Hope everyone is doing well. I myself had a rough night, not sure if it's the MS or dinner but not feeling so hot for at least 3 hours last night.

My mom is suppose to be coming to town today, she hasn't seen Easton since December before we went to the Grand Canyon.

Finished packing up just about everything for the trip, have 3 things to add to the bag and put formula in a baggie and the major bags are done. Just have the diaper bag to pack and we leave on Saturday late afternoon for Disney World.

BTW - I hate April's Fool's Jokes

DS has been teething BIG TIME!!! DS sleep is now screwy as all get out, too. DS goes down now between 10 and 12 (yikes!) and has been sleeping until 9:30 a.m. GRRRR. Will his sleep ever go back to normal??? Sheesh.

Yay for the new thread!

I agree... asterisks=annoying. I guess this is a good time for ** to spend the day away from CC like I have been meaning to do....

Tristan slept great last night. 8pm - 6am, ate, and then slept until 9.

His gums are definitely bothering him today and while chewing on a teether they started to bleed a little. No now in place of drool on everything there is bloody drool on everything.

I just stopped by CC to look up info on mastitis and had to wrap my brain around all the wierd posts, ugh. Off to drink some water and take some pain killers...

Simon is 5 months old today! And, he started sitting up yesterday- he's gone over a minute on his own now!

Hi all. I too can't believe we are at the 6 month mark. Connor will be 6 months in a couple of weeks. He is rolling like crazy, sitting up and trying to crawl. He wants to move move move. I hope everyone is doing well!

Yeah for a new thread!

And, I was wondering what all those asterisks were about ...

I think Ada is popping a tooth. I can feel it, but it's not her front tooth. It's a side one on the right side. Weird. She's drooling like crazy.

Lots of rolling, but still only back to stomach. She can sit for a good half hour at a time, and she's loves being in the exersaucer. She figured out how to rock it this weekend.

I ran into my dr. at a restaurant in town this weekend. That was weird. Hard to socially interact with someone who's looked up your hooha on many an occasion. :)

Funny story about that! We usually go to the late morning service at our church, but then one day we went for the early service. My dr was there! Imagine running in to a person that's "looked up your hooha" when you're standing in church! It just seemed weird. LMAO!

Logan's sleep is getting worse. I have no idea WHAT is going on. It's frustrating the bejesus out of me. What happened to me little boy that slept 11 hours straight? Then, he went to getting up around 1am for a bottle.

NOW! He goes down, gets up around 10:30 screaming and just wants to be cuddled a little bit and goes right back to sleep, then gets up at 12:30 and wants to eat, then occassionally gets up again at 2:30.

Does anyone have any clue what this could be about? I pretty much wanted to kill myself yesterday. Yesterday he was already off-kilter ... it was an exceptionally moody day for him so I was exhausted from having to tend to his neediness the whole day, and then only got four hours sleep from all of his up and down.

OMG ... I'm so stinkin' tired!

In other news, this happened kind of suddenly ... we are moving ... IN FOUR WEEKS.

It's only a minute and a half (LITERALLY) from where we live now. It's still just a rental at this point, but it's NOT an apartment complex! WOO HOO! It's a brand-new single home - - 3 BR, 2 Ba.

Very exciting ... but I'm suddenly feeling very stressed, and a little shocked at the whirlwind in which it happened.

maplekitty ~ I thought about that, but he's pretty much refusing bottles. I forgot to mention that. He does eat once when he gets up in the middle of the night (and that bottle is the easiest one for him to take), but the other 1-2 times he just wants to be cuddled. And part of why yesterday was so frustrating is because he hasn't been wanting his bottle, so it takes pretty much an act of congress to get him to eat.

ETA: Unless this is leading up to his growth spurt. ??? I do vaguely remember him acting all crazy the week before his last growth spurts.

I was just coming in here to complain about sleeping! My wonderful sleeper is no longer! She was up all night. We ended up putting her in bed with us and she still did not sleep well! I'm exhausted today.

Has anybody gone through phases where their DC is having poopy diapers all the time? Madison is having about 4 or 5 a day. She usually has one, two at the most. I have no idea what's going on. For the most part, she has been in good spirits but drooling a lot. I keep wondering if she is teething but I still don't see any teeth ready to pop. Do you guys think that I should be worried about the diapers?

I hope that everybody is having a good Monday!

Has anybody gone through phases where their DC is having poopy diapers all the time?

YES! Logan was either once a day, or once every other day. Now, he has had 3 a day for about 4 days! What is that about!? I'm going to mention it to the dr since we have a 6mo WBV tomorrow.

So, now that you guys keep reminding me of all these oddities, it sounds like Logan is really in some kind of phase. All at once I have:
- Increased BM diapers
- Refusal of bottles and eating less
- Messed up nighttime sleep (waking up more)

What the heck is this?! It's killing me!

Add me to the list of crappy sleepers. Not that Ada has ever really STTN consistently, but now she's back to getting up around 1. Last night, it was 1 and 2:30 and then she slept till 6.

I've got to remind myself of this as well, but night waking can come from developmental milestones, too. Whenever you're baby is about to do something big, like sitting up, crawling, etc., they'll wake up more. One theory is that they're so interested in doing the new activity that they don't want to sleep. Anyway, thought I'd throw that idea out into the universe ...

Poor Tristan had a rough evening. It was our fault. We went to a cookout at BIL's house and stayed too long. He got so crabby until I ptu him in our nephew's crib and he fell asleep. Then all hell broke loose when we took him out of there to go home. Poor guy.

Once we got home I fed him a couple ounces and he sort of wimpered himself to sleep. He didn't want to be held or touched. He just wanted to be left alone. :( I felt so sad, like he doesn't need me anymore. :(

Definitely. I keep reminding myself of that, too ... as Logan HAS been working very hard at pulling himself to a sit and trying to get the knee/leg motion of the crawl. But ... grrrr! It's been going on for so long. LOL ... can you tell I'm an immediate gratification type of person? HA!

Rippy,

Found this article ... it's pretty good.

“But She Used to Sleep All Night!”
The ability to sleep through the night can be temporary
By Holly Bennett

If your baby started walking on her own, walked every day for two months and then suddenly stopped, you might be worried. You’d also be concerned if she suddenly seemed to “forget” how to pick up the toys she used to grasp with confidence. Most of a baby’s physical milestones, once mastered, are there for life. Your baby may lose interest in sitting when she discovers the thrill of crawling, but she won’t lose the ability to sit once she’s got it.

The exception to the rule? Sleep. Actually, there may be several exceptions, but this must be the cruellest. The hard cold fact is the ability to sleep through the night can be temporary.

Just ask Ronda Appell. She and her husband “were in heaven” when their second baby, Nicholas, began sleeping through the night at two months. His big sister, Gabrielle, had taken a lot longer — more than a year longer — so they thought they’d hit the jackpot.

“Our bliss lasted one month,” recalls Appell. “Then Nicholas started waking again, sometimes four or more times a night. Thankfully, he has now [at nine months] settled into a more manageable twice-a-night routine.” But why? Why does a baby who sleeps well suddenly become a baby who sleeps poorly? Or, perhaps more accurately, why does a baby, who soothes himself back to sleep after the normal arousals we all experience at night, start to cry out for his parents again?

“Who knows? There are just so many variables,” says child psychotherapist and Today’s Parent columnist Janet Morrison. “We drive ourselves nuts with questions like this.”

That said, many parents do feel that certain events can trigger a return to night waking. The most common culprits: teething, colds, separation anxiety and the onset of new physical skills, such as standing.

Teething: Elisabeth Gillies, 11 months old, “started out as a great sleeper,” reports her mother, Christine. She began sleeping through at two months old. But “when she’s getting teeth, her sleep really suffers. It makes going to sleep very hard and she also wakes a lot.” When she seems to be teething, her parents rock Elisabeth to sleep several times a night and sometimes give her acetaminophen for pain relief. “Once the worst passes, she goes right back to her old sleep patterns,” says Gillies. “She will drift off herself and sleep ten to 12 hours a night.”

Colds: Jake Robinson was sleeping through a very civilized ten hours a night. Then, at seven months, “he got a cold, then two more colds.” Now at ten months, says his mom, Justine, “He wakes up every few hours and stands there wailing. Yes, his colds are gone. He goes back to sleep only if I get him out, go sit in the rocking chair and rock for ten or 15 minutes.”

Separation anxiety: A two-month-old baby may find it easier to drift back to sleep in the night because he doesn’t have such a well-defined attachment to you. As he comes to associate his “near and dear” people with comfort and safety, he is more likely to panic when he wakes and you’re not there. This upset may peak somewhere around eight months, when the baby’s dawning realization that you can leave him behind causes a burst of anxiety.

Rebecca Hardy’s daughter, Mackenzie, was a great sleeper from two months on. “She never woke in the night for teeth,” says Hardy. “But she did for separation anxiety, big time. We could not leave the room without her crying. At about seven or eight months, she, out of the blue, would not go to bed. She would stand up in her crib screaming. This happened even in the middle of the night. So we had to start rocking her to sleep before she would go down.” Hardy notes that at this same stage, Mackenzie “hated strangers of any kind.”

Eventually Hardy and her husband decided to put an end to the rocking and try to persuade Mackenzie to stay in her bed at night. “We just stayed with her and tried to ease her crying. A big trick was I would send dad to her room, rather than me, and that worked better. I’m at home and she got attached to me, so if I went in she’d see me and scream for me.” Within a couple of months, things settled back down. Mackenzie, now 15 months, sleeps peacefully once more.

Developmental milestones: When a baby is working on a new skill, her body seems to want to work at it all night long. This leads to some really restless nights for some kids. Elisabeth Gillies is a great example: “As each new milestone is reached,” says her mom, “she seems to do it over and over and over in her sleep — sitting up, crawling, now standing. She wakes herself constantly! As the novelty wears off, she sleeps better again.”

Standing can be a real problem because a baby will learn to pull herself up before she knows how to sit back down, so she gets herself “stranded” at the crib rail: “She was up and crying before she was even awake,” says Gillies. “We tried laying her back down, but more often we would rock her. She has just learned to sit back down confidently, so she is settling herself again.” Sometimes, of course, all these factors coincide, causing a run of horror-show nights for even the soundest sleeper. Other events — starting daycare, moving or travelling, shifting sleep routines — can also upset that delicate equilibrium. Often you won’t know what the cause is until it’s too late. “I thought Andreas was waking up because of separation anxiety, because I had stopped nursing,” says Jeni Schmitt. “Then a week later, a couple of teeth popped out. And once they were through, he went back to his old pattern.”

Whatever the trigger(s), the result is sometimes a baby who seems to have “forgotten” how to sleep through. The temptation — and fallacy — is to start thinking, “If only he hadn’t cut those teeth/caught that cold/had to sleep with us in that stupid motel with the unusable crib, he would be sleeping fine.” Babies do get colds, work hard on new skills, grow teeth, become unsettled by change and go through periods when they cling to their parents. That’s not a disruption of normal — that is normal. It’s what they have to do to grow up.

Once the ear infection or vacation is over, it’s time to consider what, if anything, can or should be done to encourage more peaceful nights. Depending on the severity of the problem, your child’s temperament and your own parenting beliefs, you might choose to continue rocking or sleeping with your child for as long as he wants it, try to “train” him to be more independent at night, or something in between.

“I think we need to keep our expectations low,” advises Morrison. “It’s very tough to get a baby to sleep through and leave you alone all night.” Morrison suspects there are “very, very few” babies who really do sleep through consistently in the first year. “I just know that if you have a baby who doesn’t call for you in the night, you are blessed.”

rippy (and others) I feel your pain! Now with DS, we know why he's not sleeping as well--we finally moved him from his basinette (in the very dark guest bathroom) to his crib in DD's room (much brighter during the day). It is getting better, but he isn't sleeping as much as he used to. This morning he woke up at 6:15 and was pretty grouchy from about 7-8 when I finally got him back to sleep. He also refuses the bottle at times, I think it's his way of fighting sleep since he always has a bottle before he goes to bed. DH thinks we are the only ones who have a child who refuses the bottle and who requires a great effort to get to eat solids (unless it's sweet potatoes).

In other news, we are building a house! I'm a little scared about the huge mortgage we are going to have, but if our current house sells for what it's appraised for, we will make a lot of money on it, which will help. Our neighbor just sold his house in 8 days, so I guess the housing market in our area isn't in that big of a slump. We spent all day Saturday at Home Depot Expo trying to choose things.

jbemommy ~ Wow! That's so exciting! I'm so jealous! :D

Jenzen ~ Thank you SOOO much for that article. I keep waiting for a darned tooth to pop, because I have heard that, too. Plus ... I know that Logan experiences separation anxiety because I literally have to sneak out of the room when he's not looking so that he doesn't cry. So ... I guess he's just experiencing a lot of things at once that is causing so many days/weeks of sleep problems. Great ... then in 4 weeks we move, and it'll probably get worse.

Poopy diapers - Oh YES! Almost every time I change Lainey's diaper these days, it's poopy! I figured it was from all the new solids she's eating, but maybe not?

We're doing great with the sleep right now...knock on wood. I don't hear a peep out of her for 12 hours. PLEASE don't let me just have jinxed myself!

Sleep--Yeah, lots of problems here, too. I figure it's all teething. We rock him down, but then he gets jostled a bit when we put him in bed, which wakes him up, reminds him his gums hurt! (Or at least, that's our theory!) He goes down much, much later than he used to (around midnight the other day!) and always gets up at least once. However, DS is a very light sleeper, so any little noise will wake him as well.

Poopy diapers--Most definitely. They too are a result of teething.

Teething--Well, I figured I should have this category since my other two posts related to it! LOL. Since I *think* I'm the only one or one of 2-3 who can actually see two teeth starting to break through, I can tell ya that the poopy diapers have been going on for about a MONTH and are still going on! The sleep issue just started happening once the little corners came through though. We ended up buying some Baby Orajel and DS doesn't like it (hilarious faces he makes!) but we put it on before bed the last two nights and he went down better.

jbemommy and Rippy--Congrats to you both on the houses!! Yay!!

In news here, I decided to buy oatmeal the other day since he seems to hate rice cereal. I'm waiting a few days between them to start though.

DH came home from work "sick" today and I'm vaguely annoyed, because it's frustrating to have him home during *my* time, KWIM? Plus, since he's home, I'd like to leave DS with him and run errands, etc, but then he says "well, you're used to being fussed at all day, so you need to take him with you." GRRRRRRR. And, if he won't take DS, he can't come with me and DS because we live 3 blocks from his work, and so he has to stay home! Why oh why do men do this??? Auuugh!

Glad to know the sleep issue isn't just in our house. She was doing so good and now the last couple of nights she has been up every 1-2 hours. I feel like a walking zombie. I thought at first it was because she is getting over her first cold and still a little congested. But now I'm starting to wonder if it's teeth. She has been knawing on her fingers like crazy and the drool seems to have increased (although I didn't think that was possible).

However, pooping has been opposite for us. She is one who usually goes 2 or 3 times a day. However she's gone once in 48 hours. Very rare for her. I was actually a little concerned until she finally did go a little this morning.

Robyn is 6 months old today! :D I can't believe our babies are half a year old! Where did the time go??

So we were having some eating issues with Robyn, I guess since she realized she doesnt like peas that I was giving ehr, she was associating every solids meal with peas and just flat out refused to eat. So I stopped solids for a week and just let her tummy a rest and hoped that she would forget about peas. We gave her some oatmeal and banana last night and she gobbled it right up, LOL. She's actually get much better at opening her mouth wide. Also Robyn is starting to hold her own bottle when I feed her, It's cute, she'll pull it out of her mouth and then stick it back in, and then out and in. Takes longer to finish the bottle but she's pretty proud of herself ;D

I was just coming here to post about poop as well. AJ has pooped 4 times today and he's been an every other day kinda guy lately. I was wondering if it had to do with the bananas I gave him this morning, but I thought bananas were supposed to bind you up? He's also had rice cereal and sweet potatoes. I tried avacados as suggested by a friend and the book Super Baby Food, but he would have nothing to do with it. I don't blame him; they didn't look all that appetizing to me either. Has anyone given their DC avacado? Did they like it?

Tristan hated Orajel at first but now he is used to it. He doesn't make a funny face at all any more and it *really* helps when his gums are bothering him. A lot of people told me Orajel didn't work so I was wondering if it would or not.

Easton has been trying to hold his bottles as well (but since they are 7-8oz a bit heavy) He loves to try and hold it though.

I know lots of babies hate Baby Orajel, I used it on my own tooth once at the daycare I worked at. I was like no wonder they cry and scream the stuff burns for a few seconds. I had to use Orajel before my wisdom teeth got pulled and it still burned. I haven't used any on Easton yet.

Easton got lots of gifts yesterday for his grandparents. My mom got him a car seat toy that he loves, an outfit, pair of shoes, a pair of slippers and duck that quacks. Jarett's parents got him 2 outfits and a bunny.

His mom and grandmother called and said they were happy for us about the new baby. His sister emailed him and congratulated us and then told us she is engaged and marrying next August.

Ericka--Have a blast!!! I get the impression you and your DH are big Disney fans. . . did you ever do the college program? Just curious!

Question: When you all say your DC can sit up on his/her own, do you mean s/he can pull himself up into the position? Or just that they will stay sitting if you put them in the position? My DC still isn't into sitting so much. I keep trying to work on it, he will only sit for about a minute w/o a back support. No moves towards pulling himself up, either. However, he does roll all over the house though, so I'm not *too* worried yet.

no i dont think most babies can pull tehmselves up from laying down until a year old.
Robyn has been sitting up for over a month now so she doesnt lean on her fists anymore. She just sits there contently playing with a toy. She can also reach forward and grab a toy and then sit up straight again, but she's only started doing that recently without falling over again. ocassionally she falls over, but she is pretty sturdy. she usually grabs her feet and sits balancing by holding her feet.

Wow, Maple, Robyn does really well with sitting! DS really doesn't "sit" unless I hold him or prop him up. Sometimes I put him propped up just by his butt on my bed while I fold clothes, and he usually topples over pretty quickly. He just really doesn't like to sit. I try to encourage it a lot, but he usually just ends up sideways. He even throws himself out of his little BebePod! I guess I'll just keep working on it.

He can hold himself up for a short period of time if he's leaning forward though.

Midwestern He sits when I prop him up, most of the time, and his record is really only about a minute or so now. When we took him in for portraits last weekend, the photographer was impressed, saying he was sitting better than some 6-7 mo olds that have come in. So, I'm sure your little guy is doing fine. Simon is so not close to pulling himself into sitting position either, I assure you!

DS will sit for extended time if I position him that way. He cannot yet PULL himself to a sit ... but he has been trying to -- he gets the upper half of his body about 5 inches off the ground now, trying to sit up. It stresses him out that he can't, LOL!

I am a worrywart, and that can really take a toll on the body. I surf CC quite a bit just to have something to occupy my mind so I'm not freaking out a ton. I worry about my weight, MONEY, DS's health, my ILs, about the thought of DC#2, my parents, my sister, everything! Perhaps you need some sort of relaxation, like yoga or meditation to recharge? --Not that I do either of those, though! LOL.

Q: Anyone else have hip pain? It's the sides of my hips, and they feel like I've been doing gymnastics all day long. It just started in the last few weeks. I really didn't have hips before baby. . . my XL tummy just sort of melded into my legs (no hips, no butt). Well, I never got the butt, but I definitely got some hips out of this, and they hurt a ton now! Can anyone help? Thanks!!

DITTO, MWGal! Was wondering ... are you a middle child? ;)

OMFG!!!! I am soooo looking for a new pediatrician ASAP! Last week we were supposed to have our 6mo WBV. We showed up and the whole office was locked up. They CLAIMED that they rescheduled with me, but SORRY ... I'm not that dense. So, then they rescheduled me for in the middle of a frickin' work day (which is why I know they didn't reschedule w/me!), so I had to take a half day yesterday.

We go to our appointment. I tell her all about the problems we've been having (excessive dirty dipes, sleep issues, won't eat, etc). She looks in his mouth and says "hmmm. I thought it would be teething, but he's not getting any teeth yet". Which I thought was strange, because I really felt he was teething. Then she proceeds to tell me that he only keeps getting up because I keep going to get him, and I need to just let him cry. First, I wanted to smack her because she already knows that I can't hack it with the CIO-game, and besides that - - DON'T LAY BLAME ON MY PARENTING STYLE ... is anyone else with me on that, or am I overreacting because I'm irritated with them?! (Which, btw, I don't ALWAYS go get him. It so happens that many times - when he was STTN - I would hear him wake, fuss a little, play a little, babble and sing a little, and then fall back to sleep. But, this was different because he was screaming like there was something drastically wrong, and I'm sorry but any mother would've gone to get him if they had heard him)

So, he gets his shots ...

We go to check out and the woman says "oh, your paperwork isn't ready yet, can I just mail it to you?" WTF!!! How is that possible? It's just a matter of putting his freakin' measurments in the computer!

Then, we get home from the dr and DS "bites" my finger, and I say to DH ... "how can he not be teething when I feel a little bump like there is a tooth cutting?" The night progresses, we have another exceptionally awful night of waking and screaming every two hours.

My dad calls me today (parents watch DS) and says "uh, Logan has a tooth sticking out! He got his first tooth!" ... all excited and happy.

I can't wait to get a new damn ped!

Rippy--Nope, oldest (only 1 sister) with a semi-perfectionist, type-Aish personality!. . . . . .. AND NO, your parenting style is NOT to blame. I have tried to CIO with DS and it doesn't work. DS gets up 1x a night, crying to start with, so leaving him isn't an option. I just take him to bed with me and he conks off again. I would be looking for a new ped ASAP if I were you!

Hello ladies! I have been trying to catch up for the past couple months! You guys move so fast, so I just read the posts in the new thread and gave up on the old one!

Things are going well for us. DS is a little over 6 months now and I just can't believe how fast the time has gone by. Now we will need to start thinking about 1st birthday. Yikes!!!

His 6 months WBV was last week and he is 17lbs 6oz. We call him our chubbikans!:p We started solid (well really just rice cereal) last week and it is going fairly well. I can't wait for him to get totally comfortable with eating solid food.

MichelleRenee: I am so there with you. I was telling hubby the other day that I need 16 hrs of sleep to get back on track. I am in a constant state of tiredness and it is getting old. If only I could get more sleep! It would help if I would get off the net and go to bed I guess. :p

Rippy: That is messed up! I hope you find another pedi soon.

I see that a few people are on there way with #2---- Congrats!:)

OK-- time for bed. I did not even prepare DS bottles or bag tonight. I know that I will hate myself tomorrow but oh well!

Back with another poop question. Last time it was poop all day. Now there's been no poop since then. I know when babies are EBF I read it's ok to go up to 10 days without a bowel movement. Now that AJ has started solids, when should I be concerned? It's been 2 days, Thursday afternoon will make it 3.

AmyS - I've been dealing with the same thing. DD used to go 1 or 2x a day, lately its been 3-4 days between poops. I get so anxious and worried everytime. She's been eating rice/veggies for a few weeks, and that is part of it. I think the longest was 4 days. I was getting right to the point of calling the Ped. I think I my limit would have been 4 or 5 days before calling. She seemed fine and her stomach wasn't hard, so I felt okay still. But just a warning - the past few times have been VERY messy. Up the back, the front, out both legs. I actually put dd in the sink and sprayed her off. I couldn't believe so much came out of someone so little!!!

Rippy Can't believe your (ex) Ped!! Wow. Hope you find a great new one!

Thanks girls for the sentiments about my ped. Sorry about the long-ish vent in here, I was just so mad! Now that I know what's going on, we gave him the Baby Orajel before bed last night and he only got up twice ... so much better! :D Now that I got that out of my system, I can be excited about his first tooth - - YAY! :)

BM issues after solids (Mrs. Mac / AmyS) ~ When you guys started solids, did you also start any juice? When we started cereal, I also started giving him about 1 oz of juice mixed with about an 1 to 1-1/2 oz water with one meal a day ... that has kept DS fairly regular. Just a thought if you guys were worried! If you are already doing the juice ... um, I'm out of ideas. LOL! :p

Easton is 7 months today

Sorry about the stupid ped Rippy.

As for the no poop in days, rice cereal does that, its constipating. When we switched to oatmeal it made things regular again

No juice yet. I was thinking of having her try plums/prunes. The ped did say rice cereal was constipating, but bf babies don't normally have problems. She gets oatmeal in the morning and rice in the evening. Maybe I'll have her try barely and do barely and oatmeal and stop the rice.

And speaking of messy messy diapers. Yup, just had one. And she went yesterday so i wasn't expecting it to be so bad. It was everywhere! Yuck!

Rippy Wow, you seriously need a new ped. I can't believe that! Glad that the orajel is working for better sleep. Teeth already! Which one is it?

AmyS Simon's gone as long as 3 days, but he's still EBF, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Watch out when it does come though, woah! Have you done bananas? Those can be binding.

Mrs-Mac Cute bunny hat on your girl. Her eyes are incredible, so blue.

That is so strange that everyone has so many problems with the rice. Logan doesn't have any BM issues with the rice at all .... but we have stopped giving Logan any oatmeal whatsoever. Every time I give him oatmeal he gets super cranky, sleep gets messed up, and BMs get messed up.

Just more evidence of how different one baby can be from another, eh? LOL!

Took DS to the mall yesterday. I had him dressed up in the cutest little warm-up suit. He pooped and it leaked out the legs on the way there, so he was stuck in my back-up sleeper in the diaper bag the rest of the day. Go figure!! I don't know why I try to get him all cute sometimes! LOL.

So yesterday I discovered a great game for DS. He really likes my oversize water mug (has a lid and straw on it). So I'd put it on the floor about 3 feet away from him. He would then proceed to do a series of rolls, slides, and 1/2 crawls to get to it. As soon as he'd get there, I'd say "yay," let him grab it for a few minutes, then move it again!! We did this for about 45 minutes. It really wore the kid out. But it was fun to see how he'd get over to it. I think if I keep playing this game, he'll be crawling by the end of April. We'll see!!

What is everyone's Easter plans? We're going to my parents. They're cooking for us, and we're all goign to church. I had a cute Gymboree outfit, but now that the weater dropped 30 degrees, I think I'll have to find something else for him to wear!!

We are having dinner at the Whispering Canyon and will take Easton tot he 4th floor terrace, where Jarett and I got married at the Wilderness Lodge. Probably set up to take a family pic. How far we have come in 5 yrs (be 6 in December) From WA to NJ to PA. One infant loss, 1 baby boy and another on the way. Been crazy, but it's all good :)

Easter plans: We'll do an Easter Basket and egg hunt for DD at home, then go to church. I didn't get a basket for DS (bad mommy) since he doesn't know the difference. My FIL is here, but he's the only family we'll have around for dinner. I'm kind-of sad since when I was growing up, we always went to my grandma's for Easter dinner and a big egg hunt with all my cousins. I feel a little guilty that our DC will miss out on that since we moved so far away from family.

Another thing I'm doing with DD this year that hopefully will be a tradition is making cookies in Easter shapes with sprinkles. I'm using a mix for the dough but not the premade shaped cookies. I think she'll have fun helping.

So Robyn is officially rolling! She has done it before, but only once in a while. But now as soon as I put her down on her tummy she rolls to her back - so I think it's official now. She's also learned to turn around while on her stomach, not a full circle, but enough to grab a toy at the side of her.

QOTD: How many babies are full out laughing?? Robyn doesnt really laugh. She opens her mouth really wide and shakes her head side to side, but no noise comes out. Sometimes she make a muffled "heh" sound, but not a single giggle or laugh yet??

Logan definitely is. He's been doing little chuckles and giggles since about ... oh gosh, I can't believe I can't remember! Maybe 4 months? Now, though, he really gets ROLLING with a good hearty laugh ... they are almost "big boy" laughs at this point.

Laughing Meg has been laughing for at least a month now. She really likes to laugh at her sister.

Easter Plans Finding easter eggs and baskets, hopefully taking great naps and then going to my mom's for dinner. I bought both of the girls really cute easter dresses but it is supposed to be 30 and snowy so I don't think we will be wearing those.

Meg will be 6 months in a few days. I still can not believe it when I look at the title of this thread and see working towards one.

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Laughing: DS has been laughing for a couple months now. He really gets into it. Sometimes when he is tired, the smallest thing cracks him up. I call it his delirious stage.:p

Kate's Mom: I was thinking the same thing today when I saw my friend's newborn. She is 2 lbs bigger than DS was at 2 weeks and she looks so small to me. I keep saying that DS is definetly not the baby I bought home 6 months ago.

Laughing: AJ has been laughing for about 1 1/2 months. He loves to laugh at the dog. If you tickle his hips his goes crazy laughing.

Easter: AJ and I are going to my mom's house for dinner. DH is working at the fire house. I had the cutests short-sleeved outfit for AJ. Now that it's only supposed to be in the 30's I have to figure something else out! I thought it was crazy that we were out in April 6th in his snowsuit! I do remember being a kid about maybe 5 or 6 years old and being so confused because I was wearing my "Christmas" coat to church on Easter instead of my "Easter" coat. :)

Does your DC roll over while sleeping? AJ has just started rolling over in his sleep. As soon as he hits hit stomach he screams hysterically because he cannot roll back. He is able to *almost* roll back during the day but while he's sleeping, forget it. He is just besides himself and won't stop screaming unless he's rolled back. How did you deal with this? I don't want to start the habit of getting up and rolling him back, but if I don't he just continues to scream.

laughing - yes, especially at DD.

rolling - he'll do belly-to-back when he wants to. Hasn't done back-to-belly yet. But he is sitting unsupported for 3-4 minutes.

Easter plans - just down to my parents for the day. Eat, egg hunt, come home.

Hope everyone is doing well!

And thanks to everyone about the complements on the picture. I did take it myself with my Nikon D80 (DSLR camera). Photography is a hobby (obsession) of mine. Grace has a TON of pictures taken of her daily. Some weeks, I swear I take several hundred!!

Happy Easter! We had a pretty low-key holiday this year. I went to church with my mom, but we were pretty distracted since Simon was awake and active the whole time. Then, dinner at my parent's house. We didn't even color our own eggs this year, though I did make the cake to bring along.

sleep rolling Simon has been rolling in the crib for ages now. It sucked when he could only roll back to belly and then cried for us to flip him all the time. At least that only lasted a week or so. Now, he either rolls himself back or pulls his legs under him and sleeps on the belly.

laughing He's been laughing for awhile now. I like to tickle him on the changing table, and he also usually laughs when I dip him upside down and bring him back up again.

What sort of talking does your baby do? Simon is pretty verbal and babbles away at us, or the cats, the crib, or whatever. But, the funniest thing is now he doesn't just cry when he's upset, he totally complains. He hates being in the carseat when he's not sleeping and we'll be driving somewhere and he'll be back there complaining away. DH and I crack up and say he's telling us off. I never knew babies would be so funny.

I'm way behind on this thread, so no SO's.

Laughing, yup, and it never ceases to amaze me the stuff she thinks is funny :p

Talking, she's a very chatty girl and just talks non-stop these days (except when we go out and then she's little miss serious). She definately complains when she's not happy about something -- she's started doing this mad-face complete with "arrgh!" sounds and angry gestures along with it, its pretty funny.

Oh yeah! Logan is totally doing this. He did it to me when he was playing in the bath ... he wanted to play while I was trying to wash his hair. Sure let me know about it!!!! Face gets all red with a stern look, grasps his hands in fists, and makes the "arrrgh" sound. As for talking, he also "fake cries", fake coughs, I swear he does a "huh?" sound when we say something to him, "eh eh eh" when he wants something and can't reach it, and the normal babbling, cooing when he's playing by himself or with us.

We had a very quiet Easter. DD had diarrhea and stomach cramping all day Saturday, so we didn't want to take her to church yesterday. So no pretty Easter outfits for us. I guess I'll dress them up once it warms up this week and we'll take pics then.

We've got two finalists in our nanny search--one is a woman about 45 who is very very nice, seems like she'd be easy to get along with. The other is a girl in her 20's who DH feels would be better at "teaching" or doing educational-type activities with. She seems more opinionated to me, and I'm a little worried she'd want to do things how she wants them instead of how we want them. If it was up to me I'd hire the older one, so hopefully DH will come around to my way of thinking. :p

talking DS is pretty vocal, lots of bababa's, etc. When he's upset he sounds like he's swearing at us in baby language, it's pretty funny. He also laughs all the time--much more than DD did at her age. He's very ticklish. Someone said the other day that he smiles with his whole body, and it really is true. Unfortunately, when he's unhappy, he fusses with his whole body, too.

Logan had them for about a week leading up to the the first tooth cutting. We didn't ever have any major explosions, just an increased # per day. :) We are still having an increased amount ... so I still don't know how long it lasts start to finish since the tooth is just about a 1/4 of the way through at this point.

HI! Just a quick question-
How are everyone's DC sleeping at night?

Meg was finally doing really well until about a week ago, and now we are back to numerous wakings at night. We have been playing the pop the paci back in game, but I am exhausted. Most of the time she is just chatting in her crib, but I can't go back to sleep when she is doing that and sometimes she will wake herself up even more if we don't go pop the paci back in.

Thanks for the replies.

Tristan's sleep really varies. Most nights he sleeps 10-11 hours waking up once between 4-5 to eat. Some nights he is up 2 or 3 times. Luckily he goes back to sleep very easily after we feed him.

We had a good Easter. The Easter Bunny brought Tristan some sippy cups, a teething rattle, some cute socks, a cute onesie and lots of candy. I showed him the sippy cups and he got mad when I took them away. There are pics in my journal.

We are having a mommy-baby day today. Our sitter is not feeling well so I stayed home with Tristan and I am loving it. We are having a great day together!

His first tooth should be breaking through any day now. I hope it is soon. He is definitely in pain, but he is handling it very well. He broke down and had a horrible day on Saturday, but has been fine since then.

Hello, hello!

TM, please update DH's age to 25 and mine to 26. Thanks!

We had a pretty good Easter. Went to church with my parents, then ate (and ate, and ate!). My mom got DS a Clifford toy and book, and about 6 outfits . They are all 9m size, so they are HUGE!! But, they'll probably fit someday. My sister left an Easter present for DS--an 18m shirt and 24m pants. DS has really stretched out, but obviously the family is still buying for my "chubster!"

DS parents didn't call me on my bday for the first time in 5 years--I figure they are still upset regarding the whole baptism thing. Oh well. Sheesh.

OMG, speaking of poopy diapers, DH and I just tag-teamed changed DS as I write this, because it was green and gooey-ooey all over. My DS has been having loose bowels for about a month now. So for us, it's been ongoing for a while. Hopefully it's not this bad for the rest of teething. Sheesh. MIL said that DH had horribly nasty BMs when he was teething, so I guess that's where DS gets it.

Night Sleep--DS gets up once, I just bring him to bed. He night-weaned himself when he started sleeping through the night around 12 weeks. That lasted about a month, then he started getting up again and hasn't quit. He wakes up crying and won't be soothed unless picked up, and I don't really feel like CIO during the day, let alone around 4 a.m.

Talking Lots and lots of babbling and squealing. Oh how I remember the days when we thought most of the restaurants we go to are too loud. Now we love them since DD likes to "talk" so much.

Laughing I've got a giggler on my hands. Melts my heart on a daily basis. Sometimes we don't even know why she's giggling. Weirdo.

Night sleep Still sleeping through the night. Knock knock knock on wood.

No signs of teeth here yet. I almost feel like we're behind on this one.

laughing - All the time. She was an early giggler ... it started just before Christmas. She gives herself the hiccups every time she giggles.

rolling over - Still only going from back to front. She gets stuck on her belly and gets angry. She's started to scoot a little, and she's getting her legs up in the crawling motion, but she still has a ways to go.

Easter - Let's just say this wasn't the best weekend ever. Lots of family drama. The kids didn't sleep well, and I was in tears by Saturday night. I'm ready for life to get back to normal ...

night - Some nights are bad, others are good. On a good night, she gets up once around 2 or 3 and then sleeps til 6 or 7. On a bad night, she's up two or three times, and in the case of this weekend, she was hard to put down. I think it's her teeth.

teeth - I can feel one and see a little white poking through. It's not a front tooth, which is weird. I'm wondering if it'll just stay under the surface for a while yet.

Let's see-

Laughing- Christian laughs when we tickle him or make goofy faces at him , etc.

Rolling over- He does pretty good rolling from back to belly but he hasn't rolled belly to back yet.

Easter- We went to my sister's house and just had a relazing, causal day. DS woke up at 6:30 that morning and hadn't taken a nap so he was grumpy by the time we got there and then getting him to sleep in an unfamiliar place took awhile. He seemed a little shy with a big group of people but I'm sure I wouldn't like a bunch of people surrounding me and trying to hold me either.

Sleeping at Night It's been going good, I don't want to jinz myself so I'll stop there;)

Laughing - DD loves to laugh and squeal. I've just discovered that she's ticklish under her arms and on either side of her tummy. :)

Rolling over - DD is rolling over in both directions but not consistently. It's like she'll be on her tummy and forget that she can roll over. I think she's preparing for crawling because she's moving her arms and legs like a turtle learning to swim. Does that make sense?

Night - DD was STTN, but for some reason stopped and is waking up at 1 or 2am to play. Since she's a napper during the day I think I need to cut out an hour for the last two of the day.

Teeth - DD is definitely teething. Lots of poopy diapers and some crankiness as a result.

Talking - DD's vocabulary has really taken off. She's able to say da da (just in general, not to DH), t, kee, and shh. It's all been within the last week too. I'm loving it. :)

Head Circumference - DD's HC is 18 in. which puts her above the 100th percentile. Her doctor suggested we schedule a CT Scan. DD's head doesn't seem too big for her body to me, so I was really surprised and really worried that something might be wrong. I had to wait one week before her appt. so that didn't help. We took her in last Wednesday for the scan. The nurse helping us was really nice and reassured me afterwards that she didn't see anything obviously wrong. It was a relief, but I really wanted to hear it from our doctor. Well, they called last Friday to let us know that everyting was OK. Phew. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

QOTD - For those of you who have gone to your 6 month WBV, did the ped. suggest feeding your baby twice per day? Also, now that you've added solids how many ounces of milk is your baby getting? Sometimes I feel like I'm overfeeding Mahayla now that we've added another solid feeding during the day. In addition to a fruit in the morning, and a veggie in the evening, I think she's getting anywhere from 24-28 oz. of formula a day.

6 month Stats

Weight: 17lbs 6oz. (75th percentile)
Height: 27 in. (95th percentile)

I think she's preparing for crawling because she's moving her arms and legs like a turtle learning to swim.

Tristan does that too. Is it a sign of being ready to learn to crawl? I am not ready for that yet! He also tries to push up on his knees but his little butt sort of flops to the side and he tips over.

MichelleRenee - I'm not 100% sure, but I went to our local Children's Museum the other week and there was a 7 month old little boy crawling very well around the infant area. I was so surprised, but excited to think that this may be happening for us in the next couple of months.

TaterBaby - Me too! :) I went shoe shopping a few months ago and I'm a half size bigger. Kind of stinks too, since I was already a 9.5. I hope it doesn't happen for each child I may have.

OMG have I not mentioned this? Half size here too. And alot of it is in the width. I'm having to throw a lot of shoes away. Darn it darn it darn it.....;)

Actually what I'm noticing is I'm not liking anything too strappy anymore either. Comfort has become very important....without becoming too frumpy because I'm still a shoe freak.

Lily that's so cool about the talking. I think I'm looking forward to this development the most.

Lily Not a CT, but Simon had to have an MRI shortly after birth because the ped wanted to check on the base of his spine due to some dimples down there. Very nerve-wracking, especially since we had to wait 3 weeks to get it done due to insurance issues. But, such a relief when we found nothing wrong!

Is anyone else experiencing this BLIZZARD today?!? Seriously, I think we're supposed to get 5-7" of snow today, it's crazy! I'm hoping I can leave work early or I'll be stuck in traffic and that'll make me late picking up Simon. Daycare is only open until 6.

We were already feeding DC three meals of solid food per day, so the ped didn't say anything. Per a sheet they gave us at the 4m WBV, they said to work our way up to three a day by 9 months, that's why we were already doing 3 (sometimes only 2) a day.

I was also going to ask about the BM/formula oz per day. Since we started doing 3 meals a day, Logan has cut back his consumption of formula, and I was worried that it was too low. I think Logan is getting 22-24 oz of formula on a typical day of straight bottles ... and then maybe another 3-4 oz from mixing it in cereal.

bunnybeth--My parents have about 8 inches expected, my mom isn't at school today (she's a teacher). I'm in the southern part of the state, so it's been snowing all day but nothing is sticking to the roads. It sucks, because DS and I had been enjoying our daily stroller walks (and my waistline was starting to shrink!). Go figure, Mother Nature grrrr!!!

Lily--Glad to hear your DD is okay. I would have been freaking out if the doc had us do that with DS! . . . . which reminds me of a funny story--at Christmas, my SIL's boyfriend's daughter, who is 4, came over to me while I was changing DS. She looked at him, looked at me and said "He has a big head." Then she walked away. LOL!! I thought it was funny, and had to share.

Meals--Rippy, thanks for posting that about 3x a day by 9m. None of my solids info has that included. We're eating oatmeal pretty eagerly these days. DS grabs the spoon and feeds himself. That is a mess, OMG. But too funny. I think I'm going to grab a couple Gerber 4 pk of veggies to introduce DS to them, then make my own of them if he likes them, starting in a few weeks.

_____________
I just had to share that DS is NAPPING!!!!!!!!!!! all by himself in his crib!!!!!!!!!!!! (However, he is still fully swaddled. Oh well--one battle at a time, right??)

Big heads - Ada is above the 100 percentile on head circumference. So was Gabe. My dr. said that as long as she remains consistent, he's not worried. Someone on another one of my boards went through the whole CT Scan for a big head, and it amounted to nothing, as well.

Crawling - Ada's doing the turtle swim thing right now. Gabe was a super-early crawler. He was up on all fours at his 6-month birthday, and he started crawling a couple of weeks later.

Speaking of which, it's been a little stressful for me to have Ada developing as she is because Gabe was so early on everything that I expected her to be that way as well. Gabe crawled at 6.5 months, walked before he was 10 months. Ada is just keeping up with the general population, but it stresses me out because my only experience with babies was one who did things so early. Make sense? Just goes to show you that they all do their own thing on their own schedule.

I have noticed that Ada is faster in other areas. She smiled much earlier than Gabe (3.5 weeks old vs. 6 weeks old) and she started laughing much, much earlier than Gabe. I looked back at his baby book, and Gabe really didn't start giggling till he was over 5 months old. Ada started at around 2.5 months. Sort of interesting.

I am really behind so I'll take a stab at shoutouts:

TM Great new thread ladies. You two are excellent and I really appreciate your time you put into it.

Movement DS is a mover and a shaker. He flip both ways, scoots backwards, is on the verge of crawling and can sit up for about 5 minutes unsupported.

Solids We do two feedings a day. He was drinking 40oz of formula a day prior to solids and has since scaled back to about 36. I plan on offering him the full 40 until he develops a pattern. We started with Rice cereal and now are adding 1 veggie each week.

For those of you on solids how much do you give DC at each feeding?

Sleep DS was a brilliant sleeper until about a week ago. Now he's been waking up 5 - 6 times a night. We hope its just because he is working on crawling, and then he will go back to his STTN.

BM These are still normal, just a little thicker consistency, but no increased or decreased occurance. :p

Laughing DS has 3 laughs. Our favorite is this loud deep belly laugh. Its so funny, and it occurs when you would least expect it.

He's waking and making his predator noise, gotta run!

Solids: My pedi didn't really tell us much about solids at 4mo WBV other than go ahead and start. We waited until 5 1/2 months. We did 2 weeks of 1 meal and just recently moved to 2 meals a day. AJ gets 2 ice cube sized servings of food. The morning meal is whatever new food we are introducing and the evening meal is something he's had already.

Diapers: DH called it soft serve ice cream. I guess he got to witness it as he was changing AJ's diaper.

Crawling: Not yet, but AJ decided to play a trick on me today. We were playing on the floor in his room and I went across the hall to the bathroom. When I came back he was gone. I was a bit perplexed because we were home alone and I know the dog didn't take him anywhere. He rolled across the floor and right under the crib. He was having a grand old time under there!

Forgot to reply re: crawling:

And the answer is, sort of! DS does a psuedo-crawl. He rolls all over (both ways) and then does a "slide" across the floor. The best way to describe the "slide" is to picture someone doing the sidestroke (from swimming) on carpet, LOL. It is quite funny to watch, but it seems to work for him!! It seems to go: roll left, roll right, slliiiiide. . . sliiidde, roll left, right, play with toes, sliiiiide again!

We just had DS 6 month visit (He's 20lbs5oz and 27in long). He has been eating between 32-40oz of formula a day. We just started rice cereal and he has no interest at all. Absolutely no reaction. It all just dribbled right out. I thought because he is big and seems to have a large appetite he'd be all over it (rather, it's all over him!) When did you DC start showing interest?

Rippy1010
04-13-2007, 05:28 AM
sake ~ DS started showing interest in our "real" food around 3.5 months. The first time we gave him rice, though, the same thing happened ... everything fell right out of his mouth. I think the first few times are really just to get they acclimated to eating off the spoon. Plus, I noticed that the directions for "first feeding" on the box make it way to watery/liquidy/soupy for my DS and he hates foods that are too watery. So, the next feeding, I made it thicker rather than following the box directions, and he started to get the hang of it.

MidwesternGal: congrats on DS napping in the crib!

Jenzen01: it is interesting to hear how your babies have developed at different rates. I guess we tend to think that siblings will develop the same, but Gabe is a boy and was an only child when he was learning all the new stuff and Ada is a girl and has a sibling. I don't know if those factors make a difference but it makes me wonder how those things affect development.

Bubeleh: I don't measure. :o I just make enough to cover the bottom of a small bowl. I would say it is about 1-2 tablespoons of cereal. (before adding the formula)

AmyS: how scary and funny at the same time!!!

maplekitty: congrats on the tooth!

sake: I'd say it took about 7-8 feedings before Tristan truly got the hang of swallowing. He seemed very confused that I kept taking the spoon out of his mouth, so I would leave it in there for a second and let him suck on it so he would understand that it was food. That seemed to work and now he no longer needs to suck on the spoon, although there are days when he just has no interest in swallowing the cereal.

We have had a busy, busy week! On Saturday Tristan held his bottle for an entire feeding for the first time. That made me feel so sad, like he doesn't need me anymore. He has done it a few times a day since then, but we still have to sit there in case he drops it because he can't pick it up.

Easter was good. Tristan enjoyed his gifts. He especially liked his sippy cups and got mad when I took them away from him. He thinks they are toys. Everyone kept telling us what a good baby he was the whole time we were at family's house, which was nice after his meltdown the day before!

No tooth yet but I can feel it coming through. I keep saying this, but any day now! He is still rolling like crazy. When on his belly he kicks his arms and legs like he is swimming and pushes up on his knees, but then he tips over.

Sleeping is going great! He officially sleeps from 7:30pm-7:30am. He usually wakes up once to eat during that time. We do have bad nights where he wakes up 2-3 times, but he always goes back to sleep after we feed him so I am happy about that. Last night he actually fell asleep at 6:45, so I think his bedtime is going to continue to get earlier and earlier.

And for some mommy news.... I am down to my goal weight! Finally. I was underweight before I got PG so my goal weight was 10 lbs over my pre-PG weight and I am there. I am still frustrated by my new shape. I feel like none of my clothes are appropriate for my shape now, which sucks.

I hope everyone is having a good Friday. I am so ready for the weekend!

Ugh. Feeling crappy ... I think AF is finally on her way. I started having a little bit of pink discharge last night, and it's continued this morning. My milk supply is down, too, so maybe it's all related.

We had a new furnace installed yesterday along with central air. I'm so excited to finally have air conditioning this year. Of course, with the weather we've been having, who knows if it will ever warm up! We got 4 inches of snow on Wednesday. It's April, for crying out loud!

When the furnace guys got here yesterday, DH wasn't home at the time, and one of the guys asked me if Al was my dad. I said, "Seriously, how young do I look? I've got two babies!" He apologized profusely, and told me to take it as a compliment. I do manage to get carded pretty much all of the time yet. I guess I should enjoy it. :) My 30th birthday is quickly approaching ... sigh ... not too excited about that.

Midwestern We ended up with about 5" sticking, yuck. Certainly no walks outside until it melts! I love stroller walks, pushing the baby around (I insist on doing it and DH just comes along) helps make it more of an exercise I think. I want my mommy belly gone. ;)

Jenzen I find it really interesting to talk to parents with multiple kids now. Every baby is different, and somehow I don't think you *really* expect that since they both come from the same place. Keeps you on your toes!

Does anyone else have bathtime trouble? We recently re-started (yes, we're loser parents) giving tub baths with Simon and he HATES it. As soon as he hits the water he starts crying and screaming, even though I'm sitting right next to the tub holding him and kissing him the entire time. We even tried toys, but he just pushed them away. We can't exactly go back to sponge baths now, as much as he loved them, as he's over the weight limit for the sling on the tub. But, how can we make bathtime better?

MichelleRenee--I hear ya on the whole "shape" thing. I am actually about 10 pounds (give or take a few on different days) below my pre-pg weight, but I'm still not fitting into a few clothes. Pregnancy reaaaallly rearranges a person's body!

sake--DS had a horrible time with rice cereal (for a funny video, check out one of the last couple pages of the 0-6m thread!). I dropped it after a few days, then tried oatmeal. he eats it right up! I held the spoon in his mouth a little bit longer, so he could suck on it and get the idea that there was something on the spoon to go down his throat.

Jenzen--I never would have guessed you were close to 30! You looked so much younger in the pic you posted! Be happy it's that way though--when I used to babysit in HS for 3 kids (one of whom was 10!), people always thought I was their mommy.

bunnybeth/bathtime: DS hates (and I mean hates) his bath. Granted, he no longer screams bloody murder, but he death-grips the side of the tub and holds his legs up out of the water. Every once in a while, he'll kind of cry when I get his head wet. No real advice, other than master the art of the fast wash! DS is in and scrubbed and out within about 5-7 minutes. I think he may like it more once he can sit up in the tub, rather than be reclined in an odd position.

ETA: Forgot to ask--what kind of diaper bag does everyone have? I have the matching Graco that goes with my stroller and carseat, but it's quickly becoming too small--there's no outside pockets, so everything must fit on the inside. I *am* a bit of an overpacker, but when DS poops all overhimself, it's proven to be a good thing! I was looking at Skip Hop bags (possibly the Duo Double, since we will hopefully have #2 fairly close to DS).

We are home from Disney. Had a good trip, some bumpy spots but otherwise was good. Easton did great as we expected. He loved seeing the characters and interacting with them. We have a ton of pics of him with all of the ones that we went to see and that just came up to us. He loved going in the kiddie pool. Before we went to the pool I put him in his float on the bed and he was having a blast there, DH commented we didn't even need to go to the pool, since he was having so much fun. He liked the riding in the bus and boat without his carseat, but did well going back in it last night for the drive home from the airport.

Big event of the trip: We took him to the Main Street Barbershop and got his haircut. He was all smiles through the whole thing. The woman only cut some of the longer strands from the top and sides so that when it grows in it more it will be more even. He got mouse ears, a certificate and we got a little packet of his hair clippings along with some pixie dust (they usually sprinkle it on the heads of people getting a cut, but not on babies) It was so cute. Will see if can get pics posted later.

Bathtime Troubles : can't say we have any issues, Easton likes getting a bath so much that he tries to sit up while getting one. He gets out and smiles up a storm at me. Especially when I stand in front of the mirror with him all wet in his towel, he thinks its funny to see himself.

Sleeping: while on the trip Easton never woke once at night for a bottle. Last night he wanted one before bed at almost 1 (we had just gotten in from the airport) and didn't wake up until around 10 this morning.

weather: it's crazy, my mom was going to leave for home on Saturday, not sure if she did since her area was getting a ton of snow storms for the last week. We were in 60's down in FL and then the last 2 days of the trip up into the 80's and humid.

solids: I give Easton usually 2-3oz of his dinner jar and 2 oz of a fruit usually. Breakfast it usually about 3-4 TBS and 2-3 oz of fruit. He drinks 7oz bottles whenever he wants them, usually 4 -5 times a day I would say. While on vacation he got jars of the baby cereal mixed with fruit and would eat the whole 4oz.

I see the peri on Wednesday. My b-day was yesterday, can't believe I am now 33. Yikes time is flying.

Sake - first time we fed robyn she just licked at the spoon, didnt really eat it. it was also very runny, so i just slowly made it thicker and then she really liked it. i agree that it takes afew feedings for them to understand. i also let her play witht eh spoon and let her "feed herself" so she would understand what was on it. Although now she always grabs for the spoon which can get annoying. dont worry - he'll get the hang of it eventually.

sleeping - robyn has been really all over the place with sleep. some night she wants to got o bed at 5pm some nights 7pm, it all depends on her afternoon nap and if its a 30 mins nap r a three hour nap, you know? and shes all over the board with wakings too. some nights just one waking, some nights 2-3 *shrug* its okay though because she goes back to sleep without a peep.

diaper bag - we are using a one-shoulder backpack style diaper bag and i love it!

bathtime - sorry bunnybeth, robyn just loves bathtime... first we let her sit up in the water and play with some toys, then i lay her down and wash her hair and body. she just kicks her arms and legs and has a good time. but we;ve also been taking her swimming at the pool, so she just loves the water.

Had to chime in on the baths because Lainey HATES them. Starts crying as soon as we walk into the bathroom with her wrapped in her hooded towel. Cries (SCREAMS) the whole time. I think we're in and out it about 3-5 minutes. As soon as I put her back in her towel when we're done, she's happy again.

Thanks MichelleRenee. I am feeling ok, today just feeling out of sorts, but that could be because only slept for 6-7 hours a day (in late, out early) and landing at 11pm to get home by 1am and up at 10 this morning. I didn't feel sick at all on the trip like I did the few days leading up to the trip so that is good news.

As for the formula didn't know anything about the 800# if you get more info, please let me know, can always save money on formula, especially with another baby on the way and probably going to be formula fed again.

HI! Wow a lot has been going on. Thanks to those who posted about sleeping. As soon as I posted about Meg- she slept through the night! Of course it only lasted 2 nights, but I will take it. Last night she only got up 2x's so it is getting better.

Erika_Jarret Glad to hear that you had a good trip and the video is priceless!

Bunnybeth Sorry to hear that baths are not going well. My first DD went through that and it eventually passed and now we can't get her out of the tub.

Midwestern I can't believe you have crawling. Meg scoots all over the place on her belly, but I don't know if I would call it crawling.

A funny story- Yesterday my girls and I were playing babies with all of the dolls we have. I told my oldest that she needed to gather all the babies that belonged to her cousin's in a pile so we could give them back to her.
She asked if she could keep one of them, so I said that you have to pick one of the other babies to give to them. She looked at all the babies for a while and then went over to Meg and said "what about this one" and tried to pick her up! It was really cute because she was so serious about it.

I ordered a double jogging stroller today and I am so excited about it. IF it ever gets nice here I plan on walking and jogging with the girls everyday!
I need to get rid of my pooch!
Hope everyone has a great day!
