Flying with Lovenox [Archive]

Our family is taking a trip to Florida at the end of March and we'll be flying. I'm on Lovenox (pre-filled syringes) throughout my pregnancy. I'm pretty sure I just can't pack these syringes in my checked baggage and will need to put them in my carry on.

Has anyone flown recently and had to carry-on their Lovenox? I'm not sure what to expect with the airport security. I will call but was wondering what others have experienced.

No experience, but my dad is diabetic so he travels with syringes. I'd suspect these TSA requirements (http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1375.shtm) would apply to other meds as well. You may want to have a note on your doc's letterhead as well.

I just want to add that I travel with my MS meds, which are also pre-filled syringes and I have never had a problem.

Thanks LexyLou. For some reason I thought it would be really difficult to get anything in a syringe through the checkpoint since they are so non-liquids/sharps. :confused:
