Did anyone watch last night? What did you all think?

I watched out of curiousity as much of the show is filmed in the town we live. I didn't care for it too much. It just never hooked me. I'm betting it doesn't last. I think they only made 6 episodes.

I watched some of it as it was on after Grey's. I kind of liked it, but turned it off midway through because I was recording it and needed to get to bed. I did like it a lot better than 6 Degrees.

I watched it for the same reason. Well I don't live in that town, but I know where it is and has been there many times. I was curious as to what I would see. I thought it was just ok!

I actually liked this show too, I think it has great potential. Plus, I really like that girl from "That 70's Show".

The town square scenes and business scenes were filmed in Newnan. The residential scenes as well as the college scenes were filmed in Decatur (Agnes Scott College).

Cool! I didn't know it was filmed in GA.

I wasn't sure about this show last week - but after watching last night, I think it has potential. I like it much better than 6 Degrees.

I think part of why I'm kind of into it has to do with the fact that it is a pretty simple stroy - but there's quite a bit of potential to do a lot with the characters.

I also love that it very much feels like a show that represents my age group fairly well, a generational show where the flashbacks seem so familiar and you can relate - at least in some way- to some of the things the characters have been through/are going through.

I hate to add another show to watch - but will consider this one, even though I really just want my Men In Trees back. ;)

eli1126
03-31-2007, 08:33 AM
I'm still out on it too. I really like Laura Pepron (I hope that's her name), but there are some aspects that are a little weird for me. No one knows who Sam's Dad is? Or everyone knows except the Dad? The brother who is content to sit with his Dad inside the house and the shut in friend are a little too much alike. I think it may be better if the brother was pissed at Nick for abandoning the family or something even though they did stay in touch by phone.

southerner
03-31-2007, 08:07 PM
I watched it and liked it well enough to keep watching. Have a few questions that might have gotten answered in the first episode.

Why did he (Nick) move back home? Why did he ever leave?

Do we know what his book is about? They kept saying it's fiction, but I'm assuming it has some real life elements to it?

Who are those two guys who live w/ the shut in boy? Do they tie into the other characters at all?

littlelove8138
04-03-2007, 10:49 AM
sounds like there was a movie as well. but they don't really say everything that happened in the book yet.

there all friends. in the pilot i think they were all at Nick's house seeing him off.

1. He came back home because there was a one day teaching assignment there. IIRC, at first he wasn't going to come back but then something happened that made him change his mind. Drawing a blank right now as to what that was. He originally left to go backpacking in Europe after high school. He was only supposed to be gone I think 6 weeks. He just never made it back.

2. Only that the book mirrors events that happended to him and his friends as children and teenagers. Several characters are based on some of his real life friends and of course his girlfriend Hannah (Anna).

3. The two other guys that live with the shut in are part of his original group of friends in high school. Those three, plus the now married one and Hannah were all at his house to see him off when he left for Europe.

I don't mind this show. I am interested to find out if Sam is really his or this other "passing through" town guy. I'll keep watching it. It on at a perfect time so I can't help but see it since I'm already watching that channel. I don't think I would search it out though. I wouldn't plan my days schedule around being able to see the show like I do others, but since I'm already there, it's something to watch before bedtime. :)

I've felt the same way about this show until last week's cliffhanger previews! Now I'm really interested to see what's going to happen to Sam and how that will tie in with the father issues. I also thought the story line of Nick and Sam getting the girl to like Sam was really pretty cute.

Argh! I am so annoyed with the editing of the promos of this show. They totally made it look like the nurse said "Immediate family only." and Hannah reached out her hand to Nick as if to say he was family. HOWEVER, that is not how it played out at all. grrrrr.

So, next week is the season finale. I don't have a single guess as to who Nick is going to choose!

Does anyone know what other shows the actor who plays Eddie has been on? He looks so familiar to me.

Here's his bio, (http://abc.go.com/primetime/octoberroad/index?pn=bio&name=geoffstults) I had to go look a few weeks ago b/c I couldn't place him either. I think he looks a like Peter Krause:

I love this show and am totally hooked (and sad that next week is the finale), but does anyone else think that the whole BigCat/revenge scenario is a tad far-fetched?? I come from a small town and I just can't imagine too many guys who would go to such lengths to seek revenge. I don't know. I suppose there are those kind of jerks out there!

I really hope we dont' know for quite a while if Nick is the father. I sort of like the whole wondering thing (even though I do think he is).

littlelove8138

i'm not so sure someone would go all out like big kat just to mess with them but makes good drama.

eli1126
04-23-2007, 10:27 AM
I think the whole Big Kat storyline is to make us not like him or feel bad that Hannah's dumped him. Eventually Hannah will find out what he's done and be disgusted...and go straight to Nick :D

cbiggers
11-24-2007, 06:28 PM
I think it was a "real" episode, like maybe one that should have been aired last season but then didn't. It was definitely a continuation from the end of last season. I thought it was good and I was sooo happy that Owen finally went home. It was a cute episode. I still don't really get why it wasn't the season opener.

docoNY
11-25-2007, 09:53 AM
yeah that was all new stuff that was on the Thu episode and its weird that they called it a preview?!

sea74
11-25-2007, 10:35 AM
So, since people have seen the "preview" epi (which I agree was NOT a preview!) let's discuss ...

I'm bad w/character names but at the very end of the show The guy who went to NYC w/the writer-dude showed up at Hannah's door and said "we need to tell him (writer dude) the truth." So does this mean Sam is that guy's kid? If it is, that will be interesting. And if Sam is his kid I bet that's why he never moved out of the Ridge and why he's kind of resentful.

cbiggers

They certainly were wanting us to think that. But, if that is the case, then Hannah really has done a number on a few people. We have met Sam's "real" dad supposedly. So, why would Eddie allow her to perpetuate that lie all this time???? And she has led that guy to believe that he is really Sam's dad? That just borders on really mean and sick. It'll be interesting to see what really happens.

docoNY
11-25-2007, 12:30 PM
I agree they did let us think that Eddie is the dad but guess we will find out more on Monday. Maybe the 'real' dad knows he is not the real dad?! and what about the bartender girl - she digs Eddie and she won't be too happy if Eddie is the father of her friends kid (if it works out that way)

sea74
11-25-2007, 06:16 PM
I don't think the "real" dad is really the dad. I think Hannah just said that the to the writer guy. I don't think the rich "real" dad thinks he's the dad. Also, I thought that same thing, that the bartender girl will be PO'ed if Eddie is the dad and Hannah never told her. It will be pretty interesting.

The one thing I HATE, HATE, HATE about this show is that it is SOOOO overwritten. It's like the writers are tying way too hard to write hip, fresh scripts and they use too many really forced analogies, etc. Anyone else think so?

NYN
11-25-2007, 08:45 PM
Yes, I agree that that was no "preview" episode. I caught it by chance but I'm glad I did! I have no idea where they are going either but I will be annoyed if Eddie is the father. Also annoyed that she seems to be falling for her ex (the bad guy -- forget his name) again.

And finally, yes, this show is totally overwritten...even bordering on pretty bad writing, and yet I get so sucked in!

I am not happy with this season at all.

It's like they completely abandoned the fact that Big Cat is a Big Jerk.

I, too, think they're setting it up for Eddie to be Sam's dad. I hope that's just creative writing.

I've seen every episode except the pilot. And I just don't understand - did he leave for Europe and never talk to Hannah again for 10 years? How is that possible? I understand moving away and not coming back to the town, but cutting everyone off is strange to me - and in Hannah's shoes, wouldn't she have tried to contact Nick via his brother/dad? Wouldn't they have passed news of her on to Nick in the first year or two at least?

My DH and I got together in high school, we went to different colleges and even studied abroad in different countries where we didn't see each other for months - and I just can't conceive cutting off contact with someone I loved and was in a serious relationship with.

I think I'm the only person who likes the show this year better than last year. The only thing really bugging me this year is the whole "abandoning the fact that Big Cat is a jerk" thing. That is SO getting on my nerves.

Other than that I think it is stronger this year, but could still use some work on the writing. I don't have anything else to watch Mondays...so.

Anyone catch the end of the show last night? I was only 1/2 watching and I kept wondering if the guy (can't remember his name) who screwed the friends wife was going to off himself because he had now friends. Then the show ended and when I looked up at the TV I saw the cheater guy and it went off. I wasn't sure if they were showing him getting ready to do something or what.

Thanks!

Where is this filmed?

Last season it was filmed in and around Atlanta. Most of the town scenes you see are still their shots from last season. The town square shots, courthouse, etc. are in Newnan, GA. The college campus shots are Agnes Scott College in Decatur. I believe a lot of the houses they show are around the Grant Park area.

His name is Ikey (sp?) and he took a job with Big Cat. They really only showed him in Big Cat's office and putting on the hat or jacket or whatever-no words exchanged. I guess he really needs a job and has no choice, but ugh.

I'm glad they're finally revisiting the Big Cat's assy ways. Hannah is so clueless. I really can't believe how clueless he is.

Yeah I agree. It seemed like before she kind of knew that Big Cat could be a jerk so I don't understand why she couldn't see Janet's point.

Big Cat is a total jerk and I hope he gets his soon. BUT ... anyone think he's kind of hot :o

LeslieR THANK YOU! So ... he took a job w/Big Cat. I guess he figures if his friends are not going to welcome him back, he has nothing to lose. Maybe he'll end up some how taking Big Cat (why to I feel so lame typing his name  ) down from the "inside" and then win back his friends?

I might be the last person on earth, but I just heard that ABC canceled October Road.:( I'm so annoyed that we'll never find out who is Sam's dad!

I agree! I hate it when they leave shows hanging like this. Can't they at least come back with one freakin' episode to tie up loose ends? I mean really!
