I'm 20 weeks along and on Saturday the baby moved way low. There is alot of pressure behind my pubic bone and I feel like I have to run to the washroom every 15 minutes. Also if I sit down for too long it hurts to stand up properly...like the muscles have shortened and I am stretching them (much different from round ligament pain).

I thought that babies were supposed to move up?
Is this normal to have the baby sit so low?

Would you call your doctor if this happened to you?? I hate to call unecessarily and it is just normal growth, KWIM?

I am not having any bleeding or fluid leaking or anything like that.

What do you think?

First thing my OB told me at my very first appt was "there is no such thing as a stupid question. That is why we are here." So if it brings you peace of mind, call your OB.

That being said, I have had friends who carried low throughout their entire pg, so it is not unheard of. At 20 weeks, the baby still has lots of room to grow and move, so he may just be at a low phase. It happens.

Yes, you should call. The dr's are used to having their pregnant patients call for any and every reason. I must have called my OB at least once a week if not a whole bunch more. Thats what they are there for. Your peace of mind is a major part to a healthy pregnancy so even if it turns out to be nothing it is still better for you to know that.

ETA: I must have posted at the same time as Boilermaker :)

That happened to me around 20 weeks also. DS decided to move down low and it caused some serious back pain for me. I almost couldn't even walk. It caused pressure and everything, I got worried so I went to see my OB. She found his HB way down low above my pubic bone and she said that he is just laying low. After about a week of the pain he moved back up and what a relief that was! Of course now he's way down low once again but this time it's not causing any back pain just feeling like he's on my bladder all day, lol. If it makes you feel better go ahead and call.

I felt a lot of pressure down low when I was 20 weeks, give or take a few weeks. You might want to call just so they can check you out, but I don't think feeling pressure down low is necessarily something to worry about. A few weeks ago a co-worker of mine was complaining about a lot of low pressure; she was about 24 weeks at the time.

Thanka ladies,

I will give L&D a call and see what they say. Of course I am feeling it a little less today and I think you are all right, it is just hanging low right now. Either that or maybe there is a leg down there or something. I'll see how it feels by lunchtime and then I'll call them. I don't know why I am so hesitant to call...I thought I would be a caller and I haven't called more than to just make my appointments.

I'll post what they say.

Thanks again ladies!!

It might have something to do with the softening of the pubic symphysis. For me this started twice around week 20. There is not much you can do about it if it is that. But it does not hurt to see your doctor, just to be on the safe side.
