Does anyone have a brick chimney that is painted the same color as the house? I was just curious. DH and I are buying a gray house with a brick chimney. The brick is kind of old and 70's looking so we were thinking of painting it gray to match the house.

I guess painting it would make it look more like it had siding on it. All of the fireplaces in my neighborhood have vinyl on them. My vote is if it's looking bad, paint it (as long as there aren't any hazards associated with painting it). At least then it would look fresh and clean .

Thats kind of what we were thinking that it would look better painted.

I would paint it the color of the trim rather than the color of the house, but that's just me.

We have two chimneys, one that is painted directly on the brick w/out vinyl siding. It is painted the same color as our home, until it is exposed at the roof, then we just left it natural brick.

The other chimney is internal and we left it as natural brick on top. I like the idea of painting the same color as the home. The trim color may be too overpowering and concentrated in one area, but it's really a matter of personal preference.

Our chimney is painted the same color as the trim on the house. I think it looks nice.
