I saw a piece on GMA earlier about "viral video," video that spreads from person to person online. It made me think of my favorite one, OK Go's Here It Goes Again (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/Victoria+Beckham+s+epilepsy+guilt-12437.html) (on treadmills), which happens to be a music video. What were your faves? They can be any kind of video clip.
ETA: please post a link so we can share the joy. :)
Not sure if it counts since I first saw it "live" on SNL, but the uncensored version was only online: "Dick in a Box" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dmVU08zVpA) for sure.
Followed by the Beijing Boys lipsynching to Backstreet Boys.

I finally saw "Dick in a Box" last night and was disappointed because I'd heard so much about it and it didn't live up to the hype for me. :(

Easily, my top three are:
The Mother's Day video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKXFqGUGdTk) ("PUT ON A TIE!" "FINE!") - I still laugh when I watch this one.
Lazy Sunday (Chroni-What?-cles of Narnia) from SNL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzSRVrczA9s)
and of course,
D*** in a Box (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WOwRQ3Iib4) from SNL two weeks ago. (The lyrics aren't necessarily SFW, so be warned.) Hubby likes to sing it into my voicemail - he thinks it's hilarious, and I get the song stuck in my head all the time. :p
My top favourite video of the year isn't online, but it's a clip of my 10-year old son, last week at his school Christmas concert, busted singing his own made up lyrics to "We wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year" - who knew the zoom on my videocamera was THAT good. ;) The look on his face when we watched the video, and he realized we could read lips, will go down as one of the best moments of 2006, hands down.

Dick in a Box and This clip (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2397532802194226883) of two guys impersonating the Backstreet Boys. I have a much better clip of this (the one I've linked to is really blury mine is very clear), though I can't find it online. That kid in the background playing on the computer is the funniest of all. He's like, "Eh who cares?" Never turns around. And at the end, the guy (on the left) who practically rolls his eyes back in his head is hilarious! It's long, but worth it! I love the head movement and what is he wiping off his nose in the beginning?! The facial expressions are priceless, catch when the guy on the right sticks his tongue out too!

DH and I love that video! We used to watch it all the time.
There were so many great videos this year. I loved the Scientology orientation videos (which were all on YouTube but were quickly taken down). Some guy went into the recruitment center in L.A. and sat through their video orientation with a hidden camera and then posted it all online. Man, it was WACKY, WACKY stuff. But since it's no longer online, you may enjoy the Scientology security guys (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qLZJBdvqAv8) video.
ETA: I found the Scientology videos on Google. Link (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3463204714566011542&q=Scientology+Orientation&hl=en)
Also, I loved Lazy Sunday and D*ck in a Box from SNL.
And this 1970s music video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=eTKL8MNH95Q) from a group called Apache made me laugh so hard I cried the first time I saw it. It is the cheesiest, craziest thing. People in my office were going around saying "Apache!" for weeks.
And let's not forget the two awesome David Hasselhoff music videos that circulated this year: Hooked on a Feelin' (http://youtube.com/watch?v=LKu_QA8Bn9o) and Jump in My Car (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ibEdNCLyirE). Wow-- so craptacular!

Me too. There's a funny clip on You Tube and I have it bookmarked. I watch it anytime I need a good laugh. She cracks me up right before that with, "George is protected the country....we gotta live with SARDS....we gotta live with F'in anthrax...." And then the faces she makes just make it even funnier. What really makes me laugh is she is so adamant about what she's saying, and then she comes out with, "Kiss my ass."

I used it a lot at school (I was a MS teacher); I would hook up my laptop to the TV in my classroom and I would spend one Friday every few months going over cool pop-culture things of days gone by. I taught choir, so I used to do things like pull up old music videos (Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, etc), the old Gap commercials that were based off of West Side Story, and other stuff like that. I always previewed everything, of course. ;) We would spend a class period learning the dance to "Thriller", or researching "We Didn't start the Fire" references.

i asked my future sil who is from the phillipines about the video bc i didn't believe it was real. she told me that it is from the new rehabilitation program that the cebu provincial gov't (one of the largest cities in the phillipines) is launching. to help support that program they had a media event where they showcased dances, native crafts and other livelihood programs offered by the prison that's supposed to help the prisoners improve their lives. i admit i am skeptical when i see things like this showcasing prisoners as i wonder if this is a way to deflect actual prison treatment problems as i don't think the philippines has the best reputation for their treatment of prisoners.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZoyfhG0Wwk) that's been referenced on other threads made me notice this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RADYaTvTGts) from the same campaign. Very short, featuring little girls.
It brings tears to my eyes, probably because I have a daughter similar in age to the ones featured in the ad. It breaks my heart to hear her - a bright, athletic, musically accomplished little girl - complain about her freckles, her short stature, and the downy hair on her arms, of all things! When someone mistakes her for a younger child, or points out that she's "a peanut" and shorter than average, it just devastates her. Girls find so much to pick at themselves about - not just "oh, I'm fat." So sad.

So this may be a bit of shameless self-promotion, but last night I figured out how to upload videos to uTube and how to use iMovie and made a little photo slide show featuring my stuffed lemur. He's my travel buddy and I've multiple states, countries and continents with him. Every place I go, he goes and I take posed pictures of him. Usually he's drinking and causing a ruckus. So I had to make the background song "Rehab" by amy winehouse. Anyways. I find it hillarious. :)

Some of the events were funny, like looking for an ironic thrift store t shirt and a disc toss (throwing a record by a cool band who sold out).

Not actually on YouTube, but I just had to post this video (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2t3al_gtltornt9_music)of the LA Phil's new conductor (he begins in 2009), Gustavo Dudamel, conducting the Venezuela Youth Orchestra. I've never seen anything like it, and my entire career's been in classical music. The energy of this performance is amazing. She's been playing violin since age four, and now - at nearly 12 (and occasionally feeling like her music is not "cool" enough) - it's great for her to see things like this, especially when the musicians aren't that much older than she is.
Thanks for posting it.
