Oh Michelle, I'm so sorry about all that you have gone through and my thoughts are with you and Zoey! I'm so glad that you were vigilant and persistent with getting the doctor's diagnosis. It sounds like you were very strong and keeping up with your milk supply I'm sure will help her with getting strong & putting those antibodies to work. I have to say my mom gave a teeny tiny bit of honey to Samuel a few weeks ago the first time we left him and we both about croaked when she told us that. He had been crying and resisting sleep the whole time and she was desperate and proud that it worked. So at least I know to be on the lookout for all of the signs you mention. Take care of yourself!

Michelle- OMG, I can't believe this has happened, but I am so relieved to hear you are both doing well. I hope you still have my number, please please call me if you need anything at all. I am more than happy to help in anyway I can. PLease give Zoey hugs and kisses (as I know you already are) and know that your family is in my prayers. My quote for the day seems most appropriate here "If God brings you to it he will see you through it"

Michelle - OMG, what a living hell you have been though!! I'm so glad you and Zoey are home and she is recovering. I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers.

Michelle - Holey Moley! How absolutely scary. I thank God every day for good doctor's and medicine. I pray that Zoey keeps getting stronger and is back on track very soon.

Quick update on my niece - she had the breathing tube finally removed the early part of the week and is almost entirely weaned off of all the meds. They are having to keep it a low stimulation environment because she is starting to feel everything and she's easily aggravated. Today she is back in surgery to put in a shunt and a port. Chemo started earlier this week as well. She should be out of surgery in an hour or so and they are hoping to have her awake and the breathing tube out by early afternoon. They have also started physical therapy and she's already decided she's not liking it. Her parent's are ecstatic because she is starting to pucker up to return kisses. She's definitely on the upswing and I thank you for your prayers and thoughts for her.

OK, I think my son is hording food for a significant growth spurt. I'm at a loss for words at what this kid eats sometimes. He is now getting solids 2-3 times a day and seems to still take the same amount of formula. Granted, I could probably increase the amount of each meal, but I'm not ready for that just yet. And heaven forbid one of us are holding him while we are eating. Ben gets VERY angry because we are bypassing his open mouth!!!

Otherwise, all is well here. I'm almost over this mutant cold (again) that I've had the better part of 10 days. Honestly. If I get another cold I'm going to have my house fumigated. I never get sick and this is the second one I've had in 4 weeks.

Michelle: OMG.....I was reading this with my mouth wide open and chills. I feel terrible that you've and your family have had to go through such a scary experience with your baby. I am, however, soooooo happy to read that she is recovering now. I will pray for her and keep all of you in my thoughts. Please keep us updated, as you can and give Zoey bigs hugs and kisses from us!!!

michelle: I was so glad to read she is recovering. I hope you've gotten a smile from her again. I'll keep her in my thoughts for a full recovery.

And like boilermaker I'm off to go scrub my floors, too.

Michelle~ I am so sorry that you and your husband and Zoey had to go through all of that. I am glad to hear that she is on the mend now. Speaking from past experience there is nothing worse than being in the ICU with your precious baby. So scary. Praying for you and your family and hope all will continue to get better.

We are out the door for Daphne's 6 month check up today. Hope all is well.

Scrubbing floors! Hee hee! Isn't this fun. My Mom said she used to have to scrub the floors once a day. Oh boy! It is a hard habit to get used to.

Rancher's- Please don't go crazy over this. Really, it is so rare and although we have no idea how this happened, you can breathe a sigh of relief because since there are only about 100 cases in the US per year, since you "know" Zoey, there is no way that it would happen to two of the Feb babies right? That is just too much of a coincidence so I have been telling all my friends that they are in the clear!

Seriously, in all the literature we have read, even from the lab in CA that produces the anti-toxin, the only prevention is to not feed your baby honey (not to scare you Aloha, I am sure samuel will be fine!) and aside from that, there is no way to prevent it. So don't go beating yourself up about dirt and such. Just relax and now that you know the symptoms (lathargy, constipation, unable to eat, drooping eyes, loss of head control, weak cry, etc...) if it were to happen to Reece or any of our babies, you can get in right away and they will make a full recovery!

We have asked ourselves countless times if there was something we could have done and really, there isn't. When we asked ourselves, "why us?" I decided to answer my own question with "why not us?" Really, we have an amazing support group of friends and family, insurance to pay for all her care and we live in Dallas with a major children's specialty center who diagnosed the botulism quickly. So, why not us? Better to us than someone who doesn't have the support and resources that we have or someone that doesn't have access to the kind of care that we had at the beginning and would have had to go on a vent or something else. We are just feeling blessed for her fast recovery and that we were able to care for her in the ways that she needed it most. It makes me feel better to think of it that way, however crazy that may sound.

Thank you all for your well wishes, prayers and support. :) And Elenna, she is smiling all over the place these days and I appreciate every last grin!

Mrs. Ski- I am glad to hear that your niece is making good progress. We will continue to pray for her and for her healing.

Love on those babies, they are too precious for words and I too really need to clean my kitchen floor... :)

Hello all! Happy Saturday!

Michelle~ Again, I am so glad to hear that you and Zoey and everyone are doing better. What a scary thing. I am still thinking of you often. I asked my ped about it yesterday because it kinda freaked me out. But she said also that it is very rare. I had never even heard anything like that until reading what happened to Zoey. What a trooper!

Daphne's 6 Month Update
15 LBS 6 OZ
26 inches
Everything else looks great! The bump on her head caused be the vacumn is almost gone.
Next Appointment is in November.

I am off to do my Saturday cleaning. I also need to get Daphne's wardrobe organized for the next few months.

Another milestone! She has started reaching out for Mama to pick her up. Her auntie is the other lucky one that she will do that too. It is so cute!

bombera: Thanks!!! I am a total train wreck when it comes to worrying about stuff, really...it drives Brett and the rest of my family crazy. Give me one little thing to worry about and I'm all over it. Too bad I didn't read your post before we left for our friends cabin this weekend, I was insane cleaning every little thing that Reece and Landon touched, dirt was being tracked into the cabin...etc. It was lovely. You're so sweet for going into such detail for me. ;) Thank you. It's just my nature to worry. You have such a great outlook on everything you guys have been through. Give Zoey a big hug for me!!! So glad to hear she's recovering so quickly.

Wow! It has been forever since I have made it in here. I get no updates lately (I miss other e-mails as well).

I think we just got through with the mother of all growth spurts, and he is up to 23 pounds according to our scale.

bombera I am so happy it turned out okay!

Kat ~ He's gotten so big! My little one loves to chew on his feet/toes as well. Cute pics.

lindz ~ How cute on the reaching out.

bombera ~ OMG! How scary!! I'm so glad that she's doing so good now. I hope she doesn't have any residual effects from the illness.

Mrs.Ski ~ I'm glad to hear that your niece is getting better.

I don't have the time to go back and catch up on everything. I'll try to be here a little more often.

Crawling ~ DS has been army crawling for over a week now. He's definitely getting faster. He went from the living room to the kitchen this past weekend and from the living room to the bathroom today.

Teething ~ No teeth yet but he's chewing on everything. I was sort of expecting him to get one around 6 months (that's when DD got her first) but no signs of any yet.

Sitting up ~ He's been sitting up unassisted for over a month now.

solids ~ He loves baby food. I've never had one that loved it before. It was a struggle to get DD to eat it. only thing she really ate was the fruits. And even then it was just applesauce. Now he isn't fond of the cereal at all.

I guess all our little ones are in the eat your toes stage :)

Meri, I'm glad to hear Alex is doing well. I'm impressed he is army crawling!

Question for you all in regards to food. I tried rice cereal with her 2 weeks ago. She took it fine but threw it all up an hour later. Is that common or a problem? I figure I'm going to try it again this weekend and see how she does. I also bought some oatmeal and fruits and veggies to try so if she doesn't do well with the cereal, I'll just skip it.

Elenna

[b]boilermaker[b]: What brand cereal are you feeding your DD? DS threw up the Gerber rice cereals. My only guess was the soy in the Gerber cereal. I now give him Earth's Best organic rice and oatmeal cereals. He doesn't react to them.

boilermaker
08-15-2007, 08:36 AM
Elenna, it is Gerber. Where do you get the Earth's Best stuff at? I'll have to look out for it. It does make sense because I had to eliminate dairy from my diet and haven't been able to add it back in. I don't generally eat any soy, so I never went through that but I think the 2 go hand in hand. Thanks!!!

Elenna
08-15-2007, 08:59 AM
boilermaker: I buy the Earth's best cereals at Wild Oats. I think I've seen it elsewhere, too (like TRU), but I can't exactly remember. You might be able to find it at Whole Foods or a Trader Joes. I had to cut dairy out of my diet and haven't been able to add it back, too.

Unfortunately, I don't live by any of the good food chains but we do have an organic market close by. I'll check there and TRU. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Isn't it funny how coincedences work. I jist got back from lunch with a friend and she had some of the Earth's Best cereal...got at the organic market I was going to try. Thanks again Elenna.

Carrie ~ Thanks. He's been wanting to get mobile for a while. He'd really like to start walking if he could. I think having DD around has helped get him more mobile a lot faster. I hope the new cereal works. DD never did like the rice cereal but she loved the oatmeal. I would use applesauce to mix with it.

Princess ~ I forgot to ask about where you found the rodeo outfit? It absolutely adorable and I'd love to get one for A. It fits so well with us since we have horses.

We have a tooth!!! It broke through Sunday or before can't tell because she wasn't fussy at all. I didn't know until she started chewing on my finger on Sunday. It had been a few days since I had checked. Sunday night was rough but she has calmed down except for the banana nightmare. Apparently they mess her little digestive system up too bad. We will pass on the bananas for now.

I love Earth's Best baby food. So far WalMart has the best price. I hate the crowds in that store so I buy as much as I can just to avoid going back.
We are broadening our palette as far as the baby food goes. I still can't believe that my ped said that I could feed her cheerios if I want. Makes my baby seem so grown up all of the sudden. Anybody making their baby food?

I am loving the pictures everyone! Isn't this such a fun stage. Seems like everyday she hits another milestone. Crazy crazy.

Elenna

cereal: DS didn't mind the rice cereal, but he loves the oatmeal. I think because the oatmeal is sweeter (it was to me when I tasted it).

linzgirl: I also stock up on the Earth's best baby foods when I shop, because the Wild Oats (the place I get the food) in my area is a pain in the arse to get to (in a very busy, constantly congested area). I haven't checked Walmart for it, I'm going to have to do that. I make DS's baby food. I only buy jarred for introducing a food and for carrots.

ladybug777
08-16-2007, 10:09 AM
Lindzgirl: I've been making my own food. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be. I do buy her cereal though (Earth's Best).

Cereal: We tried the rice cereal, but it constipated DD, so we've moved on to otameal, which she loves! We've also introduced sweet potatoes (big hit) and will introduce squash next week.

QOTD: Feeding schedule: How often are you guys giving your babies solids? I usually give Sophie her veggie or cereal (I alternate) in the late afternoon. I'm wondering if I should start giving her something in the morning too. Also, I usually fed her in between bf'ing. At what point shouldher solid meal replace a nursing session?

PrincessCJ81
08-16-2007, 10:38 AM
QOTD: I give DS a cereal/veggie combo at 9:30am and 6pm. He won't eat the cereal by itself so I mix it in with the veggies and he loves it. We also use the Earth's Best cereal.

njnewyearsbride

QOTD - DS eats cereal and fruit around lunch time and then a fruit and a veggie for dinner around 5pm

Elenna
08-16-2007, 11:33 AM
QOTD: DS eats cereal and a fruit or veggie for breakfast and a mixed fruit/veggie for dinner. Though, I've been thinking of adding cereal as a part of dinner, too. I think the solids are not supposed to replace a breastmilk/formula feeding for quite a while. I want to say you can do that after 1 year old. I'll have to go back and re-read my books about feeding.

PrincessCJ81
08-16-2007, 01:21 PM
I should mention that DS eats his solids plus about 30-32oz of breastmilk a day!!!! He really loves to eat!

I almost forgot: I had a dream that I was pregnant last night = O

boilermaker
08-16-2007, 02:03 PM
Well, other than that one time, I haven't introducted solids yet and I'm in no hurry to do so. It is just so easy to BF her and no mess :) I'm going to have to face the fact one of these days that she is growing up.

ladybug777
08-16-2007, 04:04 PM
So w/ the solids, are you guys offering the breast/bottle when your baby is hungry and then offering the solids sometime in between feeds? I guess I'm just wondering if I'll be setting up bad habits for Sophie. Eating when she's not really hungry.

lindzgirl
08-16-2007, 07:24 PM
I usually feed her solids first and then I nurse her. I started with the snacks because of taking her to the office she gets too fussy and she gets up earlier now. When she was sleeping until 8 or 9 in the morning I was feeding solids and nursing at the same time every 4 hours. My pediatrician said I was doing everything right. I guess so. The solids were a harder one to learn than breast feeding. I don't know why. The book I read said every four hours four times a day. I alter it depending on the day we have. It will go back to the 4x4 here in a few weeks. I will get to set my own hours at the office. Yay!!!

Wake up 6:00 cereal w/fruit and nurse
Snack 10:00 Bottle or nurse
Lunch 12:00 Vegetables
Snack 2:30 nurse
Dinner 5:30 Cereal w/ fruit or vegetable
Nurse 7:30
Bedtime

We just started solids this past weekend and so I am feeding her cereal once a day, in the evening. I have heard that bm is usually less abundant in the evenings so they are probably hungrier. It seems to be working. She has finished her cereal the past two nights, although I am not not trying to feed her too much. I did give her green beans tonight for the first time. She ate several bites, but then started refusing and I think she was just full after eating all her cereal too. It was fun!

I will probably start giving her solids two times a day in a week or two.

We are using the Earth's Best cereal as well and I will make most of my own foods too. I did ask about carrots because I have heard you shouldn't make your own, but the nutritionist in my mommy and me group this week said that it didn't matter. You could buy them or make them. Either way was fine and she said that either one may or may not have nitrites in them. Who knows? What have you all heard about carrots?

The green beans I gave her tonight were from a jar because we happened to have some left over from when my sister was here (I checked the date, they were still good!) but I like someone's idea about buying a jar of a new food, then making it if they like it, or I assume that is the idea...

We started with cereal earlier this week. I did it in the evening. First, I nursed him and then maybe 45 minutes later, he got the cereal. The first night he had the cereal, he did spit it up about 30 minutes after eating but hasn't since. We will keep this routine (evening...first nurse, then solids) for probably a month. Then I'll move on to adding another meal in the morning. After a month of that, I move to 3X a day.

Hi ladies-

6 mth WBV stats:

19.6 lbs
26.5 in long
17.5 head circumference

My ped said that letting DS have solids 3 times a day was fine. Right now, during the week, DS gets solids twice a day for sure, on the weekends, once a day and that's at dinner time. DS still takes as much formula, so right now, I'm not concerned about solids replacing that.

DS has been getting the rice cereal, but usually just straight baby food. He's not to keen on the cereal. So far, DS has had green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, mixed veggies, carrots, bananas, applesauce and apple-strawberry-banana sauce (which made him break out in a rash). He's not fussy about any type of food. Just keeps opening his mouth for more.

DS still hasn't cut any teeth. He's working it tho. DD didn't cut any until she was almost 14 months old, so I'm not worried. He's on the go constantly and loves being on the floor with Blue Dog and his rag. He's got the peek-a-boo thing down pretty good and it's sweet to watch.

Have a great weekend ladies!!!

bombera: My Super Baby Foods book says it is ok to start feeding your DC homemade carrots sometime after 7 months. It is because your DC is less susceptable to the nitrate anemia after that age. I'm going to start making my own carrots now that DS is 7 months. I really enjoy making his foods. The only downside is defrosting his food cubes (it just seems to take forever since I don't microwave them).

Waving hi to all! M has his 7 month visit on Monday so I'll update stats then.

Good news- his eyes are fine! He has pseudo-strabismus, which only turns into an issue 5% of the time. Big relief there! We finally got his DOC band made (they kept cancelling the appointment), but the provider died and they are closing the clinic. We'll have to go to the only other clinic in the state twice a month for the next 4 months, which is a 6 hour round trip (not including appointment time). What can you do? I'm determined that he will not have a severely deformed head! He can thank me later ; )

Physical therapy for the torticollis is going really well- my little guy is catching up! He rolled over for the first time last weekend in PT and we all cheered. He's starting to roll more, but doesn't seem to like it much. He's started grabbing his feet, and is adept at getting ojects into his mouth.

solids I reluctantly started last month- I wanted to wait longer but he kept grabbing for things! I use the Earth's Best and a frozen organic one available at Whole Foods. He wasn't a fan of the cereal for a while but is getting more interested. I try a new food every 5 days to watch for allergies- so far he's had pears, apples, sweet potatoes and bananas. I tried carrots on Wednesday but he got a rash :(

PSA-Oh, last thing, unfortunately our house got robbed! LOL I can't seem to get ahead can I? I'm really trying not to be a downer! Anyway, I wanted to encourage all of you to use online photo storage like Snapfish, Photobucket, Flikr, etc. They stole all of our electronics (except the T.V.) and even all the CD's we had saved photos on! Luckily the truly precious ones, like of M's birth, etc. I had online so they are not lost.

sleep issues: We are having some SERIOUS sleep issues in this house. Reece went from sleeping (almost) through the night with an occassional waking once or twice a night, but nothing big...he'd nurse and go right back to sleep, some nights he'd even sttn. Then...about a month ago, he started waking SEVERAL times a night and I'll stick him on the boob, he'll go right back to sleep after nursing for a while, I'll put him back in his co-sleeper and about five mins. later, right as I'm about to doze again, he starts fussing...wtf??? Landon did the SAME thing, I know a lot of it has to do w/ teething and a 6 mo. growth spurt, but seriously, I need sleep too!!! :(

QOTD - Are you dressing up DC for Halloween??

Since stores are stocking up on costumes already it's got me thinking... I wasn't particularly planning on getting H a costume since we won't be ToT'ing, but my mom is adamant we dress her up. If I can't get away with it I may just go with a cute onesie from ON to pacify the grandparents!!

Hey Ladies

I havent been in here in forever also but wanted to give an update. It was fun to read everyone else's!

Jenna goes for her 6 month check up next week so its a little past since she turned 6 months last weekend. She is still a tiny thing though so Im sure she isnt anymore than 13 or 14lbs at the very most. Her 6-9 months are starting to be short though so shes probably going to follow in her sister's footsteps and be very skinny and on the taller side. Lauren still only weighs like 25 lbs at almost 3 years old!

Anyways Jenna has really been itching to crawl lately and will get up on her hands and knees and does the rocking back and forth. She has yet to take off though and as far as Mommy is concerned we can hold off on that for a little bit! She doesnt sit up unassisted that well though...only for a few seconds and she takes a carpet dive! She is getting solids 3 times a day on most days and NOT sleeping through the night whatsoever! I usually give her cereal and fruit in the morning and evening and a jar of veggies in the afternoon around lunch time. Ive made a bunch of her food, but still buy a few of the combination fruit ones and stuff. She loves the Mixed Cereal or the Oatmeal much much better than Rice cereal. Shes really loving the Jumperoo these days as well.
Here are a few recent pics...
This one she was on hands and knees and lifted up that one side as if to go forward, but didnt... (excuse DH's feet!)

What cuties!

Labride: That's awful about your house! At least you have good news on the eyes and PT progress :).

Mommy ID's I rarely look at these so whatever is easiest.

QOTD - Are you dressing up DC for Halloween??
We'll probably dress him up for fun, but nothing too serious. My mom is making a chili pepper outfit for my nephew (for another occasion) so we may use that outfit.
----------------------------
We've had a whirlwind of a week. We had to leave town last minute to get to DH's grandfather's funeral. It was our first plane flight and with only 1 day notice I'd say we did pretty good. Then DH got the flu on the last night away and was quite sick the rest of the week. I got a minor cold, but luckily escaped the flu. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule Samuel's 6 month appt to 7 months since the Dr is out of town.

Samuel is so on the move belly scooting these days and getting quicker all the time. He's never been one to stay still so he's not much into sitting although he's getting stronger at it. I put him in the rocking chair today and couldn't believe how long he stayed in place. We just started solids at 6 mos (last week). His first food is avocado and he seems to love it. We're giving it to him in the self-feeder once a day at this point. I think we will try peaches next since they are in season. We're taking it slowly and planning to try a new food every 5 days.

qotd: Yes, Reece will be dressed up. We don't take Landon full-on trick or treating, just to our families houses, and mainly for pics., so Reece will be joining in the festivities as well. Not sure what he's gonna be yet though...still trying to decide. :) Landon was a billy goat ( Tom Arma) and Reece would fit into it perfectly, so I may do that, it was adorable!

LA Bride, sorry to hear about the theft. I do agree that uploading photos to a storage site is well worth the money (I pay for the flickr account). I've had more than one friend lose their pics when their hard drive went south. Glad to hear Malcolm is doing well..such a cutie :)

rancherswife, hugs to you on the sleep issue. I'm right there with you. Paty has never slept through the night and I never know if I am going to get 1 waking or 7. Last night was only one, so I'm in a good mood today. I hope it gets better for you soon.

dp, I think we are going to dress P up as a few friends have invited us over for trick or treating parties. But I am a firm believer that the best costumes are homemade ones and I'm excited to see what I can create (of course, my opinion may change on Oct 29th when i still haven't come up with anything good and realize that my ideas are way better than anything I create). I do have a cute halloween sleeper and bib, so I imagine we'll use those as well.

Aug2002, good to hear from you. Jenna is adorable..love the blue eyes. Isn't it funny how kids develop differently? Paty sits up like a champ but can't do anything resembling a crawling formation at all.

aloha, sorry to hear about your DH's grandfather and the flu and colds. But yeah for having a good flight. the last thing you would have needed at that point was a bad flight to make you feel guilty.

And another big thanks to Elenna. I picked up some of the Earht's Best last night (they actually carry it at my regular grocery store) and she took it like a champ. And kept it down. And slept from 8-4 am, so maybe it helps (I can wish right?).

I took her to the dr yesterday to get her ears checked. She's been pulling at the one for a few days and I wanted to be sure it wasn't an ear infection, though she has no other signs of one. The good news was no infection, so I guess it is just a little habit she has. But they weighed her and she is 18lbs, 13 oz. We have her 6 month WBV on Sept 7, so I'm guessing she will be 19 lbs by then. I have quite a chunky monkey on my hands :)

And the best news I have is starting Sept 1, I get to work part time!!!! I am so excited. I'll be working Tues, Wed and half day Thurs. So for all you SAHM, what fun things do you do with your little ones during the day?

boiler- DS pulls on his ears as well and his ped told me its really common when kids are teething. His ped told me that she believes it helps reduce the pressure on the gum. How exciting that you are going PT!!!! That is awesome. Glad the new food is working!

boilermaker: You're welcome.:o I'm glad changing her cereal worked. I sure wish I could get that cereal at my local store.

LA bride: Sorry about the theft. Thanks for the advice about backing up photos. I keep all my photos and videos of DS backed up onto my thumb drive which I keep in my purse (mainly to have on hand to show the ILs photos of DS and print any up at photo kiosks if the whim takes me).

SAHM activities: I do a bunch with DS at home. We read books, play on the floor, play with the cats (DS adores our cats and they're starting to tolerate him), practice standing (he loves to stand), play games like peekaboo and pattycake, and stuff like that. We also sometimes go to the mall and baby watch.:p

pulling ears: DS has been pulling his ears off and on for a couple of weeks now. He has no other signs of infection so I just assumed it was from teething (I'd read they might pull their ears while teething).

halloween: We're dressing DS up for Halloween. We're thinking of getting him the dinosaur outfit at BRU. The church up the street does a safe trick or treat thing for Halloween and all the families in the neighborhood go there. DS loves interacting with other people so we're taking him and hope he has fun.

teething: I think DS is getting two more teeth, but they're not in order. He got his center bottom two teeth a couple of weeks ago. I thought the top teeth were supposed to come in next, but I'm seeing buds on either side of the bottom teeth. No sign of top teeth, yet.

I wouldn't believe him either. DS's dr said the same thing at his 6mo WBV and two days later his first tooth broke the surface. There was no sign of it at the 6mo WBV.

boilermaker Thanks! Glad you found the right cereal. My regular grocery store carries that brand too. I know what you mean about the night times...sometimes we get to sleep with only 1 waking and sometimes we have as many as 5 wakings in the night.

Halloween We most likely will dress Jenna up in something. I might pull out Laurens old pumpkin and see if that fits her. I havent thought much about it yet though.

SAHM Well I have an almost 3 year old to entertain as well so we go out to a lot of various activities going on that Jenna also gets hauled along too! But she loves being in her stroller so we take a lot of walks through our neighborhood and then Lauren can run around too. We play outside a good bit since getting lauren a playset..usually I bring the exersaucer or something out and she loves to be in that outside. Inside its pretty much just floor time, reading, watching baby einstein movies, Lauren plays with her a lot etc

Halloween I posted on the CC Halloween costume thread- I got M a cute goldfish costume on clearance from Babystyle. I love Halloween! I also got him some knit pants and onesies from ON.

Stats Update
7 months
Weight: 18 pounds 11 ounces (50%)
Heigh: 27 inches (50%)

He didn't grow very much but the ped wasn't worried so I won't either! He still fits in many 3-6 month clothes- go figure. I'm happy to get more use out of them. Of course everyone tells me how HUGE he is, but when I was in my Mommy and Me class of all Jan/Feb babies, he's by far not the largest.

No teeth yet! He's still working on rolling, etc.

njnewyearbride - Heck, 23 pounds is still a big boy! I think you win hands down the tallest, biggest baby in our thread! :)

PrincessCJ - Have a fun time in Hawaii! So jealous.

DS is doing well. He is doing better at trying to sit but still not sitting unassisted. Naptimes have been horrible lately. He refuses to sleep more than 20 minutes during the day. Uh, kid, that isn't a nap. Solids are going really well. He screams until he sees the spoon and then leaned forward with his mouth open waiting for it.

Wow! 23 and 25 lbs? We have some seriously big babies around here. I love it! Unfortunately Zoey isn't one of them. Here are her 6 mo. Well Baby Stats (but they were taken at almost 7 mo. so that makes them even sadder...)

H- 25.5" (10%)
W- 14.9 lbs (10%)
HC- 43.5 cm (75%)

So my baby is tiny with a big head... Oh well. I think she looks great. Since her height and weight are both 10% she looks proportioned, but just small. I knew her weight would be low, but her height went from 75% to 10%. We are a bit concerned about that, but other than that she is great. Completely recovered and really taking to solids. I feed her once a day and she eats about 2 oz of whatever I feed her. Today it was carrots. She seemed to enjoy them.

She also made the baby sign for milk this weekend. I was so excited. Of course she was just immitating me and had no idea what she was doing or what it meant, but I have been making the sign to her before she eats for nearly two months now on and off and I was so excited that she actually did it. So, now we just have to get her to understand what it is for. I know she is young for that, but it's a lot of fun!

I am glad to hear that all our babies are doing well!

Wow, 23 pounds is huge!! Glad to see there's a range.

Princess Can't wait to hear how Hawaii goes! We are hoping to go in January for M's b-day.

Me: got the Doc band painted! We hired an artist- she did an awesome job! Makes me feel better about the whole thing. I got a small stash of cloth diapers and we are going to try that on the weekends and evenings. I hear if you use CD's you can potty train up to a year earlier! We'll see how it goes.

We're going slowly on the food. We've just upped his meals from one to two a day, and he gets cereal (rice or oatmeal) and a fruit or peas.

He's still not crawling or attempting to crawl. He can sit if I stick him there, but he doesn't do it on his own. He has become quite the pickpocket, and figured out how to get his diaper off. I was in for a shock when I came to pick him up out of the crib and he was waving the diaper around and laughing!

Bombera LOL on PT at 3 years old- my guy is so mellow, I wouldn't be surprised if it took him a long time! I also wanted to CD because I feel guilty over how many diapers he goes through in a day. Lots of cuteness in here.

LA Bride, I love Malcolm's helmet. So cute and original. Definitley a peice of art now. Good luck with the cloth diapering. I've been thinking about trying these flushable insert things they sell at our organic market...I too feel guilty about all the diapers P is using up.

NJ, North is sooo happy in those pics. Love it. He and your DD look a lot alike. I'm glad I am not the only one with a rolley polley baby.

Things are going well here. P turned 6 months old this weekend. Hard to believe how fast they grow isn't it? She has her WBV on Friday. Can't wait to see how much she weighs. I'm guessing somewhere around 19 lbs. She is not however taking to solids. Doesn't seem very interested at all. I'm going to try to feed her while I am eating and see if that helps as she seems to what my food quite a bit. Maybe we'll just skip the baby food and go right to regular food...jk, at least for now :)

Are any of you taking advantage of that infant see program? I was going to ask my ped about it at her WBV.

Morning ladies!!

Cole had his shots yesterday and is running a fever, so we are at home today. Today was supposed to be my only full day of work b/f Hawaii, but oh well!!! He feels fine he is just running a mild fever and I don't feel comfortable with anyone else watching him.

He is just under 19 lbs(60%) and he's 28 1/4 inches(85%). I think he's pretty average for his age.

He loved the doctor, he talked to her the whole time and kept giggling when she would talk to him. She had colorful things wrapped around her stethescope (sp?) and he was just having a blast trying to remove them. He tore up the table paper and I was so embarrased, but she said that she loves to see messed up paper b/c it's a sign that the baby is developing well. She makes me feel good about all of the things I usually am embarassed by, need I say I love his ped!

Labride- I love M's helment! VG is one of my favorite artist & your artist did a great rendition.

Boiler- Glad to hear P is doing well! I can't believe how fast 6 months has gone.

NJN- Cute pics! Both your children are too cute!! I have been a bad mommy and haven't scheduled pictures.

njnewyears: Precious pics.! North is one big boy, I love the one with both him and Hazel. Beautiful babies you have! :)

princesscj: OMG, sooo close to leaving for Hawaii. I am so jealous. We love Hawaii. We're thinking of going early next year. We love Maui and the Big Island. Where are you guys going? Have you ever been?

no interest in baby food: Reece could really take it or leave it. Seriously. I have friends w/ babies the same age as him and I watch them get so excited when they see the damn cereal box come out and that is so far from how Reece is about it. It's more of a pain in the butt than anything, he maybe gets three or four spoon fulls in, and that's a streatch. I'm bad too...I don't always give it to him every night. But serioulsy, he hardly takes any of it when I do give it to him. I'm glad to know he's not the only one totally not interested in it. :)

Hey moms-

Cutie babies!!! Love all the photos.

M's helmet is gorgeous. And very clever. I just want to squeeze his cheeks!!

solids Um, OK, whoever can't be bothered, send that food on over here. Ben eats 2 stage 2 containers 3 times a day with a 6 oz. bottle between in between. The bedtime bottle after dinner is 8oz, which he sometimes doesn't take the entire thing.

clothes Anyone else's DC growing out of everything? Ben is in 12mth clothes in just about everything. I bought a cute cool weather outfit in 6-9 mths. I washed it and he wore it once. And when he did wear it, his ankles and wrists were hanging out. 9 month jeans aren't even an option. They were so tight I couldn't get his chunky thighs in them. And since it appears that the midwest weather is starting to cool, I'm starting to sweat a bit. Guess I'll be doing some 'light' shopping....gotta love outlet stores!!

Hope everyone is doing well. It's super crazy around here.

Baby Food- Zoey really loves the food that I give her, but I don't give her very much. She is a sweet potato monster, but she hasn't refused anything yet. I am glad for that. I only feed her once a day and I give her about 2-3 ounces at that feeding. I haven't done cereal in a while because it seriously constipated her, but she liked that too. Our Ped didn't want me replacing her nursings with food and told me to just feed her once a day until she is nine months. I am sure every ped is different. I am fine with once a day because I am lazy... :) After nine months then we will probably increase to twice a day and start giving her stuff to grab like cheerios. At first I thought that seemed slow, but then I decided that I really like her nursing as much as possible right now. AF came back when I was pumping and in the hospital, but she hasn't returned, so maybe the nursing has put her at bay again. I would love to keep that up as long as possible. I don't know why a period seems like such a hassle these days, but it just does! Silly huh?

I too am slacking on Z's pics. I missed 6 mo. because she was sick and so I am going to do 7 mo. but if I don't do them tomorrow I am going to run out of time!

We are heading to Galveston for Mon-Fri with my in-laws. DH is staying home because he has to work, but Z and I are going with them. It should be fun, but I have to put up with DH's grandma for five days. I might lose my mind...

Have a great weekend everybody.

Wow-we have some serious eaters! Samuel is eating one solid meal a day and once in a while a 2nd small one while we're eating dinner. He likes it, but we've been working on constipation issues which means some days he likes it more than others. We're currently doing a bit of prunes at each meal and that's working pretty well. We're considering a bit apple juice in his water although I hate to introduce water.

Opposite of some you--he has a few 0-3 outfits/onesies he still fits in, but mostly he's in 3-6 and gradually moving towards 6-9.

It's been crazy having him on the move everywhere. We just childproofed the kitchen sink cabinet...just in time as he discovered it soon after. Of course he loves all the gross things like the trash can pedal. Those of you who have babies who like to sit and play--please appreciate it for us :). Samuel hates to sit and straightens his body like a board when you try to get him to do it. However, he loves to stand and can stand with only a bit of support...eek.

Labride: That's such a cool helmet design. My 2nd cousin had a DOC band and my cousin's biggest annoyance was all the comments about it from the public, but parents were always asking where they could get one (to protect from falls).

Bombera & Princess: Enjoy your travels. I'm sad to be leaving to work a conference without the little one :(. I've been pumping like crazy so he can at least get some BM each day.

Same here! All these chubsters remind me of E at this age. But John, well, he's still a skinny boy. I think we're close to hitting 14 lbs! So, he's in 3-6 month comfortably, some 6-9 just so he wore them (a lot of sleeveless rompers that were too cute to not wear!). I'll put him in 6-9 for fall once it starts getting chilly here since I have that from E. Never thought boys born 6 months apart season-wise would end up sharing clothes!!

eating ~ DS is a very good eater. There hasn't been one thing that we've tried that he hasn't liked. Well, except for the cereal. I try to limit how many new things he gets since we are on the watch for possible allergies. (Already know about the milk.)

clothes ~ Well, my skinny boy can still wear 0-3 month onesies, a few outfits, and preemie shorts. That's right, preemie shorts at nearly 8 months. Never thought I'd say those words and I probably wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it myself. It's fun to buy clothes for him and I don't unless we try it on him first. Pants just fall off of him if you put him in the size he should be wearing (DD's did the same thing so that doesn't surprise me). He definitely takes after his daddy (he was slow to put on weight as well). Some shirts he does wear 3-6 month due to the neck being too little on the 0-3 month size. This whole experience has taught me not to buy a lot of clothes on clearance anymore. I've gotten burned twice now (when we bought winter things last summer before he was born and then when they put the summer things on clearance...the shorts he never got to wear).

active baby ~ DS has been crawling for about two months now. He is very active and in.every.thing. He loves the remotes, as did DD as his age. He also isn't in to sitting on the floor and playing much unless someone is down there with him. Thankfully DD will sit and play with him and help keep him entertained when I have to do something. He is going through some seperation anxiety when I leave the room or he can't see me. I expected it to pop up as DD did the same thing around 8 months when I'd go to the bathroom, go get a drink, etc. They get freaked when they don't see you and they think you've left them.

WOW! We really do have some big babies in this thread...18 mo. clothing??? Landon can still fit into some 18-24 mo. clothing and he's 2!!! lol I'm so impressed with these big eaters too. I guess my kids just don't really care much for the baby food. Landon was a LOT like Reece is w/ the solids. It bothered me a lot more w/ him then it does with Reece, although, tonight he actually ate a little less than half of his stage 1 sqwash and about 3 bites of pears for dinner...that's a lot for him. No wonder he still wakes up several times a night, maybe if he'd eat some food, he'd sleep longer??? ;)

Hi! Can I join???

I am so late to the game here, but having had a very high risk pregnancy I was really hesitant to join any mommies threads. Then I felt weird about joining after you all had been through your pregnancies, etc. together. But I thought to myself, I really don't want to miss out on the fun anymore! So I hope you all don't mind a new member.

I have identical twin boys named Aidan and Owen who were born on February 1, 2007 at 35w6d. My pregnancy had a rare complication called twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which can happen when identical twins share a placenta. In certain cases, the shared blood vessels in the placenta provide too much blood flow to one twin and not enough to the other. Luckily, I was able to have laser surgery when I was 21 weeks that severed the abnormal blood vessels and my twins arrived healthy and happy (although they did spend a little time in the NICU).

Anyhoo, they're 71/2 months old now and just as cute as can be. Here's a recent picture of them.

Owen is on the left and Aidan is on the right. I also have a DD named Ashley who just turned 2, so my life is a bit crazy right now!! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and your kiddos.

Welcome Sage! Glad you joined us. We do have another twim momma here as well, Isobel. So you may have already been swapping stories in the twins thread.

It is so interesting to read how every baby is so different at this age. Paty is amongst the chunky monkeys. At her 6 month WBV last week, she measured at
19lbs, 4 oz,
27 in and
17.5 in for her head.

She can wear some 6-12 month clothes and some 12m. It really depends on the outfit. I too have been burned buying clothes in what should fit her (based on weight and height) as well trying to buy ahead. Unfortunately, the clothes that fit her really well are Gap, Old Navy and Gymboree. So I try to catch the sales and not break the bank.

She's not crawling yet but she does scoot around, so I imagine it won't be too long.

Welcome Megan! Congrats on your boys. They are adorable. I wasn't around too much during my pregnancy either but nobody seems to mind. This is a very friendly thread. Sounds like you are doing good though after all those rough months. My DD spent a few days in the ICU after she was born as well and that was so hard. I sympathize with anyone who has to go through that.

Keeping up with you all..........I am here even though you haven't heard much from me. We are in the process of taking over my in-laws business. The very hard long 6 months of the paperwork process is finally over. Maybe I will post on a regular basis then. Hee Hee!

Reece's 6 mo. wbv stats:
weight: 17lbs. 12oz.
height: 27 1/2 inches
head circ.: 17 1/2

He had three shots and his final rota-virus vax, he's been pretty happy tonight and no fever, so that's good. :)

Sage - Welcome! What adorable boys you have! Sounds like you had quite the pregnancy and had a wonderful outcome. :) What great sizes they were when they were born.

labride - Wow, she did an awesome job with the design. I love it and he is such a doll!

I love that our little ones are all across the board on sizes. Sounds like everyone is doing well.

Clothes - Mainly is clothes that are 9-12 months. He does still fit in some 6 month stuff.

QOTD - Has anyone thought what your little one is going to be for Halloween? (Sorry if this has already been discussed). I think DS is going to wear his brother's porcupine outfit from last Halloween.

halloween: Reece will be the skunk from ON.

Ok...we're having some SERIOUS sleep issues in our house....He was up from 3:15-5:15 this morning, then back up at 7 a.m....I'm beat. This has got to end soon, right?

Halloween No clue.

Sleep He got up three times last night, but he was sleeping with Daniel (I took off to sleep in his bed (the joys of deciding to do a twin bed for him.

But he has started trying to feed himself finger foods and I have been putting some water in a sippy cup and he drinks out of it. I wanted to see if he would take a sippy so we could try BM in it. I think we have given up on bottles since he has taken about 4 ounces total from a bottle with a lot of fighting. The most he has every taken was 3 onces, beyond that it is 1/2 ounces.

WOOHOO!!! Reece only got up once last night...surely it was a fluke, but I'll take what I can get. :) 6.5 hours of straight sleep was heaven!!!

boiler: Oh...the early morning wakings are soooo fun!!! Landon was a notorious early riser...like, 4:30-4:45 every.single.morning. until he was about a year old. Good times! ;) Hang in there.

sippy's: In the paper that the ped. sent home w/ me it said we could start introducing a sippy. I haven't tried it yet though. He tries to get Landon's all the time though. :)

Sage: Welcome!

Halloween: DS is going as the dragon from Old Navy. It came in the mail yesterday. DH couldn't wait so he put it on DS last night. He was just so darn cute in it. We bought the 6-12mo size thinking it would be a little big, but it fit DS perfectly. I'm now worried it might be snug by the time Halloween is here.

sippy: DS will drink from a sippy and even hold it on his own for a while. But then he just plays with it and won't drink again until you hold it for him again.

Sage ~ Welcome to the group! I'll add your stats when I have time. My little one nearly came at 35 wks and I spent the next two wks extremely miserable (I was having contractions, dilating, severe hip/groin pain). As it was DS arrived at just barely 37 wks and had a few problems/complications during delivery. He was nearly transferred to a NICU and was in what the hospital called special care nursery. I've known a couple of women who've had twins that had TTTS. Did you have to have the surgery? My oldest turned two in late June.

Carrie ~ I always found that ON fit DD really good as well. They were the only pants I could find that would fit her and not be really big.

lindzgirl ~ Good luck with the business. Hope all the paperwork is finished soon.

Jen ~ Glad to hear that he handled the shots so well.

ranchers ~ We went through some sleep issues about a month ago as well. I thought it might mean that some teething was going on but none have appeared so I dont know what it was.

Halloween ~ Have a couple of ideas but don't know for sure.

sippy cup ~ We attempted one a few weeks ago (one of the beginner ones DD had that she wasn't fond of) but he wouldn't drink out of it. We are going to get a different one and see if we have better luck. It took DD forever to finally drink out of one (we never thought she was going to start drinking out of them). He does like to grab DD's cup when he sees it (but he does the same thing with our drinks) but I definitely try to keep her's away from him since he goes for it when it's got milk in it and he can't have milk (due to allergy).

Standing up ~ DS is now pulling up to stand up. He started it on Monday. And today he took a few steps while standing up holding on to a toy piano we have. So I am pretty sure that cruising is in our near future. Time is definitely going by. I can't believe it's already time for all of that to start.

I'm worried about the same thing, elenna. I ordered 6-12 mos. (old navy is usually very true to size) and it's perfect right now....I hope it still fits in over a month!lol

Thank you for the welcomes everyone!! :):):)

Daniel's Kitty - I took a look at your sig and saw that our toddlers were born on the exact same day!! That's a fun coincidence!

Lindzgirl - Thanks for the welcome!! Oh, that's too bad your DD was in the NICU too...it is definitely not a fun place to be. How long was she there for? I was totally in denial that my boys would need to go since they were 36w and had good weights. So I was a bit unprepared for it all, but luckily they got out pretty quickly (5 days for Aidan and 8 days for Owen).

usawife - Hi! i think I remember you from the high risk pregnancy thead...did you used to post in there?? I was in there A LOT during my pregnancy. I did have the surgery at 21 weeks...it absolutely saved our boys lives. We were only given a 58% chance of both boys surviving it, so we were very, very lucky that it all worked out.

Sippy's - Ooh, this is why I'm so glad I joined this thread!! I had totally forgotten about introducing a sippy early. We gave it to my DD really early, so by the time she was one it was no issue at all with switching from the bottle. Must remember to go buy sippy cups now!!

Halloween - I have no idea what we're going to do. I must get on this too b/c it seems like all the good costumes sell out early. I keep trying to think of cute twin ideas, but I'm drawing a blank. I've seen the "Thing One, Thing Two" costumes, but that seems a little tired. Must get my creative juices flowing.

My boys will probably be a little bit behind all of your kiddos since they were born a little early, but hopefully they will catch up to where they need to be. They are in about the 20th % or so for height/weight and are rolling all over the place. Owen sits up pretty well but not for long periods of time, and Aidan is not as good of a sitter but getting better. They will stand and hold on to the side of the couch if you put them there, but no signs of pulling up on their own.

Crawling seems like it might be around the corner b/c they'll pull up a knee when they're on their tummies. But my DD didn't crawl until 10 months, so we'll see. I am in NO hurry for them to crawl...actually, the thought really scares me. I cannot imagine having to chase after two crawling babies going in the opposite direction!! Luckily our house is pretty childproofed already for DD, but we need to make sure we've hit everything that's on their level.

We're back from Hawaii!!!!

I will post some pics later, but I wanted to stop in and say hello to our newest member, SAGE!!! Hello!

Our trip was fantastic! Cole was great on the plane. He slept the whole way back, YEAH!!! He was in an awkward position across my legs so I was too uncomfortable to sleep, but at least he slept! He adjusted to the time zone change really well, in fact he was actually sleeping 12 hours there (waking once in the night to eat). I was thrilled, to say the least!!!! Our pictures are so fun and I am so glad we brought him. He loved the sand and all of the birds. While we were there he started pulling up on things = O I'm not ready for this Slow these babies down, they are growing too quickly!!!

Here's my best at SO:

Sleep- Cole is usually up at about 3:30 or 4 every morning. Once he eats he goes back to bed, so I really can't complain. My sympathies to those whose babies are throwing crib parties at 2am.

Crawling- Still army crawling everywhere. He can get up on all 4's he just won't crawl that way.

Halloween- I think he's going as the monkey from GAP. Not sure?!?!

Sippycup-Cole loves the sippy cup. Actually, he loves anything with water in it. He usually makes a huge mess down the front of his shirt when he uses the sippy cup, it cracks me up! He also loves to drink out of mommy's water cup or bottle.

Clothes- 9-12 month fit the best. Cole fits best into CP, ON and GAP clothes. They seem to fit his long torso well. He has thinned out a lot since he started crawling. He's the same weight he's just leaner and he has grown so much over the last 2 weeks his 6 month clothes are too short. He can wear 12 month onesies, but his legs are too short for 12 month pants. He is built like his dad, long torso with shorter legs. Does anyone else love shopping for DC's clothes? I don't know why, but I love picking out DS's outfits. I would rather shop for him than me.

Sage- A good friend just had an emergency c-section to deliver her twin-twin babies. They put her on bedrest at 20 weeks. She made it to 31 weeks and the smallest baby was showing blood pressure issues so they had to deliver. The boys were born at 1pd 8oz and 2pd 10oz. They have been in NICU for almost 2 weeks and they are both doing really well. This has been such a stressful time for all of us, especially for their mommy. I am so thankful your boys were born at such great weights! What a blessing! I know my friend and her babies have a long journey ahead of them so if you remember keep them in your thoughts!

I will BBL with some pics!

princess: Welcome back!!! Glad you guys had a great trip and sounds like Cole was a perfect angel. What a good boy! :) Can't wait to see pics.!

pulling-up: Reece just started this today. Not all the way up though, just to his knees, I actually watched him attempt it last night in his crib, but he full on did it today at my parents on a toy box. Great! I agree...these babies need to sllooooww down!!!

A friend of mine just called today and told me that her and her husband (dh's best friend) are expecting (their first!). We are thrilled for them. She's one of my best friends and I'm so happy for them. HOWEVER....Here's what mine and Brett's phone conversation sounded like after he called me, after Brad called to tell him the news:
Me: Did you hear?
Brett: Did Sara call you?
Me: Yes, I'm so freakin' excited for them!!!
Brett: Me too! What's the age difference going to be between their baby and Reece?
Me: 14 mos., why?
Brett: **silence** Hmmm...lets start trying to get pregnant again, that way our babies will be close in age, 14 mos. is too far apart!
Me: Lots of naughty words that I shouldn't post on here, then..."Um, yeah, probably not babe, I'm currently standing in the garage with Reece on my hip trying to coax Landon to unlock the car door that he has locked himself in, NAKED with the ONLY set of keys. Probably NOT a good time to discuss having another"...freakin' dummy!

rancherswife - LOL! Did you ever get Landon out of the car??? My DH is DONE having kids. I still think I may want another, maybe 3 or 4 years down the road. DH thinks I'm nuts.

princess - Oh my, you all make a beautiful family!! I'm so glad Cole was so good, especially on the flight!! I can't believe you had a friend with TTTS! Wow, what a small world. I am SO glad that both her babies arrived safe and sound. 31 weeks is great for TTTS twins, it was really rare that I went all the way to (almost) 36w. Did she have the surgery?? I'm so glad her babies are doing so well in the NICU...I will definitely keep them all in my thoughts!!

sage: Yes, I finally got him out of the car, it did take some time though.

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, I keep up with the thread but can't seem to find enough time to post :o

Sage - Welcome and congrats on your beautiful boys!

Sleep - We went through a period of a few weeks where she began to wake more often at night to eat which I assume was the 6m growth spurt. We're just getting back to some normalcy so hopefully it's over!

Halloween - I've decided not to go all out this year so I just got her a cute onesie and me a cute shirt from ON.

Sippys - I gave her some BM in one the other day and she guzzled it down so I don't think it'll be a problem switching over.

usafwife - Wow cruising, I'm so not ready for that!!

Candice - Hawaii looks fantastic!! I love all the pics and you definitely have a gorgeous family!! Cole is too cute!!

Pulling up - yup I happened to catch her on video pulling herself up on her bouncy seat (video (http://www.motionbox.com/video/player/ec94d0be111de061/7c7c2d580e490cc0))

We haven't had our 6m WBV yet but here are the estimated stats:

weight - approx 20 lbs (according to home scale)
height - approx 28 inch
clothing size - 6-12m
shoe size - 2-3/6-12m

Hello all,

I have been reading along but finally found some time to update! The girls are doing great, though reading about all the crawlers is making me feel like they are behind!! The worst thing about twins is not being able to

Evie had torticollis so she is with Malcom in the helmet club. Luckily she is so good natured that I think she has hardly noticed. She has been in it about seven weeks and has done do well with it that she should be out within a couple of weeks. We caught it right at her growth spurt. Physical therapy has not been as successful and I am thinking of switching therapists. The helmet also makes it harder for her to sit up as she is a bit top heavy. She has been doing some prompted army crawling too.

Jane is at the rocking stage but has not made the move to crawl yet. She sits up like a champ but we have to put her in the position. She is the laziest baby ever. We know she can roll over but she won't do it in front of us. She will just lay there and cry until we move her.

sippys: neither one has figured it out though Jane loves to drink from a regular glass. I may just skip the sippy, at least for her.

sleep: they go down at 6:30, wake up 1-3 times, and get up for the day between six and seven. I don't see this ceasing anytime soon but at least they go right back to sleep after nursing.

food: they eat three "meals" a day at 8:30/12/5:30. A meal is usually a couple of tablespoons of cereal, and a jar of stage two food split between them.

Halloween: I bought them devil and angel costumes last year. Hope they fit!

We do not have a good picture of the two of them together on Google so here is one from my SIL's blog. Hope she does not mind!

sage Welcome!! I too had a good girlfriend with TTTS with her girls- they are doing fine now at 15 months! Wonderful that the surgery was successful- that is so great to hear! My little guy Malcolm was born at 35 weeks and has had some issues (torticollis, hip dysplasia, and brachycephaly) so he's a bit behind in motor skills too. We're working with a PT to get him caught up! He's no where near crawling at this point.

isobel Your girls are beautiful!! Sorry to hear you are in the tort club as well. I've also had a lot of problems with the first PT we were working with- she disappeared! We're starting with a new one on Tuesday. Did they say how long Evie needs to be in the helmet? (I don't know for M!).

Princess Love the Hawaii pix!! Cole looks so happy there! We booked our trip for M's 1st b-day- I can't wait!

I can empathize on the teething fussies la bride. We've had a cranky boy over the past week and then I looked in his mouth yesterday and there was a bottom tooth :)!! Of course, it's a different tooth than the one that has been sharp since about 3 months. He's still pretty clingy and fussy. He won't let me look in his mouth very closely, but I wouldn't be surprised if another shows soon.

It was pretty rough leaving my guy for a few days on my work trip, but it was good for him to have that intensive Daddy time. Great bonding on both ends!

He had his 6 mos WBV just after he got to 7 mos since the Dr was on vacation. He's nearly 16 lbs which puts him at 6%, but on the curve and growing at a consistent pace. The dr suggested supplementing with high fat foods as much as possible so we've been stuffing him full with solids and an extra bottle at night.

Oh the joys of nursing a 7 month old:

- DS biting my nipple
- DS biting my nipple multiple times in one session
- DS grabing, pinching and twisting the nipple he's not biting
- DS grabing, pinching and twisting the nipple he's not biting, while I am sound asleep
- DS pinching my stomach fat
- DS pinching my neck
- DS kicking me in the stomach

I can go on and on!!!!

I seriously love nursing him and it is such a great bonding experience, but I am ready for this pinching and biting stage to be over!!!

Oh my goodness, what adorable babies we have! Too, too cute!

PrincessCJ - I hear you about the abusive baby during nursing. I get my hair pulled, kicked, you name it. I've never tried it, but I think I might look into a nursing necklace to see if that will help things.

Sorry to hear of all the babies who are teething. DS #1 didn't get his first tooth until 11 months and there is no indication that DS #2 will get his any faster. DS #1 is working on getting one molar and three eye teeth in and is miserable, so I really don't need two kids teething.

Elenna

princesscj: I totally sympathize. DS kept biting my nipple while his top tooth was coming in. He stopped once it came in, but I'm still weary of any signs of more biting. He also kept grabbing and twisting the nipple he wasn't nursing on until i started immediately covering up it up once it was no longer in use.

ranchers ~ Yes, I'm definitely kept on my toes over here between both DD and DS.

Sage ~ Yes, I did post in the high risk thread. Glad to hear that the surgery was a success.

Princess ~ Glad you had a good trip. Wonderful pictures.

Danea ~ I wasn't quite ready for it either and definitely not for what happened a few days later (walking while holding onto DH's hands from the living room to DD's bedroom).

isobel ~ I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the girls either. How cute!

la_bride[b] ~ Sorry about the teething. I hope it passes soon.

[b]aloha ~ Sorry to hear that you are dealing with teething as well. DS has become rather clingy to me as well the past few days. I'm not sure if it's the beginning of teething (still can't feel any) or if it's the seperation anxiety. I remember going through it with DD. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her screaming out when she was around DS' age.

Sounds like your little guy is like mine...on the small side. At 6 months he was just 15 lbs and I don't know how much more he's put on but I don't think it's too much. He's still able to wear much smaller sizes than his current age (shorts are 0-3 month...the preemie finally got too short in the crotch, shirts and mainly 0-3 though some 3-6 month). I try everything on before we buy it.

Candice ~ Not BFing anymore but I get my hair pulled numerous times a day. And I've became a human junglegym the past week or so. Diaper changes have become so much fun as well. And he throughly hates the carseat now (it ties him down). Going anywhere in the van is so much fun!

jenjen ~ I'm thinking that my little guy won't be getting any teeth until around that same time. It's new to us since DD had her first at around 6 months. I almost think that he'll be walking before he has any teeth at the rate we are going.

Walking ~ As I mentioned above, DS is now walking while holding onto our hands/fingers. So much of my day is spent walking him or he is very upset. It makes me tried with everything else I have going on (with my body).

Mommy IDs ~ Do we just want to do away with them and go back to the old way of listing members/pictures?

teething - add me to the group!! I thought it was going to be a while since she's been drooling like crazy since 2 months but nothing to show for it and lately the drooling has stopped. Then the other night she got really clingy and extra fussy so I checked her mouth and what do you know there's a tooth starting to push through! Oh joy!!

pinching - yup, it hurts like a biotch, especially if her nails need to be trimmed.

rancherswife
09-19-2007, 10:45 PM
biting: I had one incident with Landon when he was about 7 months old, he had four teeth already and chomped down on my nipple and I seriously thought I was going to need my nipple re-attached surgically, it was horrible! Reece doesn't have any teeth yet, so...for now, it's just gumming. ;) Which can be painful as well, but not nearly as bad as the sharp little teeth they get. :)

Mommy IDs - I'm okay with going back to the old way of doing it.

feeding schedule - This is his schedule during the week:
6:00-6:30 - Nurse
7:00 - 1 Stage 2 jar of fruit
7:15 - Nurse him to top him off
11:00 - 8oz of EBM
3:00 - 8oz of EBM
6:00 - Nurse and then 1 Stage 2 jar of veggie (sometimes gets some Puffs or a piece of z. toast)
7:30 Nurse
(9:00 - Nurse. I'm trying to cut this one out in the next few weeks though).
Also, I think I'm going to start taking baby food to the sitters house so she can feed him around noon.

Wow, it's been a while! All the babies are getting soooo big. Here are Sophie's stats from her 6 month WBV:

Weight: 15lb 12oz!!!! (45th percentile)
Length: 25.5 in (50th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17in (75th percentile)

Add us to the camp of serious sleep issues. Had a good night last night, so keeping my fingers crossed that it continues.

Halloween: Still trying to decide. Narrowed it down to Hershey's Kiss (DH's pic) or baby Octopus (my pic).

Sippy cup: I got obe for Sophie a few months ago. Right now, she just plays w/ it. She's tried to drink from it, but can't suck hard enough to get anything. She LOVES drinking bottled water from a water bottle though. Go figure!

Clothes: Can wear 6 month clothes although some 3-6 month still fit

Crawling/Pulling Up: Nothing yet, although she is starting to put herself in the crawling position

Feeding: I so lax (andd lazy) about this. I try to give Sophie cereal (oatmeal) in the morning and the about 3 oz of veggies in the afternoon. I may increase it to 4 oz though as she's gobbling her food up. Her peds mentioned that we could increase to solids 3x/day so we're working on that.

dpangel and isobel - Cute pics!

la bride - Wow, I can't believe you knew someone with TTTS too!! It is such a rare thing. I don't even know anyone else (besides online) with identical twins, let alone ID twins with TTTS. It is amazing the connections you can find in the online community. I'm so glad your friends' little girls are doing so well!

Teething - My boys chomp on *everything*, but no teeth yet. I keep thinking they will pop through any minute, but I don't feel anything on their gums. My DD didn't start getting teeth until she was 12 months, so it will probably be awhile...

Feeding - I am so not organized about this. We just try to make sure they each get a minimum of 24oz of formula a day, and then try to also get in at least 2 jars of solids. Aidan is a much better eater than Owen, though, and probably gets more than that in a typical day. Owen is always a struggle.

We are getting over a major bout of croup in our house. All 3 kids had it and it was MISERABLE. They all seem like they're finally on the mend, so maybe we will start getting some sleep again soon.

sage: Ughh...sorry to hear about the croup, Reece had that a few weeks ago, still has the nasty cough, but it is now wet. Nice! ;)

checking in after a few weeks

I'd post our feeding schedule but she just finally started eating oatmeal this weekend, so we are really just BF on demand and I've done her cereal around 5-5:30 in the evening before a nursing session.

We've had some cute pics..
CJ, Hawaii looks like it was a fantastic vacation. Cole is such a cutie!! Glad the trip went well for you.

Danea, Hailey is such a cutie. It cracks me up how similar in stats our girls are. Though mine doesn't have any teeth yet.

Isobel, they are adorable!!! I am so busy with one, i can only imagine how you are doing it with 2!

Glad to hear everyone else is doing good despite all the teething we have going on. Paty is showing plenty of signs, but no teeth yet.

As for Halloween, we are doing a costume but I haven't decided what yet. I was going to do the babystyle octopus but then a good friend of ours bought it for her son. Since we will prob see them for at least one halloween party, I don't want them to have the same costume. So back to square one. I do plan to make her costume though.

Paty's newest trick is standing up. She pulls herself up and just loves to stand while holding on to whatever is near. We had to lower her crib a notch when I discovered she was having fun playing peek a boo (her other favorite thing ) over the crib rail.

And some pics...
these were taken by CC's fms

I came in to pick Cole up from his nap and when I walked in he was standing up on the crib trying to lift his leg over the top rail = O

We just recently lowered the crib, but obviously it wasn't low enough. I immediatley made DH lower it to the lowest level.

How do they just learn to do something in one day? And can't they tell me ahead of time that they've learned it!!!!

Thread Changes

The thread will be undergoing some changes very soon. I will try to get to the updates and get them done as soon as I can. Please understand the delay in getting them done. We will be moving to the toddler groups area in early January as our little ones approach their first birthdays.

Mommy IDs ~ We will be going back to the old style of listing members. That means we won't have the mommy IDs anymore. We haven't gotten an update in quite some time so we will not be continuing with them. I'll leave them up in this thread so if you'd like to save yours you can.

Co-Mods ~ Anyone want to be a co mod? Please send me a PM (to my regular screenname) if you'd like to help out. Our other two mods are going to step down.

Need Input ~ Some of the groups combine/join when they move to the toddler area. What is everyone's feelings on joining with the January 07 group? We don't have to and it's just something I'm putting out there for discussion. I know sometimes that joining two months can a lot to keep up with, don't have the same feelings as closeness, hard to keep up, etc. Feel feel to PM or email the group address on this.

Updates ~ Updates were done for the following for baby stats:
MrsSki
jenjen
la_bride
njnewyearsbride
bombera77
boilermaker
ranchers
dpangel
ladybug

and adding Sage to the member list.

Well I have alot of catching up to do.. Madi is now 8 months old and getting so big.. she's talking and rolling everywhere, not quite sitting, but getting there. Laughing and has quite the personality. lol she was 19.8 lbs and 27 inches long.. we're back on eatting baby food, we had to stop earlier becasue she got so backed up, but it's all good now... She still nurses, but usually only at nap and bedtimes. We're still dealing with the "sore" on her face but it does seem to be getting a little better.

I'm off to read about 20 pages of updates... be back soon.

I feel for ya.. I'm going thru the same thing with Madi.. Gotta love them though.

feeding:
between 3 to 5 a.m.: nurse or bottle
9 a.m.: stage 2 fruit mixed w/ oatmeal and 6oz bottle
*sometimes nurses after she eats the fruit
10 ish: nurse for Naptime
12ish: Veggie and Rice cereal. and 6oz bottle
3ish another bottle or nurse.
6 p.m.: stage 2 fruit mixed w/ oatmeal and 6oz bottle
8 p.m.: nurse and to bed...

mind you all of these times vary day by day. She's been waking up at 3ish and staying awake till 5ish then nursing going back to sleep and then waking up at 10.. so all the times can vary.

Stats...

Madi went to the dr's last week from a cold and she was 19.8 lbs..and 27 inches long...she's wearing 12-18 mo clothes. and has a roly poly stomach. She started saying Da da and Hi.. not quite Ma ma .. err... lol but we've been so bust between my mommies groups, story time at the libary and just our everyday activities.. Madi is growing up so fast.. I can't believe she's already 8 months old.. Yesterday.

Halloween???? Not quite sure yet.. Must get on this.. lol

Combining threads - Personally, I like just having our little group for the exact reasons mentioned (hard to keep up with, not a feeling of "closeness" or familiar with the others, and such a big range of ages). However, I'll go along with whatever the majority wants to do.

boilermaker - She is just a sweetheart! Has anyone every told you that she looks just like you?

Thanks for the compliments ladies. Jenjen, lots of people, incl perfect stangers, say she looks just like me. DH calls her the mini-me. I'll take it :)

CJ, I had to laugh at Cole trying to get out of the crib. I'm tempted to just lower ours all the way to the bottom and be done with it.

Kim, is Reece on the move yet? Do we have other crawlers in here?

Jen, how cute that she is talking already!!! And we have lots of rolly pollies in here.

As for the thread, I prefer to keep us as our own group. However, I know how much work it is to be a mod given the expectations of this board. If any of you are willing to step up and help Meri out, I think we can continue as is. But I know we are all busy and I personally never look back at the front page, so updates are really kind of pointless to me. I use the thread as a disussion forum with people who are going through something similar.

My suggestion would be that we don't need to do regular updates to the front pages, just once when we set up a thread. That our thread could be more of a discussion than the formal threads that have been created. Just because that is the way all the other ones are set up doesn't mean we have to do it that way as well. Anybody else have thoughts on this?

DItto.. Althought, my punkin, came early.. I'm still very conected withthe Feb Mom's. I think my Madi is a little "Lazy" so she's not as advanced as the other Jan mom's

I promise I will keep up with the thread, but I too never really look at the front page. :p I wouldn't mind stepping up and helping with the thread.

threads - I too rarely look at the front page. I love seeing how everyone's WBV went, but in all honesty, I don't go to the front page to every go back and see what everyone's baby was weighing and measuring at 4 months, 6 months, etc. KWIM? I like boilermaker's suggestion of not making updates to the front page anymore, just when a new thread is needed.

Elenna

threads: I don't look at the front page either.
combining: I'd actually like to see the January and February threads merge, for selfish reasons. I belong to both groups and it would be easier to keep up with and just post in one thread. But it is up to both groups whether they merge.

Edited to add:E'sprincess's signoff made me thing of a QOTD: What nicknames do you have for your DC?
Since Lee's name is so short we haven't nicknamed that, but we do call him:
-"Goober"
-DH tries to keep calling DS "Eddie" (a nickname of DS's middlename) despite my protests
-"Little dude"

Boilermaker - Those are adorable pictures!!! You reminded me that I must.make.appointments to get pics taken!!!

princesscj81 - about Cole trying to climb out of the crib!!! My DD just turned 2 and she just tried to do that for the first time a few weeks ago. She is very adventurous, but for some reason never figured out the whole crib escape thing.

Combining threads - Well, seeing as I just joined I really feel like I should have no input!! But I will say that I very rarely ever look at the front pages of group threads, so it makes sense to stop the updates and just use it as discussion forum. That was a great suggestion, Boilermaker!

QOTD:

Ooh, I love nicknames. I call both boys "Little Man" all the time. I also call Owen "Owenbear", and Aidan "Lemonaidan". My DH thinks that last one is annoying and tells me I should at least call him "Gatoraidan" since he's a boy. My DH calls them O-Meister and A-Meister and O-Danian and A-Donian. Yeah, I don't quite get that one.

I like that idea boiler, that would probably make it a heck of a lot easier on the TM. :)

boiler: He's on the verge, can make one stride forward, then goes flat as a pancake on the floor, I'm really in no hurry, but I have a feeling, it's just a matter of days. ;) He is however pulling up on everything, even tries to pull up on Landon, which makes me really nervous, since Landon doesn't stay put in one spot for more than a minute.lol Gotta keep an eye on them all.the.time.!!!

nicknames: Not sure if I've posted this in here, but Landon calls Reece "Douche" yeah...poor baby! It started out as Landon calling him "Weesh", then a few months after he was born Landon started singing this little song that he made up that went "doooo daddy, do daddy do daddy, or dooooo...______anyone's name, so of course, he started saying "do-weesh", then somehow, he shortend that to "Douche" lovely. So...we call him "do", "do bop", "do wop" "brother bear"...the kid has a ton of nicknames. ;)

My baby is 7 months old today!!!, I cannot believe how fast time is going. :(

E'sprincess--Welcome to the teething club! Samuel's got 2 that have broken through and are working their way up (it looks like a 3rd on top is coming but hard to tell). He's also got a cold so it's been a major whine fest/sleep deprivation scene here.

I'm checking very quickly.

I've got some health issues going on right now. I know I'm looking at having to have at least one surgery and possibly more. Won't know until we get the test results back. I don't mind doing the updates but just want everyone to realize that they may not get done for a couple of weeks. I may start having a certain date (like the 1st day of the month or 1st Friday etc) that updates are done and those that are posted by that day get done and those that aren't don't get updated until
