I did a search and couldn't find anything on this. Does anyone have problems with their hands and feet itching? I have both but mostly in the feet. I can't stop scratching them. Is there anything I can put on them to calm it down? This is a very weird symptom to have.

When my feet swell they get tingly and itchy. Try putting on that anti itch lotion on your hands and feet twice a day and see if that helps. That has to be annoying.

I do remember being very itchy, but I don't remember for sure which parts of my body--it might have been only my stomach.
Maybe some calamine lotion, calendula lotion, ice water (that might lead to dry skin, though, which would lead to a different itch) or even oil (olive or vitamin E, which aids in healing, come to mind) would help?
It's likely not, since it's rare, but it could be an indication of a serious problem while pregnant. I suggest talking to your midwife/doctor/whomever you have and/or trust to be positive about that.
I hope that you get relief soon!

I had entire-body itch (the only spots that didn't itch were my hands & feet) during my pregnancy, from month 3 on up to 1 week PP.
Every dr I saw told me it was hormone-related and sadly each of the treatments I received only worked for a short time. Now I have dark 'splotches' on my belly from all the scratching; :(

I was diagnosed with cholestasis of pregnancy (also known as ICP) last week. The main symptom is incessant itching without the presence of a rash, and can be worse on hands and feet (mine isn't really, it's pretty generalized) and is often worse at night. It generally starts in the third trimester, and is often written off as normal pregnancy itching. Anyone who has had it can tell you that there is nothing normal about the intensity of the itching that comes with ICP - it can be consuming.
I don't want to worry you but the condition can carry some risks to the baby, so I'd call your doctor on Monday and ask for some labs to be drawn to rule out the condition (serum bile acids level being the most important because it will definitively diagnose ICP, but sometimes a liver function panel too).
The www.itchymoms.com website is a great resource.

Extra-strength Gold-Bond foot powder worked wonders!

When I complained to my OB about "the itchies" the 1st thing he asked was if my hands/feet itched and he wanted to look at them. He said they looked fine, so it was just an annoyance and told me what to use.
Just to be safe, i'd tell your OB that its bothering you to make sure its a normal annoyance and not something more.
Good luck!

So I called the OB's office and left a message for the nurse with my symptoms. She called back to ask some additional questions and then ran it by the doctor. Then she called back to say the doctor said to just go to my primary family physician. I was a little shocked that it didn't even cross her mind to check for anything. Like my family doc is going to know about this stuff with PG women.
