The fourth season of Dancing with the Stars begins on March 19th! :) I'm not fond of the new timeslot and I'm not super excited about the cast this season...but I'm still looking forward to the show nonetheless.
The ABC website now has photos and bios up for all of this season's performers. Here's a link:
Dancing with the Stars (http://abc.go.com/primetime/dancingwiththestars/index)
From abc.com:
In a Dancing with the Stars first, three athletes will dance to the finish in the fourth season of the hugely popular series, returning MONDAY, MARCH 19 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. Among the athletes are a current Olympic Gold Medalist, a member of the 1992 Men's U.S. Olympic Basketball Dream Team, and an undefeated female boxer - the first female athlete to compete on the series. Celebrities joining them include a singer/actor who stars alongside his daughter in one of the Disney Channel's most popular programs, a former member of one of the biggest selling music groups of all-time, and a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and activist for Adopt-A-Minefield.

Before anything starts, I'm routing for Apolo Ohno!!
I wonder how Heather Mills is going to do... wonder if anyone is going to be a bit rude to her given the recent *ahem* goings-on in her life.

My mom's a BIG Paul fan, and when I heard a rumor that Heather Mills was going to be on the show, she said she didn't want to watch because of that. However, my mom got hooked last year, so she'll be back :)

The cast this year is just ehhh. Too bad Cheryl B is w/ Ian Ziering (not a fan of schmaltzy Steve S from 90210). Does that mean she will 3-peat with him?
I see they gave another geriatric dancer to Edyta (poor Edyta. Her real chance for the run was Joey last year).
Heather Mills...Yuck. I hope she gets voted off on the first round (sorry Jonathan R.). Can you tell I'm a fan of Paul? :p It's either her or Joey Fatone who actively dissed the show until it became a success (hypocrite).
I see Mario's girlfriend aka Sore Loser Karrr-ina is paired with Mr. Achy Breaky Heart himself. Not a fan of hers so maybe she'll be gone early too?
Hmmm...who does that leave with a remote chance? The b-ball player, Leeza, Leila & Paulina?

I just heard on the radio that Vincent Pastore has backed out because he didn't realize how much training was involved. I guess he's never seen the show before! I wonder who they'll get now.

There was a lot of press last year when Emmit won and Mario and his gal were pouting and saying that "championship dancing" wasn't enough to win and she said she didn't think the best dancer won. Yada yada.
They were being ungracious. If it was on the football field and they said crap like that, they would have been jumped.

Cheers's Cliff to Join Dancing with the Stars (http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20013921,00.html)
Ratzenberger, who played Cliff Clavin on the popular barroom sitcom for 11 seasons, will take the place of actor Vincent Pastore, who dropped out of the competition earlier this week, claiming that the show's physical demands were too rigorous.
Edyta has a new partner! According to this article, JR isn't really a dancing novice so the learning curve probably won't be that high.
I'm a Cheers fan! Will we be seeing Norm with a beer in the audience too? :D

I was so surprised to see Vincent Pastore in the first place. Heck, he could barely do Celebrity Fit Club activities without passing out, much less this show.
Can't wait for the show to begin though I'm not really interested in any of the celebs. I guess I'll have to pick a fav or two once the show starts.

I was prepared to not like Heather Mills AT ALL. But she seems like a really good sport.
I was impressed with her dancing. Her partner said they can't put weight on her prosthetic leg; that has GOT to be incredibly difficult for ballroom dancing.
I liked so many people last night... Ian, Joey, Laila, Clyde.
Fatone is a great entertainer. So fun to watch. If Clyde can start shaking it up a bit, he could be a contender. He has the footwork (or so it seems).

I really enjoyed last night's show!! Here's my take:
Ian Ziering - He did really well and I was rather impressed with him. I don't think he's the best at this level, but certainly has the potential to improve and do big things within the competition.
Paulina Porizkova - She looked really nice, although REALLY tense. I wasn't really too impressed with her dancing in general, but for someone who compares her grace to that of Bullwinkle, she was quite graceful.
Billy Ray Cyrus - I can't stand to look at him, he just really grates on my nerves. That said, I got a kick out of seeing him dance because he SO reminded me of my husband and me when we started taking ballroom dancing lessons. He's so unsure of himself and awkward. I don't see him lasting long, thank goodness.
Leeza Gibbons - Can the woman smile any more?? That's what struck me most during her performance - she smiled the entire time! She was very tentative on her foot placement and seemed like she was trying too hard and not relaxed in the least bit. I love her enthusiasm and hope that she can relax and do better next week.
Joey Fatone - I was not an NSYNC fan, and didn't really know anything about him aside from "boy band"... so didn't think much of him before I saw him. I love his personality!! OMG, he was cracking me up! Then he danced a great dance. He'll go far.
Laila Ali - She did better than I thought she would do, and she looked great. I even thought her attitude was appropriate for what she does. She and whatshisname are both no-nonsense people, so they should do well as partners. It will be interesting, because she did really well in my opinion.
Clyde Drexler - Even though he was on-beat, the rhythm seemed so slow to me. Maybe because he's so tall it just felt that way?? I don't want to compare him to either Jerry Rice or my sweetheart, Emmitt Smith, but they were both so animated. I hope that he can come out of his shell and step it up a bit. He can do the technical stuff, he just needs to get some charisma to shine through to sell it!
Shandi Finnessey - Well, the judge said it when he coined them as Barbie and Ken. I'm not feeling the love for them, but I thought she danced pretty well.
John Ratzenberger - I thought he did really well, but I felt (like I did with Clyde) that he was moving in slow motion at times. Maybe it's just in comparison to how compelling Jerry Springer was last season. I hope that he comes alive a bit more next week.
Heather Mills - I don't like her. However, for what she has to work with, I thought that she did amazingly well. She can put weight on her prosthetic, but they have to be careful because they don't always know how the prosthetic is going to react to the weight. At this moment in time, with all the soldiers who are coming home with one leg, no legs, partial legs (in addition to those coming home with other disabilities), I really felt moved at how well she did and how those newly-disabled men and women have someone they can look at for inspiration and hope. Her dress was hideous and her hair was awful... I hope she looks better next week.
Apolo Ohno - He was my call before the season started and I'm going to stick with him. OMG, his hips were amazing! Let me tell you, "latin motion" is not an easy thing to get down and master when you're trying to do the dances too! It's going to be a tough battle for him to do the dances in between his skating schedules, but I hope he can do it!! I loved him!!
So, now after seeing them, my favorites are the guys. The women just aren't doing anything for me. Maybe Laila and Leeza if she can loosen up.

I like what you said about people looking to her for inspiration and hope. One of my friends has to get her leg amputated. She was also hurt in a car accident. She was telling me that Heather IS an inspiration to her and that she can't wait to get her prosthetic so that she can dance like her. It was just neat you said something about that. I hope she does well just so my friend will have a little light at the end of her tunnel! :D

I don't know if Heather picked the hair and dress herself, but I remeber during soem show filler last season, they showed the wardrobe process. The stars and dancers were clearly involved in costume design, which leads me to beleive that at a minimum, Heather saw the design and approved it. It could be different in the first few rounds I guess, or something has changed, but considerign what everyone else was wearing, I tend to think not.
I do think her costume will work against her since she looked so ridiculous. Also, her hands and arms were awkward, though I suppose that could be to compensate a bit for her balance issues.
Part of me want Billy Ray to stay around another week or two. I'm not even sure why, but I'd prefer that someone like Barbie/Shandi go home. She wasn't bad, just really boring.
Why did Billy Ray Cyrus get to perform to his own song? I think it was actually a recording of him singing, and not the house band performing. Other singers have been on the show before and haven't done that. Why him? And his plug for his album was inappropriate, IMO. If every celebrity starts to plug their schtick, I'll be disappointed.

Heather was pretty impressive tonight. That little walkover thing was crazy. I couldn't do that and I have 2 good legs! I think she will definitely be an inspiration to other amputees.
Her outfit was much better tonight, too!
I don't know what to think of Laila. Her mambo wasn't bad but she's so athletic looking. It's hard for me to see her as a sexy dancer when she looks ready to kick someone's butt.

I don't know what to think of Laila. Her mambo wasn't bad but she's so athletic looking. It's hard for me to see her as a sexy dancer when she looks ready to kick someone's butt.
I agree that she is (obviously) athletic and does not have the typical ballroom dancer bod, but I think she looks fantastic out there. I think she's the one everyone would be staring out if there were a few good couples on the dance floor at once. She really works it. And it's nice to see a gal with strength out there. Certainly better than the Barbie-like contestants who are graceful and lean but lacking in everything else.
No one was awful tonight though, IMO. (Though I must admit... I fast forwarded through Leeza's number. She's just a little boring to watch and I had work to do.)

I thought Laila was hot! She certainly had the attitude down and she was working the hip action. She moves really well on the dance floor.
I like Joey as well. He's very entertaining and fun.
Apollo and his partner as so cute together. They make a great pair and I thought their dance was wonderful.

I also thought Laila was hot! She was the ONLY woman of the group to put some movement into her hips. All the rest barely even shimmied. Her voice still IRKS me. She is so pretty, but sounds so masculine. Ugh.
Honorable mention goes to Heather because her routine was definitely one of the most difficult. I still hated the outfit though!
Billy Ray was a big suprise this week! Much improved. I think he may be going home, but I would like to see how much better Karina (gosh, I don't like her, but I *have* to give her props for making him look so much better this week!) can continue to make him.
Overall, I didn't see anyone really do badly, every single person seems to be taking this very seriously this time around.

I started going back to school at night, so now I'm reduced to watching this on TiVo when I catch the time. I just finished watching the result show (watched the dancing when I called off of work yesterday... shhhh), and I was not disappointed. I thought that Paulina was pretty, but she just doesn't have anything to really build on. I don't like Shandi, so it wouldn't have bothered me to see her leave either!
Until Laila performed, I thought Heather's mambo was the best of the ladies... and we all know that I'm not a Heather fan (other than her inspiration to others with physical disabilities). Laila was the only woman who moved her hips, and made me say "wow"! I have been taking ballroom dancing lessons for several months and the "latin motion" is something that I can do on its own, but not while I'm working on getting the steps of the dance down.
I was so impressed with Apolo again, liked Joey and Ian, and was really impressed by the rally of Billy Ray. I still can't stand to look at him, but he really nailed the footwork on the quickstep! I'm still not feeling it from any of the women besides Heather and Laila, or from Clyde or John. Even in the quickstep, I felt like they were moving in slow motion.

When it came down to Paulina and Miss USA, I thought for sure Miss USA was going home. Neither can really dance but I thought Paulina would have received more votes because she's fun and funny while Miss USA is just "blah" (IMO). Oh well. Laila is my favorite. She is really expressive and fun to watch. Of the guys, I think Joey Fatone is actually doing a really great job, and Apolo is doing fairly well. Ian Ziering is also doing well. One thing about Ian... He's a little too sappy for me. I know he's a sweet guy (or so he seems) and I liked when they showed his dad at the rehearsal.
But last night when he was asked about pressure and said "Pressure make diamonds," I almost hurled. Cheesy! ;)

Ian seems like Joey last season, he is such the cheeseball. Although he's yet to be as annoying as Joey, but the season is young. :)
I think Joey is doing a good job, which is what I would expect considering he was a performer who did a lot of dancing in the past. Granted it's not ballroom, but still, if he came out there and sucked I would be shocked. I l-o-v-e Kym. She is so adorable and I'm really happy she's got a good partner this year.
I'm glad Paulina is gone.
I hope the next to go are: Shandi, Leeza, Billy Ray and Clyde (in that order). Clyde's not a horrible dancer but he just doesn't have the charisma that Emmitt had last season.
I predict a Joey/Ian finale.
Did anyone else catch that Apollo's partner is 18?! I was shocked! She doesn't look quite that young.

03-28-2007, 12:13 PM
I'd like to see Shandi and Clyde go next. For some reason, Billy Ray has sort of won me over. That may change if he sucks again next week, though.
I think the final 4 should be Leila, Joey, Ian, and Apollo.

03-28-2007, 12:25 PM
I would have much rather seen Leeza go over Paulina or even Shandi.
My favorites are Leila, Joey and Ian.
And even though i think Heather is a psycho bitch, she's actually impressing me a little. I do think the only reason she's on this show is to gain American fame since not many people know about her here.
Was that Robbie Williams in the audience? I saw Brian Austin Greene - i think he and IZ are still BFFs since the 90210 days.
villanelle75
03-28-2007, 12:40 PM
I have to say that the Heather situation is weird for me. The first week that she danced, they made a big deal about talking about how she didn't' want special consideration because of her leg. But i think she is clearly getting it. What she has done is very, very impressive and shows a lot of resolve and strength. But I the judges were cooing over her on Monday, again, and I am certain much of it was only because of her leg. her dance, for an amputee, was spectacularly impressive, and she is an inspiration. But she has sloppy arms and hands when she dances, her legs, armds, and hands are always bent and messy, and she is not at all graceful. Any other dancer performing that way wouldn't have gotten the comments she did. If they want to hold her up as a great example of what an amputee can do, and of what perseverance can get you, I think that's great. But then don't make a big show of saying you are going to treat her like any other contestant, when you clearly don't.

I can see what you're saying, Villanelle, but I think Heather's mambo was better than any of the other womens' with the obvious exception of Laila. It was far from perfect, but she had more life and pizazz in her routine than Paulina, Shandi, and Leeza!

But she has sloppy arms and hands when she dances, her legs, armds, and hands are always bent and messy, and she is not at all graceful.
Yeah, totally agree. However, I do recall that Len said something about that her first time out - then he praised her again.

I think Apolo is my favorite so far. He's not a spectacular dancer, but they both look like they're having a great time which makes them fun to watch.
However, the most exciting thing about last night's results was listening to Samantha Harris flub her lines! Man, she was saying some crazy stuff! Did anyone catch it? We rewound several times because we couldn't figure out what she was saying. She was constantly slurring words, repeating herself, saying stuff that she clearly wasn't supposed to say. It was absurd! It sounded like she was drinking on the job or something!

Does Ian creep anyone else out? It bugs me the way he keeps rubbing/caressing Cheryl's arm. Dude, the dance is over.
No you're not the only one. He started looking creepy as he got older. He just looks sleazy to me...

I think they get to pick between the two.
I don't think so, I think they are assigned. Some weeks all of the female celebrities get one dance and the male celebrities get another dance, other times it's mixed up. If they got to pick, they might end up with everyone choosing the same dance, which would make the show more boring to watch - one tango after another after another, etc. *shrug*
I really have no idea how it works exactly, but I just really think they are assigned their dances from week to week.

Glad Shandi is gone, such a Barbie doll and a crap dancer. Paulina deserved to go too, though she seemed like a sweetheart.
I think Laila is the top contender currently, Joey, Ian and Apollo are up there as well.
I hope they keep Clyde around a little while. The man is actually quite graceful, just unsure of himself. They should have tried to pair him with a slightly taller partner, the height difference is hurting him and making him hesitant which is the biggest flaw I see in his dancing. Heck, they should keep him on just because he seems so genuinely nice and has the most beautiful smile ever!!!
Add me to the Maksim fan club, hubba hubba and then some.

I had to stay away from this thread all week. I JUST finished watching this week's dance episode today!! And, then to discover that my TiVo didn't record the results show!! I'm glad that Shandi is gone! Whew!
I agree about Billy Ray... I can't stand him, but how endearing is it to watch him counting as he's dancing??
I loved that Leeza got good marks for her Tango, because it was something that I totally recognized! That is the Tango that we've been learning in our dance class for the last 7 months... and usually what we see on the TV barely resembles what we've learned! So, it was nice to see that even the basic techniques done well are rewarded!!
I didn't love Apolo as much this week, just because I didn't like the theme of their dance... but I still love him the best. Joey is such a close second for me, though!! I loved that he danced to Star Wars and that his partner's costume was in tribute to the notorious gold bikini!
I just don't like Clive... he seems like a very sweet, shy guy... but he just doesn't have the spark to sell the dance. He barely does a move, you can't see the dance, because he's so drawn into himself. Dancing is about joy and passion and letting your inhabitions go and letting your body move... and he just isn't letting himself do that.
Laila was just WOW again. And, still against my inner self, I liked Heather.

I thought Kym/Joey's dance was great - lots of fire. Very good. Everybody else's paso dobles were really boring. I was hoping that Laila would bring it, but she was very stiff, unfortunately.

Do you guys find that the music doesn't go with the dance a lot of times? Maybe it's just the band's rendition of the songs? I dunno. The band is awesome, don't get me wrong, but their version of the song Apolo and Julianne danced to was horrible (for example). Their dancing was awesome, but I was so distracted by the song. The dance was supposed to be sexy and I felt the song took away from the sexiness.
Something else I became really annoyed with last night was all of the stars' previous commitments. Don't do the show if you can't do the work! Clyde was HORRIBLE. The man can't dance to begin with, but that was just pitiful. Ditto Billy Ray. Yeah I've been noticing that all season. Some of the songs are just ridiculous. Like Laila and Maksim's song last week. It was weird this week, too. It was hard to think it was a "sexy" dance to that Corinne Bailey Rae song. I've found the music very distracting.
I also think this season is pretty boring. Clyde and Billy ray were just awful last night. John was pretty bad, too. He's like Jerry but with less personality.
Does anyone know how the song selection works? IIRC, the dancers have said something like, "we found out we got xyz song" but at other times it seems that they have picked the song themselves.
villanelle75
04-17-2007, 01:21 PM
I seem to recall reading somethign last year about song selection. IIRC, the article I read said that at the beginning of the season (I think, or maybe it was before each dance), the dancers submit songs that they would like to dance to. Then, the producers see what they can get the rights to. So sometimes, the dancer will get a song that they had requested and hoped for, while other times, either because the producers couldn't get the rights or because they just thought another song would be better, the dancers might get a random song assigned to them.

I don't think she wants special treatment either, but she seems to get it sometimes. She gets these over the top comments about things that maybe others wouldn't because they don't have an artificial leg. She shakes her shimmy a little bit much and does an illegal lift and the judges are all goo goo ga ga.
It annoys me about her that the first 2 weeks or somewhere early in the competition that she and her partner kept choreographing moves where both of her feet left the ground. She almost did it again last night with that little move on the steps. It makes me wonder if she's trying to overcompensate or something.
FTR, I don't dislike Heather. I'm actually indifferent. Don't know much about her to make any kind of judgement either way.
eta: I called the judgeCarrie Ann, Lisa above....my bad. What was I thinking?
I think she should have lost a point because she is in a competition. It doesn't take away from what she can do though. I really didn't like her dance last night. It was too much shimmying and not enough moves.

So what did you all think about Heather's fall? Do you think Lisa should have taken off a point for that?
Definitely. They would have taken points off for anyone else. She could have stood on her good leg and not fallen. It was an unnecessary risk. I know she's trying to be tough and she does a great job, but you wouldn't try to balance on a sprained ankle like that. It just seemed uncalled for. She's been doing so great, I don't know why they did that.

I know I said I kinda like Heather-I should have elaborated. What I meant was that after everything I read about her and her divorce from Paul McCartney, I am surprised that she seems so nice. I didn't mean that I like her dancing. I mean, she's doing a great job, don't get me wrong. She's not one of the best nor is she one of the worst, though.
Anyway, thank God Clyde got the boot. He seems like a nice guy, but he can't dance at all. Is there such a thing as being too tall to be able to dance? If so, that's Clyde's problem.:p And I say this as the wife of a man who is 6'5" and clumsy as all get out!

It was about time they sent Clyde home! While it seemed he was nice and all, he did an awful lot of complaining about what the judges had to say and how much time he had to put into it. Piss poor attitude if you asked me so good riddance. Billy Ray is equally as bad, but at least he puts in the hours to TRY to get better!

I missed last night's episode. On the radio this am, they were talking about some sort of mistake where Samantha announced Laila's score BEFORE the judges even announced it with their cards and she tried to cover it up by saying that she has the results on her pad before the judges announce it??
The DJ's were all saying that it's fixed!
did anyone see this? what exactly happened? I'm going to watch the recap show thing tonight and see if they mention it (although I doubt they will since they'll want to ignore that it happened)

I think it's still a toss-up between Laila, Joey and Apolo... and I'll be happy with any of them, but I'm still sticking with my first choice -Apolo. I don't think Joey has it "in the bag" at all yet. He's done great, but he hasn't fared overall any better than Laila or Apolo, and Apolo has the only perfect score so far in this season! I do love Joey's personality, though. He's just so cute and fun!!
I watched last night's show on TiVo this morning and I didn't see/hear Samantha reveal Laila's score, but she did get flustered in the middle of interviewing Laila and Max and couldn't get back on track and said something like "let's get your scores" out of nowhere. She did give the explanation about seeing the scores on her pad before they're announced though.

I doubt they'll mention because there's really no point. She announced the scores then I guess the producers told her the judges hadn't shown them. She explained that they enter their scores into a system before they actually show them so she can see them.
I don't think it was a big deal. Just a live TV snafu.

I love Apolo. I thought their dance last night was really sexy and intimate, like we were watching something between the two of them. I also like Joey & Laila, but I love Steve Sanders :) The group dance was great, and yummy, we got a closeup of Maks. :D
I did catch Samantha's score goof. It was just after they came back from commercial, and I couldn't figure out if I'd FF'd too fast or what. I have seen the judges writing so maybe they turn in their scores before they reveal them.

They tell her the scores after the judges input them but before they are announced. She accidentally said the total before she threw to the score reveal. They aren't written on her cards - there wouldn't be time to do that.

There is no way that Ian Ziering will make it past #4. I was kind of surprised that he wasn't in the bottom two, although I'm pretty sure that John and Billy Ray will both go before he will. However, watching the recaps, have you noticed Ian's eyes when he's dancing? He seriously looks scary to me... so serious and intense, but not in a concentrating way - a scary way. It really jumped out at me tonight.
I'm TiVo-ing Jimmy Kimmel tonight to see what Heather has to say. She was a big inspiration to so many people, but it was time for her to go. I didn't really warm up to her "if you can't stop eating meat, then go Vegan one day and change the world" speech though! I am bummed that he's Cheryl's partner. It would have been fun to see her win again. But maybe they paired her with him so she wouldn't win. He's not totally craptastic but he won't win either.
I am super annoyed with Billy Ray btw. The Bubba Chicken. Okay ha ha that was funny but this is a dance show. Why do they get docked if they break holds or do lifts but they get 7's for doing a dance that isn't even the jive? It was funny but ridiculous. Give me a couple of drinks and I can do that, too. Just a note... Heather didn't do the Jimmy Kimmel show last night, as she flew straight back out to England after the show. He had a pretty good time poking fun at her in her absence and then did a small bit with Apolo and Julianne.

So annoying but I'm not surprised that she did that (she's not as warm and fuzzy as the show made her out to be--Yes I'm on Team Paul).
They interviewed her on my local radio am show a couple of weeks back. After they got off, the dj said that Heather's people gave them a list of stuff that they can't bring up (divorce, Paul etc). They threatened to hang up on live radio if the djs brought up the taboo items. So the interview was kind of boring.

I wouldn't doubt if it were her "people" that wanted her to be on the show to kind of introduce her to the masses in America who most likely wouldn't know the drama that she's created back home with Sir Paul.
Because, you know, she needs some place to live after she's been run out of England.
I don't watch the show but I read in a rag that Heather was trying to "Fergie" herself into the American public's good graces (since Fergie wasn't exactly beloved in the U.K. either). From the sounds of it, her out-of-place grandstanding isn't exactly the way to people's hearts.

Anybody catch last night's show? My favs were both of Joey's dances, Laila's quickstep (hot) and Apolo's mambo (super hot). I'm not sure how Laila's samba was worthy of a 30. I thought it was very good, but not "30" good. Maybe they gave her a 30 b/c of her Latin dancing improvements.
I think John is doing a good job and is hanging in there nicely. He's taking it seriously and is really putting forth some good effot. Plus I think Edyta is a good teacher and he wants to work hard for her. I have no words for Billy Ray. I'll leave it at that.

I know that John will go (after Billy please), but then it has to be Ian. He did *better* this week, but I still just can't warm up to him at all. His dancing does nothing for me.

I liked both of Joey's dances and Ian's 2nd dance was SOOOO much better! He seems to relax more into it and not focusing on trying so hard.
Laila, I knew she would get a 30 as soon as she started moving. Her arms don't look much like a pro dancer, but her hip movement! Man, she can shake them! I just wish that Maks would put more fun into the performance. Like add some drama or tell a story like the others do. But this week, He simply had no class. His initial comments were bad enough, but to bring it up again after the second dance was childish and made him look really bad.
I do think that he got a couple extra points (particularly from Bruno) one his secodn dance becuase they felt bad about his reaction to the first one. They gave him 7's and they gave Ian's first dance a 7 as well, IIRC. Not even in the same realm!

Well, first he went up to Ali to shake his hand. Then he made a boxing gesture at him which was sort of tacky. Then he did the boxing thing again a few minutes later. Like a little kid who had too much sugar. Also, Bruno said that his dance was crap but apparently he took it that HE was crap so he was acting really rude backstage and said something to the effect of that's the pot calling the kettle black. I think they're still dating but just not engaged...I don't know, but I guess the wedding isn't happening in August.
Yes I read it in this week's People Mag. They called off the wedding and she said they need time to be together.
What is really telling (and I'm not trying to stir anything) is that when my local radio interviewed Apolo, they raved about his & Julianne's chemistry and asked if he's interested in her. Instead of saying oh she's engaged to be married (which was already a known fact in the press) he just kinda skirted away from answering the question. Could it be?

Hmm...interesting. I agree, they dance great together. If I was a guy I'd think she would be hot...I mean, her body is awesome. I wonder if I should take up dancing????

Didn't they always talk about how they had a "brother-sister" thing going? And he had a hard time doing the sexy Rumba with her because of their "brother-sister" thing. Maybe that was all a ruse...
Dancing's Julianne Hough Postpones Her Wedding

Julianne Hough is a master at the quickstep on Dancing with the Stars – but she's taking her romance slow.
Hough, 18, who is Apolo Ohno's partner on the reality show, has postponed her planned Aug. 8 wedding to former dancer Zach Wilson.
So does that mean she's free to date (say ... a certain sexy speed skater)? "No!" Hough tells PEOPLE. "[Zach and I] are still together. We just want [more time] before we get married. It's all good!"
The couple had planned to tie the knot in Mormon ceremony in Utah this summer. But Hough says she's so busy with the show that they decided to take some time.
For now, Hough is concentrating on Dancing as the competition heats up. After Billy Ray Cyrus was booted from the show on Tuesday, Hough wiped away tears and said: "It gets harder as all these people leave."
The end of the engagement was first reported by TV's Extra.

Here's my DWTS question. Every year they have had only 2 couples in the finals. What's up with 3 couples being in the finals this year? I thought I had heard wrong until they said tonight that one would be voted off this week, then next week the remaining 3 dancers will dance for the mirror ball trophy, which will be awarded Tuesday night....

I hate to see Cheryl go but I think she will next week. Ian just isn't the greatest. I would like to see Joey and Kym win, I really like her.

I'm pretty sure Cheryl will be the one leaving this time because Ian just doesn't have Emmit & Drew's charisma. His dancing is also labored. There isn't a sense of joy when he dances (I know Cheryl can't do much about that).
I'm pulling for Apolo & Julianne. My second choice would be Max (love him!) & Laila. Not a fan of Joey's ham dancing.

I think Apolo and Julianne deserved a 30 on their last dance! The crowd loved it. I was so angry with Len that I actually voted this time and gave all 5 of my votes to them!
As much as I was pulling for Ian in the beginning because of 90210, I'll be okay with him leaving tonight. It's funny because Ian seems so serious but when I look at him I think of him as being Steve Sanders and not so serious. He and Cheryl did well though and I'm glad they made it as far as they did!,
I'm rooting for Apolo and Julianne to win. Layla is good but there is something about the chemistry with Apolo and Julianne that makes me root for them.
I'm sad that the finale is coming up! It seems like the show just started!

I would like to see them in them finale too. Joey has done a couple dances that I liked but over all I like Laila & Apolo (& Max) better.
I also really don't want to see Cheryl win again. I like her with a Drew and didn't watch much last season but she doesn't really seem to care for Ian as well.

I'll be happy if Apolo or Joey win but I really have a soft spot for Joey. I think he's fantastic.

I am also torn between Apolo and Joey...I LOVE watching Joey and I think he definitely pushes himself really hard -- if you look at his body, the guy is hardly an athlete, but he pulls off some seriously impressive moves, like the jump-split thingee last night. Plus, he just looks like a big sweetheart.
At the same time, I relaly enjoy Apolo and Julianne, and it does seem like Len has it in for them. I didn't think it was fair at all that he docked them a point for raunchiness... 1) the dancing really wasn't, even if the song was, and 2) it's not like Apolo choreographed it. And look at the audience's reaction! I think they got robbed there.
I have also come to the conclusion that I am way too involved in this! :o

I had a hard time voting because I like all four of them. Mostly rooting for Apolo though, but at this point any of them could win and I'd be happy.

I still haven't been able to watch the entire show from last night, but I was able to watch Apolo's first dance and VOTE four times before I had to leave again. I hope I can manage to stay up late enough to watch everything after I get home tonight.
My first post (#2 in this thread) was to support Apolo and I'm so excited that he's really got what it takes to take it all the way! I'm NOT, however, jumping on the Apolo & Julianne relationship bandwagon. I think that they've gotten to be really close having to train so much during the last 12 weeks or so, but I don't think they're involved.

I was so annoyed with Len for giving Apolo a 9 on their second dance that I couldn't enjoy the rest of the dances. I have never voted for any type of reality show contest, but if I had watched last night instead of my recording this afternoon, I would have voted a bunch for Apolo.

Man, I was sweating it at the end of last night's show!! I definately think that the final is going to be amazing next week and that the right people are in it. Laila, Apolo and Joey are just amazing... still routing for Apolo!! :D
I actually thought that Laila's first dance (Walk Like an Egyptian) had something wrong with it... it just seemed "eh" to me after the first 15-20 seconds. It's going to be hard next week... I'm going to have to vote from all of my phone numbers!!

I did, too. I thought it was kind of clumsy or something, I don't know.
SO glad Ian went home. I was a little worried there when it was just Apolo and Ian, because it was possible that Ian had more of a TV following...

I liked Ian and was glad that he improved and got his first 10's. But it was his time.
Tuesday's show was great. It was cool see Len dance and show the dancers a few of his steps. But he seems to be so cranky sometimes. I was so ticked that he took off a point from Apolo and Julianne b/c he thought it was too raunchy.
Everyone did a great job the other night.

Our finalists were on Larry King Live last night. No new revelations, but it was fun to watch anyway.
I've decided that it won't bother me if either of the boys wins, but I really really really want Apolo to win! I think Joey is great and fun and flashy, but I think Apolo is a more graceful and clean dancer. I like Laila, and I certainly think that she deserves to be in the finals, but I just don't think that she's better than the two boys.
This season has gone by so fast... I'm not ready for it to be over!!

Definitely pulling for Apolo. He and Julianne are great dancers. Honestly, I would rather have seen Ian continue on rather than Laila. At least Ian and Joey brought a few new steps each week. Maks and Laila seem to be stuck on the same dance and it always includes the butterfly. That is getting quite old.

I love, love, love Apolo!!! I voted for him as much as I could!
I have to give Joey props for the freestyle. I thought it was excellent. I hope he gets second.
It irritates the pants off of me that they judge Laila so easily. Her arms are horrible and her feet are even worse. If any of the guys made that many technical flaws in a routine (I'm referring more to last week's routines and the first one tonight), there is no WAY they would be given 10s. I am so glad she didn't get a 10 for the freestyle.
Go Apolo!!!

Man, I was so bummed last night when I found out that it was at 8:00 instead of 9:00, because I didn't get home from school until 10:00 and then it was too late to vote!! Darn it!!
I agree that Laila's first performance was not very good tonight and I was REALLY suprised that she got two 10's for it! The boys were certainly judged hard, that I'm suprised that Laila wasn't as well.
I'm SO happy that Apolo got a perfect score on his freestyle. I hope everyone else's votes bring him home tonight. I'm super excited to see my man, Emmitt, tonight, too!!

What were they talking about when they said the dancers have to be judged again tonight? I thought this was the finale.
I was pretty disappointed in Laila's freestyle. Unfortunately, Maksim wasn't going to be able to fling her around like the others but I thought their freestyle didn't look like anything special. Apolo's was good but I still liked Joey and Kym the best.

LOL!! I'm just getting this funny visual of Maks trying to throw Laila up in the air or hoist her up over his head. Hee Hee :D
