I want to make some simple but yummy desserty type things for my neighbors for Valentine's Day. I really want them to be from DD, but obviously, I'll make them.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

What a nice idea! :)
I like this idea from Everyday Food. It was in the magazine sometime last year, I think.
Brownie Hearts and Brownie Bites (http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=recipe4488&layout=edf&edfParentCat=cat17924&subStyleType=recipes&catid=cat17924)

Thanks! I just bought a heart cut out, too.
I learned my first year with the hubby, that if you make those rolls of cookies and them cut the cookie with the cutter AFTER they've been baked, you get the cutest heart shapes. If you try to shape before it's cooked, it kind of blurs out as it bakes (talking about Choco Chip and Oatmeal)
what about heart shaped sugar cookies w/ icing? you can always buy a sugar cookie mix or dough?
heart shaped rice krispy treats?

So Katy, do you just roll out the dough and cook it like that and then cut out? Do you have to cook it longer?
vjel-My friend made us the cutest cookies for Hanukkah/Christmas and she's still emotionally scared from how hard it was to frost. :p

DD and I are making packaged sugar cookies and baking them so they are on a stick and then decorating them.
Then I got these little tin pink and red containers from the Target $1 section and some floral foam and we are going to stick the cookies in them for a little bouquet.
I always cut my shaped cookies after baking them. They retain their shapes perfectly like this. The only caveat is that you need to work rather quickly (and cut them while still hot), and that you get wasted cooked dough.

thank you for posting this idea! I made three of these for DS's daycare teachers and they turned out sooo cute. I haven't assembled the 'bouquets' yet but the cookies are made and I bought floral foam and cute Valentine themed takeout containers from Michaels to put them in. I will try to post a picture of them once they're done.
thank you again! I'm sure they'll be a huge hit with his teachers and they were a lot of fun to make. :)
