I posted this in the Hurricane Thread, but I am not sure it sees a lot of action, so I thought it would be appropriate to place it here too. :)

We're tryng to be proactive about Hurricane Season this year, so after a lot of research we're having these (3M Window Films) (http://www.3m.com/us/arch_construct/scpd/prestige/residential.html) installed on Friday. Since it's before hurricane season it only takes about 2 weeks to get the installation appointment and they are about 50% less than they would be during hurricane season. (During hurricane season it takes about 2 months in Tampa Bay to get an installation appointment. Not sure how other areas of the state/country are.) I believe that this also lowers cost on homeowner's insurance, but I am calling to make sure on that. They also protect (http://www.3m.com/us/arch_construct/scpd/prestige/safety_security.html) the contents of your home from UV Rays, protect from burglars and so on. They're put through a bunch of tests including bomb blasts and have a lifetime warranty. Depending on the type of hurricane shutter, they can also be a lot less expensive.

Just thought I'd share. June will be upon us before we know it!
