Life has been so crazy around here that I can't believe I got DD in bed tonight by 10:30 and have a chance to post! We just moved into our new house and now have the task of getting everything unpacked and put away.

Christmas gifts - I'll probably buy her a foam play mat and some new diapers. I'm leaving all the fun stuff for the grandparents since I know they're going all out!

Hailey had her WBV today and the poor thing did not like being poked by those needles. They tested her iron which was normal, gave her the hepB and her flu shot. The poor thing has never screamed so much in her life!

weight: 19.13 lbs
height: 28.5 in

Her growth has really leveled out in the past two months. She even lost a couple of pounds from being so active (which explains why I lost a few more lbs). The doc wasn't worried at all and showed that she's as big as an 11m and as tall as a 12m baby.

Carrie ~ Thanks.

Mrs.Ski ~ No, they haven't asked about a stool sample. We did get the appt for the ped GI but it isn't until January. I was hoping it would be earlier but we have to wait about a month and a half. He's never had antibiotics and the only med he's on is the generic miralax.

aloha ~ Thanks.

dpangel ~ Congrats on moving!

DS update ~ As mentioned above we got the appt to the pediatric GI doc but have to wait for about a month and a half. I just hope the weather is good that day as it's at least a 2 1/2 hour drive (probably 3 hours to 3 1/2 hours). In the meantime we have an appt for an echo for a possible heart problem. I swear the hits just coming for us. I seriously hope next year is better.

As an experiment we've started giving him the hypoallergenic formula (at $25+ a can) to see if it helps with things. So far there has been a little improvement so that's a good thing.

AUg2002, ADORABLE pics!! Did you have yours done at Portrait Innovations as well? The tree looks the same as the one in our pictures.

Danea, congrats on the new house!!! What a great Christmas gift for your family.

Kim, I so agree with you on the shopping. I've been hitting the stores Thurs mornings, which are not too busy. I'm sure you'll come up with plenty of ideas.

Meri, I hope everything goes fine with the GI, but that makes me shake my head that you have to wait so long to get in.

Paty had her 9 month WBV this week. Her weight slowed a tad bit :)

DS Update ~ He's got a pretty loud murmur and we are anxiously awaiting the results of the echo. Unfortunately we won't have them for about 7 to 10 days. For as loud as he is it's pathological in nature. Now we just have to wait to find out what. I swear that we definitely in need of some good luck very soon. My poor little boy has been through so much. So now we'll probably be adding a cardiologist visit to our list of docs. As if the ped GI doc wasn't enough.

Need to get the rest of the Christmas cards ready. Most of the presents are bought with the exception of a few small things that we will get later this week. I'm so glad that everything is wrapped and hidden away so little eyes can't find it.

We are in a nasty ice storm that started early Sunday. There are some without power (I know I have an aunt that has been without it all day and I'm pretty sure my aunt and uncle in SW MO don't have any either). The roads are bad. I'd love to stay inside but have an appt tomorrow. Wish they would have let us come for it on Friday but they decided Tuesday would be a much better day for it. Yeah....I knew things would be a mess given the weather forecast. We are in for another round tonight/tomorrow and then again tomorrow evening/Wednesday. And then we're supposed to get snow the rest of the week through the weekend. Looks like winter is upon us.

Aug2002 ~ What an adorable pic of your girls!

Carrie ~ I was hoping that we'd get an emergency appt and would either go in mid to late December or just after the first of the year. I really wasn't expecting to have to wait until the 23rd to go.

Aug 2002 Such a cute picture!!

Jenah Congratulations, she is beautiful!! I am thrilled for you.

Vax We've skipped the flu shot and roto virus (which he ended up having anyway).

Christmas gifts We've gotten him the Radio Flyer Walker Wagon, a little Radio Flyer bike and the Fisher Price Laugh n' Learn home. He doesn't have very many toys so we were trying to make up for it!

Update Well, good news, Malcolm graduated from his DOC Band today!!!! We are so excited. The CEO of the company was there at the exit interview and he got a graduate certificate and everything. :) We are thrilled with how his head turned out- it's perfectly round and looks just amazing.

Unfortunately with the crawling his torticollis is back in a big way so we don't get to stop the weekly PT anytime soon, but we're working hard with him! He can army crawl now and has pulled himself to standing twice.

Can you believe I am online right now ordering his 1 year party invitations?!?! Unbelievable. He turns 11 months this week!

Aug2002 Your girls are gorgeous!!!

usaf I'll keep you all in my prayers! You were looking for enfamil coupons earlier. If you have a Jewel near you and use Enfamil Next Step ProSobee Lipil soy formula, I've got a store coupon for $8.00 off any size can that I'll mail to you. It expires 02-21-08.

Congratulations Malcolm!!!!! What exciting news.

We got a bit of the Midwest ice storm. It's to rain most of today and freeze tonight, so tomorrow should just be exceptional (note sarcasm). DH has had a couple late starts in the last 2 weeks and he's expecting they'll send them home early today. I think I want to work for the government. But no, I work for a tax firm and we NEVER close in Chicago.

I've decided to take the plunge and get a college education. At almost 35. I'm not excited about being administrative my entire life without trying something. I graduated from cosmetology school 15 years ago, but never really went anywhere with it because they were a dime a dozen and doing roller sets and pin curls on the elderly wasn't something I truly wanted. So, I'm taking steps to find out the how's and where's and if I can truly find the time. My department is going through a re-org and while I'm only a itty-bitty-bit worried about my job, I'm thinking I won't loose it, but will be taking on more work. Hence the finding the time to be able to do school work and still be a good and involved mom.

9 mo. wbv stats:
Height:29 inches 75th %
Weight: 18lbs. 5oz. 10th %
Head: 46 1/2

His weight dropped into the 10th percentile, ped wasn't concerned, he's got plenty of meat on his bones and said it's just because he's busy keeping up with his big brother. He's just a lean little thing. :) He got 3 shots one of which was the flu shot, so we go back in a month for a booster, then back for his 12 month. OMG, how can that be??? :(

Ack! Sorry I've been MIA for so long. Things, as always, are crazy around here.

Updated stats:

Me: Megan, 31
DH: S, 31
Married: 8/02

DS: Aidan & Owen
Birthdate: 2/1/07
Stats at birth: A: 5 lb 11 oz; O: 5 lb 7.5 oz
Other children: Ashley 8/05

Well, I can't even remember what the boys were doing the last time I posted! Now Aidan is army-crawling, clapping and getting up on his knees all the time. Owen is regular crawling, gets up on his knees sometimes, loves to "play catch" (i.e., you toss a ball in his lap and he picks it up and tries to throw it back) and picking up his cheeriors with his finger and thumb. I think it's funny how they're developing differently...while Aidan loves to clap right now, Owen hasn't done it once. But then Owen is much more coordinated with his cheerios.

We haven't started table food yet, but we're planning to do it soon. It boggles my mind that these boys will be turning one in about seven weeks. I just can't believe it! My DD seemed so much older than the boys at this age. The thought of giving them cake in 7 weeks seems crazy. But then again, they change so much so quickly so I guess a lot can happen in 7 weeks!

Just chugging along. Sophie is keeping me plenty busy. She's army crawling, although she will do the hands and knees thing every once in a while. She's pulling up like mad, claps and waves. She also barks like a dog, every time our dog barks. It's pretty cute!

DS had his 10.5 mos WBV (yeah, pretty late)

Wt: 20lbs 7.5oz
Ht: 29.75 in
HC: 17.75 in

DS is crawling like crazy and is very quick. He's been cruising around for a while and will stand on his own for a few seconds. He tried taking a step yesterday then grabbed onto me for dear life. He loves climbing (or trying to climb things). I ended up lowering his crib mattress all the way because I always had this terrible feeling that he'll end up catapulting himself out of his crib one day.

So far he has his 2 bottom teeth and one of his top teeth looks ready to break through soon. He seems to be getting 1 tooth per month.

He's loving his finger foods and I must confess, it's so much easier. Just lay the food in front of him and let him go at it.

njnewyearsbride- Very cute!

Finger Foods~ It appears that my daughter has an obsession with cheese and pancakes. She can't get enough.

Immunizations~ I know that it is kind off late to be asking but anybody read up on this and have chosen not to do immunizations? Just curious.

What adorable little ones! Love the pictures of the kids with Santa.

Finger foods - pancakes, cheerios, cheese crumbles, diced up bananas, pears, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, chopped up meatballs, chopped up carrots, green beans, bread, crackers, scrambled egg yolk

Immunizations - So far I've following my doctor's guidelines, but I think I might delay the MMR shot that he is suppose to get at his 1 year visit until later on. I might also delay or not have him get the chicken pox one at all. I have requested the book by Dr. Sears from our library and need to read it. I'd be interested to hear what others are doing.

finger foods: hmm...I'm a slacker, actually, I'm such a chicken when it comes to finger foods, I was w/ Landon too, I am constantly worried about choking...so far, he's had cheerios, clubhouse crackers (I like them because they're really soft), saltine crackers, bread, and last night, I cut up a couple of tiny pieces of pasta and he spit the first bite out, but ate the rest.

immunizations: I didn't delay any with Landon, I just went along w/ what the ped. suggested, but I'm not sure, I need to read before the 12 mo. wbv.

Happy Holidays Moms!!!

Life has been a real treat around here. We spent 2.5 hours in the ER last night with Bennie. I was giving the kids a bath and while washing DD up really quick, Ben stood up in the tub. As I twisted to sit him down, he slide down to his hands and knees and started to cry a bit. I picked him up to sit him on his bottom and DD started hysterically crying. I turned Ben over and he was bleeding from his eyebrow.

3 stitches later and me feeling like everyone in the ER, including the Dr. and nurses making me out to be a super bad mom, all is OK. Ben slept great, woke up super happy (even tho sporting a shiner) and ready for the day.

I'm just devastated about this and sick over the fact that the nurses and Dr. thought I was hurting my own child. When I said he slipped in the tub, they immediately said 'where were you'. Right next to the tub, sitting on the floor. It all happened in a matter of seconds. Whenever he even thinks about trying to stand up, I distract him with bath toys or just take him out of the tub. Then they asked how he got the two other small bruises on his head. I was like 'lady, he's 10 months old and cruising furniture. He's not paying attention and is forever bouncing off furniture or toys'. I can't strap him in a chair 12 hours a day or hover over him constantly. But I also don't leave him alone in a room for more than a few seconds and I make sure that anything that could harm him is out of his reach. If I have to run to the basement with laundry, he goes in his crib with toys so I can have a few minutes to sort and change the load of clothes.

On a happier note, my niece came home from the hospital last week and is doing very well at home. They did have to take her to the ER because she was vomiting and feverish. Turns out she was going through withdrawal from a couple medications. They got her all fixed up and she was home the same day.

Hope everyone had a great holiday with their newest additions! We sure did!

finger foods We've all but given up on baby foods. John eats what we eat, just shredded up or diced small. He eats egg yolks, cheese, chicken, turkey, ground meat, noodles of all kinds, green beans (all time favorite food), yellow beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower (all cooked), breads of all kinds, ham shredded or diced, etc, etc, etc. We started with Cheerios and Gerber puffs around 6 1/2 months and haven't looked back much! So for example, today:

Breakfast: Rice Chex and bananas
Snack: Zwieback
Lunch: Turkey, cheese and green beans
Snack: Arrowroot
Dinner: spiral ham, peas, rice, and bread (I'm guessing as this is what we are eating!)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas... Our was eventfully to say the least...

Saturday night at 2am...
this all started about 10p Friday dec 21. evening, Madi as running a fever of
101.2 and then it went up to 101.8. she was very larthgic and not
all there... I woke Eric up and asked what we should do... Gave her
the Tylenol and it seem to go down it was 99.7 when we went to
sleep. Saturday madi was acting fine, so my niece and Madi and I
went shopping for last minute Christmas shopping. she was fine,
acting normal well about 1 hour after we got home, Eric said she was
really Hot, so I took her temp it was back to 100.8 so I gave her
more Tylenol. About 1am she woke up screaming so we gave her another
dose and about 15 minutes later he was vomiting. I called the Dr.
he said to take her to the HF hospital on West Rd. We got there about
2am her fever had risen to 103.1, they gave her Motrin around 2:30.
Then they gave her an IV and took blood. They also tested her for
RSV and Flu, both came back neg. but her blood work showed that her
white blood count was really high and that they were being produced
so rapidly that they were underdeveloped. So they transported us by
Ambulance to Children's we got here around 6am and have been here
ever since. They are saying that she will be her for 24-48 hours so
that means her first Christmas is in a hospital... my heart ache's
right now. I've cried so many times it's unreal. They need to get a
urine sample but the bag keeps coming off. They tried to catherize
her, but no such luck, plus she so raw that she just in pain. They
are giving her this antibiotics every 12 hours and the blood culture
takes the 48 to set up. On a brighter side, if there is one... there
was a group of ladies that came in on Sunday and every year they do
gifts for all the children here and have Santa and all his helpers
come in and distribute the gifts. so because she will be here, they
said "anything she wants" so I asked for the Wii. ha just kidding.
I thought that is the most amazing gesture for all these kids. It
truly is the gift of giving. So she will still be able to see Santa
on Christmas eve. Please keep little Madi in your prayers tonight.
The nurse just came back in Sunday night and her fever is rising
again 101.8 and during the night her fever went up to 102.8...they
said they were going to have to do a blood drawl, but they gave her
some Tylenol and it's back down to normal (98.9) I hope they can find
the source to the High fevers.

Hugs,
Jen

Monday morning... Christmas eve
Well it was an eventful evening. Eric was soooo kind to let me sleep while he stayed up with Mings all night long. She was running another fever around 1am it was 101.7 so they gave her some Motrin, Eric was doing the cool compresses and they rechecked her 1.5 hours later and it was 102.8, so they gave her some Tylenol. It finally went down to 99.8, not great but alot better.

The dr's said that there is a slight collapse of her left lung and she's probably has a case of Viral Phenumona. They just took some bloodwork and just have to wait to see what will happen now.

The resident just left and yes there is Phenumona and were still waiting on the culture results. She's still getting the high fevers about every 6-8 hours. One of the major things they need to happen is for her to have NO Fever for 24 hours... so looks like were here thru Christmas.

She did get some sleep today and is starting to act a little more like Madi again.

I'm so furious right now. Her Ped's still hasn't even called to check on her. ERRRRRRR

on another note My mings is 11 months old today... she even cracked a little smile when we told her...

Tuesday morning... Christmas morning
so we just heard from the Dr's. It looks like we'll be able to go home today. She has Phenumona, but they can treat it from home. Her Urine results came in OK. They're still waiting on the Blood but as of right now everything is looking good. Santa came to visit last night and I swear they had to of brought her at least 15 gifts... I was so amazed and shocked. Every time the nurses switch shifts they bring her in a new little gift. She or should I say I woke up and there was a Doll and book, then they brought her 4 puppets... The people here really care for their patients. We opened up one gift yesterday and Eric got her The wonder pets save the Reindeer... :) she was so happy watching it.... It's great to see my mings back to her normal goofy self. Daddy and Her are sleeping right now. She has a little rash on her body but they think it's more viral. But it's something to watch out for. they did say she is NOT contagious thank you to everyone for all their thoughts and prayers

Merry Christmas everyone...

Hugs and Loves,
Eric, Jen and Madi Ming

Tuesday Evening (Christmas day)
we're finally home....
thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Madi is on her way to a full recovery.

Mrsski- Girl, I feel your pain....Cole always has bruises and he has had 2 black eyes. One of the ladies at daycare asked me if we should talk because she's noticed that he and I always have bruises. Um no, we don't need to talk. My bruises are from my son who loves to bite and throw. His bruises are from his little boy courageous mentality of I can do anything! Screw them, we know you are a great mom!!!!!

Hope everyone had a great holiday! I will post some X-Mas pictures soon!

Out of time, take care!

princess: I couldn't agree more w/ the buises/bites, etc. Little boys are CRAZY physical and sooooo accident prone, at least Landon was. I'm expecting nothing less with Reece, since he's already a climber! ;)

After reading some of your posts on finger foods, etc. and everything these babes are eating, I decided to skip the fight with the baby food for dinner tonight and picked up some Gerber Graduates turkey sticks (Landon loved them, they remind me of dog food, but...) anyway, I just peel the skin off and pinch little tiny pieces off and he LOVED them, he also had peas, which he like MUCH better than the pureed baby food kind. So, we're moving up...lol

Foods: I forgot to post on this. Cole eats just about anything. I usually cut up meat in tiny pieces (the size of his fingernail), give him cut up veggies or bites of whatever I'm eating. He still loves the jar fruits so I give him those at daycare. He's allergic to oatmeal and yogurt, but so far he's good with everything else.

E'sprincess Holey Smokes!! I'm so glad Madi is OK. I can relate to everything you felt. It's scary.

Finger foods Ben is doing much better with table food. His absolute favorites are canned green beans and anything with smashed potatoes. My MIL's potatoe pierogi's are a hit! Bennie also likes the Gerber toddler fruit snacks, in bitty pieces of course, Florida Natural Fruit Strips (these are SOOOOOO good) and the Gerber Toddler Cheese doodles in the cheese, veggie dip and zesty tomato flavor (yes, these are addictive and WE love them).

teeth OK, can one of your DC call mine? We have ZERO teeth here.

princess Cole is so danged cute!!! That wagon he got is the absolute best! We have the same, but it's all red with one side being a door. The kids love it. He looks so adorable and snuggly in your bed! Bennie likes to play on ours. It's so funny because he'll almost hyperventilate when I walk him over towards it.

I hope you all have a fantastic new years. Please be safe if you are traveling. It appears that the Midwest is going to get a TON of snow. It's almost a white-out in the Chicago Loop right now. Such joy.

Am I the only one going into a depression at the thought of our babies already turning one in less than two months? It kills me to think about it. This year has flown by faster than any other year!:(

Though I am sad about it, I have started thinking about the party...I've pretty much got it planned out in my head and on paper. We're going on a cruise (without babies ) the first week in Feb. and if I don't have this all planned out and invites ready to go out before we leave, I'll come back and feel totally overwhelmed! So..it's a must!

Hope everyone has a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)

I haven't even thought about B-day planning. I know I need to but I have too many other things on my mind. I think we are going to do a John Deere theme party. I guess I should get to planning!!!

J's party is planned in my head. I want to get invites done in the next two weeks as his is going to be on Feb. 9th, so that's a month away! Yikes! :) We're doing ABC/blocks theme. Block cake with ABC's on them, that kind of thing. I think it'll be fun.

Hi ladies. I'm not going to step up a new thread for us until editing of posts is back. I don't know when it's going to be restored so we'll just stay in this thread until further notice. I had hoped to have the new one up this week in honor of the first birthdays that will soon be happening. Goodness, can't believe it's been nearly a year since our first February baby decided to make an early arrival.

I'm here on the rare occasion I can be! Happy New Year!!

I think our little one's birthday party will be small & simple, probably no theme other than birthday celebrating. I have to say the John Deere, blocks and cupcake themes sound fun. Our first birthday in this group is coming so soon...maybe it happened already?

Hope everyone is well.

All the party themes sound great.

Reece's will be the first Sunday in March. I've got it pretty much all planned, need to take an 11 mo. pic and then order the invites (obviously we'll be fudging on the actual 11 mo. pic) since he won't quite be 11 mos. when I take it. ;) The theme is the #1 and the colors are blue and brown. It'll be at our house.

Birthday - Is it sad that I started planning her 1st birthday about 4-5 months ago?? LOL. I have a bunch of sites bookmarked so now I just need to go back and buy the stuff I want. Our theme is ladybugs, my inspiration is Gymbo's Little Lady onesie that I got a while back. We'll probably to a BBQ at our new house for family and a small playdate for her friends. I can't wait to get her present, a ball pit, and see how she likes it!!

TM, glad to know you are on top of it. I just wanted to make sure you saw it since the boards are kind of screwy right now.

Aug2002, I think both the sweetheart and the princess ideas are cute. Whatever you pick, you can do the other next year :) That is how I keep myself from going insane deciding on a theme. I figure I get to pick them until she is at least 5, so there is plenty of time for lots of options.

As for us, we're just doing a basic polka dot theme. A friend of mine is working on the invite and I'm planning to hit up target this weekend as I heard they had some polka dot stuff. Though with our theme, I'd be fine with various solid colored plates as well.

Boilermaker-
Exactly!! Plus I have the older one too so I still have lots of parties to plan before I have to give in to what they might want. ;)

I think Ive decided we are going to go with a "sweetheart or lovebug" theme, and tie her birthday in with Valentines. I dont want it overdone with Valentines stuff though so we'll see how it turns out. I think we are going to stick with just a "sweet party" also and have cake, a chocolate fountain with dipping items and a few other desserts.

Speaking of the birthday girl....She is 11 months old today! She has taken about 8-10 steps on her own and can stand up from the middle of the floor without holding onto anything. She's also learning how to fight back towards her big sister! Im having a hard time getting her to even try to use a sippy...Anyone else having difficulty with that? Any tips or ideas?? Ive tried a few different types but she really wants nothing to do with it.

I am still here!! Sorry I have not posted in so long. It seems like every time I sit down to post one of the girls needs me. How do they know? :)

We are doing great. Christmas was a lot of fun even if two weeks away from home was a little too long. The girls were actually fantastic travelers but Mommy was more than ready to sleep in her own bed again. Since we have been home they have been changing and advancing so much every day. It is almost like we brought home different children. In the past two weeks they have started crawling (Evie was only army crawling though Jane has been mobile for awhile), climbing up and down steps, pulling up, and cruising. And they also dropped they morning nap.

I have started planning their first birthday party but my husband wants to keep it small so I can't go too overboard. We are going to do a Neapolitan theme. In the next couple of months I also want to work on weaning them. Is anyone else planning on weaning at a year?

Princess so sorry about the daycare situation!

Birthday So Malcolm had his first birthday this past weekend! I can't believe my little man is already one. To commemorate the occasion we took a vacation to Maui with my MIL, FIL, BIL and his girlfriend- it was wonderful and M's first plane ride! He did very well and everyone was full of compliments for our mellow, smiling "hapa" guy.

We decided to go all out for his birthday party which is this weekend- yikes! We invited a large group of friends/family and most of them are coming- I think we'll have between 30-40. I am doing a blue/brown theme and it'll be in our backyard. I did order the cake (from a Hawaiian bakery-yum!) and the food (Wood Ranch bbq tri-tip, chicken, and all the sides) today and have rented chairs and tables. M has a new blue and brown Hawaiian shirt to wear :)

Happy Belated Birthday to Malcolm!

isobel - Your girls are adorable! I'm planning on weaning at a year. I've dropped one pumping session at work already and am reducing my freezer stash down. I right now weaning off the pump. Once that's done, then I will work on weaning him from nursing in the morning and at night. DS is also trying to drop that morning nap and I hate it. I NEED that nap!

Sounds like everyone is busy planning birthday parties. We are just going to have the grandparents over for cake. DS freaked out at Christmas and Thanksgiving when we were around the extended family, so I figured having all those people over on his birthday wouldn't make for a fun day for him so we are going with the small, intimate party.

Happy birthday Malcom!!!!

We have several more just around the corner.....

Isobel- The twins are adorable, you are awesome for nursing a whole year!!!

E's- Thanks! I think he's pretty cute too!

Walking- Cole is standing up on his own so I'm sure those first steps are just around the corner. He has taken a few steps off of his toys, but he hasn't stood up on his own and taken any.

Childproofing- OMG! My child is into everything. I can't lock cabinets down quick enough. It's like he woke up one day and knew how to open everything. The other day I caught him crawling up the dresser drawers.... He is going to be a handful.

Milk transitioning- Cole is allergic to cow's milk so we are transitioning to goat's milk. I've given him an ounce or so everyday and plan to increase it every week. What is everyone else doing?

Feeding schedule: Cole still takes 5 bottles a day (often 6 when he wakes up at 4am). What type of feeding schedule are you following? I feel like it's time to start moving away from bottles and on to more solid foods. He will be going to the toddler room late next month and they eat 2 meals and a snack. How can I transition him off of formula?

Crib- At what point do you move to a toddler bed? Some people say to wait as long as you can, others say switch them early.....Any thoughts?

Birthday- The invitations went out today. We have moved from John Deere to more of a country theme. It's all pretty much the same thing. It should be fun!

Bombera- Just thinking about you, hope everything is going well!

Our thread is hopping!

Happy 1st Birthday Malcolm!!! That trip to Hawaii sounds fabulous. Enjoy your party this weekend.

Growing up - Paty is definitely mobile but she isn't too much of a handful. She hasn't shown any interest in the stairs yet, so we haven't even baby gated. My biggest worry is drawers as she has shut her fingers in them twice. She does get into cabinets but I just moved anything dangerous out of cabinets she could reach vs locking them. But I may have to lock some before too long. She LOVES to empty things...bins, cabinets, bookshelves, etc.

Weaning/transitioning to milk. I'd like to start weaning her off daytime feedings at 12 months but she still doesn't take to well to cows milk. So we will start with either rice or soy (haven't done the research yet). She is still not the biggest fan of solid foods though, so it will be interesting to see how that goes. We keep offering and I hope she will take to them soon.

Birthday Party. Ours will be a little on the bigger size but that's becuase I have a big family. I'd guess we'll have 30-40 people. We're doing a multi-colored polka dot theme. I'm actually excited about planning it. A friend of mine is working on the invites but I have to get her pictures tomorrow to include, then they will go out (I still have 6 weeks though).

Isobel and CJ, the babies are precious!! Love the pictures.

walking: He started taking 6-8 steps earlier last week. It seems like each day, he gets braver and braver. I think he's just trying to keep up w/ his wild older brother! ;) He's much more efficient w/ the crawling, but getting better w/ each passing day! I'm in no hurry though! ;)

weaning/milk transitioning: Well, we're leaving on our cruise in 2.5 weeks from now. Right now, he's nursing around 5 a.m., then goes back down until around 7, I'm trying really hard not to nurse him when he wakes then, but he's super grouchy and acts like he NEEDS the boob to wake up in a good mood. (men!) So, I've just been feeding him his breakfast as soon as he wakes up, so that I can avoid that feeding and start cutting it out, then he doesn't nurse again until he goes down for his a.m. nap around 10ish, then not again until aoround 4 or so, or sometimes if he wants to nurse when he wakes up. After that, he doesn't nurse until bed time. So, what's that??? About five nursing's a day, yeah, I'm hoping that while he's w/ my mom, she can get him down to just morning and night while we're on our cruise w/ BM. I'm going to start letting him try whole milk probably next week when he turns 11 mos. to see how that goes. Landon hated it, so we'll see. I'm nervous about not leaving him enough milk when we're gone, but I've been a pumping fool! My mom swears that he doesn't "need" as much milk when I'm not around and she's not too concerened, plus he's eating so many more solids these days that it's really not a big deal to him. Mainly just when he wakes and wants to go to sleep. So...we'll see. (Gosh, that was long winded, obviously, it's been on my mind a lot lately! ;))

childproofing: Our house has been pretty much childproofed since Landon became mobile. My biggest fear is one of Landon's smaller toys laying around for Reece to find and put in his mouth...that scares me!

princess: Cole's party theme sounds like Landon's 1st b-day party theme...western! It was really cute! :)

I just bought one new can of formula and I think Im going to start adding 1 oz of milk to her 6oz bottles every time. Then every week Ill reduce the formula by an oz.

Thats how I had to do it with DD1 because she refused to take all milk at first.

Happy Belated Birthday, Malcolm!!!
Happy Birthday, Lee!!!

Walking ~ DS started walking New Year's Eve and now he never wants to sit. He's always on the move. DD and DS chase each other around the house a few times each day.

milk transition ~ Well, right now we are still on the hypoallergenic formula and will be for a while. His doctor doesn't want him to have any milk due to the allergy/issues until he's at least a year old and would like to go longer. So for right now we aren't transitioning and once he's off the formula I don't know what we are going to use.

Birthday ~ We are having a John Deere/horse theme. I made the invitations but decided to have the cake made. The last two years my mom and I made DD's cakes. I can't believe that his birthday is just a couple of days away. This first year has gone by so quickly!!

Not exactly sure what is happening but DH's step grandfather is in the hospital (admitted early early this morning) due to bleeding in his stomach and going to his bowels. They still don't know anything more than they did when we left the hospital this morning.

OMG- I am such a slacker! Things have finally settled down around here. I dropped the crazy paper route and now I don't have to get up at 2:30 am anymore. How happy am I? We had a nice Christmas at my IL's but I think I spent the whole time sleeping. The 23rd was my last day of the route and so it took a week to catch up and feel human again!

I now feel like a new person! I am 18 1/2 weeks along and was more miserable this time than I was with Zoey. That is all over now and I hate to admit that I sometimes even forget that I am pregnant. I haven't really felt the baby move yet, but the midwife thinks I might have an anterior placenta (not a problem, just muffles movements and the heartbeat) but everything appears to be perfect. The HR was 150 or so at our last appt, and I have only gained about 6 pounds so far and that makes me very happy.

Zoey is doing wonderfully. We are very excited (and kinda sad) that she will be one in less than 2 weeks. We are having a party at our house. I haven't had too many RSVP's yet, but I anticipate about 20 people or so, so it should be a nice size party. I haven't decided on a theme yet (I know, I know, I am behind) but I am going to go to the party store this weekend and then decide after I check out their selection.

Zoey is very busy all the time. She is always on her feet. She has taken a step or two, but is very cautious (aka- a chicken) she crawls as fast as I can run and climbs stairs, but doesn't know how to get down. She can say uh-oh, bye (sounds like die), boom and something that I recognize as "all done" but someone else might not understand! She knows the signs for all done, more, milk and we are working on cracker, eat, drink, please and thank you. She "twinkles" her hands when we sing twinkle, twinkle little star and she tries really hard on Itsy, bitsy spider! It is absolutely adorable! I am so in love with this kid. She is a snuggler, but also very independent.

Eating-she eats everything in sight. Even stuff she shouldn't. I call her my little goat because she will down anything she can shove in there! For breakfast she has a bowl of oatmeal and a bowl of yogurt mixed with fruit. It is a breakfast large enough to fill me up and she still begs for my breakfast. She likes things with alot of flavor so baby foods are out. I make most of her stuff and add alot of spices and flavor to everything to keep her interest up. She loves wheat thins and they are my saving grace for getting through a meal out with friends or my husband. She insists on having two at a time, of course, and prefers to get them out of the box herself. Funny kid. She has 7 teeth and will get the 8th one soon I am sure. She didn't have any until 8 months, and then they just came charging in!

With all that eating you would think she would be a big kid by now. No such luck. She is finally over 16 lbs and we go for her 1-year appt on the 31st so I think I am going to feed her a big breakfast before we go so she weighs more! She is short too, so it is not like she looks skinny. She has fat little cheeks and a killer smile. I don't think the dr. will be concerned about her weight because her overall "look" is healthy, know what I mean?

I have started doing contract work for a publishing house and that is going great. The pay is better and I can sit at my new computer and work while Zoey naps.

She is still an early riser (but we recently did some sleep training and now she sleeps until 6 am, as opposed to 5!) so the morning nap is crucial for us. I think she will hang on to it for quite a while if she continues to get up so early.

Jenah- I am thrilled about Lilly, I hope you are having a wonderful time with your bundle of joy. :)

Happy Birthday Malcolm and Lee! So sorry I missed them!

Weaning- I do not want to tandem nurse, so we are working on weaning. I want her to be well weaned before the baby comes so she is not interested in nursing at all and isn't jealous. She only nurses 3-4 times a day total and more often than not, it is 3. She nurses when she first wakes up, mid-afternoon and then again about 7 and goes to bed about 7:30. She doesn't nurse for very long at night or in the day, but is still pretty attached to that morning nurse. I am nervous about totally weaning because I think that is what is keeping my weight down this pregnancy. I really don't want to gain 45 pounds this time. I would like to keep it to 30... We'll see. My sister is having a wedding reception (she married in Vegas this fall) on July 19th and I know I will still be fat, but I would like to not be very fat!

Oh, I don't know if I mentioned this, but both of my sisters and I are all pregnant! My mom is totally overwhelmed, but thrilled at the same time. My oldest sister's third baby, the middle one's first and obviously my second. Very fun. The middle is due in late April, me mid-June and the oldest late July. Lots of babies in our family.

Okay, I think I caught up with me, but sorry no real SO's. It sounds like everyone is doing well. E's I am so sorry you had to spend Christmas in the hospital. That really, really sucks, but it sounds like Madi is doing much better. What an answer to prayers. :)

Happy Happy 1st Birthday to Alexander & A today :p. Belated birthday wishes to Malcolm and Lee :D.

Walking: Not there yet (thankfully)...still busy cruising and pushing the walker back and forth. He is still into everything!

Weaning/milk transitioning: I'm going to continue nursing him and probably introduce milk so we know he's okay with it when I need to be out. Then I'll look for cues that he's interested in weaning or gradually decrease to morning and night if I get to the point where I can't stand it anymore. I enjoy it most of the time but still struggle with yeast infections and such that can be painful. He has shown no interest in stopping anytime soon.

Feeding schedule: He's nursing around 6 times a day plus 3 solid meals a day. He's eating things with more texture & flavors but unfortunately has stopped eating most finger foods except O's & mum mums. He'll just throw them on the floor. We keep offering them with the hope he'll get interested again. Anyone had any tricks that worked?

Wow, bombera...all of the sisters pregnant...that is SO fun! My sister and I were pregnant together and it's been fun having someone else going through the same stuff (hers is 3 1/2 mos younger).

bombera Wow on the update- you are so busy! How did I miss that you were 18 weeks pregnant- unbelievable! Glad you are able to get some additional rest with the job change. Your little gal is so precious! M got that same wagon for X-Mas- it's a favorite.

Happy Birthday Lee and Alexander!

Traveling Malcolm had his first plane ride and it went really well! I got him his own seat (using accumulated miles) so he was able to relax in his carseat. I think this helped a great deal. I also got a gizmo that hooks onto the car seat and makes it into a stroller with a long handle- this was wonderful to zip through the airports with him.

We had his birthday party yesterday! We invited about 40 people and to our great surprise they almost all showed up! I think everyone had a great time.

Shot of my birthday guy (I actually used this on the invitations!) :)

la bride- he is SO cute! I love his birthday pic. I am glad the party went well. Z will be 1 a week from today and I am trying not to have a panic attack. Her party is on Saturday and we invited the same number of people and I am kind of hoping they don't all show! Yikes, that would be a lot of people. So far about 20 have RSVP'd, but most of our friends and family like to do things late... :)

Weaning: Yep, I'm planning on weaning at 1 year. Funny enough, I thought I'd have mixed feelings about it, but really, I think I'm ready. I love bf'ing and the closeness we have, but I am ready to have my body back. Hopefully I can drop those last 10 pounds I've been trying to loose!

Walking: Sophie isn't walking yet, although she has become quite daring and will stand on one foot (while holding onto something) and will stand alone for just a few seconds. I'm hoping she'll be walking by her b-day.

Teeth: I bet none of you will believe this, but Sophie still doesn't have ANY teeth! We call her our little toothless wonder. But in all honesty, I'd be fine if she didn't get any until I was done bf'ing. :p

PrincessCJ: Sophie also doesn't do cow's milk, and I've been wondering what we'd feed her. I can't imagine soy milk has enough nutrients. Is goats milk what your peds recommended?

Birthday Party: Invites were ordered friday, so they'll go out as soon as I get them. We're inviting somewhere along the lines of 50 people. YIKES!!!We're doing the cupcake theme and I'm attempting to make the cake. Here's the cake I'm planning to make:

ladybug: LMAO at Sohpie, screw the walking, she'll just stand on ONE foot. That's hilarious! And quite brave of her...silly girl! ;)

bombera: WOW! Thanks for checking in. You HAVE been quite busy. I can't believe you're already 18 1/2 weeks pg! That went quick! Are you finding out the sex? Glad Zoey is doing so well! :)

weaning: I'm really going to try to get him down to three sessions this week. We'll see how it goes. My supply is really going down w/ all the pumping I'm doing for our cruise though. :(

Lady Love the cake!! Its super cute. I wish I would of seen that before I did Laurens party. I went with the other cupcake pan Wilton has!

La bride Love the birthday pic! Ive been thinking about getting that same crown for Jenna in the pink. Where did you get the carseat attachment for travelling? I need something like that for when we fly.

Walking Jenna is pretty much walking although if she falls down she usually continues on crawling instead of getting back up.

Milk I think Im going to start trying with adding a little milk to her bottles next week and do it gradually. Is any of the formula mommies planning on using the next step formula? Ive been thinking about doing that too instead of going to milk so soon but I dont know. I didnt use it with Lauren so I dont know why Im thinking about it now.

Teeth Jenna has 4 teeth (two top, two bottom) but she has been drooling like crazy again so I think she is getting more.

Well, still no answer as to why stepgrandfather-in-law is bleeding internally. They haven't done a single thing other than give him blood (5 units so far) and say they are going to do x test tomorrow. It's getting very frustrating.

Thanks for the birthday wishes ladies ~ Had a good party. He had such fun digging into his smash cake but he had an allergic reaction to the cake/frosting afterwards. He even tore the paper off his gifts - well, the ones that big sister would let him open. Even with giving her a couple of presents for just her she still wanted to open his. I had a good one as well.

bombera ~ Congrats on being 18 wks already!! How neat that you and your 2 sisters are all pregnant at the same time. Cute pictures!

la_bride ~ What a cutie!

ladybug ~ Love the cake! It took DS 10.5 months to even get one. I've heard the longer they take to come in the stronger they are.

Aug2002 ~ We used the transition formula with DD until she was around 18 months. I'd planned to use it for DS but since we aren't on soy anymore and there isn't one for the hypoallergenic we will discuss it with his doc when we go for his one year visit.

Happy Birthday Lee, Alexander and A!!!!!

Michelle, good to hear from you and good to hear the pg is going well. One of my friends was pg at the same time as both her sisters. They have a really cute pic of all three of them "showing off" their bellies together.

la, glad to hear the party went well. Malcolm is a cutie!

usafwife, hope things get figured out with DH's step grandfather. And sorry to hear A had an allergic reaction. Do you know what it was too?

ladybug, that cake is adorable! And how cute that Sophie is standing on one leg.

rancherswife, good luck with the weaning/pumping. And have a blast on the cruise!!

Aug2002, where are you heading to? I believe the car seat attachment is the go go kidz. I've looked at getting one as well.

So, I had a friend of mine make an invite for Paty's party. I thought it turned out really well. Now I just need to get all the details figured out.

Still have to go and get balloons and a Banner.... I will be working on a month banner tomorrow during the day and tomorrow night, her cake.

I did do a trial run on the cake the other night, and if I don't say so myself I did a pretty good job for the first cake ever.. lol The pink is a little TOO pink should be lighter and there needs to be little white dots in the flowers and I forgot a window.. lol... but all in all very time consuming, but I think it was well worth it. I also made Homemade Buttercream frosting. lol i'm so proud of myself. :)

Walking - Hailey just started a couple of days ago. I was sitting at my computer while she was playing and out of no where she took off and screeched the whole way.

Weaning - I want to introduce milk in a couple of months but probably won't wean for a while.

Teeth - 4; two top and two bottom

Jen - OMG, the cake looks awesome for your first try!! I can't wait to see how the "real" one turns out!

We're on "vacation" right now in MN, or the frozen tundra as DH calls it, for BIL's wedding. This was H's first flight and omg it was a breeze! We were the last to board and she fell asleep nursing on take off. So she slept for most the flight then woke up happy and nursed again for landing. Everyone seated around us commented how quiet she was so that was a nice relief. Now I'm just crossing my fingers the flight home goes just as smoothly!!

e'sprincess: Looks like it will be a great party! Lots of cute stuff. And GREAT job on the cake.

dpangel: So glad the flight went well for Hailey, esp. since she just started walking, I'm glad she wasn't wanting to get down off your lap and go... ;) Have fun at the wedding!

I think I need to stalk this thread similar to how I was a year ago :)

Jen, love all the princess stuff you have picked out. And that cake is awesome. I'm impressed! Hope the party goes well.

dp, glad the flight went well but I would not want to be in MN this time of year. Brrrrr. Go Hailey on the walking.

rancherswife, thanks. I can't wait to see how your come out. I love the work Amber does as well.

Happy Birthday to everyone I have missed. I hope all the birthday celebrations are going well.

DS is starting to take a few steps here and there. I figure by the time his birthday rolls around he'll probably be walking.

I can't believe we already have 2 RO's. You mom's are super brave. I can barely handle one baby ; )

Happy Birthday to all the little one's I have missed. I am looking forward to seeing pictures.

I just have to say how much I love this age. Cole is so precious and I just love his little personality. He talks all the time and laughs at everything!! He is truly the most amazing little person. I am so sad it's all going by too quickly.

Happy Birthdays to those I've missed.

We've had quite a week. A frustrating GI appt for DS (didn't learn anything that we didn't already know so it was a wasted trip) and then we get rear-ended after the appt. The idiot who hit us took off after the accident without giving us any information. Thankfully we did get his tag number. No major injuries except for whiplash. I'm having to go for therapy because of it. Our vehicle had mostly mechanical damage and a little physical damage.

Jenah ~ I'll make the changes. Sorry for the mistake.

Kat ~ Congrats!

dpangel ~ Yay on the walking. Glad it's you in MN now and not me. We've had a few days of very cold temps with windchills near/below zero and that's been enough for me. We're suppose to get dumped with snow tonight and tomorrow.

Kat - Congratulations!!!

Well we're back from MN and boy am I glad to be back in TX, it's much warmer here!!
Unfortunately our flight home was an absolute disaster. We were scheduled to leave at 7:30 but didn't begin boarding until after 9pm. So you can only imagine how a tired, cranky baby was on a very turbulent flight, so not fun. Now if we can just get back to our old sleep pattern we'll be great!!

Are most of you still rocking your DC's when you nurse or give the night bottle? I still rock Cole when I give him his evening bottle and I'm not ready to stop, but I don't want him to not be able to sleep without being rocked when he's older. I don't know if I'm making sense, but hopefully I am ; )

I still rock Madi to sleep most nights, but she really won't go to sleep if I don't. At this time, she is still in our room, and she's a very light sleeper. Some nights I can get her to sleep without rocking but there's not to many.
