I used to watch The Price is Right when I was a kid and home sick from school. I haven't really watched it in years, but the past couple of weeks I've found myself watching once in a while. I get so irritated when the people in Contestants' Row screw each other over with their bids!!! Like, one guy bids $850, and the next guy bids $851. Today it seemed like every bidding war was won by someone who did that. Anyone else get aggravated by this?

Hehe, it probably is annoying to the bidder who loses, but it is part of the game so it doesn't annoy me too much.
DS and I watch TPIR almost every day. I watched it a lot growing up too. My mom and dad and sister were in the audience a few years ago, but they didn't get called to come on down.

Price is Right is my weakness. I absolutely have to watch when I am home sick or have the day off.

If I'm not mistaken, one of our CC members actually made it to contestant's row and won a chance to play one of the games too...was it Rosebud?

I was recently on the show (it aired 12/12).
I was not only in the front row (yay for camping out at 2:15AM), i was the very last contestant to get called down. I only had one chance to bid and didn't get it...but that's okay because my dream was to go to the show with Bob Barker and hear my name and that's the dream that i got fulfilled! :-) I did get some nice luggage (for those contestants not appearing on stage) and good air time too. lol

That's awesome!! Why do you think they picked you? Do you go through some kind of screening process before they let you in the studio? I'm so jealous!!

Way to go!! Tell us more. I guess I'll have to live through you cuz I don't think I'll be making it before June. :(

Oh how I love PIR. I have been watching this show for 20 years. I used to have Bob as my avatar. :) As long as I can remember people are always doing a bidding war.

I would love to be in the studio before June.

ihearttx and Adaya- my whole experience was one dream come true since i'd ALWAYS wanted to go! My trip to LA was just to go to the show (although MOBOX and i did try to hook up since she worked nearby)! We started camping out the night before @ 2:15AM. Our numbers in line were like 41,42 and 43 (which we didn't know what that meant). It ends up that since we had tickets to go to the later taping- our numbers were 6,7 and 8 (which were our seat numbers- out of those 40+ people in front of us- only 5 were going to the later taping).

If you want me to go into all the detail of the morning i will. But for now, to answer ihearttx's question on how i think i got picked and about the screening process- i'll just cover that.
There are about 325 audience members that get about a 15 second interview in groups of 12- EVERYone gets this. Since we were in the top 12, we went first. You go to this bar where there are benches and there are 2 people- one doing the note-taking and the other one asking the questions. As a very small point of differentiation, i didn't stand against the bench and pole like everyone else did, i kneeled on it. They go and ask EVERYone what they do, where they are from and what do they do for fun and then it seems that if it sounds interesting, they ask you more and that's what they base their decision on.
I waitressed every saturday at a mom and pop breakfast and lunch place so that what i told them i did, i told them VERY proudly the town that i'm from and for fun, i had just completed my first triathlon (which seemed to impress them). The guy asking questions was trying to lead me to if i spill things at the restaurant but i don't so i led him to the fact that i usually trip somehow. I think for me, what they liked was that i would go into just enough detail and didn't ramble (and was very calm on the outside) and knew when to stop (sooo many people around me would just go on and on and would have to be cut off). After my section was done being interviewed everyone was telling me that they were taking a lot of notes on me and that i was going to get picked. The whole taping i was waiting and waiting and then FINALLY, i was the LAST ONE to get called! It was AMAZING!

(oh, and for those of you that 'know' or remember me, when we were on our way to the taping, i got a phone call saying that my divorce was final and it was official- what a blessing that on a day that could be soooo devasting- my dream came true of going and being a contestant on The Price is Right- even if all i won were the consolation prizes!) :-)

I've been trying to get my portion from the show onto youtube but haven't figured out how to do it yet!

Thanks for sharing Becki. How cool that you went through that experience. I'm so jealous...in a good way. :D Great pics too!
