Hi All, we are scheduled to have the big u/s on this coming up Monday. We are pretty sure we may have access to the 3D machine and was just wondering did anyone else have a 3D shot that they can share? Preferably, I'd like to see any taken at or around 20 weeks to get a feel for what he/she will look like...I've seen them taken at much later stages of pregnancy, so just curious what they look like earlier on. :)

I had one (I was a few days over 17 weeks at the time) but we LOST all the photos. I am so bummed. The image isn't all that great at this stage, unfortunetly. The tech told me that they don't get really pretty baby pictures until week 32 and beyond (when there is a good amt. of fat). Don't freak if your baby looks like an alien!

kamileer That stinks that you lost your pics!! To be honest, I was wondering about it looking like a total alien, but didn't want to say that. I laughed out loud when I read your post! Is there any place in our area that does 3D pics where we can have them done anytime we want?

I had one done with DS when he was 23 weeks. I think he looks like a baby but he doesn't have a lot of body fat so it was a little creepy. The lines on his face were due to movement and the soundwaves bouncing off.http://home.earthlink.net/~lmzitzmann/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/boy1.jpg

edited to fix picture

We did ours later, as we also had heard you get better pictures then. Ours was done at 34 weeks.

jengen Thanks! The only reason we had it done was because I had a cyst on my right ovary that needed to be evaluated for a 2nd opinion. The u/s tech offered to use the 3D machine after doing the level 2 u/s because DS was being so cooperative. Thankfully, insurance covered it since they thought it was part of the diagnostic procedure. We were really happy to have gotten it done and I wish it would be the standard diagnostic u/s tool used. I'm sure 10 years from now it will be something completely amazing.

We got ours done at 28 weeks. We got some great shots, and I was amazed when he was born - he looked so much like the ultrasound! I know I shouldn't be amazed but the technology is so incredible. We were all in awe for that hour that we got to watch him on screen. His face (nose, in particular) looks a little wider than normal due to the distortion from the sound waves, but I included a newborn pic to show the difference.

His face (nose, in particular) looks a little wider than normal due to the distortion from the sound waves,

We had a 3-D ultrasound done at 41 weeks 5 days to confirm the size of the baby before making a decision to schedule a c-section. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner and I also don't have an electronic copy of the picture so I can't post it. Our pictures looked very similar to cantwait's , only we had a girl :) DD's also looked wider/bigger due to the sound waves, but other than that, she looked almost identical to her 3-D picture when she was born.

asianbear Thanks for sharing...what a neat picture! Are the baby's eyes open?

can't wait That comparison is amazing! And you're right, I'm sure 10 years from now, they will be able to pick up unbelievable detail. :)

We have had numerous 3D ultrasounds from 22 weeks on. We love our doctor. ;) Our video is in color, however the images are in black and white:

Our biggest problem with them is that he has been facing my back for quite some time. Not a very good position for face shots! ;)
