I admit, I used to hate NFL football. However when I met DH, he made it quite clear that he lived, breathed and slept Green Bay Packer football. My 7 year old DD is now just as big of a fan as DH is and football is an all consuming family fun time. The season starts Sept 8th which is just weeks away so I thought I'd start this thread now that we have a sports forum.

Who is your team??

HELL YEAH! I so love the NFL. I'm addicted. Sundays are a major holiday in our house.

The Pack? I am *ahem* a Bears fan. One day, we will regain the glory of the mid-80s...but for now, its good to have a good team in our conference. (I can't bring myself to root for the Vikings!).

I LOVE football. As a kid I used to spend every Sunday watching the NY Giants games with my dad (we HATED the Buffalo Bills). Well now I live in Buffalo. The Giants are still my favorite team but I don't hate the Bills any more. I actually enjoy going to their games. DH is a HUGE Buffalo Bills fan. I will root for the Bills as long as they aren't playing the Giants. :D

I LOVE football. I grew up a Cleveland Browns fan, but now I'm more of a fan of any of my Buckeyes in the NFL regardless of team. I still root for the Browns, but as long as there is football on Saturday and Sunday, I'm happy.

This is how I feel, too. We love going out to sports bars to watch games. It is one of the reason's DH fell in love w/ me (we met in football season). I grew up a Dallas Cowboy's fan, and I'll still cheer for them. Now, I'm also a Titans and Panthers fans due to their location.

Love love love football! I don't have a favorite team though.

I grew up in Illinois and will always root for da Bears. But now I live in Wisconsin and am constantly bombarded with Packer news. I cheer for both teams, but when they play each other I'm rooting for the good guys (aka the Bears) :D

DH and I love football season. We watch in Thursday through Sunday. Although, after awhile I do get sick of the non-Sunday/Monday games.

I'm a Kansas City Chiefs fan, and I'm really excited about the upcoming season! I think we're gonna be awesome this year! I can't wait to see what we can do. :D

I love me some Tony Gonzales. He's one of my pretend boyfriends. ;) :)

I LOVE football! I didn't until about 3 yrs ago. I got so sick of my DH watching it on Sundays, that I decided to join him. :p My favorite team are the Raiders. Since I live in NY, their games are never aired on TV so we get NFL Ticket. This will be the 3rd year and I have to say that for a football fan it is worth the cost.

Last year, I joined a fanasty league (just picking who is going to win - not players) with a couple of WC girls. Would anyone be interested in doing that this year? It is so simple. Just pick who you think is going to win each game. There is no prize but bragging rights. :D It is so much fun. Anyway if anyone is interested, I will set up a team and either e-mail or PM you the information.

I've grown up with football, and have loved it since I can remember! Our first date was actually to a sports bar to watch a dolphins/jets game! ;)

Anyway, I have forever been a Miami Dolphin fan (no speaking of Ricky please, I'm sick of it/him already), and am now almost as big of a Texans fan. It's *very* weird for me to have two favorite teams, and especially 2 that are in the AFC, but I just can't help it. The Texans (and David Carr....mmmmm) are just too exciting to me.

I also like the Steelers (when not playing the Texans or competing for a top spot) and the Packers (my one NFC team). Those two teams are mostly for players that I like, though.

HUGE NFL fan here.

Actually, I am an even bigger COLTS fan...

and an even BIGGER Peyton Manning fan! :D

My sister and I share our love of the Colts. My husband tolerates them but his true love is the Redskins. In 2004, we went on the road to follow the Colts through 2 of their playoff games. I was five months pregnant and drove 8 hours each way to Kansas City for a football game. Fortunately, we won that one. Last year, my sister surprised me and my dad with Colts tickets on the day after Christmas. It looked like certain defeat - and then Peyton led the charge, broke the single season TD record and won the game. BEST.GAME.EVER. Total euphoria in that stadium.

Needless to say, both teams keep breaking our hearts, but last year was especially painful for me. So close and yet...so far. Damn Pats. (I actually do like the Patriots, when they're not in contention with my team).

This is our year - it has to be. Next year we will probably lose Edgerrin James and the offseason has already weakened our team. Fingers crossed!

I'd love to join a fantasy league (either picking players, or just picking winners). I'm currently in 2 leagues (picking players) one my husband sets up, and a work one. There's always room for one more!

I think Randy Moss is funny, but he isn't on a team that I'm all about or against. DH can't stand him!

Speaking of attention-getting players, how about TO? (he's another one that i think is funny) is it just to have football news that ESPN/sports reporting is obsessed about that situation. i mean, give me a break and stop talking about until something actually happens. it is ridiculous how they continue to speculate back and forth over something (the situation) that is over-rated.

Another NFL lover here! My team is The New Orleans Saints!

I must admit I am and have been a Ricky Williams fan ever since his days playing for Texas and then he was drafted by my team. Last year when he quit I stuck by him and still haven't given up that he is a decent guy. Though I do think he's coming back at least partly because of money.

In an interview today he said, "There were some things in life I wanted to explore outside of football. I realize making the decision to walk away from football affected the team in a negative way.

I realize I hurt the team and the fans and am very regretful that people were hurt in the process. I can see how leaving the team to experience things outside of football came off as being selfish, so I offer an apology to all the people that were negatively affected by my decision.

I wasn't comfortable with being an NFL player," Williams said. "I've had a problem with some of the (NFL) rules. But I've learned a lot in the last year.

"I had a different concept about freedom. I used to think freedom was doing what you wanted whenever you wanted. Freedom having the strength to be in any situation and be content. I see this as a great opportunity to work on that."

Williams decided to return to the NFL last February after an arbitrator ruled that he owed the Dolphins more than 8.6 million dollars in incentives and signing bonus money. He also has three children to support.

"I have that settlement chasing me," Williams said. "I can't say that didn't play into my decision."

I love randy moss! Yes, he can be a total idiot, but if he can catch balls and score lots of touchdowns for my team, who the heck cares? ;)

ardathpaige - I totally agree with you on the TO thing. Give it up already! TO is definately an idiot, which was proven with all the trading hooplah from last season. The fact that he's giving the eagles hell after all they went through to get him is ridiculous. Dude, you're getting old, and just coming back from a broken ankle. Give it up! But that's my MHO

Kelly - Ricky is probably just back for the money, like ardathpaige said. He is back in the league, but is suspended from playing in the first 4 games because of the drug thing.

I love the fact that there are so many different teams that people like in here!!

I went to college at Virginia Tech & we had a great run while I was there so that deepend my enthusiasm for the sport. Hi Katie!
Go Vikes! Go U of M! :)

To answer your question - I worked for The Vikings first as a summer intern in the PR department. (this was in 1994.) I did just about everything that our PR people did and also helped with training camp happenings etc. It was a very busy job! So much goes into training camp - I barely got any sleep at all! But it was fun! :D

6 years later, when I had moved back to the Twin Cities and was in graduate school (it pays to keep in touch with old friends, heh heh) I worked for them on game days as a 'press box' assistant and 'press conference' aide for Dennis Green. Coach Green and I had kept in touch since my internship so it was fun re-connecting with him and everyone else there. The Vikings are a great organization full of hard-working, dedicated people. I had so much fun working with them! I decided to change careers and end my professional interest in the NFL, but I'll always have the best memories of my days there!

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Reuters) - Oakland Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon is retiring after 18 season in the NFL to become a television analyst.

Gannon, 40 in December, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune he would officially retire on Saturday August 6 in Oakland.

"I want to stay involved and continue to do what I do," Gannon said. "That's look at film, break down opponents, analyze players and look at tendencies. Hopefully, I'll be able to bring that insight and perspective to fans at home."

Gannon's playing career essentially ended last season when he broke a vertebra in his neck.

"When I suffered the broken neck, the decision was made for me," Gannon said. "It wasn't a situation where I would be able to play anymore. But I have no regrets."

Gannon has been with the Raiders since 1999. He was the NFL MVP in 2002 when he led Oakland to the Super Bowl.

He also played for Minnesota, Washington and Kansas City during his career, finishing with 28,743 yards passing and 180 touchdowns.

I knew he wasn't going to come back around that crazy fall. Did anyone see it last year? I am surprised he could still walk.

scrappy
07-29-2005, 12:29 PM
Kelly - Poor Gannon. Can't blame the guy though. 40 is a pretty impressive age for a QB to retire though. I agree with you on that hit. I was actually there at that game and saw him get hit right in front of me (well, he was across the field, but we were situated approximately on the same yardline as the hit). Looked horrible :(

I'm a born and bred Bears fan, however DH is a die hard Colts fanatic, so I had to convert. This is our second year of having Colts season tickets. They were DH's wedding gift from me, and they'll be his anniversary present for however long he decides to keep them. We have a good time, although I admit, I still don't always know what's going on. Did you hear that Jim Kelly's son died? Kelly was the QB for the Bills. Here is the article from yahoo:

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Hunter Kelly, whose battle with a fatal nervous system disease inspired his Hall of Fame father Jim Kelly's charitable works, died Friday morning. He was 8.

"Our prayers go to the family and kids," Jim Kelly's brother, Dan, told The Associated Press.

Born in 1997, Hunter Kelly was given no more than three years to live after being diagnosed with Krabbe Disease, an inherited degenerative disorder of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The disease hinders development of the myelin sheath, a fatty covering that protects the brain's nerve fibers.

In honor of their son, Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, established the Hunter's Hope Foundation in 1997, which has raised more than $6 million and awarded more than $3.8 million to leukodystrophy and other neurological disease-related research.

The disease has no known cure.

Jim Kelly, who won an unprecedented four straight AFC titles as the Bills' quarterback in the early 1990s, had credited his son for serving as his inspiration after he retired from football following the 1996 season.

"He'll never be able to do what daddy did," Kelly said last year. "But he's going to do greater things. He's going to make a difference in kids' lives. He already has."

Kelly and his son happened to share the same birthday, Valentine's Day.

The Kelly family was preparing to issue a press release later in the day, Dan Kelly said.

It is so sad when you hear things like this.

I can't wait for the NFL season to begin!!! I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!

Since my dad is from Texas, I was brainwashed as a small child to be a Dallas Cowboy fan. I've remained a fan through good seasons and bad seasons...unfortunately there have been a lot of bad ones lately :( but I will continue to cheer for my team. I'm hoping Drew Bledsoe can do a little better at the QB position than Vinny did last year.

My second favorite team to cheer for is the Baltimore Ravens because they tend to have kick a$$ defense...Ed Reed is an ANIMAL!!! I'm going to a Ravens vs. Redskins scrimmage tomorrow so I hope catch a glimpse of him :D

So where else in the NFL would you find a sold out scrimmage between two teams than in Green Bay? NOWHERE!

That's right. There's a scrimmage between the Pack and the Bills in GB tonight, and there's not an empty seat in the house! It's on right now, but I've gotta say that it's kinda boring to watch...but I love the Pack!

I love me some PATRIOTS football! It’s my favorite season. DH and I used to go to all the home games when we were back in MA and I really miss that, but we get the NFL Sunday Ticket so we don’t miss anything on Sundays.

DH just called and told me that he got his one set of football tickets for the year from work....and they are for this Saturday's preseason game against Cleaveland. I'm a diehard Cheesehead, but football is football, right?? LOL
Perhaps I will try to get us tickets to opening day which is...you guessed it against GB!! The last time I went to an NFL game was on Thanksgiving 03 when we played GB, and by some fluke...Detroit won!! :( Well, not really a fluke since we almost always win on Thanksgiving, but I thought that perhaps this one time since it was against my faves that Detroit would lose, but no such dice!

Niners Lineman Herrion Dies After Game By EDDIE PELLS, AP Sports Writer
1 minute ago

DENVER - San Francisco offensive lineman Thomas Herrion collapsed in the locker room and died Sunday morning, shortly after the 49ers played the Denver Broncos in a preseason game.

Herrion, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound guard, was on the field for San Francisco's 14-play, 91-yard drive that ended with a touchdown with 2 seconds left.

Players had finished listening to coach Mike Nolan address them in a postgame meeting when Herrion collapsed. Medics administered CPR on him and took him to an ambulance that rushed him to a nearby hospital.

About three hours later, 49ers spokesman Aaron Salkin confirmed that Herrion had died. The cause of death was not immediately known.

"This is a colossal tragedy for the 49ers and the entire NFL community," Salkin said. "We still do not know all the details. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Herrion family."

The death comes a little more than four years after offensive lineman Korey Stringer of the Minnesota Vikings died of heatstroke during a training camp practice on a day during which the heat index soared to 110.

Since Stringer's death, NFL teams have increased their efforts to teach players about hydration and how to manage the heat. They have been experimenting with sensors to measure players' core body temperatures, although those by themselves wouldn't be able to prevent a heat-related death.

Temperatures were in the mid-60s with 50 percent humidity Saturday night in Denver, although experts say heatstroke can occur even in cool conditions.

After the game, Nolan said he had no comments about San Francisco's 26-21 loss to the Broncos.

"There are more important things on our mind than the game," he said. "Right now, our thoughts and prayers are with Thomas Herrion."

Shortly after that statement, the Niners got dressed and boarded buses that took them to the Denver airport for their flight back to California.

"We didn't see anything happen," Niners defensive lineman Marques Douglas said. "I sat by my locker and prayed for him."

Herrion, a first-year player with the 49ers, played college ball at Utah and spent part of last season on the San Francisco and Dallas practice squads. He also played this season with the Hamburg Sea Dogs of NFL Europe.

Stringer's death was thought to be the first of its kind in the NFL. In 1979, St. Louis Cardinals tight end J.V. Cain died of a heart attack during training camp. Chuck Hughes, a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, died of a heart attack Oct. 24, 1972, during a game in Detroit against the Chicago Bears.

In April, Arena Football League player Al Lucas of the Los Angeles Avengers died of a spinal-cord injury he endured while making a tackle.

Another Pats fan here. And we are talking from way back in the day when they had the worst record in the league.

Can I just say as a BC alum, I'm thrilled that the Pats have added Doug Flutie to the roster? The fans here just love him from his college days. I always thought it was a damned shame he never got the credit he really deserved. I remember way back when he played for the Patriots and took over as starting QB when their regular QB, Tony Eason got hurt. Flutie got the Pats to the verge of the playoffs, then for reasons I still have yet to figure out, the coaches put Eason back in for the last game and they lost and no playoffs :( ! I would just love it if he could get a Superbowl Ring before he retires!

I have only been a Pats fan since December 2002 when my DH (then only my BF of 2 weeks) took me to my first game. I didn't even understand the rules of football. Bellefior- I'm a huge Doug Flutie fan as well! I still hate the Bills and Wade Phillips because they put Rob Johnson in instead of Flutie for that first playoff game against the Titans. Johnson played like an idiot for the first half and cost them the game! If Flutie had been in there, I'm fairly confident that we wouldn't be talking about the "Music City Miracle" today.

Umhm! Granted, I get that football is a violent sport -- I'm not delusional about that. BUT, I wanted to strangle Tom Jackson (who I normally adore) and Mike Irvin on Countdown last night. They kept arguing that Trotter shouldn't have been ejected b/c he didn't throw a punch. Um, yeah, er, but did anyone else notice that *he* was the one that walked over to Mathis and started all the sh*t talking?

McNabb is my QB for my fantasy team...not his greatest night...*sigh*

Kaleidoscope

Regarding the royal rumble...I was soo disappointed that Mathis and Trotter couldn't control themselves before the game because they are supposed to be ADULTS and PROFESSIONALS. I just don't understand how they allowed the trash talking to escalate into a brawl

fuzzy I feel your pain about Donovan's performance last night because he's my Final Fantasy QB also. I'm not sure what was going on with him...maybe that hit he took to the chest rattled him for the remainder of the game because some of his throws were waaay off target. Oh well, at least my other Philly final fantasy players did well last night (Westbrook, Defense) :)

I confess I didn't see the whole game but, at least in the first quarter, I *SWEAR* TO was leaving McNabb hangin'. Had it been last year, TO would have caught that first interception (not saying it wasn't a hard ball to catch, just sayin' TO has the ability to make such a catch). So now I'm mad a t *both* McNabb and TO. And I'm sure they care about my anger too. :p

Seattle Safety Hamlin in ICU after fight (http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/SEA/8976582)

KIRKLAND, Wash. (Oct. 17, 2005) -- Ken Hamlin of the Seattle Seahawks was in serious but stable condition at a Seattle hospital with a blunt trauma injury after a fight outside a nightclub.

Team physician Stan Herring said that Hamlin, a safety, was in the intensive care unit with a fractured skull, a small blood clot and bruising of the brain tissue.

"Right now, he is awake intermittently and talking to us," Herring said. "We're going to need more time to see if there is residual problems from bruising of the brain."

.....

The girlfriend told officers that Hamlin placed his hand on another man's back and said, "Excuse me." The man told Hamlin to stop pushing, and the two men began shoving each other.

Hamlin then punched the man in the face. Another man struck Hamlin with his forearm, knocking him down, before the two men began fighting with other men nearby, the report said. Other witnesses said one of the men hit Hamlin with some sort of street sign.

......

Hamlin was found lying in an intersection outside the club, surrounded by a crowd of people in downtown Seattle, a few blocks north of Qwest Field. Hamlin told the officers he was in a lot of pain, and when asked what happened, he said, "I don't remember."

Another Green Bay fan here, although I'm a little embarrased to admit it this year. We started last year 1-4 and still made the play offs, so I'm still crossing my fingers for this year. What makes me mad is that could have won most of the games they lost. At least everyone else in the division isn't doing all that well either and we were able to kick the crap out of New Orleans (not like it's a huge feat or anything, but still). Hey scrappy, fuzzyhubby is a rabid Raiders fan. We were watching the analyses on the NFL channel and you might be interested in their take on it all...

They said that last year, the Raiders drafted a higly ranked QB (Ack, I can't remember his name) who had a pretty big personality. They intended on working him in to the games more this year and thought that he and Leinhart wouldn't mix well.

They said that last year, the Raiders drafted a higly ranked QB (Ack, I can't remember his name) who had a pretty big personality. They intended on working him in to the games more this year and thought that he and Leinhart wouldn't mix well.

*shrug*

Yep, that's very true - I think his last name is Walter.... Which is fine, if they do decide to work him into things. I was surprised that he didn't get any reps last year, considering they did soooooo badly. A perfect time to throw in a rookie, right? So i do understand the raiders not taking leinhart..... to a point. He was SUCH a good value at that spot. They could have at least traded w/arizona and gotten a couple more picks out of it.

But ANOTHER safety?? True, we had the lowest # of INT's last year, so i understand it. I guess i'm just tired of being bored with their drafting...

Bumping this up in honor of the new football season. DH and I scored front row tickets on the forty yard line for the opening home game of the season and I'm totally stoked. I've never, ever had front row tickets to any event and being so close to my beloved Ravens is very exciting to me. We'll be sitting right behind their bench! Woohoo!!

Now..if only they can HOLD ON to the damn ball this time, it would be wonderful! :p GO RAVENS!

Hehe! I just sent one to my brother...the "I have no social life" one! They all crack me up!!

My Dolphins are SUCKING this year!! I really, really can't believe they're 0-9! They're really not THAT bad when you watch them play...they've lost almost half of those games by 3 points... :(

My other team is the Texans, and while they started off good...they haven't played so hot lately. Hopefully they healed up a little during the bye week!

I can NOT believe that the season is over 1/2 over already!! It goes by soooo damn fast! :(

GO PACKERS!

MrsBeckyLP
11-30-2007, 01:33 PM
Yeah. I'm not usually one to complain about officials, but they were totally against The Pack last night. It didn't help that our defense looked like shit (Al Harris, Nick Collins) and the play calling in the first half was ridiculous. What was up with all the long bombs? Short, 7-10 yard passes have been working great for us all season, so why throw the long ball so many times now??? People keep saying, "Why was Brett throwing all those passes?" but I want to know why all those plays were called.

imagirliegirl

Nikkid
12-01-2007, 08:31 PM
I'm not surprised they lost, I was just upset with the two bad calls they had which resulted in Dallas touchdowns. I'm not saying that because I'm a Packer fan, the announcers also said it along with people on the NFL network. I just think the outcome could have been different if the officials got the calls right. They may have have been 0-8 in Dallas but records were made to be broken, Favre has proven that! :D

This is my point, I'm not saying they lost because Favre got hurt. They obviously started doing better when Rodgers came in. What I'm saying is we will never know if they could have won or not IF they would have got those two calls right. Yeah, maybe they would have still lost, or they may have won. We will never know. Cowboys won, they have a better record than the Packers. After the last two years they have had I'm happy with them being 10-2 right now. I'm leaving it at that. :)

Oh, come on! Everyone knows the Packers had a chance. Just because Brett (not the Packers as a team in history) hasn't won in Dallas is no reason to say the Pack didn't have a chance. The refs blew it, and so did the Packers. I think we should have lost by more because of how crappy we played. Maybe if T.O. hadn't dropped so many passes, we would have. :p

Did anyone else see the Bucs-Saints game? WOW. I could barely watch. They've now won four games in a row! And the rest of their division ALL have losing records-the Saints, Falcons and Panthers.

I'm a Saints fan that doesn't live in the NO area so I rarely get to see one of their games and rely on the game breaks and scoreboard for updates. So I didn't see it but I was heartbroken as I was watching the Giants/Bears game and saw the clock down to 13 seconds with a Saints 3 point lead only to have the next time they showed the score with a TB touchdown win. From what I've read online it seems like the Saints tried one of their trick plays at a really stupid time which set up the TB touchdown. We so could have won that game and still be in the hunt for the NFC South lead. I agree that at this point TB probably has that spot wrapped up.

Eh I just hate hearing people blame losses on bad calls. Every teams gets bad calls. You either play well enough to win or you don't. You can't blame losses on bad calls. You never know what would have happened if the call had gone their way. Maybe on the next play they would have fumbled and the other team would have run it back for a score. Things could have gone better or differently and the result would have been the same.

Just because Brett (not the Packers as a team in history) hasn't won in Dallas is no reason to say the Pack didn't have a chance.

Well, as a Cowboy fan, it's enough for me. :D

It was an attempted double reverse, QB to Reggie Bush to somebody. Reggie Bush just sort of casually flung it, and the RB never got it. Bucs fell on it. Stupid play call, worse execution. Then they failed to move the ball and were down to 4th and 1. It was easily in FG range. But, Gruden seems to have lost his faith in his kicker (who had already missed earlier in the game). So, they went for it. I was screaming at the tv, screaming at Chuckie (as in, the scary killer doll, who bears a strong resemblence to Gruden), screaming. As it went, he looks like a genius for winning the game, not just sending it to OT, like a FG would have done. But if they hadn't gotten it, we'd all be calling for his head on a platter. Such is life as a Bucs fan!

They have done that play before and it worked but I still don't know why they would try it when they did. Oh well.

Yep, I call Gruden Chuckie too.

True, in most cases the Bucs have been as bad as the Saints.

God asks Peyton Manning first: "What do you believe?" Peyton thinks long
> and hard, looks God in the eye, and says, "I believe in hard work, and
> in staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I was lucky,
> but I always tried to do right by my fans." God can't help but see the
> essential goodness of Manning, and offers him a seat to his left. Then
> God turns to Tony Romo and says, "What do you believe?" Tony says, "I
> believe passion, discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of
> life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've always tried to be
> a true sportsman, both on and off the playing fields." God is greatly
> moved by Tony's sincere eloquence, and he offers him a seat to his

> believe?" Brett replies, "I believe you're in my seat."

We'll see what happens. Now tickets aren't going for as much, and I think my reserve (which I can't change because there are less than 12 hours left) is too high. I'd love to sell them to you if you had the money we're looking for! :p We posted them on eBay last night and decided the lowest we'd take is $1,000 for the two of them, so we'll see what happens with our auction. I guess that's what they're worth to us! DH is the one behind this, really. I am 50/50 on it, so I don't really care either way. Call me ungrateful, but when you can go to pretty much any game you want to, it's just not that big of a deal, especially when it's so cold. (Plus we live two hours away and I'm 25 weeks pregnant, so all the travel up to GB gets old!)

I'm assuming you were there rooting on the Badgers! Too bad they couldn't pull out the victory:(
I was! We even made a sign that said, "Happy New Year, Ladies of CC!" I got on the Jumbo-Tron, but don't know that it made it to TV. We were first row, 50 yard line.

LOL since my team didn't even make it to a bowl game this year (I'm a 'Cane) I was all for the Badgers. :) They could have taken that game. At the point they were 4 and 2, all they had to do was either kick a field goal (they were soooo within field goal range) or move the ball forward for the first down. Instead, they went for the long pass. Had they gotten that field goal, it would've been theirs. I was SO disappointed! Their marching band was way better, though! LOL

Oh, they are awesome!

Hell yeah! I was watching an interview with Brett Favre after last week's game and I could have sworn it was the UW band on the field doing 5th quarter right behind him?

Yes, proud UW alum here! Die hard Badger fan!

Heather- I watched all of the Outback Bowl, but I didn't notice you and your sign on TV. I could have missed it though. Awful play call on that 4th down. I still am angry about it now! They totally should have given it to PJ to run it up the middle.

Oh well...sorry for the Badger hijack everyone!

Yep. It was just the "pep" band (probably because half the marching band is still on break), but STILL! They are so much fun to watch. We didn't stick around for the 5th quarter because I was pretty wet and DH wanted to get to the bar to meet up with his cousin, but they played halftime and up in the stands of course.

Just had to say that I am from Wisconsin...my dad really wanted me to go to UW since I am a Badger. We lived in Kansas when I was in high school so I went to KU.

Would like to state these facts so no one thinks that I am a bandwagon fan. :) I

Well, it looks like babymoon here I come!

We sold the tickets! ($1,125 for two. I can't believe people are willing to pay that much! And we got lucky -- the buyer is local, and she and her sister will be cheering on the Pack!) I'm a little sad we won't be going to the game, but I just keep reminding myself of the Packers/Jets game on Dec. 3, 2006. It was 3 degrees, and I was completely miserable the entire time. The forecast for Sunday is about the same, and this time I'm pregnant, so like Nikkid said, I can't even drink myself warm. Plus, I think 10 years from now I'll be happy we went on one last vacation as childless people; I think that will be better than saying I was at the NFC Championship game the same year the Packers won the Super Bowl! ;):D:D

kugrrly- I love my fellow diehard Cheeseheads!

(And yes, I still consider myself a diehard even though we sold our tickets. Again, call me ungrateful, but the novelty does wear off a bit when you can go to pretty much any game you want.)

Becky I think that's GREAT!!! :) Have a wonderful Babymoon :D!!!

Okay, ok...please excuse the temporary hijack. I made the sign just for Becky! Here it is LOL! One of the officials took it for me before everyone got there, then my friend and I took another. My seat was right behind the sign, then some Florida Highway Patrol driver (two and a half hours later) told me I couldn't have it hanging over. So I just waved it up and down a lot.

Heather- Love the pix!!

Becky- YAY for selling the tix. People out here would probably pay $1000 per ticket. It's INSANE what people sell concert and sports tix for the in NYC area. Have fun planning your babymoon! We just booked 4 nights in Puerto Rico for March for our last vacation before #2 arrives!

kugrrly You should have gone to UW!:):D

I can't believe it's going to be that cold - seriously, how can they even play football in those temperatures? I don't blame you one bit for selling your tickets! I wonder how many fans will get frostbite.

Congrats on selling your tickets Becky! It's crazy what tickets will go for! My FIL lives in Antigo, I think it's NW of Greenbay. He's retiring this summer and moving back to SD so I would like to get out there before he comes back.

We will definately be wearing our cheeseheads and tatoos this weekend. I still can't get my tatoo off from last weekend! lol My son (11) is a HUGE Packers fan and he has a basketball tournament this weekend and guess what time his last game is? 7:00 on Sunday night! I told him I would let him skip it to watch the game, it's not very often you get to watch your team play in the NFC championship game.

Maybe I should wear my cheesehead to work on Friday along with my Favre jersey. I love gloating in my Packers gear while watching all the Vikings/Bronco fans just glare at me all day. :D

If was I was still pg I wouldn't be going to the AFC Championship, but if we didn't go DH would have probably sold them to a friend at face value :(

The friends we are taking are 14 weeks pg (with #2 so she's showing a lot) - we were telling her husband to make sure she tried on her pants before the game. I bet they'll show up completely unprepared.

I am wearing: winter hiking boots with 2 pairs of socks, long underwear, snow pants, long underwear top, fleece top, down jacket or windbreaker, hoodie (one of those full head things that cover head, neck and face), a hat, turtle thing for the neck, googles, thin gloves, wool mittens and outer layer mits.

I am just thankful we have the 3:00 game so the tailgate will start at 11...but theres going to be 20-30 mph winds.

4 years ago for a divisional game against the Titans it was nighttime, 10 degrees with wind chill of -10. If you didn't drink your beer fast enough it volcanoed out the top.

I think I will be rooting for the Packers too.

Jessey...I'm so totally jealous you get to go to the AFC Championship game. :( I haven't lived back home for 15 years now. And as diehard as I am, I haven't been to a Pats game at Gillette. The last one I went to was a Pre-Season when they came down here and played the Deadskins...err, oh I mean Redskins. :D (My ex's boss was a season ticket holder and gave him those tix which he surprised me with since we were both from Massachusetts...yet he was a Deadskins fan. Go FIGURE! What a traitor...funny, that after we broke up I had converted him to a Pats fanatic as he should have been! :p And now he lives in Dolphin country...Florida.)

Jesseybell- Hope you had a good time at the game!

So sad. :( :( The Giants deserved to win. The Packers played like crap -- defense sucked (Why didn't our coaches give Al Harris some help covering Plaxico Burress??? He clearly couldn't do it on his own.) and offense was atrocious. Actually, it should have been a blowout with as poorly as we played. We're lucky we didn't get our asses kicked.

I'm so depressed today, I'm so glad I didn't have to work today. I was so upset last night I couldn't fall asleep. I don't want to say the Giants deserved to win since I can't stand Eli but they did play better. :( Now I will be looking forward to seeing them get there butts kicked in the superbowl. I really don't care who wins but I guess I'll root for the Pats so they can have there perfect season. I think I'll go crawl back into bed now. :(

I don't have a problem with Eli, and I think he played pretty damn good. He threw very few poor passes. However, as a whole, I don't think the Giants played great. They gave us so many opportunities, and we couldn't produce. They practically handed the game to us SEVERAL times. We just played like shit.

I'm rootin' for the Giants in the Super Bowl though (even though I know they don't stand a chance). I don't want to see the Pats win.

Becky, I don't know! I kinda disagree with you. I feel they were the team who came closest to actually beating the Pats this season. I think they have a chance. I HOPE they do LOL.

I also don't have a problem with what a very young Eli did all those years ago. I'm happy for him. (But honestly, I'd find it in my heart to be happy for anyone playing the Pats. ;) )

eta: I was totally bummed for Favre. I waited until Gio contacted me, because I wanted to give him his space. Surprisingly, he is taking it very well.
