This is so weird. For whatever reason i was inspecting my nipple today and saw what looked like some dead skin and a tiny black dot (like the size of a pinhead) in the center of my nipple. In order to get at it, i had to "pick up" my breast in one hand (they're big, what can I say). I picked off the dead skin and nothing happened immediatly, but a few seconds later an opaque discharge started flowing out. At first i thought it was from the actual nipple, but nothing else happened when i squeezed the nipple. However, when i squeezed on my breast under the areola it started flowing out again. So it seems to actually be coming from a duct. It is not red or pink. It is almost milky but with a very very light green tinge. It is rather thick...when i went to wipe it with toilet paper it did not absorb right away and looked thicker than breast milk. I'l mention that i'm not completely aware of what breast milk looks like. I am not pregnant and have not been pregnant for over 5 years and that pregnancy ended in it's second month.

My breast is not sore (aside from the soeness of squeezing on it for 30 minutes) and it is not hot and i do not have a fever. I am a little concerned because i know this can be an early sign of breast cancer. I should mention that I have recently be diagnosed with PCOS and have been going through a lot of hormonal changes. Also, I am pretty sure i am not pregnant. I did not take a test, but the timing just wouldn't be right plus I haven't O'd in almost 6 months.

My milk has never had a greenish tint to it. That doesn't seem normal. It could have been a clogged pore... I'd keep an eye on it and if it continues to worry you, call the doctor.

The green tint seems odd. Is it like skim milk or like pus?

It could be galactorrhea. I've had galactorrhea many times off and on, especially during/after AF and when using BCPs. I'd contact my doc about it, though, especially because of the color.

OK, so i was in the bath messing with my boob and more came out. so i showed DH and he said it doesn't look green. When i said what does it look like he said it almost looks a little brown!!! Then i asked him if he thought it looked like pus and he said no. So i don't know what it could be at this point. But I'm going to call the dr tomorrow morning.

maybe you have an infected duct? i dont know if thats possible...but i assume any dishcharge that is brown (or green) tinted would be infection?

Anytime you have discharge from your nipple (and you are not PG) you should seek medical advice.

I've read about this before, but for the life of me, can't remember what the person found out it was. I can remember it wasn't anything terrible, but it was a condition that was diagnosed.

I hope you come back and update. I'll be thinking of this all night, trying to remember what it was.

Thanks ladies. I just left a message for my dr and hopefully someone will call be back before i have to go to work tonight. If i have to call in for a late appointment my boss is going to kill me.

It's so weird. I've just never expected to see anything come out of my breast!!! At least not until i had babies, lol.

My friends had this and I think she was diagnosed with some type of adrenal (spelling?) disease. They ran a lot of tests before coming up with that. It was very strange.

I have leaking nipples, mostly clear milky color. I am not pg and never have been. The doctor said this just happens to some women. He checked my prolactin levels and they were normal. Its been going on for 6 months, he told me not to squeeze them.

So I went to the dr. I didn't see my normal gyn, so i ended up seeing some NP and she was AWFUL. I told her what happened and she did a little squeeze and took a swab of the little bit that came out. I asked her what it might be, she said "it's nothing, you picked at it". So I told her that it kind of worried me that there was so much and she practically yells at me "you picked it, what did you expect it to do". So yeah, she never really answered my question of what it could mean. Then she asked me why i was trying to make an appointment to see the GP there and I told her that i needed to get on metformin for my PCOS. So she tells me well i should just go see and endocronologist. I told her that V (my normal gyno) told me i didn't need to see one. So she gives me this look and rolls her eyes and says "don't listen to V". Um HELLLLOOO....V is my dr. And keep in mind, they work at the same practice. She was nasty and all around a bitch. SOO, i think i'm going to talk to the office manager because i can't believe she told me to ignore what my normal dr already told me and with such disdain. Ick. But i guess everything is ok and we'll find out if there is an infection in a week or so. But she didn't even tell me what it could be. She basicly made it seem like it was all my fault for picking.

That sounds like a HORRIBLE NP! Definitely tell the office manager and follow up with your regular doctor. Seeing an Endocrinologist might not be a bad idea, but that's a separate issue altogether. Did they do any bloodwork on you?
That would just have made me so upset. Definitely don't let her attitude keep you from following up on this until you get a suitable answer. I know you can excrete breastmilk if your prolactin levels are too high. I had elevated Prolactin levels due to a growth on my pituitary and my endocrinologist was constantly amazed that I WASN'T lactating with levels that high.
hope you figure out what yours is soon!

I'm not pregnant and never have been, but I get a little bit of discharge too - I don't notice it when it's wet, but sometimes there's like a little "crust" over the nipple. It's not green though - it's white. I would try to talk to the dr. if you're still concerned about it

Hey. I'm sorry that the NP was such a b*tch. Did you ever find out what was wrong? I hope it was nothing.

Could it just be a really nasty zit? I get them all the time on various parts of my breasts, and the Gyn usually chastises me for picking at them.
