My mom just had a mammagram and was digonsed with micro Breast calcifications. I know they are going to do a bispoy and the chances of cancer are slim but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this. Thanks

I had a mass and calcifications almost three years ago - the biopsy came back fine and I've had clear mammograms ever since (I go back every 6 months given my family history).
It was a very nerve wracking experience - they actually did a stereotactic biopsy that came back inconclusive and I had to go in for a lumpectomy, which was terrifying.
I wish your mom luck..I am sure everything will turn out fine.

My mom has frequent calcifications. She always goes to the dr, and he always biopsies her and checks it out. She goes yearly. A few years ago, she was having some pain and assumed it was just more calcifications. Her's had never hurt before, so she went to the dr. about 6 months before her yearly. He told her he was 99% sure it was nothing, but would biopsy anyway. Yeah, it was cancerous. But! It hadn't spread to her lymph nodes and it was caught super easy and she is fully recoverd now! :D So, they usually aren't a big deal, but it is definitely worth keeping your eye on.

Thanks for starting this thread! You know, I almost started the same topic earlier this week when I found out - after my very first mammo - I have microcalcifications and have to go for a stereotactic biopsy on Tuesday.
Keep us posted on your mom: good luck to her, and I hope she gets a clean bill of health.

I have had cancer a few times and I have calcifications in my lungs because of the chemotherapy. I have been perfectly fine and they have caused no issues at all.
Positive thoughts to your mom. I think everything will be okay. :)

Not sure yet. She spoke to her OB and he refered her to a specialst but they didn't call her back today so she assumes she will hear from them on monday

Hi ladies,
Just wanted to check in and let you know I had my biopsy on Tuesday as scheduled and got my results back today: BENIGN! :)
The biopsy was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, but I also wouldn't rank it in my top 100 favorite ways to spend my time. I think the anticipation leading up to and then the waiting for the results was more stressful than the actual procedure. Fortunately, I haven't gotten black & blue and have really only had the most minimal of discomfort.
My favorite part of the whole thing, though, had to be when they kept telling me, "Ok now, don't move!". I was like, "Where the heck do you think I'm going with my boob squished in a vice!?"
Allyray - I hope your mom's experience is like mine, including the biopsy results.
Thanks again to all for the well-wishing.

Ally - Continually thinking good thoughts for your mom. I hope her biopsy went smoothly and the results come back with good news. If the doctor told her to only use an ice pack for the first 24 hours, tell your mom to use it longer: I wound up bruising 3-4 days later!
Cr8zy - Thanks (again)!

Thanks ladies she had her bisopy and they took 10 samples (OUCH!) she should know something tomorrow. They seemed confidant which is good.
Thanks for the tip about the ice pack

Hooray! That's great news, Allyray!!
I actually just had my recheck with the surgeon today and got to take the bandage & dressing off, and if your mom's surgeon was as good as mine, tell her not to worry about scarring either. :)
