DH and I started thinking about our vacations for this year and we usually do a smaller trip over the 4th of July...someplace we can drive to and take the dog. Also, we will have a 4 month old baby with us this year. One of the places we are looking at is Mackinac Island.

I'm just wondering if anyone has been and if there is enough there to keep us occupied for 5 days? Some of our family will be joining us, so we don't need much in regards to night life. But we are active people and don't really like just sitting around on a beach somewhere (though maybe this changes when you have a baby?).

Any tips would be appreciated.

I haven't been there, but have friends with a house there. I sure would love to visit - especially for the Lilac Festival in June! I also remember there is a house there they call the Wedding Cake House because it's really pretty and looks like, well, a wedding cake. The Mackinac Island (http://www.mackinac.com) website looks like there would be plenty to do. :) I've always thought it looks so pretty, I think you'd have a good time. Sorry I can't be more help!
