My DS (5 months) has a red spot in the white of his eye. I do not know what could have caused it to appear. It just popped up this afternoon. Could crying have caused it? I'm always with him and can't determine how he got it. We were in the car earlier and he was crying in his car seat. He cried for about 10-15 minutes before we got home. When I got him inside was when I noticed it. He does not act like it is bothering him at all. Anyone know what this could be? My doctor's office is closed today and now I'm worried. Thanks!

ETA: I spoke with a friend and she thinks it's a broken blood vessel from him crying. Does anyone have any experience with that?

It probably is a small broken blood vessel from crying. My DD had one in one eye right after she was born and it lasted for maybe a week or more, I think. It's from straining. Pooping can bring them on too sometimes.

It shouldn't bother your child in the least - he can't feel it or anything.

Thanks so much for your reply. It went away a few days ago, so it lasted about a week. I felt so bad that he busted a blood vessel from crying so hard. Talk about feeling like a bad mom! :o Atleast if it happens again I'll know not to worry as much.
