Anyone know any good cures for dry, cracked feet? What causes feet to get so dry in the Winter?

When I got a pedicure last, the lady doing it said to use olive oil on my dry skin during the winter.

I want to second wearing a lotion or oil with foot wear while you are trying to heal the cracks. Going without shoes and socks can make the problem worse! I would even recommend wearing slippers around the house to have an added protection. My friend has this so badly that her Ex-H used to sandpaper the cracks for her  And she said that if the cracks weren't healed by summer, then they just got worse because she refused to not wear sandals!

Dry, cracked feet can be horrible and painful, but easily treated. I'm a firm believer that every woman should own the following:
1. Foot file. Keep it in the shower and use on rough spots every few days as part of the shower. I think the best one out there (and doesn't cost a fortune) is Dr. Scholls Swedish File (http://www.drscholls.com/product.aspx?prodid=8)
2. Not only thick, but exfoliating foot creme. Philosophys Souls Owner (http://www.philosophy.com/web/store/product_10001_10001_-1_25644_24015) is one of the strongest for dry feet. It keeps dry skin at bay by moisturizing and super strong glycolic acid for exfoliating.

I'm a big fan of Bag Balm (http://www.bagbalm.com/) for dry feet!

I have the worst dry cracked feet & nothing I put on them would help. This tool: http://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-Callus-Shaver-Foot-Pedicure/dp/B000BL1NLI has transformed my feet into "normal peoples feet"! I have to soak my feet before I scrape off all of the dead skin. Only when I get it all off can my feet actually absorb any lotions.

I have this too and LOVE it! It takes practice, but if you are careful enough to use it, it can make the world of difference.
