:( I'm so sad. I was watching GMA about two hours ago and our local news broke in with the story. :(

It is a very sad day. I totally didn't think Favre would retire this year. He will definitely be missed. :(

P.S. No matter what I am a Packer fan through and through! GO PACK GO!

I think it is sad, but I am glad that he is getting out now. It was getting so hard to watch him and I cringe every time he gets sacked. I thought this was a good article re: his thoughts -

This is such a sad day for the NFL! :( We're sitting here watching the NFL network...all Brett all day. So sad!! Brings back memories of when Dan retired! That was awful for me!! I was home from college at sat in the middle of the floor in my parents living room watching highlights of his career all day...crying.

Thanks for all the memories, Brett!!

jenahdawn -

i just said the same thing to DH...watching ESPN Favrecenter (hehehe) and it was total coverage of it. I get that it's a huge deal and I love Brett Favre, he is one of my favorite players and has been for years, it just seems a bit much ya know?!

I totally said the same thing to my DH! I had people at work (who are not GB fans) been asking me how I'm doing and my aunt emailed me and asked if I heard the news. I told DH it is sad for us but your right, it almost feels like he died the way they are treating it. My DH even joked that we should lower our Packer flag! LOL If we had a flag pole we would but our flag is hanging on a wooden stick off the side of our house so we couldn't do that. :p

We were planning on taking a trip this year and surprsining my 11 yr old son for his birthday because we thought this would be his last year. I guess I'm more shocked because I expected him to retire the last two years and this year I wasn't expecting it and he did. I can totally understand why though, I think he would feel like he had failed if he couldn't come back this year without a Superbowl win. I disagree with that but I know that's how he felt.
