I'm enlisting the help of my ever-creative online friends to help me with some ideas for this shower.
My friend is really funky and creative. She's a chef in the city and lives in a *tiny* apartment with her fiance. They aren't asking for gifts, so instead we're throwing a fab martini-lounge inspired party.
Ideas for decorations, invitations, food etc would be appreciated.

Cool sign to draw color and design from (found here) (http://www.homewetbar.com/speakeasy-martini-lounge-p-194.html) :

Table cloths in that diamond design would look awesome!
I would say that serving the martinis in glass (vs. plastic) is really important for overall feel, too. If you don't have access to enough of these, maybe you could rent them?
Invitations:

That invitation was found here (https://www.psaessentials.com/martinipage.htm) along with TONS of other martini related items.
So much fun!

Also, don't forget to get martini lounge music!

My bridesmaids were going to throw me a martini themed shower, and they found the cutest invitations here : https://www.partybasics.com/invsnmore/home.nsf?OpenDatabase&url=products.nsf/Subjects/InvitationCategories
Go down the left side to Just Parties - cocktails and there are some really cool invitations.

Hey Sarah-
I was at the fabric store last weekend and saw some amazing cool mod fabrics there for cheap! I have some cool turquoise and white fabric at home I was going to make a dress out of to wear to a wedding last year that I won't be using if you want it to make a tablecloth/napkins/something. I could help you with making stuff, if you want. You know, I told my MOH about your housewarming and the small world that it is- that I taught Marnie ceramics and she said she was Marnie's peer tutor person in junior high! So next time you talk to Marnie- tell her Raelene says hi!

I've often seen cheaper "fancy" plastic martini glasses at a local store (SuperStore). We've also thought of making the back patio into a funky "lounge" with mod-style throws and pillows. Changing the back patio lightbulbs to coloured ones. Lots of funky appies and a "Martini Menu" of course.

I just saw this link to the food network that had lots of good ideas:

Oh! And ikea has lots of really cheap throw cushions in fun colors, so start there and then you can always cover them to fit in with your decor or her decor after.

I LOVE music by Henry Mancini....and he has tons of CD's out there to choose from. You can always check out the library for free loaners if you don't want to buy one...
Definately play up the "swinging" bar theme with some signature drinks. Maybe just martini's? Or you could offer several types of martinis and cosmo's? Those also go in martini glasses.
Finger foods; apps for easy munching with the drinks. Maybe a cheese and/or olive bar? Those are great pairs for drinks!
