i'm only over 5 weeks (second pregnancy) and i wake up in the middle of the night..toss and turn for 2 or more hours then exhaust myself and fall back asleep...in total i probably get about 7 hrs but it is so frustrating being up at 3 am!!! My toddlers sleeps 12 hours so its not like he is the culprit. Maybe i am just anxious about this pregnancy. i thought the sleeping would get better once we broke the news to my parents (to get the word out a little at least) but i am still up an night!!Before gettting pregnant i was an avid Tylenol PM person when i couldn't stay asleep..now i cant do that..help

I am sorry you are going through this. My doctor actually approved Tylenol PM for me when I was 7 months pregnant. I never took it, but maybe you can talk to your doctor about it and see what he/she says.

I had the same problem early in the pregnacy. It went away after a week or two. It really sucks. The only advice I could give is to go to bed earlier and then just get up once you wake up. Pretty soon you'll be back to sleeping in later.

thanks for the advice and i def. will ask about the Tylen. PM when i have my first appointment (ahh..but its not for two weeks). the other night i did go to sleep earlier and slept until 6 am so i took that as a good night and got up and went about my day...it was a productive day b/c i was up so early..but i'm so tired at the end of the day.

I had a period of about 2 weeks where I would sleep only about 3-4 hours a night. I would fall asleep fine but then wake up at 2-3 am and just lay there the rest of the night. My doctor said that Tylenol PM was okay for me too, I did take it a few times when I was having a hard time sleeping.

Tylenol PM is on my approved list of medicines - it's actually listed as something to take for insomnia. I'm sure even if you call the dr's office before the appt they should be able to tell you if you can take it.

Good luck!
