Happy Birthday, Avery, Elodie, & Sasha!
Aunt Liv,
LOL...in my family I *am* the buffer. I had to get her away from the rest of our family for a few days.
Alicia,
How exciting! This will be my first trip to the Northwest. I'm really looking forward to it. Do you have family there, or are you heading there for vacation?
psusna,
Racing over now to shamelessly rip off all your hard work. j/k! ;)
Thanks everyone for all the well-wishes for the trip. I'm really nervous making this flight with DD. It will be our longest trip with her yet (7.5 hours of travel time PLUS a 3 hour car ride from Seattle to Portland. Don't ask. ) but I've gotten some great travel advice from you girls. I'm heading out to TRU tomorrow to stock up on all kinds of new briberies.

Hey all, just stopping by. Happy Birthday Sasha and Avery, and all the April/May babies i've missed so far! life here has been crazy.
i hope everyone in Kansas is ok. i can't believe what i'm seeing on tv.... :(
we had a Blue's Clues themed bday party on Saturday, and then today, for Elodie's official b-day, i took her to the park. it was a lot of fun, i got some nice pics.
i got a new laptop on Sunday, so i'm hoping that gives me more online time. i really feel out of touch with everyone and everything...i usually have been getting about 5 min online time in the evenings up til now, i just couldn't get away, seriously. but i can type away in the living room now and spend time with my family at the same time with a laptop....so i hope i can spend more time here and at LJ.
Hope you're all having great b-day parties! :) yay for our toddlers! :D

sasha - have you seen that blow up round tube thing that you put on the end of the bed to keep the kid in? i think it was from one step ahead...

Aww, thanks for the birthday wishes, girls! Mods, I guess I need my age changed to 31.
happy - I haven't seen that, must check it out!
psusna - No, she is still in a crib at home. I was totally crazy for attempting a BGB bed type thing in a new surrounding. I am heading over to the 2nd bday party thread now to check out your pics!
chylynn - It's not really a daybed, per se. I can only describe it as part daybed, part futon. I don't think bedrails will fit on it, honestly.
Liz - I hope C does well on the trip for you guys and you have a great time!
When you are out at restaurants these days, do you use a highchair or booster or nothing? Just curious....we still use a highchair in restaurants but when we were out with our friends, their DS just sat between them in the booth. Halfway through the meal, we tried it with Sarah and she did surprisingly well.
Chylynn

Liz -I'm sure C will be fabulous on your trip! Have fun!!
Sasha -Oh, that stinks. Good luck with whatever you decide to do for Sarah. Can you mabey rent a PNP at her house? Does she no longer fit in her PNP?
Booster/Highchair or nothing -No Highchair since she was 16 months. A booster if they have one or nothing at all. DD does not like to be confined at all and is so much more happier when she is sitting at the table with everyone else.

Speaking of restaurants... What do you all do when your child pitches a fit at a sit-down restaurant? It is so hit or miss with Abbey as to how well she will behave. When she does refuse to sit still or starts to wail, I really don't know what to do. I can't just leave if we have already ordered (especially if we're with friends) and there really isn't a "time out" area at a restaurant. Any ideas? (FWIW, I have the same problem when shopping too. Leaving the store isn't really a punishment, since that's what she wants anyway. )
Liz- We're going to Portland for Scott's best friend's wedding. I have never been before either and am pretty excited...especially since Abbey will be staying home so that DH and I can have an "adults only" weekend. ;)

Happy Belated B'day to Sasha as well.
usafwife I'm sorry to hear about your DH's cousin's passing. Thoughts are with you and your family.
Kansas girls I'm glad you are OK, that tornado sounds horrifying! I read about Greensburg in the paper, so sad. :(
psusna great b'day pics of Jackson! I'm glad the party went great, I saw the pics in the 2nd B'day thread and it looked like fun. Great job!
Liz Sounds like a nice girls weekend, enjoy your trip to Portland
ahavnes Cute pics of Abbey, love the one on the pony!
The weather is soooooo nice (finally) here in NE, I'm trying to spend most of it outside and not on the computer. :)

Happy Belated Birthday to Avery, Elodie and Sasha.
I am on the tailend of sick people, broken computers and lack of sleep.
- My heart goes out to you girls in Kansas.
psusna Great job with the parties. That cake is adorable
Liz Sounds like a long flight but I am sure it will be fine. Portland is supposed to be a great town so have a fun trip.
Restaurant We almost always do the high chair but I think those days are ending. We go out to eat about once a week so DS is a semi pro now. We've had our share of meltdowns and and if I have run out of toys or sugar packets, usually one of us will walk with him outside or somewhere else to distract. Worse case scenario, we leave. Now that he is older we talk about behaving nicely and if he is nice he will get a reward like ice cream or drinking from a glass. Same thing in a store - he can push the cart or walk next to me if he behaves. I think for us the big thing is to set him up for success and to nip things in the bud - going to eat right before his mealtime and not when he is ravenous or going shopping after taking a long walk so that he will sit in the stroller. But he still has his fair share of blow ups and I am sure he will tonight when we go out for DH's bday.:D

eating out we do the same as cynder-usually if he is good he great a reward (for Aiden it si playing with a cup and a straw odd I know). Usually if he is freaking out REALLY bad one of us will take him out and walk around.

Happy birthday to all the kiddos turning 2!!
Am I the only one with a toddler who yells "funny!" every time he does something he knows he shouldn't? In the last couple of weeks, every time Asher throws food or throws sand or pushes another kid on the playground or hits me or DH, and we try to talk to him about it, he says "funny!" or "Asher funny!" I don't know where he picked it up.

Happy Birthday to Elodie, Avery, and Sasha!
Kansas- I can't even imagine such loss. If I hadn't seen the pictures, I would have a hard time believing it. :( Glad that all of our KS ladies are ok.
usafwife- So sorry about DH's cousin.
psusna- I have to head over the 2nd bday party thread to check out your pics! Sounds like it was great!
cynder- Glad that the end is in sight for you! Have fun tonight!
liz- Hope you have a wonderful trip!
Sasha- Sorry you had such a hard time with the bed. James will be in a crib as long as possible too.
dreshny- James doesn't laugh, but when he does something wrong he'll call me so I can see (like climbing up on the dining room table). Not sure why he does that, I guess he wants to share how clever he is. Or he'll watch me with a cute little grin as he does the bad thing. He does the same thing when he spills something, but that's more because he HATES to have any sort of mess on or near him.
Restaurants- We usually just put DS in the booth next to one of us; we usually wind up switching sides a few times to mix things up. He'll usually last just about til the entrees come and then he loses it. One of us eats while the other takes him for a walk. As you can imagine, we rarely go out  We haven't tried ordering in advance yet- I have heard that that works pretty well.

Things are sucking pretty hard here. Yesterday I picked Aidan up from day care and she was acting pretty tired. I went ahead and took her to her first gymnastics class (which we won't be going back to...she's still too young). She was clingy and grouchy and just not herself. I brought her home after class and noticed that she felt really warm. I took her temp (101) then gave her some baby tylenol and put her to bed. Gave her more tylenol and put her in bed with me at 9:30. At 2:30 she vomitted and was SO hot to the touch so I gave her more tylenol. Something in me made me concerned (mother's intuition) and took her to the ER. We got right in and she had a rectal temp of 104 (and that was after tylenol) so they admitted her to the ER, cathed her to get a urine sample (NOT fun holding down a screaming 2 year old), stuck her 3 times to get a blood sample and give her a heplock for a later IV (more screaming) and then did a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia (even more screaming). We went back to our ER bed and she peed all over me in her sleep (they had her naked to help lower her temp) and of course I didn't have a spare shirt so I had to wear a gown. Turns out she has a really bad UTI and the vomitting was a sign of impending sepsis (!). Good thing I took her to the ER! Always listen to mother's intuition! She got an IV and we had to put 2 different arm boards on her to keep it from getting occluded because the teeny tiny little catheter in her vein would kink. Finally, at about 9am, we got discharged with 2 prescriptions. Unfortunately, the pharmacy didn't have her antibiotic. Ugh, irritating. So we came home and went to bed. I got up at about 3 this afternoon with a splitting headache. And I just got thrown up on. Yay. I called my stepdad (a nurse) and he said play it by ear. My mom said take her back to the ER, my friend (an RN) said if I feel like she's not getting better to take her back in. I just called the ER and they said that if she's not taking her antibiotics she's not going to feel any better. I can't get her antibiotics because now the pharmacy is closed and I don't have a written script to take it to Walgreens or CVS. If I take her back, we're going to be waiting who knows how long. I hate this. I don't know what to do. I am completely out of days off so my pay is getting docked but there's no way she can go back to day care tomorrow. I want my mommy and Ryan. :(

Tara,
How awful! Thank goodness you listened to that little voice in the back of your head. Poor Aidan...I cringe when I think she had to endure a cathedar with a UTI. :( Can you call the Dr. at the hospital back and explain to them what's going on? Maybe they can call you in an rx at one of the other pharmacy's? I've had many-a-uti's and they're absolutely right that once she gets the abx in her she'll feel much better. Usually by the next day. (((HUGS))) I'm so sorry that you're going this alone. :(
Restaurants
Distraction still works pretty well for us. I'll usually bust out a piece of paper and crayone for her or a pack of crackers or something for her to munch on. We also put in her order as soon as we sit down (with the drink order) so she doesn't have to wait so long for her food. She's a reeaally slow eater and won't even be half way through with her meal by the time ours comes out.
Roseanne,
Nope, not yet. We still only deal with the mischievious laugh.
Thanks again for all the bon voyages!! I'll "see" you girls in a week.

Happy Birthday All - can you believe our babies are 2?
Dentist - I talked about taking Jack to the dentist yesterday on LJ and thought I would describe it here! It was actually not that bad, we had been before when he bumped his tooth so he was very excited to know he was getting a ball. This was the first time for an actual cleaning. They had me hold Jack on my lap facing me and then we leaned him back so his head was in the denstist lap. The brushed them really well and counted them and we were out of there. Was not bad at all and Jack did great.

eating out:ohhhh the joys of dining out with Landon! It's just a guessing game as to which Landon we'll get when we go out to eat. Will we get the sweet little boy who is happy sitting in a highchair coloring and playing with a couple of toys, or will we get the wild banchee who refuses to sit in the highchair from the get-go and also refuses a booster, tries climbing otu of the booth, under the table, "entertains" the other patrons at the tables next to us, etc.? It's a total guessing game, each and every time. However, we refuse to stay home and never go out, just because we have a wild ass two year old! ;)
dreshny: LMAO! Asher is funny! ;) How cute. But to answer your question, no....Landon does say "Aunny (that's what he calls himself  ) funny!" When he makes us laugh, but when we're getting on to him, he pushes his lips out and says..."nnnnni nnnniii nooooooo, aunny" and the cracks up...yeah, makes it real easy not to laugh!
tgray: That poor baby girl. I know how painful those are, as I just got two, back to back after delivering Reece. I cannot imagine and tiny thing like her going through that pain. Bless her heart!!! I am so glad you went w/ your gutt feeling, that is so scary. ((hugs)) to you and Aidan, I wish you had both your mommy and Ryan there with you. Hang in there. Happy Birthday Nikki and James!
Avery had her 2 Year WBV on Tuesday. She's still a lightweight, but I'm happy to report that she's back on the weightchart (just barely skimming the bottom, but she's on there!). She's homefree until 3 now! Her weight was 22lbs 4oz and I think height was 34".
Getting Naked - Anybody else dealing with this new trick? When things get quiet at our house I can count on finding Avery stripped down to her birthday suit. I've become super thankful for hardwood floors ;), although I'm sure I'll get the pleasure of cleaning her pee out of the carpets soon enough. On the bright side I know going diaper free is one of the best ways to potty train...

ranchers I hope L is feeling better.
diedra your petite girl beat mine by 2 ounces! That's great that she is on the charts now. Are you still spiking her milk with cream and adding fats to other things?
disney I can't believe you only have 4 more months!
naked she really doesn't undress herself too often, sometimes I come get her from her crib in the AM and her sleeper is unzipped.
so many ROs I swear everyone in our playgroup is PG or had their 2nd recently. Everyone keeps asking me if we are having a second and I feel so weird for saying "I don't know yet". I really can't decide. I love how things are right now with 1 and I can't imagine life with 2. People seem to think I'm nuts for considering having only 1 child. Is it that unusual?

Greensburg Fundraiser~I just heard that Pizza Hut is raising money to help the town of Greensburg, destroyed by an F5 tornado on May 4. I'm not sure if it's just KS Pizza Hut or nationwide, but they are donating 20% of their sales to the town of Greensburg. If you are planning on eating out tonight, you might give your local PH a call to see if they are participating!
Mother's Day~Still no plans here yet. DH is putting off making them because his family wants to spend ALL DAY with us, and my s/mom wants time with us as well. Plus, a very close friend of ours has a son graduating that day.
Happy belated birthday to Elodie, Sasha, and Avery!!
Happy birthday to Aidan, Nikki, and James!!
Restaraunt~She usually does pretty good, but here lately she's wanted to stand in the highchair to eat her food.
tgray~How scary!! I hope Aidan is starting to feel like herself again!
Naked~She usually won't strip herself down, but when we undress her, she yells "naked baby!"

diedra your petite girl beat mine by 2 ounces! That's great that she is on the charts now. Are you still spiking her milk with cream and adding fats to other things?Yep, heavy cream added to whole milk is the key for us. I meant to ask the ped when I should cut back on that, but I forgot. I think I'll just continue to monitor her weight at home and if/when she gets above the 10th percentile start cutting back - first to whole milk only then to a lower fat content milk if she maintains.
People seem to think I'm nuts for considering having only 1 child. Is it that unusual?Go with your gut...even if you have 2 (or are pg with #2), people ask about #3 .

Abbey did something really funny at school today. The teacher asked her to stop playing in the craft drawer and she didn't. So, the teacher said "Abbey, do you need a time out?" Abbey's reply? "Yes!" And then she proceeded to put herself in the TO corner for a few seconds. She is too much!

I'm right there with you on being unsure about #2. I am really happy with the way things are with DD. It's manageable, we're mobile, things are good. Right now, I'm back to seriously thinking about it because of the sibling factor. It's so annoying to deal with people who think you are certifiably insane for even considering having just the one. You have to do what's right for you and your family.
Happy birthday to all of our 2 year olds who have recently had birthdays!

Alien: DS will (99.9999999999999999999999999999999%) be our only child. BOTH DH and I are only children as well. I don't worry so much about siblings as I do about there being no cousins/extended family for him. That bothers me more than the sibling thing -- and then it makes me think about the sibling thing, but honestly, we are thrilled with things right now. MAYBE someday we'll change our minds but I doubt it.
Ranchers: I had no clue he had Roto! Oh you poor thing. Speedy get well vibes to you. You really need to catch a break here soon!
UGH -- I found out last week that my job is ending in September. We are in the process of selling our company right now, and it seems that I'll be kept on as critical until the very end. The very end seems to be late September, which is fine, but of course my severence would run out the week before Christmas.............................fabulous. Time to do a little self examination and figure out next steps.
Happy Mother's Day weekend to everyone!!

alien - There are a lot of only children out there. Honestly, I think every family is different and there is no right or wrong in having 1 child or 20, it's just up to you. We're on to #2, but DH's brother and his wife have decided that they will only have 1. Like you, they're very happy with their son, he's manageable, etc. etc., and they can't picture themselves with more than one child. For us, we couldn't picture ourselves with only one child.
Ranchers - I hope your Roto goes away fast!! When I had it, it lasted just over a day. I hope you're starting to feel better now and that you'll be 100% by Mother's Day.
psusna - Sorry to hear about your job. That sucks.
ahavnes - Abbey cracks me up! Too cute.
Us - I received my very first Mother's Day gift from Maia yesterday. It's perfect! I picked her up from school, and her teacher had each child come out one at a time and they gave us our present. It was a goody bag with fudge (yummmm) and a book mark that was personally decorated by each child and laminated. It has a beautiful poem on it. I absolutely love it and will cherish it forever. I don't need anything else tomorrow (well, except for maybe breakfast in bed...that would be really nice :o ).

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU ALL!!!!

I feel like I am a better mom because I have had you all to share experiences with and a safe place to vent/find solutions to frustrating parenting issues. So thank you all and have a WONDERFUL day tomorrow!

I think a good way to look at it is that people think you are a good mom so should spread the wealth to more kids. :) (Well the only other reason is because people are way too frigging nosey for their own business, so i try to put a positive spin on it ;) ).
Having an only child is perfectly fine! So isn't having way more than one! Whatever works for your family.

Not much time as I'm having to do things that were suppose to get done yesterday. But we had something else come up unexpectedly that had to be taken care of. We had a new baby colt arrive late, late Friday evening. DH noticed him yesterday while mowing. So we had to stop doing that and go get a few things for him (momma has had a few issues in the past with producing enough milk so we bought some milk replacement, bottle and a few more t-posts so we could move them in an area just to themselves). Going to be interesting this week as we already had something else going on that we can't get out of.
Here are some new pictures of the little guy.

alien ~ I'm an only child. My dad came from a very large family (one of 12) so he was quite fine with just one. My mom was one of three girls. It took them 11 years to get me so that also played into the mix (back then IF treatments weren't so common and they didn't have the money to proceed with them even if they were). For the most part I was quite fine being the only one. I had tons of cousins to play with but most were older than me (I have one that's younger and the rest - 28 - are older) on my dad's side. (My mom's side I'm smack in the middle - two older and two younger.) I also had two friends who were sisters that were like the sisters I never had. As I've gotten older I have wished I had a sibling to help out with things so I'm not the only one to do everything for my parents. It was made that much harder on me when my mom had her aneurysm. I basically felt alone the night she had it (even though DH was with me). My dad is essentially gone (due to his bad health and disease) and I just felt like I'd lost both of my parents. I was left to make all the decisions and I really wasn't in the shape to make them considering I was in the ER due to complications with the pregnancy.
I have three cousins (on my dad's side) who have one child. One of my cousins has faced basically the same thing with her mom as we have with my dad. She's wanting to move back closer to her dad (some of the siblings aren't that helpful when it comes down to it but love to give their advice on how we should handle things).
Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss it further.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Maia!
Chiming in a day late, but I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. We have a fantastic group of mamas here!
Alien - I can only tell you what my mother, who is an only child, has said, and it's pretty much what usafwife already posted. The hardest part for her was when her parents were ill and passed away and she felt very alone in having to deal with their issues. She has also said that sometimes she missed having an automatic playmate. But you do what is best for your family, and just be happy with whatever decision you make. :)
Cynder - My ILs bought Sarah a knock-off Kettler from Target for her birthday. They haven't given it to her yet so I have no review for you, but it looks cool. I'll see if I can figure out the brand and I'll let you know.
usafwife - Ah, what a cute foal.

Hope everyone had a great day yesterday. Mine was low-key, but nice. :) We have all recovered from the nasty roto! Yay!
alien: I am an only child and from what my mom and dad say, I never asked for a sibling. I have (on my mom's side) 4 cousins, 2 boys and 2 girls and we're all within a few years of eachother in age, they are my siblings I never had. We are all so close. It's wonderful. On my dad's side, I'm the youngest and the next one closest to me is I think 5 years older, which isn't bad, but they're all out of town, my mom's side all live in the same town as us and we all talk/see eachother on a weekly basis. I do not look forward to handling my parents issues as they get older all alone, but as close as my family is, I know they'll all be here for me, as I need them. (Hopefully not for a long time!). I agree w/ what everyone else has said, do what's best for you and your family, and yes, while I was still pg w/ Reece, people were already asking when we were gonna try for #3.
psusna: So sorry about the job. I hope you get it all worked out quickly!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I also want to say that the past 2 plus PG years have been enhanced so much by having all of you around!
Thanks everyone for the input on the only child situation. I never really thought about DD having to deal with her aging parents alone, that is a really good point. She does have 3 cousins (so far - probably more in the future) near by, one who is close in age to her. I guess we'll see what we decide. I think I'm just terrified of dealing with two, but DD would be almost or over 3 it should be easier right?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAIA!
psusna I hope you can resolve your job situation soon, that's always unnerving.
trike Cynder we got this (http://www.amazon.com/Kiddi-O-Kettler-Supertrike-Stroller-Handle/dp/B000B8J7Q4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-2965229-2756839?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1179163459&sr=8-1) Kiddio Supertrike for DD. It's the low-end Kettler model. Right now it's on Amazon for $25 shipped (I paid $40 which I thought wasn't bad at the time). ETA: DON'T get the seatbelt for it, it doesn't fit on the bike. I need to try and return it.
It has a push bar and pushes well but it's hard to rely on DD to steer the front wheel in the right direction, but she should get the hang of it. Her feet don't reach the pedals right now. It seems like an afforable bike and it should last for a while.

Happy Belated Mother's Day, everyone!!
And thank you so much for wishing Maia a happy birthday!!
I have to say that I'm really disappointed in both my family and DH's so far. No phone calls to wish Maia a Happy Birthday. WTF?? And yesterday, DH's brother asked me when Maia's birthday was...hmmm...he said he couldn't remember what the day was. Nice. Mind you that if we even DARED to forget his son's birthday (8 days after Maia's, but they hijacked this past weekend to have their son's birthday on Saturday, but that's another whole story...we had to change Maia's birthday party to the 19th to accomodate this), he'd have our butts on a platter. Sorry about the language, I'm just a bit annoyed.
Sorry about the vent, just had to get that off my chest.
DH will be coming home from work early tonight (around 5 - that's early for him-HA!) and we're going to go out to dinner the three of us. I'm looking forward to that.
Trike - We got Maia the Radio Flyer Trike http://radioflyer.com/trikes/trikes_53.html. I found it at Target for $50.

I'm so behind....
Have to ask about potty training! James is consistently using the potty!! He'll use it when we ask him if he needs to go - so far about 1/day for the last week or so. But he never asks to use it - only if we prompt him first.
I don't even know what to do next! Is it time to really start pushing it, or just let him lead the way?
He's so funny, he leans forward, and really pushes, even though he's just peeing. It's all for his "special treat"! I reward him with one Gummi candy.... He thinks he's so cool! So do I, personally!
Also, I started to post this the other day when you all were talking about naked babies.... But Alex called...
A few Saturdays mornings ago I found this.... To top it all off, James had put his pajamas away in the right drawer, and put his diaper in the Diaper Champ. He's holding a clean shirt and a diaper (although it is Alex's). And yes - he got the sandals on the right feet!

Wasn't so funny, though, on Sunday morning when he repeated it with a poopy diaper!:)...thanks to my little nudist, I cleaned bodily fluids off my living room floor every day last week . I decided to try a new approach that seems to be working: I told to her that we take off our pants when we need to use the toilet, so if I catch her in the act (or if she runs in the room naked) we go sit on the potty seat. She seem to accept my explaination and she's still stripping down, but she's no longer doing it 3-4 times a day (and I didn't have to clean poop off my floor all weekend!).

Oh goodness- I think I missed a bunch of birthdays! Happy belated birthdays to Nikki and James! And I think I can sneak in an on-time Happy Birthday to Maia!
alien- It's interesting how different family dynamics are. There are no hard and fast rules for how siblings will interact based on age difference or gender. I was an only child until I was 7; my sister and I are not close. DH has a younger sister who is two years younger and they were close growing up, but now there's a lot of competition and resentment between them. I think it got worse when we moved back here, like SIL felt like we would be taking away some of my ILs affections from her and her kids. Things are definitely getting better, but DH is still hurt from the way she treated him when we first got here. DH used to want 3-4 kids, but now we'll try for one more and that will probably be it. And if James is an only child, that's ok too.
usafwife- What an adorable little colt!
cynder- No advice really, we're still using big wheels here.
Aunt Liv- Oh that stinks that your families aren't calling Maia!! I hope that they've since gotten on the phone!
wendstress- Yay for the potty progression! DS strains to pee more after we applaud him because he just loves the praise! We're in the same boat- James only goes right after we strip him down before his bath and we have to physically put him on the toilet. What about the other signs? Is he telling you when he went in his diaper? Is he hiding when he poops? Can he hold his urine for a while at a time and at night? The doctor asked us and when we told her no to all of those things (except the hiding when pooping) she said he wasn't ready.
Nekkid Babies- James loves being naked and he takes off his pants constantly, but he rarely strips himself down completely (although it has happened). One thing he's started doing, which drives me bonkers, is take his diaper off while still wearing his one piece pajamas.
I hope everyone had lovely days yesterday. We went to breakfast with ILs and SIL and her family, then we chilled out for the rest of the day. Later we grilled burgers with the ILs. A very nice day. The only thing that I didn't get was an extra hour or two of sleep- DH thought he was giving me a break by getting DS out of his crib and bringing him into our bed. Of course James wanted to get down right away and bring mommy with him.

Potty training: Asher surprised us by showing readiness signs a couple of months back (I wasn't even going to try until he turned 3, or at least 2.) We let him run around our apartment naked a lot, and it only took a couple of accidents (yes, we cleaned up poop from the floor) before he figured out the potty thing. Now, if he's naked and at home, he will stop playing to run to the potty and go. We also sit him on the potty consistently after he wakes up in the morning, after his nap, and before his bath. I'm proud to say that 70% of his poops are in the potty these days.
That said...we spend a lot of time out and about, and he wears a diaper and goes in it (though lately he's been telling me if he needs a change.) I'm not brave enough to take him out in underpants yet, since it's hard to find bathrooms in the park, etc. and because he hasn't yet taken on the "big toilet," just his little potty.
Happy birthday to Maia, James, and Nikki!
We are leaving for a 5-day trip to Puerto Rico on Friday. Had to sneak it in before Asher turns 2 on the 31st and will no longer be able to fly free as a lap baby. I hope it's fun, but I'm kind of dreading the flight (we borrowed a DVD player). And it'll be our first "real" family vacations, since on all of our prior trips, mostly to the Jersey shore, we went with either my parents or DH's.

Forgot to mention a few things from WBV yesterday. He got a Hep. A shot to finish that series, and a finger prick to check iron. The ped also said that you can double their height at 2 and get a pretty good estimate of their adult height. That would mean DS would be 6'6", which is pretty accurate given that DH is 6'4". Wowzers.

My parents never thought it would be an issue either, Alien. DH's dad was also an only child (his parents had several m/c after FIL was born). He said his dad said felt the same way I did.
sasha, jrdhbunny ~ Thanks. We think he's pretty darn cute as well. DD keeps saying 'horsey, lil horsey!!' (Can we say she's obessed with horses? Yes, that's a given ;) )
Aunt Liv ~ Sorry about no mention of her birthday. I can understand and relate to having to move a birthday party. I think that's what is going to happen with DD's. Although I've pretty much decided that we will most likely have it the Saturday before the 4th. See below for what is going on with my sil. {{{HUGS}}}
Wendstress ~ We are in the process of starting potty training DD. She's now answering correctly when we ask about the bathroom. I was (still am) getting fed up with her sticking her hand in her pants and bringing back something (if you get what I mean). DD goes and gets her big girl pants (aka pull-up) and puts her shoes on as well. She also loves to wear my shoes around the house the house as well (and then leaves them wherever and then I'm looking for them afterwards). She will bring me the correct item when I ask for one of bubby's (aka DS) diaper and when I ask for one of her big girl pants. Right now she's more interested in throwing things in the trashcan rather than the diaper container in her room.
Roseanne ~ Enjoy your trip!
psusna ~ You've got a tall little boy there! I know they commented on how tall DD was when we had DS in there for his 2 month WBV (so I know we have a tall little girl as well...DH measured her height and said she was a little over 35 inches then). I have to buy her 3T dresses for the length but she can still wear 12 month shorts. I even bought a 3T swimsuit because she needed it for the length. I just hope it doesn't end up at the bottom of the pool once she gets in the water.
SIL vent ~ Well, we were going to stay a day or two with BIL and SIL this week but found out last night that sil suddenly has plans and we can't go. This same thing happened earlier this month. DH had talked with BIL while they were back visiting and said we could come the first weekend of May. They didn't get home good until we found out her sister and family were coming. When DH talked to her on sat around noon they still hadn't arrived. We called over the weekend and were told that any day would work this week, just let them know. So last night when he called and asked about the end of the week we found out that wasn't going to work (seems she's in charge of a fieldtrip). BIL is having to work a couple of nights this week. It was as if since he wasn't going to be home we couldn't come. DH said it was as if she suddenly just decided to volunteer for the fieldtrip and had her sister/family come so we couldn't. I got that impression as well. Oh well....such is life.
I guess we will plan for DD's party when we want and who will be there will be there. Only immediate family members will be my mom, DH's grandparents, probably my aunt and DH's stepmom and her DH. Same as it was last year for her first birthday. Guess it shouldn't tick me off but it does. Especially when it's a major ordeal for us to attend our nieces and nephew birthday parties. Can't they simply do the same for our children??
Okay....I'll go lay down. I've been up since 4 am (after going to bed around 11:30ish). Hopefully DD will take a long nap. I love when she just goes to sleep on her own....no fighting or protesting it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACE!!
We celebrated Maia's birthday by going to get pizza, just the three of us. We had a great time. My parents are flying in tonight, so I'll get my mom's help to plan the party this weekend. I'm glad to be getting some help!
Other than that, Maia absolutely LOVES her trike!!!!!! We can't walk past it without her wanting to get on it and go for a ride. So, I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a gift for their 2-year old.
usafwife - I remember the vent you had about your SIL a few weeks back. I'm sorry that you're dealing with yet ANOTHER BIL/SIL selfish episode. Thanks for the hugs, and I'm sending you {{{HUGS}}} right back!

Doubling Height- That means Abbey will be over 6 feet tall! I think that's probably pretty accurate though, given that DH is 6'3" and SIL is 6'1". I am no shorty either (5'7"). I just worry about Abbey feeling gawky and out of place as a tall child. I was tall for a lot of my childhood and I remember hating it.

Aunt Liv ~ Thanks. It's not really BIL, just SIL. A few years back SIL wouldn't allow us/DH in the house unless BIL was there. No real reason was ever given for that.
Doubling Height ~ We haven't measured her real recently but I wouldn't be suprised if she wasn't going to be tall. I'm 5'6" and DH is 6'. My grandfather was 6'4" and my aunt was close to/if not 6'. I have two cousins (both males) who got my grandfather's (and one is the son of my aunt who was 6') height.

Thanks girls! I cannot believe she turns two today. Where did my baby go?! She is kind of getting the birthday thing and keeps saying, "Sarah birthday!" I called her daycare a little while ago to say I'd be bringing cupcakes at snack time and the ED said that was a good thing because apparently she also keeps saying, "I want cake" LOL.
Happy birthday to Jack too!
Birthday presents - Well grandparents swooped up the big presents I was considering - a trike and a baby doll set. The other big item I had wanted to do was a play kitchen but I just don't have the room in my house for it, so we passed. We got her a Little People set (the fair one, I think?), the sing 'n play aqaudoodle, a Dora bath toy, play kitchen plates, spoons, cups, etc. set and some books.

Happy Birthday, Sarah & Jack (and all the other kids I missed while on vacation!)
Birthday Gifts
We already bought her a trike (which we've stashed away until the big day) and plan on taking her to the Aquarium.
Back from Portland. We had a great time and Caroline did remarkably well on all the flights. Fussy when we pushed back/waited on the tarmac but slept almost entirely the entire flight.
Probably the biggest news I'm bringing home from Portland is that I found out on Sunday that I'm Pregnant!! I'm due January 25th and scared out of my gourd!

Happy 2nd Sarah!
Happy 2nd Jack!
Congrats Liz!!!
B-day gifts- Like Sasha said, the grandparents have dibs on spoiling Abs rotten. ;) From them, she is getting the Fisher Price Toddler Digi Camera and case (since she loves "taking pics" with our real camera!), and a travel DVD player. Scott and I are getting her the Aqua Doodle mat and maybe a cheap tricycle. We're cheap. :)

B-day gifts I bought Nikki a dora bigwheel and she LOVES it! Not sure what else I will buy her as her B-day party with family is on Saturday, so DH thinks we need to buy her something else to open at the party.

Congratulations, Liz!! H&H 9 months :) :) :)
Bday gifts: We did the wagon last year and now he won't even ride in it -- he just uses it to pull buckets of bird food out to the feeders in the back yard. We got a Tricycle this year and he hates the helmet, but we'll keep trying.

OMG I will always be behind, won't I?? :o
Happy birthday to everyone i have missed, and Maia, James, Nikki, Sarah, Jack & Grace!!
Bday Presents
Thomas is really into cars & trains (the Matchbox-sized ones) so today at Baby Depot I found this 3'x8' rug that's all roads and neighborhoods for only $10! I figured I can get him a few more cars for his day, and since this rug is really flat 7 foldable we can put it in th livingroom to play on then slip it under the couch when its not in use. So cute!
I also found a plastic golf bag, balls & club set at the craft store just his size. he loves to golf, so this is going to go over great.
We are still stuck in our apartment, so no more big toys. :( We'd love to get him the trike, but we already get warning letters from the building management about leaving the car/wagon outside our front door. Sigh....
Liz
I am SO FREAKING HAPPY for you! :) Congratulalalalalalalations!
Ally
We have the big plastic 2-seater Radio Flyer wagon with the seatbelts and it is a HIT.
Doubling Height
haven't measured DS lately, but this would mean I will have a giraffe for a child! LOL! And DD is pretty long, too. i always enjoyed being tall, and my (shorty ;) ) ILs have been praying my half of the genes take over...so we'll see.
Ahhh...2 kids sleeping I must try to nap myself. Later ladies!

Happy birthday to Jack and Sarah!
Congrats, Liz! :)
Birthday presents: Am I the only one who's never bought her kid a birthday present (or a Hanukkah present either)?? I just figure he'll get so much other stuff from other people that whatever we get him would be lost in the pile (and we have very little space.) And since he doesn't really quite "get" presents yet, I think we'll just wait until he does and can ask for something.

Happy Belated Birthday to Grace!
Happy Birthday to Sarah!
Happy Birthday to Jack (both of them)! (KGif and Ladybug's DS's.
Congratulations Liz, H&H 9 months to you!
wendstress that photo is a riot!
Dreshny enjoy PR! We were there years ago and loved it.
birthday gifts we got her the trike. Relatives got her the Little Tikes Basketball set, a Little Tikes ride-on toy (it's a small tricyle but she really doesn't use it) and the Little Tikes gas pump for her Cozy Coupe. She also got a doll stroller which she loves. She got a good mix of toys, books and clothing. Her favorite toy from her friends is a little metal tea set - so cute!
wagon we got DD the wagon last year. She still uses it, but I actually think it will be more useful when she is a bit older (and listens better/understands that the street is dangerous) and we can go further with it. Right now I don't trust that she won't jump out or something so we stay in the yard/driveway and don't really go that far. We did take her in it on Halloween and that worked well.

Happy Birthday Sarah!
Happy Birthday Jack and Jack!
Congratulations Liz!
Bday Presents- We only got him two things: a big wheel and a soccer goal. He hasn't even seen the soccer goal yet! I picked him up some little things here and there, but decided to save them for Christmas because he had such a big bday party (he got 2 ride on toys, a basketball net, clothes, toy cars, etc.). I still have things from last Christmas that I've yet to give him!
Doubling Height- That would make sense for James as it would put him at 5'10". That's about what I would expect him to be given our families.

Congratulations, Liz!!
Happy Birthday to Grace, Sarah, and Jack (x2)!!
Birthday Gifts - We got Avery the Fisher Price Play Kitchen and a trike/bike thing. The trike is too big for her (DH did the shopping this year!), but the kitchen is a huge hit.
Doubling Height - I think Avery will probably exceed the 'rule'. If she doubled her current height she'd only be about 5'3". I'm 5'9" and DH is 6', so I would think that her chances of being taller than double her age 2 height are pretty good.

bday presents: I'm not 100% sure yet. Definitely some trains and extra track, but I'm not sure what else.

Birthday Present: We cheaped out and got her a couple of books and a monogrammed bookbag. She loves her bag, it's a pink backpack with green monogramming (the cute stuff is for me), and carries her books and cup around with her in it. Best $25 I ever spent on her.
Doubling Height: We haven't been to her 2yo WBV because she had her 18mo visit late and still can't get her booster shots until 6 months have passed. But, she's about 33 inches tall so her adult height would be 5'6".
Dreshny
05-16-2007, 05:27 PM
Doubling height: Hmmm, Asher is about 32 inches, which would make him 5'4". Which is about right, since I'm 5'3" and DH is 5'5", though I was hoping maybe he'd get my mom's family's tall genes. My brother is 6'.
Chylynn
05-17-2007, 05:09 AM
Doubling Height -Hmm, Rebecca was 34" at her WBC, so I think that would put her at 5'7", which sounds about right since I am 5'5'" and DH is 6".
Birthday presents -We purchased a trike for her and took her to disney. Grandparents spoiled her rotten, that is for sure. Her favorite gift was her basketball set. Loves that thing!
Liz -Congratulations!! Caroline is going to be such a sweet big sister!
Happy belated birthday, Jack!
Speech Therapy -It is going really well. Rebecca says "ya" and "good by" now! So exciting to here her little voice. I love my little one so much!

Happy Birthday Sarah, Jack & Grace!!
Congrats Liz and a happy pregnancy for you!!
Doubling Height Oy. I so don't want to go by that stat! DH's parents are tiny and he's 6' so there is hope.
Birthday Presents We're giving him a train table. I felt bad because it is used but it certainly doesn't look it so I'm fine with just that. The party his other gift.
Roseanne We haven't really given DS any Christmas gifts besides his chair this year because the families overwhelm him with stuff. I think it will be another year or two before they start remembering what they get and the love behind it, KWIM?

Question -- has anyone here ever put baby things in consignment? I am wanting to do a major purge of baby items in prep for moving DS to his new BBR later this year. I have already donated quite a bit to his school, given to friends, etc. However, I have our highchair, huge, gigantic stroller, lots of shoes, monitor, etc. and would like to put them in consignment. If you have done it was it worth it (both in terms of your time and in terms of return of $$)? We have a store locally that will come pick everything up so you never have to go to the store, which is great. TIA!!
LIZNKEITH
05-17-2007, 10:48 AM
Thank you all for the congratulations. I'm still in a state of shock.
Doubling Height
I actually haven't measured her since her 18 month WBV at which time I think she was 31 inches. I don't think she's gotten much taller since then. So yeah, there's probably some truth to it in our case. I'm 5'2 and DH is 5'5 or 5'6.
Consignment
We put in a crib that we had bought for DD then had buyer's remorse on. It sold within a week or two and we got pretty close to what we paid for it. I was really happy with the experience, but it's the only experience I've had.

Congratulations LIZ! I'm so excited for you! H&H 9 months!!!!
Happy Birthday to all the sweet May babes!
Height
I'm scared. I say I'm 5'4'" but apparently I'm 5'3". DH is 5' 9.5" (yes i did add the .5). DD's WBV is June 8th. I'm hoping the tall uncle's on both sides have influenced the genes in this area. I hate being short!!!!!!!!!!
B-day Gifts
I'm so glad Dreshny said she didn't buy them either. I was feeling bad there for a sec. I haven't purchased b-day gifts for her yet. She gets big b-day parties and way too much stuff for her b-day from others. I just opened the last of her 1st b-day gifts two weeks ago (a trike). Once she understands presents and who gave her what, I'll start with that. I feel like I buy her stuff daily.
Crash
I got in a car accident on the way to work on Tuesday. An old woman was not paying attention in stop and go traffic and when the traffic stopped, she was looking off in the other direction, still accelerating, and crashed into me. Luckily I didn't hit the car in front of me. I saw the whole thing happen in my rearview mirror. I even had time to beep my horn to try to warn her - but she just wasn't paying attention. This is the 5th time someone has run into me in the car. I just couldn't believe it happened again. I sat there and called DH and began crying hysterically. The pain started right away, had to go to the hospital by ambulance (I'm so grateful DD was not with me). I spent the last 2 days hyped up on valium and other pain meds. Today I'm back to work (without major meds) and feeling everything. It really sux. I know it could have been much worse but at my age, I need my back for a few more years. I really don't want to go through surgery either. I've been through pain management doctors, acupuncture, physical therapy and I still do weekly chiropractic. I just didn't need another hit like this.
Sleep
On a positive note, Jessie has been STTN!!! For the last few days she's back with the program. Yeah! She's still an early riser (6:00am) but I'll take it!!!! Beggars can't be choosers!

jessismama I'm so sorry to hear about the accident, I hope you get better soon. but that's good news about STTN!
doubling height that puts DD at about 5' 7" based on her WBV height, since I'm 5' 1" and DH is 6' 1" I guess that makes sense. We were hoping she would be somewhere in between us. I don't like being so short either.
shoe size so what shoe size is everyone at? I had DD measured about 2 weeks ago and they said she still was a 5, maybe a 5.5. I just bought her a size 6 sandal and it seems too small. I had her measured at Stride Rite and these are stride rite shoes. I really want some room for growth. Could she have had a growth spurt in her foot like that? I'm going to go back for an exchange (hasn't worn them yet) and to ask the SR people for their suggestions. DD detests having her foot measured (cries and screams) and I've tried doing it at home on a piece of paper and she isn't agreeable to that either.

jessiesmama: Ouch! I'm sorry that happened. I hope you feel better soon.
Shoes: I had Asher measured a few weeks ago. They told me he was a 6 or a 6 1/2, and sold me a pair of Geox sandals, size 6 1/2 and a pair of Teva sandals, size 6. Well, the Tevas have room in them, but the Geox fit perfectly with no room to grow, so I guess I'll be investing in more sandals this summer when he outgrows them. I think all shoes fit a little differently.

Jessiesmama- So sorry to hear about the wreck! I hope your back heals quickly. Great news about Jessie STTN! I guess she figured Mama needs her rest. ;)
Dreshny- Have a great trip! This should be a great age for a beach trip! Maybe all of the activity/outside time will make Asher go to sleep earlier. :)
Shoe Size- Abbey has had a total growth spurt in her feet. She was a 5.5 for the longest time, and now she is a 7!! This happened in just a few weeks. She practically skipped over the 6.5 sized shoe. She is really tall though (36 inches), so I am not surprised.

Alienhost,
That's fine. Thanks!
Shoe Size
We brought DD in for a sizing in March and she was still measuring the same size as she did in October (4.5). We figured it had to be wrong or that she'd be having a growth spurt really soon so we bought her a pair of 5.5's. They're still a little big on her though. Her 4.5's are so tight on her though.

Shoes - I haven't had her measured lately, but I put her in 5s which currently fit just right. I predict that she'll need to move up a size before the end of summer. I've been so used to having a slow-growing kiddo that moving up sizes, shoes AND clothes, every 6 months or so is totally foreign to me!

Grandma (my mom) is here visiting for Sarah's birthday and Sarah is having the time of her life with her. b-day gifts: we get him one or two, usually. With how much his grandparents give him, we don't need to get too much. We definitely want to get him outside stuff, like a bubble lawnmower (lawnmower is his favorite word right now) and some tools so he can be like Daddy. We'll probably hit TRU on Saturday to shop for his birthday gifts.
doubling height: I think Brody's up to 37 inches right now, so if we double that, he'd be 6'2". DH is 6'4" and I'm 5'8", so that sounds just about right.
jdrhbunny: is your son using the big wheel? That was one of my favorite toys as a kid, and I saw the recommended age was 3-6 yrs. So I was wondering if it was too early to get for a 2 yr old.

Thanks ladies! I'll be ok - I'm just grateful to be in one piece. It could have been much worse. My back is bad but it was bad before so it is what it is.
I'm happy to be off from work today. But it looks like rain. I'm going to go to the chiropractor then off to my favorite store to pick up a b-day gift I ordered and order another gift or my cousin's kid. Seems like the only parties I go to lately are for the 5 and under crowd!
Sickie or faker?
Jessie woke this morning telling me "I don't feel good". When I asked her what hurt she said her belly - then a little later I asked her again and she said her back but wouldn't point to a specific spot. Hmmmm.. She has no fever and is now climbing on top of her play kitchen and watching Dora. Wonder if she's getting sick or if she just wanted attention.
Birthday funny
She knows her birthday is coming. Every time she sees a cake or a toy she says it's for her b-day. We had cake on Mother's Day and she announced to everyone that it was "my birrrday cake!"

LOL! Chaos is right, I'm sure. Soem days it seems so chaotic with one, I can't imagine the shenanigans two can get in to.
Jody,
Glad you're getting in to see the chiro today. I hope it helps. Too funny about Jessie. Do you think she could be complaining about her back because she's seen/heard you doing it? Maybe she's experiencing sympathy pains. ;)
We transitioned Caroline's crib to a daybed last night and it went much better than I anticipated. She literally rolled right over and fell right asleep! I think it's a total fluke though. She's slept like crap since we've been back from vacation and I think she was just overtired. Tonight will be the true test, but at least we have the benefit of the weekend.

Horse/foal update ~ Little guy is doing good but his momma isn't. It's touch and go right now for her. Send all the prayers and good thoughts you can. We think he's draining more off her from nursing. He isn't looking so skinny now.

jessiesmama- Youch!! Glad you're going to see a chiropractor- hope your back feels better soon! Too funny about the birthday stuff! As for the pain, maybe it was gas. James tells me his stomach hurts on occasion, then right afterward lets out a big toot. :) All better!

Thanks ladies. Between the medication and the chiropractor and ice, I made it through the day yesterday. I'm going to go back to the chiro today since I won't be able to get back until Friday.
Telling me she's sick
Jessie did the same thing this morning. She said "I don't feel good". When I asked her what hurt she said her belly. She did that yesterday but was FINE all day long. Strange.
Hero Day
My niece (DH's sister's daughter) has hero day at school. Each kid has to choose a hero and their hero is invited to come to a hero day at school. Guess who's her hero? ME! She asked me! She has to stand up in front of the class with me and tell everyone why I'm her hero! Then when all the kids are done they sing "Wind beneath my wings" It's the sweetest thing. I feel so honored that she picked me! She told her mom, (my SIL) that if I couldn't make it, she would be her second choice!

Jody,
Wow, how flattering! That is so sweet that she chose you as her hero. Be sure to bring a hankie. ;)
Impending Growth Spurt?
DD is eating everything that's not nailed to the floor. I picked her up at daycare yesterday and the Director said Caroline got so mad at her. Why, you ask? Because the Director refused to give her a sixth bowl of Cheerios, milk, and bananas (given they're kind of small...about a half cup each)!! She said Caroline was yelling at her, pointing her finger saying "No, Kat-tee! Want More!" LOL! Sure enough, at breakfast this morning she had a Van's Blueberry Waffle, about a 2-inch thick ring of pineapple, & a whole banana. Then when she saw me eating my bowl of Cheerios she asked for some too. She ended up eating about a half cup of Cheerios with milk. Where the heck does she pack all this food away?

Liz - Congratulations!!!! I was SO scared when I first found out I was pregnant again, but now that I'm at about 17 weeks, I'm starting to get really excited. Also, it definitely sounds like Caroline is about to have a MAJOR growth spurt.
Jessiesmama - That is too sweet that your niece asked you to be her hero. Wow! What an honor. I hope you feel better soon.
usafwife - I hope your mare gets better very soon.
I know I've missed a TON of people. My parents were in town until yesterday, so I wasn't able to get online much. Happy Birthday to all I've missed.
We had Maia's birthday party with the family yesterday, and I'll have to post pictures as soon as I download them. Some of them are hilarious (like how she eats her cupcake...you'd think she was bobbing for apples - hands behind back, and only using her face/mouth to eat it). She had a great time! We're doing her playgroup birthday party on Wednesday.
24 month WBV stats:
Height - 34.5" (75th percentile)
Weight - 25lbs 14oz (50th percentile)
So, according to her height, she'll be 5'9" as an adult, which is very possible. Although DH is somewhat short at 5'10" and everyone in his family is short, I have a lot of really tall people in my family...looks like she took after my side :p .

I know some bdays have passed, so happy belated birthday to Nic and Sam!
We had Sarah's party this weekend and it was great. She was so happy to have all of her favorite people, both family and daycare buddies, all together. Everyone someone new would show up, she'd yell their name with such joy. I'll post a few pics once they are uploaded to Photobucket.
Aunt Liv - She looks like such a little girl! I love the one of her dancing.
Kim & Rancher - I was also looking for some stuff from when Sarah was a newborn and couldn't find the old threads. If you find out why or if they are gone for good, please let me know!
usafwife - I hope your mare is doing better.
Jessiesmama - What a nice honor!

Happy Belated B-day Nic and Sam!!

Aunt Liv- Those are adorable pictures!
jessiesmama- Wow, that's terrific! :)
usawife- Hope the mare gets better soon.
Sasha- Glad the party went well.

Hey Y'all, I have a 2 year old now! Yipes!
Sam's birthday was on Saturday and we had a blast. His train table has been a huge hit, we had a nice outdoor family lunch and lots and lots of cake. I think he pretty much had cake for dinner. All in all he had such a good time and I so happy for that. Note to self though, next do not have the party the same day as the birthday. I think I want to keep that day special and reserved for just our family.
Alicia Thanks for the wishes!
Old Threads Hey! What happy to the early CC threads? Damn, that is going to be a shame if we can't get to those.

Hey threadmistresses, I have a question! :)
I can't remember a darn thing from when Thomas was a newborn, so I went to look through the old threads....and the links aren't working. Are they gone? Did I do something wrong? Help!
Thanks...
I think I've figured out what happened. Those older threads are in the INFANT GROUPS "section" - I'm guessing when they split everything up they changed the locations of the threads.
I'll work on fixing it soon. But if you need to find them go to the INFANT GROUPS and select to "see all threads from beginning.
BBL with an update on if I fix the links.
-alienhost
ETA: OK I THINK I FIXED THE LINKS. GIVE IT A TRY AND IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS LET ME KNOW.
sorry about that! I never went back to check the old links when the new threads were established. Thanks kimthebride for pointing it out!
I also added the 24 mo WBV stats for Aunt Liv

Threadmistresses: A big THANK YOU for all you do to keep these threads running! It is much appreciated. As many said a few weeks ago, these threads are so valuable (even for those of us who don't post as often) and you're work to keep them running and up to date makes my life a little nicer each day/time I can sit down and read them :)
Happy Birthday to all those who have celebrated birthdays so far! I've really enjoyed hearing how everyone is celebrating this milestone.
Birthday Parties: I think I've finally got a plan for Brady's birthday parties. After much deliberation, I think we are going to have 2 parties. One on Saturday June 23rd with friends and family (basically everyone that was at his 1 year birthday). And then another during the week (probably Thursday afternoon) for our playgroup friends. My mom and MIL will be in town for the week so I'll have help and they'll get to meet our playgroup friends (they already know most of the other friends that will be here). As much as I wanted to just have 1 party, that would have meant 15 toddlers and I really think a smaller gathering will be better for Brady. This also means we'll have Brady's birthday on the 22nd just to ourselves which is nice. Now I just need to find a theme.
Birthday Gifts: I applaud those of you that haven't bought gifts. We don't need to because DS gets so many from everyone else in the family, but I end up getting him some things. I think I might wait until after DS's birthday this year and see what he gets (I was originally intending to get a trike, but now I think we're going to wait until Christmas). I have no idea what anyone else is planning on getting him.
Shoe Size: It's time for us to go in again to get measured. Last time we were there, DS had one foot that was 6.5 and the other than was 7. His feet have definitely grown some...I'm planning to go sometime this week. Its time to get some sandals for summer anyway.
Height/Doubling: We are a little off with our ped appts but B was 33 1/3" at 21 months. Regardless, that puts him around 5'6 or 5'7" but I'm hoping he'll be somewhat taller than that. DH is around 5'10" and most the men in my family around around 5'9 or 5'10"

Thank you, oh brilliant threadmistresses! :D
And since it has been a while ;) ... a POOP question:
What does sudden bright leaf green poop mean in a 2 year old? I am talking GREEN. It caught me off guard today, and I was wondering if it meant something....TIA!
Also...
How do you all do Time Outs? Or 'punish'/get across to DC he did something naughty?
We had a very naughty episode today (actually, 2), then he started doing it more vigorously when I yelled at him to stop. My taking him to the corner, holding him sitting while in Stern Mom Voice telling him he upset me, it was naughty, etc didn't work. Neither did my turning off Robotz or telling him I was too sad about what he did to play with him. My independant player just shrugged me off and went off to play by himself happily  . HELP!

jrdhbunny, Liz, Aunt Liv, sasha, Alicia, and alienhost ~ Thank you. It's a combination of poor quality hay, grain, and nursing. Today DH was talking to a friend of ours and she told him not to worry too much about our mare just yet. She said to start worrying if she looked like this at 6 wks PP. It's normal because she hasn't had a colt for 4 years (I think it's been 5 years but DH doesn't), the colt is a late one, and the hay issues.
Aunt Liv ~ She's so big! I can't believe that our little ones are looking so big now! I'm still in amazement that my little princess is going to be 2 in about a month.
Happy Belated Birthday to Sam and Nic!!
Happy Birthday, Douglas!!

Green Poo: Hmm...my thought would be Fruity Pebbles or some other brightly colored cereal or lots of green veggies?
Flashcards: I'm taking Aidan out of day care for the summer to stay home with me but I want to continue working with her. Today when I picked her up from day care they were working on flashcards and Aidan was doing super well on them so I want to get her some for home. Anyone know of any good ones?

Kim: It sounds like Thomas and Jackson had the same day -- NAUGHTY! He got in major trouble at school for the first time and was just a terror all night. Nothing worked here either -- no sweet/nice, no TO, no corner, no ignoring, etc. We are exhausted.
Tgray: Let me go see the names of the ones downstairs -- Touch and Feel...I'll get the brand for you.

Happy B-day Douglas and Sarah! :) More two-year-olds!
Tara- Love the pics. :)
Time Out- Ummm, yeah. Like Kim said, my "stern mom voice" and some time in the chair only made Abbey laugh. So, I took her into our powder room, removed the toilet paper and trash can and shut her in for 2 minutes. I know that sounds horrible (:o ), but it did the trick. Now I just mention "time out" and she stops the offending behavior. We'll see how long that lasts. ;) But seriously, I think the difference was that she cannot see me in the powder room and cannot get out. Wow, that sounds harsh!!

Man, I wish we had a house!
We can't send him to his room for a time out - he doesn't have one. He's sleeping in his crib that is stuck in the tv room, which has too much stuff to let him loose in there. And the powder room is the only place to keep the litter box, which he has way too much interest in (though that is a good idea!). Maybe I should buy a small folding chair to make his "time out" seat?? Anyone do this?
Oh, and regarding the green poop; he ate nothing artifically colored, no juice, and almost nothing green yesterday. I am at a loss!

I am going to try the bathroom time-out. I wonder if maybe that will work because the stairs are not cutting it anymore.

Yup, it's called the "Thinking Chair" where she goes to think about what she did and being a sweet girl. The thinkin' chair is in the entry hall so there's nothing interesting to see or do. My mom used this on my brother and me pretty frequently when we were little.
Pictures: Love that baby wedgie! :D

green poop: Oh gosh, Landon has a random green pooping for no apparent reason from time to time, I have no clue what triggers it???
time-out:alicia, SUCH a good idea, I will be trying that tomorrow (ha! already anticipating a T.O.!!!). I can see why that would work with these little stinkers. Good idea girl!!!
trgray: LOVE the wedgie pic., that is the best thing about little girls and bathing suits, she'll surely love you for that pic. in a few years! :) Too cute.
flash cards: hm, maybe I need to invest in some, sounds like something Landon would like.
b-day party: The planning is well underway. The invites went out last week and we've been getting rsvp's already (surprising, people usually are horrible at rsvp'ing). His party is a "beach ball" theme, the kid loves balls of any kind and I found some cute card stock w/ beach balls, so I went with that. Far cry from his inababycarriage invites that I did last year.lol My plan was to keep it small, but even at that, we're at around 45 people invited. Oh well...
threadmistress: Thank you for fixing the old threads.
If anyone wants to get sad, go back and read what we were talking about a year ago, or even further back, I was reading posts from when they were Reece's age. How does the time go so fast??? So sad. :( But also, very cool to see how far they've come. :)

Tara,
LOL...that picture is hilarious. What a cute little bum!
ahavnes,
That's actually not a bad idea. The stairs stopped working for us weeks ago for all the same reasons. I think I'm going to give it a shot next time.
Flash Cards,
Just bought a set of Touch & Feel ones at TRU last week before our trip. Caroline loved them.
Birthday Party,
Regardless of starting to plan this shindig months ago, I'm really slacking on the execution of the plans. I've been struggling with nausea on and off (already?!) and have been sooo tired. We finally booked the clubhouse this week so sometime this week we need to print the invitations and mail them out. psusna, I may have to hire you to come down and be my party coordinator. ;)

BDay Party
T's is actually in 3 weeks, a week after his actual bday since no one could make that party. But we'll be celebrating anyway, since jessiesmama's party for her DD is on his actual bday...she knows we'll be stealing an extra slice of cake ;).
However...I haven't done a darn thing. I got him a couple small gifts, but I haven't decidded the theme, ordered any decor, ordered a cake, nothing. Sigh. I am such a procrastinator these days!
Time out Chair
We're headed to target this morning, so I'll look for something. I have to assume he's going to do something naughty again soon  so I'd like to be prepared, lol!

Time-outs - We've been doing ours on the bottom steps, right behind the gate. I like the bathroom or chair ideas though because it dawned on Sarah that she can climb up the steps and doesn't have to stay there - it was a good place while it lasted. ;)
Flashcards - Have some at home but I'll have to check on the brand. My friend who gave them to her said she got them at Barnes & Noble. They are great though, and also good for traveling.
Tgray - Hehe, love those cheeks!
Alien - Thanks for fixing the links!
Birthday party photos! - We had her party at the Little Gym that we belong to and it was great. After her party, our families went to my ILs house for what we refered to as the "after-party" and the kids ran around the backyard and we ate by the pool. It was all quite nice and Sarah had so much fun with her family and friends.

Liz: You'll be fine! You have a ton of great ideas and if there is anything that I can do long distance, you know I'll be glad to lend a "paw" ;) Seriously, I'm not kidding!! BTW -- how is the toddler bed going? I know we are close to making the switch with J and I'm getting nervous.....
Aunt Liv: Maia is a doll!!! She is so cute with that cupcake.
Sasha: Cute pictures! I've been meaning to ask, how has Sarah been doing at daycare? Any more biting? I ask b/c something similar happened with J yesterday and I'm just crushed. I thought after ALL the times he has been bit that he would not do it. I'm confused. We gave him a few ideas last night for different ways to respond when someone tries to take his food, etc. (using his words instead of actions) so we'll see what happens.....
Anyone have a cute kid's bathroom?!? I'm getting ready to redo our guest bathroom into JMan's bathroom and would love to see any creative ideas you ladies have :) I found a bunch of super cute shower curtains at Target but can't make up my mind.

I am afraid to say, for fear I may jinx myself, but Ladnon is feeling SOOOO much better and waking up in a great mood, sans the meltdown the minute his eyes pop open, it was quite a rough patch for the past couple of weeks.

Aunt Liv,
Ack...I totally forgot to comment on the pictures (is it possible for preggo brain to kick in this early?). Maia is such a little beauty! And I agree, she looks so mature for her age.
Kim,
You amaze me. I can't even imagine planning a party while caring for a newborn. I'll stop complaining now. ;)
Ally,
Caroline does the hitting thing too, but usually as a joke or testing her limits. Her new thing she does when she gets mad at us is "No NO, Mommy!" while pointing her finger threateningly at us and pouting out her bottom lip. It's so cute, I can't help but turn my head and smile.
Sasha,
LOVE the picture of Sarah on her trike, sportin' a pair of shades. Adorable!
psusna,
Thanks! :) After my SOS post, I quickly hurried myself placing all my last minute orders on party supplies. It will come through in the end. My one big worry is that I'll have a bad m/s day the day I have to bake/decorate her cake. Please let me get thr
