I'll be in Paris next month for about 5-6 days. I'll be honest-it's not my cup of tea-so when I'm finished with my business there I'd like to take the train to another country. Though I am tempted to go back to Belgium (I LOVE IT THERE) I'd rather go somewhere I haven't been before. I'm thinking Luxembourg will be interesting.
So has anyone been before? Where did you go? Where WOULD you go? Tips and advice appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Luxembourg is so beautiful. It was a long time ago that I was there, but it was one of the more memorable parts of my 2-week trip to Europe. I will say that I think it was more memorable b/c we were there during the holidays and there were so many celebrations and things going on. After being there for 2 days, there wasn't much to do. I was with some people whose sole purpose was to go to the Villeroy and Boch Factory Outlet which was actually pretty fun. :)
We went to Lux City. We drove from Paris and on the way, we visited and toured a couple of beautiful castles which seems to be a pretty popular thing to do there. We also went to the Palace of the Grand Dukes, really just to see it and take pictures. It was pretty fab! The other "touristy" thing we did was visit the National Museum of Art.
After those things, we were kinda "spent". But we had a nice time walking along the river, as cold as it was, and eating at some pretty nice restaurants. And we stayed at the Intercontinental which was fab! But this was a while ago and don't know what it's like now.

I'm not sure how much time you have, but I am currently planning a trip to Germany's Mosel River valley (it's part of a larger trip, but I'm really looking forward to this leg). It is only about a half hour from Luxembourg City. Everything I have read says the Mosel valley (which actually flows into Luxembourg as well) is absolutely beautiful (it's a wine growing area). If you have a few days you might want to go from Luxembourg City to some of the smaller towns in Luxembourg and Germany along the Mosel. Trier is in Germany right near the Luxembourg border and it sounds like an interesting place to visit (pretty architecture, interesting city). A little further along the Mosel (according to Google maps, about two hours from Luxembourg city) is the city of Cochem, which is supposed to be quaint and very pretty. It also features an old medieval castle.
You could also look into a boat cruise along the Mosel in Luxembourg--my guidebook says they run from Easter until the fall, so it sounds like those will be running when you are there.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of Luxembourg. We are contemplating heading there as part of our Mosel trip, but aren't sure if we'll have time (we only have a few days).

I've just driven through Luxembourg-- never seen the sights, unfortunately. But I just wanted to pop in and say that Heather, I really think you're going to like Paris more this time. I just have a feeling that you will. :D Have a wonderful time!!

LOL, Rosebud I love that you don't give up on me! :) :D
Poppy and Adaya Thanks so much! I really don't have a time limit, but I'm thinking I might stay an extra 2-3 days. Mosel River Valley just sounds so beautiful. I also read that Luxembourg (for as small as it is!) has more Michelin rated restaurants (9 stars!) than any other country in the world. Yeah, I am a foodie so this is a good thing LOL!

AAAH I am so indecisive! I forgot that the Chunnel only takes about 2 1/2 to London. I've never been to London. AAHHH decisions, decisions!
Thanks again for the Luxembourg info!
