I didn't know what to call the thread... I've already posted something similar in my May Mommies thread and the Pregnant After Infertility thread, but I thought that there may be more 2nd time mom's here.

I am 26 weeks 4 days pregnant today. I had an appointment yesterday. Everything is fine with the baby :) , and everything seems to be fine with the baby today (can feel him moving a lot).

Anyway, last night at about 7, I was sitting on the couch watching t.v. when I started to feel pain in my lower right abdomen. I thought that using the restroom might help, so I stood up. When I did stand, there was this horrible pain in my abdomen and right side of my back. I slowly made it to the bathroom, and after peeing could barely get off the toilet! Walking was also VERY painful.

I layed down and drank 2 glasses of water, and the pain got better. However about 2 hours later the same thing happened again (but not quite as intense).

I have had some Braxton Hicks contractions, but this was different....and I *think* that my uterus was hard, but I was in so much pain that I wasn't thinking about that...

Does that sound like a real contraction, something else, or round ligament pain? Thanks :)

It sounds to me like it might be round ligament pain or sciatica nerve pain. I mention sciatica because it always came on suddenly, the same way a contraction could feel sudden. But a contraction feels more menstrual. I can remember being barely able to walk and bent over the kitchen counter in pain! Try bouncing on an exercise ball and/or doing some stretching exercises (stretching the hip area) on the floor while watching TV. Hope I made sense and you feel better!

I got something kind of similar sounding about 2 months ago. I was lying down on the couch and when I sat up it felt like something "unzippered" in my abdomen. It really hurt and I walked around hunched over and in pain for the rest of the evening. It was gone by morning and my midwife said some people are just more sensitive to the loosening of everthing than others and not to worry. That said you should still call your doctor, but it's probably perfectly normal!
