Did Tyra look like she had a big bubble head with dried seaweed hanging off it last night....or was that just me?? :confused:

LOL! Perfect, too perfect. :D :D :D

I was glad to see Dionne go - but I kind of disagree with what the judges have been saying all along after seeing all of her photos last night as she left. I think she looks STRONG not angry. And some of her shots were pretty - there is just not really a softness in her face when she is taking photos. I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous when she was packing up her things and crying - I guess that is what is missing from the modeling world for me, the emotion of real life.

Jaslene has very odd proportions. I think the girls don't get Natasha and there are some jealousy issues. I think Renee takes amazing photos, just not sure they are strong enough to win it but her drive could carry her through.

First of all, I think Dionne sucks. Her pictures are totally without emotion. Beautiful girl--lame model.

How soon Renee forgot what it feels like to be ganged up on --beyotch. Natasha's a little off, sure, but she always seems to be nice to everyone in the house. Now that my girl crazy Brit ios gone, I hope Natasha takes it.

ITA with everything you said about Dionne. After looking at her portfolio after she got the boot, I was thinking that her pics didn't look angry but "not soft". But it was indeed time for her to go.

~~~~
What in the ham sandwich hell was Natasha doing with that dance/acting thingy? She was a hot mess. No one could hear her and she just looked plain silly. Jaslene's performance was nuts too. She was talking in circles and really said nothing. I thought Dionne and Renee were both pretty good.
Natasha sucked ass on her photo shoot. Sick or not, she could have done a smidgen better. She really just didn't give any effort. I can remember a few girls and only Danielle's name comes to mind who were really sick and pulled off fierce photo shoots. Hell, Danielle was in the hospital and rocked it on that elephant in the middle of nowhere. So Natasha lost a few "cool points" with that debacle.
The girls really played themselves by ragging on Natasha like that. I guess they didn't want to say anything each other and Natasha was the only one that was left, but I thought they were a bit hard on her and jealousy played a huge role in what they said. Suckas....
To me Renee is a prettier and a bit younger Melrose from last season - which is why I don't think she will win. Nigel said it last night - not the freshest face. That's why Natasha or Jas have a better shot.
And I am really tired of that beige shirt-no bra wearing-lace thingie renee wears all the time in the video one on ones.
Natasha SUCKED last night, man. I could NOT believe how bad she was.
I have to give Natasha credit. She took the criticism well, better than most of the other 3 would have. When she was asked who would be the best, she gave good modeling reasons, such as her look. The others talked about their drive and desire, but not skill. When they were talking the least likely, they mentioned her personality. Umm Naomi Campbell seems to have some personality flaws, but she's still a supermodel.
Whenever they get really nice prizes like they got last night all I can still think about is that hideous trophey with the gold spray painted shoe on top!
I think that Natasha tried really hard with her 'dance'. She used the same props that the other girls used and a lot of the same movements which to me meant she was really watching them. She had a good idea about speaking softly to get people to lean in but that is really hard to do outdoors. I think that if she would have spoken up and told a story that made a bit more sense she could have won that challenge.
I am really glad that she stuck around. Her body of work was a bit better than Dionne's.
I can't see Renee wining it all because she is too similar to CariDee - light hair and skin. I see them wanting to mix it up but gosh I just can't get over Jaslene's manly drag queen face but she does have a body that wears clothes well and may do really well during a 'walk-off'. I expect that she would be the best in runway shows. Natasha would loose if it came down to the runway as her walk and height will get in the way.
I forgot to mention the whole "who has the most potential" judging question.
When Tyra 1st asked Dionne, she said to critique her competition - not to say who out of the 4 of them would make the best ANTM. So I thought it was unfair of them to knock her for not saying herself. Then when she asked the other 3, she said "who out of all of you" which includes themselves. Trickery, i say....trickery.....
I'm not sad to see Dionne go. She had a bad attitude. Every single competion they did and every single photo shoot, that girl was dissing and had nothing positive to say - and it was getting old!
Her pics were blah and she hadnt grown at all....I really didnt feel like she cared to win, loose or stay or anything!
I like Natasha, I think her attitude is so compelling....if only everyone was so optomistic in life! But man, she royally sucked in that photo shoot. I'm actually surprised Jay was so nice to her, because she just looked so sour, it was unreal!
I don't think any of the girls left are top quality. Maybe Natasha, but I don't know if Cover Girl would want her with such a thick accent. Honestly, do any of the girls from the show, including winners, even have much of a career? I know a few do model, but I never hear of them.
That was Adrienne's complaint too. I think out of everyone Eva has the most lucrative career of the winners (funny considering she's 5'7"). I know Elyse from season 1 has a pretty successful career in Hong Kong but I wouldn't call anyone "top model".
05-11-2007, 04:20 PM
They are all too old to start their careers, I think is part of the problem. Most "top models" these days are plucked from high scool at 14 or 15, and make it big by the time they are 19 or 20.
Ugh. I am not happy with the winner.
I was very surprised when during the final judging they asked if Jaslene had the ability to "be commercial." Every other season they frown on being commercial and now it is a good quality? I understand they are modeling for Cover Girl, but every other season I have gotten the vibe that girls who are "commercial" can't be top models.
Anyways, I was very disappointed.
ITA! I haven't cared for her since day 1 and I still don't like her as a model. She looks like a dragqueen when her photos aren't touched up and when I think of Cover Girl, I don't think of her. To be honest, I didn't care for any of the F3, but I would have picked Natasha.
Next season they should lower the age and get some younger models in. I know that would mean no alcohol in the house, but at least there'd be a chance of someone with model potential winning.
I think the past winners have been doing a lot more as far as runway shows than print ads, so I think jaslnee has the better look for runway.
I also don't think that starting out into the modeling business is the right choice for a new mom - it's a hard, fast-paced, tiring career and you can't drag your kid along with you, it just doesnt work!
I am actually okay with the winner this time. No one really stood out for me (except Brittany, and it turned out she was a little too cuckoo), but I think Jaslene was the most model-y of the finalists. She was slightly strange looking in person but took great pictures, and her body was too scary-thin for words; both of those things equal model for me. I think she'll do just fine.
And, she showed a great deal of savviness when she lapsed into Spanish during her commercial. Maybe she just panicked, but it showed she could easily work in the growing Spanish-language arena of American advertising. I'm sure that was encouraging to the sponsors (who no doubt have a lot of pull in deciding the winner).
It was really sad at the end to compare Renee's photos to Natasha's; it was clear the Renee was better. But, Caridee was blonde and I stick by my theory that they will not pick a similar model from season to season. I'm looking for a redhead to win next cycle.
I agree with everyone else -- they need to include some younger models in the competition...at least a few more 18/19 year olds. Otherwise it is just cruel.
Ditto...I didn't necessarily have a favorite this whole season, so whoever won would not have mattered to me. I guess I had more people that I didn't care for. I will say that I like Jaslene as a winner better than Caridee. Actually, for some reason, I just didn't like last season at all anyway.
I was quite surprised though that Jaslene won. Tyra and the judges were on Natasha's tip the whole season, so I thought she had it in the bag. But when I think about some of the ethnic models on the runway today, Jaslene fits right in. She has very strong features, very thin and a pretty strong walk when she's on her game.
~~~~
About last night's show, what happened to Natasha at the runway show? She kinda lost it midway didn't she? It was almost like she had an attitude during the final walk? One thing about her is that she doesn't hide her emotions very well even when she has to work.

The thing about Natasha, is when she's sick or tired, she just doesn't even *try* to look like it's not bothering her. That was pretty evident with the photo shoot from last week. And we know that's a HUGE no no on ANTM.

You are completely correct, but out of all of the girls this cycle, only two were under 20 years old, and one of them was 24. I am sure that there are lots of liability issues with working with underage girls, but I don't think it is fair for Tyra and company to choose older women and then fault them for looking old. Especially since they seem to be going for girls with troubled or difficult backgrounds (Tyra loves it when they tell her how much she is changing their lives :rolleyes: ). Of course you are going to look older if you have a lot of life experience.

I've got to say that was one of the best ANTM finales of all time...you really had no freakin clue who was going to be the winner at all! What a great season. I can't wait for next season to start up.

I really came to like Natasha by the end, but it was scary how she always looked like crap on a stick at the judgings.
OMG are you right on that! Which is why their CLEAR favoratism for her was bugging me: they brow-beat Dionne for looking too "mall walker" when she was at judgement, yet Natasha looked like a ratty-haired $2 whore half the time!!

I'm not shocked that Jaslene won. I just didn't want her too. DH actually fell asleep, and later asked me who one. I said (in the exaggerated accent) "Jazleeeen". He says to me:
"That's the drag-queen-looking one, right?". LOL!

I do feel bad for Renee. She was the prettiest, had the best pics, the best commercial, the most drive, the best body...and yet they can her for looking too old. Well if she looked too old why the hell did you bring her in? Why did you let her make it to the final 3?? UGH! Annoying!

And since we're over-thinking a fluffy reality show :D , I have a few thoughts:

1. It is very difficult to be "Top Model" and commercial at the same time! Which is why the whole Cover Girl aspect is a little odd to me. CGs are fresh-faced, feminine-looking, often even curvy. But runway/print models are mostly unique/androgenous/quirky-looking & painfully thin. Not to mention, for a CG you need someone who can speak eloquently and be a representative for the company in face-to-face situations. So to find the perfect match for both is almost impossible (though IMO I think Yoanna came closest - I love that she won her season!!).

2. Why do they let women on the show who are in their 20's if they are going to bash them for looking old (ie: like a 20's-year-old)?? If its because they want to be able to keep alcohol in the house to ignite some reality-show drama, then that's just stupid. Real models start very young. If they want to do this right, they need to bring in a slew of 15-19 year olds, deal with the immaturity and lock up the alcohol.

I agree that they shouldn't have let some folks in knowing they have a "flaw" and then cut them weeks later for that flaw. They do it with height in almost every season. Now they did it with age. If they didn't realize it before casting, okay (like "wow, she's a huge crybaby" with Brit) but cutting Renee because of her overall look? Um, it's been there since the beginning. Honestly if they cut Natasha, you'd hear the same kind of thing "we're worried about your accent". Um, you know, something that has existed since casting.

I wish one year CG would make a real commercial with the top model who wins. Instead we only see the cheesy commercials during ANTM (and then they always air a REAL CG commercial right after). I guess that tells you the calliber of model Tyra's giving them, eh?

They also never run the winners in any of the CG print ads (besides the challenge one). If the winner was the cream of the crop, you would think CG would have her in rotation in the print ads.

Yeah, Tyra! If you had a baby NINE months ago, were too poor to eat, desperate for money, and struggling to do anything you can to help your family - like leaving them behind while you tried your chance at winning some stupid modeling competitiion - you would look older too.

Well Renee can sell the jewelry she won (at one of the most recent competitions?) to give herself some money. I remember at one of the early competitions she was upset she didn't win because she wanted the prize so she could sell it.

It definitely looks like you can definitely have a career, but more as a personality rather than a model. Probably the most funny line is from Joanie on whether the show helped or hurt the modeling career:

I’d say it hurt. You’re always known as “the girl from the reality show.” Clients don’t want to see that crap in your book, or you will have to prove yourself otherwise.

Har.

Brooke said (on whether she'd suggest trying out for ANTM to get a chance in the business):

If its a modeling career you want, don't apply for ANTM. Go straight to your local agency and start there. ANTM is great for exposure, but I recommend doing it the right way. If you're going to apply for Top Model, be loud! Have a huge personality. It's characters that they want - not necessarily models.....Top Model was a wonderful chance to get my name out there, and make some powerful connections in the entertainment industry. Those kinds of things are invaluable. But did the show set me up to be the next Daria or Caroline? Not so much.

Double har.

Currently, Dani is in a CG commercial with Queen Latifah.

Do you have a link? All I found was her "This is my life..." commercials which never play anytime other than during ANTM.

A few weeks back I was watching a marathon of Cycle 2 (that's the one Yoanna won, right?). After the marathon they did a "where are they now?" show. Well none of the girls seemed to be very far. I had to laugh, though, when Camille (that cycle's "bitch") said that ever since ANTM she has started taking a bodyguard with her when she goes out with friends.

I am guessing she just needs protection from all of the viewers who approach her to tell her what a bitch she was!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was really disappointed with the outcome of this season. I haven't been this annoyed since Naima won!

Let's be honest, none of these girls are going to be top models. But of the three finalists I really think Renee should have been the winner. She was the most classically attractive and consistently took the best photos.

Natasha just didn't do it for me. Every now and then she'd bust out a good photo, but the rest of the time I thought she looked squinty and off kilter.

Jaslene-- I keep thinking of Mike Myers saying, "She's a man, baby!"

I think we just have to accept that this show is more about personality than real model potential.

Did anyone read last month's Vogue, where they profiled some of their favorite up-and-coming models? That was a great feature. If you missed it, here's the link to the story & photos (http://www.style.com/vogue/feature/041607).

I think if Jaslene would get some work done on her jaw she would look a lot more feminine. Are models allowed to have "work"?

I don't think she get her jaw "worked" on. I mean, they'd have to shave off bone in order to change the shape of it. There's no way that I know of that they could make her jaw less prominent through surgery.

"I Definitely Should Have Won!" – An Interview with America's Next Top Model 8's Renee (http://www.realitynewsonline.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl?mode=1&article=article10109.art&page=1)

RNO: What did you think of the judges final critiques? Do you think your elimination was justifiable from their perspective?

Renee: I found it laughable. It really didn’t make any sense. They were the ones that cast me, so I just don’t get how they could say I photographed old. They weren’t wearing a blindfold when I applied for the show, when I was in LA and throughout the rest of the competition. So for them to say that I looked old when I’m in the final three, just to send me home, doesn’t make much sense to me. I definitely should have won.

RNO: You always seemed so friendly with Jaslene, but when you were eliminated, you showed your support for Natasha. Is that who you really wanted to win, especially considering you said you wanted her gone last week when you were at the club?

Renee: Oh, I wanted Natasha gone from the beginning. I don’t think she’s a model and I don’t think she ever will be one. She simply won’t be able to do it. The support that I showed her was just basically the common ground that we shared of both being moms. She was having a really rough two weeks, with her almost-elimination and the rest of us girls coming down on her.

Gee, Renee, bitter much? The article says she's going to LA to become a movie star. I hope she's not going to do playboy next!:rolleyes:

Those official Jasleen photos are not nice. She looks like a man!

Those portfolio shots of Jaslene up above look like the kind of crap I'd take and post on myspace as a profile photo...."man-woman, looking for other men, must like the cha-cha"...

You all will either appreciate this or think I am totally nuts.

Two nights ago I had a very vidid dream that *I* was on ANTM, and was cut pretty early. I found out about my being cut before the elimination, and was LIVID. I was yelling at all the judges, stating my case, telling them they had no idea what they were doing. :o

BTW: I didn't realize that Elite took on drag queens. :confused: ;)

Here's some interesting info. I was reading the FORT and it seems that there was a taping of the next ANTM season on a Royal Carribbean ship back in May. The FORT interviewed a member who was a guest on the ship and she also has some pics. I also found the link to the Cruise Critic message boards thread where passengers who were on the ship were expressing their concerns and gripes. Please beware that there are possible spoilers.

Thanks, Adaya! I did not read all of the posts, but checked out the pics. I cannot wait for the next season. Any idea when it starts? Hopefully we don't have to wait until fall.
