DH is forcing me to go skiing this weekend. I am miserable about it, but at least I get to pick the restaurant. Where should we eat? It needs to be nice enough to make it up to me for a horrible day. Doesn't need to be expensive, or fancy, it doesn't matter what sort of cuisine (except not Mexican or Pizza) but the food needs to be really really good.
TIA!

Dh and I are going to Lake Tahoe in two weeks for skiing (we haven't been in years). Our favorite place to eat is the Lone Eagle Grill in Incline Village. It has a beautiful view of the lake and is located on the shores. We've never had a bad meal there and it's not really fancy. I love the decor and I love sitting by the huge fireplaces.

Are you going to be in North or South Tahoe?
I don't have many recommendations for stellar dining in North Lake Tahoe (we only stay there when we're going up with a group, and bring our own shabu-shabu - yum!), but I agree with [b]allison[/b[, Lone Eagle Grill in Incline Village (at the Hyatt) is yummy! We've been there several times.
In South Lake:
. Scusa on Ski Run Blvd. (Italian) -- small, cute restaurant, good food. Probably my favorite restaurant in South Lake. Reservations recommended.
. I've heard several good things about Fire and Ice (http://www.fire-ice.com/index.html) at the (not so) new Marriott - all you can eat Mongolian BBQ, but I haven't been there myself. I think there are several new restaurants at the Marriott that are all supposed to be pretty decent.
. We also frequently end up at The Brewery - pub food, nothing too special, but good.

I have no recommendations for Tahoe (I've been exactly once, and we stayed at a campground for a wedding. My idea of camping is hotels without room service, so that was interesting.), but I had to say that the good things about Fire and Ice may be greatly exaggerated. We have a couple here (they are a chain), and they are pretty nasty--gimmicky "dining" at its worst. Well, not worst...but not good. The one in Tahoe may be infinitely better, of course. If any CCers have been in person I'd be happy to defer to their recommendations, but I've heard people recommend the ones here as well so I had to speak up.
