 1 and watched them all in a few days. It is just so funny and random.
I heard that Elliot's character will definitely still be there next year. I can't remember the source though. I am pretty sure Sarah Chalke isn't leaving.
What's got two thumbs and doesn't give a crap? Bob Kelso, I thought we'd met."
That is my favorite line EVER. I say it all the time

I love Scrubs! We have the first season on DVD, and I'm slowly making my way through them.
My favorite character has to be Dr. Cox. I love his sarcastic nature and how he replies to people with long speeches about how stupid they are.

LOL! Classic! :D
ETA that I just read this on IMDB:
In the Season 4 Episode My Malpractical Decision (409) Dr. Chris Turk, played by Donald Faison, changes his cellphone number to 1-916-Call-Turk. Unlike other shows and movies, this number is actually a valid number that most of the times will take your to a voice message telling you the latest info about Scrubs. However, as the phone is placed on the set where Scrubs is being filmed, every now and then, people from the cast or crew answers the phone to have a word with whoever is calling.
Interesting!

Add me to the list!!
Actually, when it first came out, I had trouble watching it because I was just out of nursing school (they do everything wrong, including washing their hands!! Was very annoying because it had been drilled in my head for 1.5 years to be perfect!) DH would turn it on and roll with laughter. I finally decided to give it another try and haven't stopped yet!

Love, love, love this show! Definitely one the shows DH and I never miss. My favorite character has to be Dr. Cox. Love him!
I love how it transitions between the laughs and the more serious moments. I can laughing at the beginning of the episode and then almost crying by the end.

I love that show! DH and I always watch. We had to tape it last year because it was up against something...Veronica Mars, I think.
I really love Dr. Cox and how sarcastic he is. And the janitor! I love him, too! :D You just don't mess with or get on the bad side of a janitor! ;)

DH and I are big Scrubs fans. We work nights so we always tape it so we can watch it together. I laugh out loud every episode. Can't wait for the fall, the new dinamics should be interesting.

My DH and I love this show! We just got Season 1 on DVD and ripped through them pretty fast.
We saw the janitor when we were shopping at some outlets in Banning, CA. a couple of years ago, but we were too starstruck to get an autograph.

Hooray! I'm so glad that Sarah Chalke isn't leaving the show, just the hospital. I totally had not figured out that she was Becky on "Roseanne." Huh. Go figure. Of course, I remember Donald Faison from Clueless and John C. McGintey from "Office Space."
I heard once that someone called the "Call Turk" number and Bill James picked up the phone!

Me too! Me too! My FH & I LOVE Scrubs! We have the Season 1 DVD & are most of the way through it.
Neither of us liked the show when it first started but we got into it somewhere during the third season or so. Now that we're re-watching season 1, we've figured out that we must not have actually watched an entire episode at the beginning. We decided that the show isn't one of those things that you can just get a glimpse of & then move on because if you do that, it won't make any sense. Either that or neither of us had a good sense of humor back in the day..... ;)
In any case, we're excited for the new season to start up again!

Two more fans over here! My brother got me hooked after the first few episodes and then I pulled in DH.
It was so weird to watch the episode where JD imagines them in a sitcom, and there was a laugh-track behind part of the show. So much of the humor was ruined.

Did any of you call CALL-TURK? They actually answered; I guess people who called got to talk to all sorts of cast members as they took turns calling the number.

Ooo!!! I LOVE ME SOME SCRUBS!
It's a great show and one of those ones that I actually laugh out loud at. My DH and I love it.
I haven't heard any of the gossip about cast changes. One thing I really like is the character growth, too. You don't see character evolve very often in sitcoms and it makes it more interesting. And it helps that the writing is hilarious!
Really? January is when new episodes come out? Really?
Bummer.

Love this show!! Like others my favorite is Dr. Cox. I love his sarcasm, but I also really like how he throws something profound in there every once and a while. I find him quite endearing. Strange, huh?

It's not coming back until January? What kind of tortuous hideously unfunny sitcom are they going to subject us to instead?

DH and I have only one more episode to watch on DVD. When is the second season going to come out??? I can't wait until January for more "Scrubs!"
Does anyone remember the episode where the medical and surgical interns have a little dance-off a la West Side Story? We just watched this one the other night. I was rolling on the floor. I think that is the episode where they really reached another level of funny.

We love Scrubs :D It is the cleverest show on TV, every line is my favorite I think. We've been watching the first season on DVD at the moment, and tonight I'll think we'll watch the bonus disc one of my co-workers lent me. It came attached to the outside of her set, but not mine!

Another huge fan of the show! I think it's one of the funniest and best-written comedies on TV. What an awesome ensemble cast.
On a side note, I saw Zach Braff in our commissary a couple of months ago. I guess he was shooting something on our lot. He's cute, cute, cute! :D

I loved how Turk started saying the words to "Safety Dance" when Carla was trying to talk about their imaginary son. Hee!
Is anyone else... disappointed with this season? I mean, I've liked the episodes, but they just don't compare with season 1 and 2, for example (which we've been watching on DVD lately).
I've read rumors that the show might be canceled at the end of this season and ABC might take it... I just wish that NBC would start treating it better -- move it to Thursday night and advertise it way more. They advertise The Office and My Name is Earl all the time, and I think Scrubs is better. (I'm eternally loyal to the UK version of The Office. :) )
I dunno, I thought the "Wizard of Oz" ep was brilliant. Not laff-a-minute, necessarily, but put together really really well.

I LOVE this show, but I am not overly impressed with JD this season. I did love the wizard of oz episode. JD just seems more annoying and less charming to me than before (I am, however, in LOVE with Zach Braff). Dr. Cox is hands down my favorite character.
I have to agree with the others - the Wizard of Oz episode was absolutely brilliant and definitely hits my "Top 10" list of favorite Scrubs episodes. And Dr. Cox's little boy makes me melt - not in a "what a world" way either. ;) He's just adorable!

I don't know why, but I thought the ostrich wearing Turk's hat was hilarious last week...
I kinda miss the characters being the "newbies"-- it's not as fun to watch them "be in charge." To me, that's really the only real difference in the quality of the show this year!
On another note, I think that Dr. Kelso is hilarious this year. His character has had some GREAT one-liners.
I don't know why, but I thought the ostrich wearing Turk's hat was hilarious last week...
I totally forgot about that. That was priceless. I heard the reason they had ostriches in the show was because one of the writers read that ostriches have a killer kick. So of course he said, "I must have that on the show." ;)

I definitely think this is one of the best seasons yet. My husband and I just sit and laugh the entire time. We are both in medical professions and it seems to be the most realstic show, honestly.
My husband and I just sit and laugh the entire time. Same here! No other show makes us laugh as much as we do when Scrubs is on. Love it! :D

This season may be a little more uneven than previous seasons, but it has had some great moments. I have watched the episode where Turk and the Todd have the huge karate battle with the other interns like 5 times.

delurking - I also have to agree that the Wizard of Oz episode was VERY good. And I started thinking how much I REALLY do love this show and I love how it always has a good message at the end.
And yes, Dr. Cox seriously has some great lines. And his son, SOOO adorable.
I had my doubts about the season when it first started, but now I'm thinking, "its back!"
Looking forward to Mandy Moore guest starring, I think her and Zach make a very good couple. Anyone else looking forward to it? :)

Chiming in late here because DH and I just got to watch our TiVoed episodes of "Scrubs" on Sunday night. Loved, loved, loved the airband thing. Come on! How talented is Donald Faison? That guy is amazing. I liked J.D. and Mandy Moore together too -- hello, the wizard hats! -- but I thought the klutizness was a little obvious.
We watched the airband sequences like five times, but it is never as funny as the first time, something about the element of surprise.

Just wanted to bump to see if anyone else watched it tonight...
Do you think Dr. Cox is actually gone?
I really like this show. Last week's episode was funny. My Dh is a Transformers geek and they were painting a transformers mural in the baby's room. I was so afraid he was going to get ideas! He wants to get a still from the movie and project it onto the wall and paint/draw it for our baby on the way.

I hope Dr. Cox isn't really gone. He's such a key player. As soon as I saw the previews, I knew it was going to be a sad one.
My DH was totally laughing at the transformer mural last week, too!
That's what I was wondering. I really hope not. :( Definitely a good show last night but not in a funny way like it usually is.

That was a bit of a shocker at the end! It seemed like everything was so happy and rosy and I kept thinking- how is this a season finale? There's no drama, no problems, no dilemmas...
I like the relationship between JD and Kim (is that her name?). I hope they come up with an interesting way to keep things good.

I thought the whole season was wonderful - some brilliant episodes! Although i thought the season finally was just eh. It cracked me up how carla kept getting bigger and bigger through the episode.
Hopefully there won't be as much uncertainty about the show coming back next season!

I was confused, though--when would JD and the new gal have slept together? He said that it was their "3rd date" when he came to the door--that leaves horesback riding (no nookie) and porch make-out (I assume no nookie). What gives?

My guess is that either they did get it on out on the porch (but i doubt it!) or most likely she hooked back up with her ex husband. I'm betting it's not JDs.

I'm guessing porch night. Maybe they went under it ;)
Personally this season finale reminded me too much of 7th Heaven....WAY TO MANY Pregnancies. I think the Dr Cox pregnancy would be funny again, but JD....I think that this pregnancy will end somehow.
Anyone know when Scrubs premieres this fall? Seems like a lot of shows are starting up again and DH and I want to make sure we don't miss it.
I think it's back as a midseason replacement again.

09-19-2006, 02:49 PM
I also think it's a replacement. But, Comedy Central is showing reruns from the beginning, I think starting at 8:00 EST, M-F and it's also showing in reruns on another channel.

Did anyone catch the show last night? Finally a new episode!
I think the whole JD getting that girl pregnant storyline is hilarious. I can't imagine it going any other way for him.
Oh, did Dr. Cox get his vasectomy reversed again? I remember he did it then reversed it then reversed that...I never saw him reverse it again. Since Jordan is pregnant again he must have, right?

I loved seeing all of their "doubles," although JD made a lousy woman. :) I don't remember where Dr. Cox ended up with his vasectomy, so I couldn't tell you. Maybe they'll mention it in an upcoming storyline.

I'm pretty sure she's pregnant IRL, hence the belly. Her first pregnancy was written into the show as well.

I watched it at lunch today! I felt kinda "eh" about the back story/doubles (and JD made an UGLY woman) but I just love all the characters so much!
I think that the funniest part to me was when Elliot offered to "mount" the older Dr. who was looking at her. Hee.
Yes - Jordan was pregnant in real life -- she had the baby a month or so ago, I believe!
I hope Carla has the baby soon because I hate her fake belly...

I LOVED the whole "bye bye bye" dancing shtick at the beginning! (I do hope that was the song that Turk was trying to revive)!
I love Scrubs. I think it's hilarious. My DH just doesn't get why I like it so much.
Last nights was funny. JD is so funny. I love how they can be all funny and silly during the episode and then at the end they get all serious and real. Like when JD went to the girls house to talk.

Nope -- this was part of the story line when they found out she was pregnant -- they tied up the doctor who performed the vasectomy and tortured him by having ted's A Capella group sing "I want my babyback, babyback, babyback, babyback, babyback, babyback..."etc, without ever saying "ribs". It was funny, but doesn't come across so well in the explaining.

I can't stand Dr Cox's hair either. It looks much better shorter!

DH and I thought the musical episode was hysterical. We were laughing out loud for most of it. I thought it was great how they not only used the format of a Broadway musical (big opening number, big Act I finale number, love song, etc) but also paid hommage to other great musicals (Les Miserables, Grease, Evita). Loved it.

I think I'm the only one who didn't LOVE the musical episode. I thought it was very well done and parts of it made me laugh out loud, but it wasn't my favorite.
I did read though that they were orginally thinking that this was the last season -- until they did this episode, and now the cast is revved up for another year. The ratings are better now than they were a few years ago too!

Yeah, I didn't love the musical either. I just didn't think it was that funny. I thought it would be just hysterical, but it was more of a 'true' musical where they were just singing about something rather than it being jokes. But, I did love "Guy Love"!

I thought the musical would be stupid, but it was great! I thought it was hilarious. I also loved "Guy Love"

I loved this - I've been singing songs from it all week! Interestingly, the one that gets stuck in my head most is Carla's song "I'm Dominican" - no idea why.

What did y'all think of last night's episode? I really don't like that Kim lied to JD about losing the baby. Why did she do that? Did she do it because she knew that JD wouldn't want to move to Tacoma?
I think she knew they were only in the relationship because of the baby and she wanted to let him off the hook and she knew he wouldn't move to Tacoma.

I thought it was a really good episode. Dr. Cox told Jordan he loves her-awe!
Wouldn't Kim have been showing more if she was still pregnant with? Maybe she miscarried and then got pregnant again?

You would think so but I have a friend that at that point in her pregnancy she just looked like she ate a big lunch, who knows? That would be awfully skanky of her if she miscarried and then got preggo again.
I personally thought Kim was going to tell JD that she met someone else.

Maybe the baby was never his in the first place? I don't know, I was so shocked when they showed her having the u/s!!

I was shocked too & it just didn't make sense to me. I thought that she might be letting him off the hook too, but JD was and has been very excited about the baby. I just don't think it is right of her to lie to JD about his baby. I know this is just a show and not real life, but I just wanted to talk about it!

I agree. I was really disappointed in her. So what if they wouldn't have had a realtionship without the baby. JD was really excited about it. Just wrong, imo.

They must have some plan for this storyline... but it's pretty sad and makes the character look horrible. Poor JD.

Overall - I thought it was a really really good episode. The thing I love about Scrubs is that it can be ridiculously silly, yet touching and poignant at the same time. The end was very sad though. JD's response when she told him he miscarried brought tears to my eyes. So sad....
Wouldn't Kim have been showing more if she was still pregnant with?
I really wasn't showing until way into the 2nd trimester -- so that part is pretty realistic... actually it was better than most shows who have women busting out of their clothes at 3 months!

Maybe she just wants to stay at her new job and she knew JD would be unhappy?
I dunno...it was a weird thing. I didn't like it.

Are they ever going to say anything about that doctor JD got pregnant? I don't know why they showed her still pregnant but haven't said a word since.

I can't believe they just killed off Laverne! That was so sad.

I bet they'll come back to it closer to her supposed due date.

Awww I like Kim and JD. And Elliot and what's his name. JD and Elliot to me are better friends.

I wonder what he's going to say. I'm not a huge fan of Kim, but I felt like she redeemed herself a little on this episode. I really felt bad for her. I have mixed feelings about J.D. and Elliot. Sometimes I think they're better off as friends, but I also kinda like them together.

What a load of crap.
At one point I thought they said "Series Finale". Now it's Season Finale. I am not fond of Elliot and JD together so I hope it doesn't go that way.

Is it just me or have y'all noticed a change in the show. I don't know if they have new writers or what, it just seems different to me. Not as funny, more soap opera than comedy, I just can't put my finger on it.

They definitely started making each episode more into a "dramedy" opposed to a straight out comedy. It's still one of my favorite shows though -- I'm very happy it got picked up for another season! I think next year will be the last year.

bumping this up for the new season.
I was going to start a Scrubs thread because I couldn't find one-then i did a lengthy search and here it is.
DH & I looooove this show. we watched Grey's last year but never got into it, so we're sticking with The Office and Scrubs as our thursday night shows. We're so bummed this is the last season. A lot of interesting story lines to play out this year. I'm really rooting for JD & Elliot (they're kind of the Ross & Rachel of Scrubs) to get together for good by the end.

I just watched My Point of No Return on Comedy Central. I'm really convinced that JD and Elliot won't end up together. Elliot ditching Keith right before the wedding and JD dumping Kim right before the birth of their child feels too soap opera-y for the show. Plus I stopped getting that "more than friends" vibe from them somewhere halfway through Season 5.
I'm a sucker for a sappy ending, so I'll be happy if Bill Lawrence can do it and make it funny, but I'm not holding my breath.
But then, I never thought they'd make Jordan and Perry as touchy-feely as they have, so who knows!
