I was wondering what you girls think about this? because I'm freaking out

Last Thursday DD had her 2 month check up and vaccinations. Well the ped told me she what to watch out for (reactions) and that she would sleep alot well DD did and was over it the next morning. back to playing and (herself) well sat night came and all hell has broke loose since then my baby is a different baby completely. she kicks and screams and nothing i can do consoles her she is in pain she is'nt spitting up eats normal, stools are normal just nothing i do calm her. well i call the ped tuesday and i asked could it be a reaction to the shots or such she said no and asked if she had a fever(no) she said she is fine just being fussy. well today i couldnt take seeing my DD in this pain so i pretty much went to the ped and told them i want to be seen. the ped checks her and tells me its reflux. which is fine and gives me a prescription for zantec!

What i don't understand is my DD never has gas never spits up a lot never has been this fussy loves her milk and handles it great until the shots thursday then i read this rotovirus thing and im just freakin out i didnt know reflux could come out of no where, with no problems in the past.
I know im rambling but im jsut worried cause im dealing with a different child and a completely different personality

just hoping someone can shed some light for me.

Well, I'm finding your post quite difficult to understand, so I'm not even sure if I'm answering the right question. :(

Anyways, is she formula-fed or breastfed? Judging by her age, reflux is a reasonable possibility. You say she had the vaccinations last Thursday and was essentially fine - I would say it's a safe bet that the vax aren't related to what's going on. At her age, it could be colic, or it could be reflux (which is quite often originally diagnosed as colic and turns out to be reflux). Remember, she's little and her tummy is still maturing.

I wouldn't freak out. If the Zantac gives her some relief, then reflux was probably the right diagnosis by the doctor. If you aren't seeing a change in a couple of days, take her back to the doctor. But be aware that at this age, fussiness can be a major issue that a lot of new moms have to deal with.

There are lots of things you can do to get through a rough period like this - try reading Happiest Baby on the Block for the five S's, which have saved the sanity of many moms on this board. Get a sling or other baby carrier if you don't already have one and use it as much as you can. Don't be afraid to go back to the doctor if you aren't happy with the diagnosis.

I'm sorry your dd isn't feeling well.

Can you tell where your dd is in pain? Is she arching her back and stretching her legs out? Did she receive the Rotateq vaccine? Is she having regular bm's?

I honestly don't know if reflux can just suddenly occur. My ds started screaming when he was 3 days old. If it is reflux the Zantac should give you results in a few days but babies build up a tolerance to it quickly so it may come back.

the pain is definetly coming from her tummy. She doesnt stretch her legs it is more of kicking all over the place. Yea, she did have the Rotateq vaccine. Her BM are regular.

She told me to give her a 1/2 teaspoon of maalox or mylanta before each feeding for a day and see if that helps and if it does fill the zantex prescription. If not call.

I would do just what she told you to do. Just know that every problem isn't solved over night. My ds is 14 weeks old and we're still trying to fix his acid reflux and dairy intolerance.

As far as Rotateq goes... my ped said that the symptoms of intussusception are similar to a lot of other problems. For instance, inconsolable screaming, tensing up, hard abdomen, mucus in bm's, etc...

All you can do at this point is trial and error. If it gets worse or you become more concerned then call your doctor again or go directly to an emergency room.

Here are the signs and symptoms of intussusception

Signs and Symptoms
Children with an intussusception have intense abdominal pain, which often begins so suddenly that it causes loud, anguished crying and causes the child to draw the knees up to the chest. The pain is usually intermittent, but recurs and becomes stronger. As the pain subsides, a child with an intussusception may stop crying and seem fine.

Other common symptoms include:

abdominal swelling or distension
passing stools (or poop) mixed with blood and mucus, known as currant jelly stool (60% percent of infants with an intussusception will pass currant jelly stool)
vomiting
vomiting up bile, a bitter-tasting fluid secreted by the liver that's often golden-brown to greenish in color
lethargy (i.e., drowziness or sluggishness)
shallow breathing
grunting
As the illness progresses, a child will become progressively weaker and may develop a fever and appear to go into shock. Symptoms of shock include lethargy, rapid heartbeat, weak pulse, low blood pressure, and rapid breathing.

ETA: I just wanted to add that i think it's very unlikely that it is intussusception and more than likely something more like acid reflux. There just isn't a fast answer.
