Cost of home inspection?

I was just wondering what you paid for your inspection. I noticed in another thread that someone paid $300.

Ours was around $250 I think.

Ours was $350 (2 years ago), but it depends on the area and type of property being inspected. Also, inspectors are unofficially categorized into quality of inspection ratings in our area, and their prices are different.

Thanks, ladies. I just wanted to be sure that a price we were quoted was realistic (DH's dad did the inspection on the property for which we cancelled our previous contract, and he's out of town on vacation).

Look for ASHE certification (not sure if I got the acronym right).

Ours was $250, but I asked for a radon test at the last minute, which was another $100 or so.

We've been told due to the age of the houses we are looking at and the size to expect $400-500 for our inspection.

That's interesting. We have an older home and it's very large. Our inspection cost $225. That was the same price as it would have been for other homes in the area.
