View Full Version : Closest Beach Warm Enough in March?

We'd like to go to the beach during Spring Break (I think it starts on March 17th) for a couple days, but we're quite clueless about where it could be. I just want somewhere warm enough to lie on the beach and get in the sea, while keeping the costs relatively low. Is Miami warm enough? Or should we go directly to the Caribbean? We'd rather not go too far away (although we are in WA after all). Thanks!

From Washington state, I would probably go to Hawaii or Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, etc in Mexico. In my head those are closer than Florida (?), but I'm not sure if that's actually true or not.

Definitely Hawaii or Mexico. The Carribbean (and parts of FL) will be warm as well, but the West Coast will definitely be closer. Plus, Mexico is pretty well-known for its low-cost all-inclusive prices.

If you go to Florida I'd stay away from places like Daytona Beach, Ft Lauderdale, Miami, and the Keys because they are over run with spring breakers (unless you are looking for a lot of partying).

As for Mexico, I'd also stay away from Cancun for that same reason (again, unless you are looking for a spring break destination). Mexico might be a good choice because of the location and also the availability of all inclusive resorts. You could find a more lively resort or something that is geared more towards couples.

I'm from Miami and it'll definitely be warm enough, but are you sure you want to do Florida during Spring Break? I love my State, but spring break is waaay busy and crowded in most of our large cities. Even now, living in Tampa, we're getting a lot of the Spring Breakers. It can be a madhouse! Also, you'll find most things are booked in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and the Keys.

Also, I went to Mexico on my honeymoon during Spring Break. UGH! We stayed at a couples-only All Inclusive, but it was still very crowded and we went out it was a lot of drunk college kids. So if you choose Mexico, I'd try to stay somewhere that is not a huge resort town.

If you want the Caribbean, I'd stay away from Jamaica during Spring Break.
I'd go to Hawaii. :) You can find great prices for hotels and probably reasonable airfare from WA State.

You could rent a beach house in Las Conchas (a gated beach community in Rocky Point, Mexico). We've stayed several times at Villa Madre Del Mar (http://madredelmar.com/madredelmar/index.htm) and had a fabulous time. Nothing like being RIGHT on the beach!

Thanks a lot for your replies! We're trying to avoid Mexico because I'm rather sure that my husband would need a visa, and it's just too cumbersome. Also, we're both foreigners so I am not really aware of how busy/crowded/out-of-control things get during spring break, so thanks a lot for that input. We just found some really reasonably-priced tickets to Maui in ATA, so we might go with that.

You'll have a great time! :)

I just got back from Maui last month and I want to go back already. I love it there. Have a fabulous time!

I was going to suggest Hawaii - especially Maui, from the west coast in March. We're going ourselves and have been there in the spring before - lovely beach weather!
