I am still bummed that we lost Carter. He was such a central character. And, I kept holding out hope that he and Abby would get back together.
I really hope something romantic starts to really happen for Abby.

I might have mentioned this in the other thread, but did y'all find the end of the season totally lame? I mean, I can't believe their cliff hanger was they couldn't find Sam's kid. It seems like they don't care as much, since the previous season the end was Jing-Mae (sp), Pratt and that patient being shot at and going into the river. Now that's a cliff hanger!
I am definitely interested to see where the plot is going to go. It just seemed like they had all these half-ass plots that they just weren't sure.

Did Ming-Na (Jing-Mae) leave the show?
I don't remember any big "exit" for her character, but I don't remember her being on the show again this season after her father passed away.

ardathpaige, I totally found the end of season totally lame. It had no grit whatsoever.
As to Jing Mae, I think she had some cameo scenes last season, but it sure wasn't very many.
I don't think she is gone for good, but they may be phasing her out.
They have had too many cast changes too fast IMHO, and that may signal the end of the show. I hope not, but it might.

I agree; I hope they don't have more turnover of cast. That's what killed Melrose Place.
Carter truly was central to the show and really, had been for most if not all of his career. So many episodes focused on him. Heck, many were named after him.
I find myself wondering who, if anyone, will step up and fill that void. The most likely candidate, I think, is Pratt but I don't think he will be as significant as Carter.
I'm tired of Luka and Sam having so many issues. They have a lot in common and could be really happy, but he can't work through losing his family and she can't work through having to rely on herself all those years.
I'm glad Ray stepped up and took charge in the finale. I always liked him for some reason, even though for awhile he lacked drive and ambition, and somehow I always thought he had it in him.
I wish Carter's farewell had been a little more significant, but I recall hearing that Noah Wyle didn't want a big hoopla.

I agree. I think it will be Pratt, or Luka, or possibly even Abby.
It might make a nice "perk" up for the show, if the more central character was a woman.
I kinda of like Ray too. I think there is alot of room to expolre him, both as a person, and a Dr.. I hope they do more with him in new episodes.
I still can't believe in the Luka/Sam relationship. They just seem so ill matched to me, that I can't buy into any of their storylines (no flames, it's just my humble opinion :)

Morris is such a complete moron.
I guess they have to have one character that everyone loves to hate. For a long time it was Romano. But Romano at least was a good doctor even though he was a jerk personally. Morris is just a trainwreck looking to happen. He's so incompetent, he's going to kill someone soon!
Pratt! Why oh why did you turn down the opportunity to be chief resident! Bet you're regretting that now, aren't ya?

ITA, and then some!
No real hospital situation would tolerate this imbecile for one day, let alone make him Chief Resident.
That, and the Luka/Sam relationship are just elements I can't buy into, Neither of them smacks of reality to me. And I ahve always thought that was part of what made the show exceptional. It was believeable and had a realism to it.
Morris just plain needs to go, altogether. I can't stand him.

Bumping this up.
Did anyone else hear this? It looks like John Leguizamo is going to be a recurring character next season. And, Kristin Johnston from 3rd Rock From the Sun will be making an appearance in a few episodes.
I still miss Carter though. :(

Leguizamo Scrubs in for "ER"
by Bridget Byrne
Aug 31, 2005, 1:30 PM PT
back to story
John Leguizamo is going to freak out those ER medics with a "Wake Up" call.
"Wake Up" is the title of the episode in which the actor-comedian will make his debut as Dr. Ernesto Clemente, the new supervisor at Chicago's County General, who "shakes up the E.R. with unconventional ideas and cutting-edge technology." NBC characterizes him as a "sparkplug" whose methods not only invigorate the hospital staff but also bring a coma patent back to consciousness.
(Maybe he should have been hired to supervise the whole of NBC, which is hoping for a new lease on life this season after its DOA schedule last year.)
"The character comes in with a different way of doing things, and we wanted an actor capable of matching that kind of energy," ER executive producer David Zabel tells Variety. "John is both a gifted dramatic actor and a brilliant comedian. More than any other character we've ever brought on, the character John's playing is a sparkplug. I think it's going to change the whole dynamic in the characters that already exist. I think adding in this new dynamic force will reenergize everybody."
NBC confirms that Leguizamo will be a recurring character--not (as had been rumored) someone stepping in fulltime to fill the spot on the hospital roster vacated by Noah Wyle, who slipped out the door last season after 11 years of playing Dr. John Carter to spend more time with his family.
Leguizamo, whose last regular gig on series television was one season on the 1995 Fox sketch comedy House of Buggin', which he also produced, will appear in at least 12 episodes of ER beginning with the fifth episode, scheduled for Oct. 20.
Also stopping by this fall will be Kristen Johnston. The big, bold, blond, best known as the sexy alien on the sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun, will play a doc for a half-dozen episodes.
Now entering its 12th season, ER remains NBC's top-rated drama, having survived numerous casting exits--most notably George Clooney's Dr. Doug Ross, who departed in 1999, and Anthony Edwards's Dr. Marc Greene, who succumbed to a brain tumor in 2002. Last year, Thursday-night Must-See staple averaged nearly 15.5 viewers a week.
Leguizamo's decision to appear on network television is another example of a growing trend in which stars, despite their success in movies, are willing to work in the network TV trenches. Earlier this week, Oscar winner Charlize Theron opted for a five-episode gig on Fox's critically lauded comedy Arrested Devolpment.
Colombian-born Leguizamo, 41, who immigrated to New York City as a kid, made his name in his stage shows Mambo Mouth and Spic-O-Rama and earned two Tony nominations for his one-man Broadway debut, Freak, which aired on HBO. He followed that with Sexaholix: A Love Story, which also was picked up by the pay-cable channel.
The prolific and chameleonic actor has appeared in a wide range of feature films this year: the Spanish-language thriller Cronicas, George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, the big-screen take on The Honeymooners and the remake of Assault on Precinct 13.
Other feature credits range from action (Collateral Damage) to musical (Moulin Rouge!) to Shakespeare (Romeo + Juliet). He was also a drag queen in To Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar and the voice of Sid the Sloth in the CGI 'toon Ice Age and will reprise the role in next year's Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. He also stars in the upcoming wedding comedy The Groomsmen.

I read this article about ER in next week's TV Guide:
Is ER Losing Dr. Kovac?
News that ER's Goran Visnjic might be the next James Bond hasn't left the medical drama's brass shaken or stirred. According to executive producer David Zabel, a "contingency plan" is in place should the actor inherit 007's oversized black book. "We would film a bunch of [Kovac scenes] at one time for later episodes,: Zabel explains. "Or, depending on where the Bond film was shooting, he might be able to work on both at the same time." Visnjic's potential big-screen break comes as ER gets a major staff infusion. Zabel confirms that a new, yet-to-be-cast male doc will be introduced in this season's fifth episode. Additionally, 3rd Rock From the Sun's Kristen Johnston is coming on as the take-charge nurse manager and mentor to Taggart (Linda Cardellini). "She's a...She starts out as a bit of a...I'm trying to phrase this carefully, She's quite the..." Oh, I'll say it. She's a bitch! See how easy that was?
From the article Jessie posted above, it sounds like John Leguizamo is probably the new doc they mentioned in this TV Guide article. I'm looking forward to seeing both him & Kristen Jonhston join the cast.

Luca really needs to get a new woman in his life -- one who has similar life goals. You know, like having kids. He went through so much to get to a place where he is even ready to talk about committing and having kids again, and he hooks up with a woman who can't deal with life??? I understand she was young when she had Alex, and ALlex is a PITA, but what is all this BS about wanting her life back? Lady,, you have a kid, you will NEVER have your life back!

Considering Alex was missing, it was pretty funny to have them switch actors. When they found him, I was like, "Nope not him. Look, poor Sam is so tired, distraught, etc. she can't even tell that isn't her son!"
For the season opener, it really wasn't a very compelling episode.

Considering they had to switch actors to play him I think it would have been MUCH better to write him out of the show as a runaway since the storyline was already headed that way. I didn't know for sure it wasn't him till the end of the show when he started really talking. I thought that maybe he just grew up a bit over the summer and got a little chunkier in the face.

they showed his face briefly at the beginning of the episode while he was in the middle of running away so I knew when Sam found him at the hospital that he was the right kid. I highly doubt it, since they broke up because she didn't want to get married and/or have kids. But Neela had a crush on him last season (and she seems to be the only female in the cast he didn't make a pass at). Did Abby and the med student break up for sure? It wasn't clear last season. She kept telling him to go to San Francisco but I couldn't tell if he did or not.

There are a couple of new cast members, so maybe Luca will move on with one of them. I don't think he'll get together w/ Abby as she obviously doesn't want children. Even though Sam is flakey, I do like how they've made Luca's character a one women man now. They were having him be a little too sex crazed for me!!
I thought Sam was pregnant. What happened with that story line?
anniebananie
09-26-2005, 02:56 PM
I think that's how the whole baby discussion started between them. Sam thought she was pregnant and Lucas saw the pregnancy test in the toilet. It ended up being a false alarm where she was immensely relieved and he was really disappointed.

Luka's wife and two children died when the apt they were living in in Croatia during the war was bombed.
Luka had gone out to run an errand, but had admonished his family to stay in the apt, as he felt it was too dangerous for them to be on the street. While he was gone, the apt was bombed. And, when he returned, his son was already dead and his wife and daughter were dieing. He was a med student at the time, and felt powerless to help as he watched them die.
It was an outrageously powerful episode, told in flash backs.
And, it was the fuel for a whole season of storylines about why Luka couldn't handle relationships, behaved like a slut, lived on the edge etc.

As I recall, he made the choice to continue CPR on his daughter and let his wife bleed out, instead of taking his wife to the hospital. He could have taken his wife to the hospital and saved her, but then his daughter would have died. It was a "Sophie's Choice" kind of thing. On top of that, no one came to help, and he could not save his daughter, either. He was helpless. He felt God had abandoned him. His wife was a strict Catholic, so he had never had sex with anyone until they got married (we found this out in a later episode).
This was why the episode in Africa, when he was about to be shot and started to pray, was so powerful. It was clear, then, that in this place, in this time of genocide so similar to the time and place when he had lost his family, Luca had regained his faith. Luca had come full circle, and had become, in the words of the woman in the episode, "A man of God." His character's arc is almost complete. He really is ready and fully capable to have a family again.

I thought it was the opposite that he tried to save his wife and that he really battled himself about not saving his child. Then, that played into being one of the reasons why he tried to save that one child from Croatia (?) that didn't have the money for that operation, and he got the hospital to pay for it after lots of fighting w/ Carrie.

My favorite quote from tonight was at the very beginning when that lady on the train hurt her ankle and Neela stopped to help and she asked for a second opinion...loved Abby's second opinion, "You might have broken your ankle and you're a bitch!" Go Abby!

Well in terms of proving Morris' trifecta wrong:
Abby made the call on the protein issue with the kid -- something learned, rather than just nursing instinct. Brains, check.
As for Neela, I don't remember seeing anything in particular to negate the "no courage"... she stood up to Pratt with the GSW, but that didn't seem really out of character for her.
Decent episode -- except of course the whole surrogate mother trainwreck horribly annoyed me, partly because it is so stupid that that sort of detail wouldn't be worked out ahead of time. And of course Ray would have been kicked out long before he was, if he was screaming at this woman the way he was.
Loved, loved, *loved* the scene with Miss Bitchy Broken Ankle. I can totally see Abby becoming the central character -- she's earned it!
I love the chemistry between Abby and Neela. They've ended up being great friends and I loved the beginning! I don't like Luka with anyone. I'd love to see him being single for more than a second.

My favorite quote from tonight was at the very beginning when that lady on the train hurt her ankle and Neela stopped to help and she asked for a second opinion...loved Abby's second opinion, "You might have broken your ankle and you're a bitch!" Go Abby!

**** If you haven't seen last night's episode yet ... avert eyes from your computer screen! :) ****
There's a new resident attending ... and he basically drove all the residents, attendings, doctors and nurses crazy. It seems like he had a problem at his last place of employment, as Dr. Weaver said something to the effect of she's watching to make sure it won't happen again.
The coma patient that woke up in last weeks episode, was trying to deal with her life since she woke up. She was engaged when she was went into the coma, and she called her fiance only to find out that he's married now to someone else. She kept having 'flashbacks' of images of the night of the accident. Her doctor told Kovac that her and her Mom were carjacked by gunpoint, raped, beaten, her Mom shot, and she was pistol-whipped into the coma. They were holding off telling her until she was more mentally stable. Kovac spent the whole shift with her, and while she was telling him her 'flashback' fears, she slipped again into a coma.
The breast cancer patient that Abby convinced to take the drastic preventitive measures, told Abby that she didn't know how she felt having cancer. Abby's Grandmother and Aunt (?) died of breast cancer, but Abby had never even had a mammography. At the end of the show it showed Abby goin to have the test.
Pratt and his father had another run-in. Pratt found out that his father talks to teenage boys about safe sex.
Did I miss anything, anyone? Hope that helps :)

I think it was just to bring up the need for breast cancer awareness. At the beginning of the show it showed Abby, Weaver, and Sam (I think??) - not in character, but the actors - speaking about the importance of being aware. They were all wearing special scarves, and Weaver was wearing one in the show as well. I don't think they're setting Abby up for anything (i hope not, anyway) - I just think they're trying to bring the topic up a bit more.

Recap:
Well, a man used his kid/abdutee as a human sheild as the police tried to arrest him for abduction. The girl was in shot and put into Abby's care, Luca and Leguzamo's character got into a p-ssing match about how to care for the girl and she ended up dieing. There was a shot cop and the criminal. Don't quite know what happened to them. Abby got upset about the little girl's death and went to see Luca, they kissed (SO ROMANTIC!). Neela was all dressed up for Gallant's return, then found out (apparently) he was going to be delayed. :) Hope that helps a bit...

OK, I'll be the vocal minority here and say I HATE the idea of Abby and Luka together again. They were a really bad couple last time; why would they be any better together this time? They haven't changed - Luka still wants someone he can "save," and Abby still has emotional intimacy issues (as evidenced by her fling with the med student who she pushed away as soon as it was time for his residency). I really hope this turns out to be a one-time thing with them, and nothing more.

I actually feel the same way. Luca has also expressed his desire for kids, and Abby doesn't want to have children. She always has so many guys interested in her!! I think its good for her confidence!
I'm not sure how I feel about John Stamos and Neela either. I LOVE her w/ Gallant. I'm going to be so sad, if he doesn't return to the show. Yeah, I really like Neela and Gallant together. Plus isn't John Stamos in his 40's? And as a 2nd-year resident, Neela is probably only 28 or so. together with her wearing an Indian sari in white (strange because Indian brides from what I understand weaar red as the traditional wedding color).I think you're mixing up Chinese (red being a celebratory color) with Indian traditions. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) an Indian wedding sari is not usually a particular color as much as it is very ornate and intricately embroidered. I've heard of them in every color from red to purple to gold. I think a lot of Indian-American women are sort of combining traditions - the very ornate sari with the white of an American wedding dress. In the Hindu weddings I've photographed, one of the brides wore a white sari with embroidery (and switched to an American style dress for her dance reception) and one of them wore a deep taupe with gorgeous gold handwork beading and embriodery.

No I'm not getting confused with Chinese tradition. I remember there was specifically one bride from the WC (nancy_ah) who had a traditional ceremony in India and I remember when she was describing being there to pick out her wedding sari about how it had to be a shade of red because that was the traditional color.Interesting. I'll have to reseach. Becasue none of the brides I've known have had red saris. Hm. Maybe you're right and it's regional.

This is from NBC's website about the upcoming episode:
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER--Back from Iraq, Gallant (Sharif Atkins) surprises Neela (Parminder Nagra) by telling her he wants to take their relationship to the next level. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) and Clemente (John Leguizamo) vie for the same job making the tension between them even thicker. Meanwhile, Sam (Linda Cardellini) convinces a patient's mother to get the medical attention that her son desperately needs. Morris (Scott Grimes) shocks everyone when he stands up to Weaver (Laura Innes) during a medical procedure.
I wish they'd kill off Morris. He's just a waste of a character and adds absolutely nothing to the show, IMO.

Me too!!
I am REALLY hoping that Luka and Abby are getting back together.
My thoughts on tonight's show...
I didn't really get to pay full attention as I had tons of work to do, so if I'm wrong about anything, please tell me.
-There wasn't enough of the ceremony.
-I'm glad that Neela and Gallant are married. I want to know how her parents are going to take it.
-Abby and Luka getting back together was a given, although Abby doesn't seem as sure of it.
I think that's all...

Honestly, he does way more for me than Mekhi Phifer. Don't know why, he just does. But I have odd taste sometimes. (Just look at my ex's!)
I actually liked Sam & Luka toggether-I must have been the only one! But the insta-family thing seemed right for Luka, since he wants more kids.

Duh. That goes without saying. Dr. Doug Ross was, is, and always will be the hottest ER doc of all time.
Seems like they're trying to get Dr. Whatshisname (John L) to be all hotheaded and yelling parents the way Doug used to.
And they're trying to make Morris all cranky and love-to-hate lke Dr. Romano.
Neither is doing a very good job of it.

I'm glad that the wedding went through, although from the preivews you knew it would. I'm also curious how Neela's parents will take it. Especially after their reaction when Neela quit medicine.
Morris seemed to know what he was doing last night. That was a shocker. I'm not sure that I like that, though.

I thought Luca and Abby broke up mainly because they both had issues. He didn't communicate well and was drinking quite a bit it seemed. She wasn't the best of communicators either, always depressed/moody I think mainly due to her family's issues, and was a recovering alcoholic. I remember him saying to her while they were walking that she could never be happy or something like that.
It seems like they both worked through their issues in some ways and so hopefully it'll work.

He gave her a compass because they always find their way back to each other.

I think I might be leaving a few things out:
Luka came in with a bunch of presents for various people and gave 1 Dr. and 3 nurses the night off for Chris. Eve. The drs played rock/paper/scissors to see who would get it and Neela won. She left to pack for her honeymoon, telling Abby that she was nervous about having Christ. dinner with Gallant's family.
Luka kept pulling Abby aside to flirt with her and everyone was noticing it.
Haleh was looking for backup singers for the Christmas party. Morris said he was a great singer and she gave him a dirty look. She auditioned everyone and they were all awful, but Morris was amazing and wound up being the guy she picked.
A little girl came in who had been hit by a stray bullet in a gang shooting. Pratt worked on her and worked on her. While they were still trying to get her heart to start beating the cops brought in the two boys who were the shooters - young teens. Pratt chewed them out about how their stray bullet was gonig to cost this 6 year old girl her life on Christmas Eve. She eventually died.
A company had tried to sponsor an "inclusive" holiday party and had a santa, a guy dressed up for Kwanzaa, and some guy wearing a blue and silver suit (I guess for Hanukkah) and they got into a fight and were all at the ER. The Santa guy was an ass and kept harassing the other two and all the nurses and doctors. There was a group of of about 5 blind black kids singing carols in the ER and the Santa started harassing them too - naming them Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, etc. and jsut being a jerk. Eve got fed up with him (the Santa), punched him and poured his own urine sample on him while he was lying on the ground. She later got fired for it - right after her boyfriend dumped her - all on Christmas Eve. She freaked out and left the ER screaming at everyone about how they were out to get her and screw all of them anyway.
At the Christmas party, Luka gives Abby her present - a brass compass. She looks at him puzzled and he says it's becuse somehow they always find their way back to each other. She gets very serious and says they have to talk - outside. Luka follows her out, obviously thinking she's gonig to break up. She tells him she's pregnant.
The end.
I think those are the highlights, but I feel like I left something out. Maybe someone else can fill in what I forgot.

As for the little girl... They sort of leave it up in the air as to her outcome.
IMO it sounded like it was Helle (sp?) singing when Morris was. So I thought that she was so frustrated with the "talent" that she just recorded herself on back up and had him lip synch.

What made her do is was because Alex was telling his friend that his dad was dead. When Sam confronted him on it, he said that his dad, "might as well be" because he didn't care about him. Sam told him that wasn't true, but Alex thought that she was lying.

Not too exciting, but here's a quick run down of what happened:
~Abby was going to have an abortion, but as her name was called at the clinic, she decided against it, and in the end told Luca that she didn't go through with it, and thought they should keep the baby.
~The whole thing with Neela and Gallant was pushed to next week
~Ray's band got a call to L.A. to play for some big wigs and possibly get signed to a label, so he asked Carrie for a month off. At first she said no, but then agreed...to accept his resignation. He was thrown off by that, but acquiesced and quit the hospital. Later as he's talking with one of his band mates about it, he finds out that since he hasn't been around as much as he should be for practices they want him out.
~Clemente got hassled by some out of state cops for being with their partner's wife.

I recently started watching ER again, and I'm thinking it involves another woman for sure. Oh and I think there are gonna be some sparks because I have heard rumors that Dr. Carter has signed to return for 4 episodes, with the first one being in the next few weeks. It could be interesting if he's back at County with Abby being pregnant, and how sad he was over losing his baby and everything.

The 4 episodes with Carter are going to take place in Africa, not at County General. I just read an article about it in TV Guide the other day. They've set up a big set in South Africa to shoot the scenes.
Spoiler (text in white below):
The article said that Pratt is going to go join Carter in Africa for I think 1-2 of the on-location episodes. They also hinted that there may be a romance between Pratt & one of the nurses out there in Africa.

I agree! I'm hoping this will be a new Abby. The writers need to loosen her up a bit. I'm still adjusting to the whole Luka and Abby relationship. But there is something attractive about their oddball match up.

Our cable is out !! Can anyone give major points of interest from last night? I don't know what I'll do if TWC doesn't come to fix it today. A weekend w/o cable!!Okay, let's see...
*Pratt's friend (the father of that kid he's got volunteering at the hospital) came in with a cop. I think he got pulled over for drunk driving, or something. The cop asked Pratt to draw a blood sample so they could see if the guy was legally drunk, as he suspected he was. The father asked Pratt to "help him out" so Pratt ended up drawing his own blood & labelling it with the father's name & giving it to the cop to cover for him. They tried to hide the situation from the son, but later he thanked Pratt for helping his dad out, & said he'd seen him with the cop & knew what was going on.
*Abby is all caught up in thinking about all of the things they have to do/buy before the baby comes (strollers, chaning tables, etc.) Luka thinks she's nuts, but it's all she can think about - she couldn't even sleep. She's also worried about what people at the hospital are going to say/think when they find out, & she wants to wait to tell them later. Luka says he already told his dad, but since his dad is in Croatia, "who's he gonna tell?" So they go shopping for baby stuff. She straps a baby carrier on to Luka in the store & they check out other accessories & supplies. Then someone from the hospital pharmacy walks in so she ducks & pulls Luka into a dressing room to hide from her. Luka asks why she's worried if the lady sees them since he doesn't even know her. Abby tells him that every woman in the hospital knows who he is, & if she sees them together in the baby store buying stuff, she'll find out about the baby. After shopping, Abby realizes that maybe they'll need to buy 2 of everything so they can have what they need at his apt. & at hers. Then Luka informs her that identical twins run in his family. He makes a joke that if things don't work out with them, they wouldn't have to have a custody battle because there would be 2 identical children - one for him & one for her. :p
*That teenage girl that Ray was sleeping with a few weeks ago showed up at the hospital with scars & bruises on her face. She finally admitted to Ray that her dad did it because they got in a fight, & she said it wasn't the first time. He made her let him call the police, & promised her that they'd put him in jail. She was worried that he'd come after her when he got out. Ray convinced her to go to CA to live with her older sister - apparently dad doesn't know where the sister is. Ray collected $$ from some other docs to buy her the plane ticket, & put her in a cab. Dad walked up just as she was getting in, so Ray sent her away & then roughed up the dad a bit & told him he'd never see his daughter again.
*Neela & Gallant went to visit one of his Army buddies in the VA hospital. The guy had served with Gallant in Iraq, & was really messed up. He told Gallant he wanted to go back to Iraq, but they wouldn't let him. Afterwards he & Neela went to look at an apt. to possibly rent. On the way there, he told her that HE wants to go back to Iraq too! He said he thought he could come back & be with her, but he just can't stay there (in Chicago) knowing what's going on over in Iraq & knowing that people need him over there. Neela said "but I need you too!" & his response was basically that it's just not the same. She suggested he volunteer at the VA hospital, he said no, not good enough. Then she suggested she could go to Iraq with him & volunteer at a hospital or something, but he said no - too dangerous for her. They were both upset & crying when the show ended. :(
*Other stuff - that surgical doctor (I can't remember his name) was the attending doc in the ER for some reason that day, & he was struggling to handle the job. He had a comotose old lady patient who he wanted to treat, but some doctor from the ICU said they wouldn't take her because she was going to die & they couldn't spare the bed for her over another patient who they could really help. The lady's husband was really upset, but in the end the doctor arranged for her to be transfered to a private hospital where they were able/willing to help her out, so the hubby was grateful. Also, Morris was pestering Pratt for dating advice because he had a date with an African American woman. Pratt kept putting him off. Finally Morris admitted that he has a problem with dating - especially because of his 4 nipples! He opened his shirt to show Pratt that he does in fact have 2 extra nipples. In the end, the girl showed up, he admitted to his extra nipple situation, & surprisingly enough she said "Well I have 6 toes on my left foot!" & they laughed & seemed to hit it off (to Pratt's amazement).

The whole identical twin thing bugged me. Especially for a medical show. My understanding is that identical twins are a freak occurance (with no proven genectic connection) whereas fraternal twins would be a possibility only if they run on the MOTHER's side.

Ya know, this bugged me too, and I was really suprised b/c ER is usually fairly accurate with it's medical situations. So...I googled it. :p Here's something that I came up with...
There is no doubt that twinning seems to run in some families. Closer investigation reveals that this is mainly confined to nonidentical, or fraternal (dizygotic - DZ) twins, although there are a few rare families with extraordinary numbers of identical (monozygotic - MZ) twins. Furthermore, the increased chance of twinning seems to be entirely a property of the mother, not the father. Of course, there are counter examples to all these rules, and there are even families with large numbers of both MZ and DZ twins. At the moment it is not clear whether these just occur by chance and we get to hear about them due to reporting bias (they always make great front page stories) or whether they represent some new biological mechanism.
