I want to make ribs for the Super Bowl but I have no idea how to go about it. I usually just order them in a restaurant!

What kind do you get? How do you make them?
Thanks!

i just made ribs last week that were so good, and so easy.

I made both pork and beef ribs at the same time. i had a small package of each, but not enough of either to just use one kind.

I just layered the ribs in a crockpot with barbeque sauce. I think we had 2 racks of beef ribs and 3 small racks of pork ribs.

I used one bottle of sauce (I can't remember the size, but it was a regular sized bottle.) I did add about a cup of water, I just kind of guessed how much to add, I don't think it really matters the exact amount.

I turned the crockpot on high for about 6-7 hrs.

that's all, it was super easy.

Thanks, Colleen. I have made them in the crock pot also. Have you ever grilled them? I guess that's more of what I was looking for.

Not to toot my own horn but I make awesome ribs. This is the recipe I use but I leave out the liquid smoke and cayenne pepper, I use regular ketchup, I don't cut the ribs up, and I don't use baby-back, I use whatever it is they sell at Costco.

Ribs with a Kick

2 medium onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup water
1 cup spicy ketchup
3 tablespoons white vinegar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Liquid Smoke, optional
2 teaspoons ground mustard
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
5 to 6 pounds baby back ribs, cut into serving-size pieces

In a large saucepan, saute onions and garlic in butter until tender. Stir in the brown sugar, water, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Liquid Smoke if desired, mustard, chili powder, paprika and cayenne. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer and stir until thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Combine the salt, onion salt, garlic salt and pepper; sprinkle over ribs. Grill ribs, covered, over indirect medium heat for 1-3/4 hours or until meat is very tender. Set aside 1 cup barbecue sauce for serving.
Brush some of the remaining sauce over ribs; cook 20 minutes longer, turning ribs and basting with sauce. Serve with reserved sauce.

kari - what I would do is still slow cook them in the crockpot (or I have also boiled them - but the crockpot is less muss and fuss) a long slow cooking makes them much more tender. Then put them under the broiler or on the grill - to crisp them up. Keep basting them with the barbeque sauce. Or for something different - dont use barbeque sauce in the crockpot - maybe a bit of water or bouillon and when you broil or bbq use a mixture of 1 part soya sauce (or a bit less) to 2 parts honey, and use this to baste with. YUMMMM!! Good luck. :D

We do them in the oven.
We soak them in vinegar--white or apple cider-- over night
Next day we drain them and put them on a cookiesheet lined with foil.
We cover them and cook for 3 hours at 225.
Then we uncover them, coat with BBQ sauce and cook at 400 or 450 for about 20-30 minutes until carmalized.
They're super easy to make, just time consuming.
VERY YUMMY!

We also use KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. We've bought about them all and think that one does the best.

I usually use a rub such as this one (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Memphis-Rub/Detail.aspx) and bake them in the oven. Then I finish them off on the grill with my favorite BBQ sauce. To me, it's best to remove that fatty membrane on the underside of the ribs. My dad taught me to use a pliers and knife.

I've used this recipe called "Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Prize-Winning-Baby-Back-Ribs/Detail.aspx)" and liked it (but there were flare-ups!).

Here's another well reviewed one: Barbeque Ribs (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Barbecue-Ribs/Detail.aspx)
