Yay, I'm the first one! :)

I thought I'd share with y'all my latest tactic for snacks. I loooove my salty, bad-for-you snacks (like Smartfood!); but like anything else, I'm trying to learn how to still have them, in moderation, rather than deprive myself totally. For a while I would simply 'ban' certain snacks from the house. But then I'd want them SO bad, I'd go out and buy them and eat the whole bag anyway.

I generally do grocery shopping on the weekend; our 'big' trip I do once a month, but once a week I go in to get milk & bread, and whatever fresh veggies & fruits we need. Lately what I do is, scan the sales flyer; if there's a 'bad' snack for sale, then I will buy it. ONLY if it's on sale, will I buy it. If there's nothing I like for snacks on sale, then I don't buy anything.
And yes, I do observe serving sizes once I get my snacks home. :) This weekend it was white cheddar Cheez-its---26 of them is 4 points. And THAT took care of my earned activity points!

Anyway, just a silly little thing that works for me, that I thought I'd share!

Woohoo, new thread! WI this week and I am down another pound. Granted, I had af last week so I am sure that is part of it. I have been walking daily with my DD and my recent craving have been clemintin oranges..yum, yum!

Kerrie -thanks for sharing your tips.

Snacks -What I have been doing is placing my serving sizes in little snack bags and writing the points on the outside of the baggie so I don't have to figure it out and by not having the regular box in my hand, it kind of takes away the possiblity that I may eat more than one serving.

Challenge -Does anyone want to partake in a weight loss challenge this week? Or, maybe a month loss weight loss challenge?

Ok, back on the WW wagon today. I've hit my highest weight and I'm feeling awful (not just mentally, but physically).

I signed up for online again, debating whether I should also sign up for meetings. If I go to meetings I'll probably be more accountable, no?

hi all!

i did ww for about a year online and lost 20# and gained some of it back but have since given up ww online. i'm trying to do it on my own by tracking points in an excel spreadsheet, using dwlz and just sticking to smaller portions :P

Chylynn I'm definitely up for a challenge this week!! Not sure how it works, but I could use a little KITA, So, bring it on...

WI today, I'm - 0.5 and I'm very happy with it. I slacked off on counting all weekend, so I was bracing for a gain. Plus this puts me at -15 total.

I'll join in a challenge, I could use a boot in the rear.

Hey everyone! I've been MIA for a little while, which is never a good thing :o I've decided to change WI to Wednesdays, Sundays were just too much with the weekend. So I'll be "starting fresh" on Wednesday. We going on a cruise in August, so I have some more motivation :)

I'd be interested in a challenge too. Like greenbunny, I could use a boot in the rear too!

greenbunny - congrats on the loss!

amberfiddles - I'm doing it all on my own, with a nice excel spreadsheet as well.

EJH - Welcome. I think it depends on the accountability thing. If you tell people IRL, for me, they hold me plenty accountable. If you don't have anyone that will, meetings might be best. :)

chylynn - congrats on the loss!

As for me, I'm dreading my WI on Wednesday. I am just afraid that I will be up, but I'm way bloated from AF, so maybe that'll go away quick enough that it won't affect Wednesday's WI for me. Crosses fingers.

Okay, since there is an interest in a challenge...how about

exercise 3 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio
do two days of weight training and/or ab work

Does this work for everyone? Any other ideas (this is the first time I set up a challenge, so I have no idea what I am doing...he, he..)

Katy

I suggest starting up a new thread for the challenge and linking to it here. Just remember that would go in the H&F Groups area.

ETA: There's also a Lot to Lose thread in there as well.

Jenny -- It's a good point. SIL and I are good about keeping each other accountable about exercise, food, and water. She's not doing WW but she is committed to better choices that work for her. I'll do online and if I find I can't stick with it, I'll start back to meetings.

Chylynn -- I'd be in for that challenge!!

jenny---has it been working for you on your own? i keep the spreadsheet on my desktop @ work so i remember to put the pts in, etc.

i have a terrible habit that i am trying to break right now. when i come home from the gym or dance and am fixing dinner i'm usually hungry so i just grab whatever i first put my hands on. and then i end up eating too much snack and not enough healthy dinner. i try to have a piece of fruit to tide me over as a snack after lunch and before my workout or dance class, maybe i should just eat a banana or apple afterwards if i know it'll be awhile before dinner...

Welcome to our newbies! :)

I am having a rough time resisting this damned peppermint bark that is leftover from Christmas. ROWR! Usually I'm really good during the week, and only eat 'bad' stuff in moderation on the weekends. But no, right now there's just two pieces of this stupid bark left, and I'm breaking off little bits here and there. How do I convince myself that I don't NEED it! I'm just so annoyed with myself right now.

I better pop in my exercise DVD. I bought the WW "Get Moving mix" exercise DVD at my last meeting, anyone else have this? I'll let you all know how it is after my workout. Although in all honesty I feel like crashing right now....I just hate Mondays. :o

Thanks for the new thread!

I put this in the old thread but I was at the very end before the new one - I only went down .2 last week. DH and I have a challenge with my ILs and they are beating us by around 2 lbs. We need to get on the ball!

I am trying not to eat after 8:00 pm from now on. I usually stay up late and I end up eating cereal or something. It's not horrible, but I don't need to eat it and I think I would have better WI results if I stopped eating after dinner.

Ah, a new thread... hopefully I'll be more active in this one than I was in the last one! I am trying desperately hard to get back on program after two weeks traveling for work, but it's rough - I just want comfort food, now that I'm working 12-14 hours a day. But I'm bringing Lean Cuisines and veggies with me to the client sites so I can at least guarantee two good meals a day (I can't leave the house without breakfast). And two days in a row (which is a big deal for me and DH!) DH and I have hit the gym at 5:45am - I wouldn't say I'm actually awake at that time, but after 45 minutes cardio, at least the blood is flowing! Hoping to make it twice more this week and get out and do something on the weekend - I need to make activity much more a part of my life.

My Wi is tomorrow and I'm afraid to see the damage, as I am already 21, yes thats right, 21 points OVER my weekly allowance and flex points. I can't wait to get my kitchen back! !!
In addition, AF arrived yesterday, so tomorrow's number ought to be interesting...

Congrats to all the big losers this week! I'm down another 0.8, for a total of 6.2 lbs. I'm happy considering I ate big dinners Friday and Saturday (Saturday was first time at a restaurant since starting WW) and only got on our elliptical once. This week, TOM comes, but my goal is to get on the elliptical 3x and eat smart at the Superbowl party Sunday.

Hey ladies!

I'm considering joining WW online and had a question for you pros out there...
What is the difference between the Flex Plan and the Core Plan?
What are the pros and cons of each one, and which one would you recommend? I'm really new at all this and have no idea which plan to choose.

Also, what does TOM stand for?

Thanks! :D

Dettes
02-01-2007, 08:26 AM
Congrats Irisheyes. Doesn't it feel great to see the numbers on the scale go down?

Clubqueen I've been doing WW online for two weeks now and I love it. I'm doing the flex plan and I really like that you can eat all sorts of food as long as you stay within your points range. I can't comment on the core plan as I am not that familiar with it.

Ok, I had my WI today and, despite consuming 21 points above my weekly allowance including flex points, I still managed to drop another 2.5 lbs for a total loss of 7lbs. A little scary because I've gone over my allowance last week and this week and still lost. I can only imagine how many points I was consuming before I started keeping track. My current weight is 150.5, which has motivated me to stay on track and kick butt this week - the 140s are in sight!!!

emmjay
02-01-2007, 12:32 PM
Clubqueen - the difference is that with Flex you get a certain number of points per day based on your weight, plus 35 points to use whenever you want during the week. You can eat anything you want as long as you stay within your points range.

With Core, there is a list of "core foods" that you can eat without counting points. You still get 35 extra points to use throughout the week for any foods not on the Core list. You are supposed to pay attention to how satiated you are and never stuff yourself with the core foods. I am doing core and I really like it. It is hard to overeat the core foods and it means I'm eating healthy, natural foods rather than anything processed.

B]What is the difference between the Flex Plan and the Core Plan?[/B]
What are the pros and cons of each one, and which one would you recommend? I'm really new at all this and have no idea which plan to choose.
There's a whole thread in here where gals following CORE can discuss things. That might be a good place to ask your questions. My leader happens to love Core! Me, I think I use my Flex points too much to really do well on Core.

I had WI today, I was down .4 - I'm a little bummed, but considering the choices I made last night (half a glass of wine, a rum & diet, and some Indian food) I'm not surprised. I actually toyed with doing WI on Friday instead, but decided to just suck it up.

oops, I thought I did link to it. It's in this forum, just search for it (it just fell below the radar since it hasn't had activity in over 30 days - change your viewing options - lower left corner - to a longer time frame). Or you can pop into the WW sticky, I have it linked there.

Congrats to all the losers this week!

I am down 1 lb this week for WK4 total of 8.8lbs. I was happy to see the scale go down as I have had 2 rough nights over the past two days :( I am a stress eater and work is kicking my butt! I was probably 20 pts over this week, but I may have been overestimating our dinner out on Saturday. Either way I am glad to see the number go down and I would have been happy maintaining this week.

What is everyone's plan for the Super Bowl this weekend? Although I would love to be going to a get together we are watching at home. At least this way I will be in control of what we are having...but I know we will be using a fair amount of flex points on Sunday.

Hey everyone! People have been busy losing :)

I decided to change WI to Thursdays, so I got on the scale yesterday (after an emotionally food filled day on Wednesday :o ) and it was 139  I got back on this morning and it was 135.6, so things evened out a bit... so I'm thinking I should change my weight...

Congrats to all the losers this week! It feels pretty great, doesn't it?! I seriously don't know what I was waiting for before I started WW. I feel like I have so much more energy and I love veggies now...and I have no problem with my DD eating off of my plate at dinner time now since it is all healthy foods. :)

Superbowl party -All I have on my list is hummus and veggies. I still need to come up with other foods. I did see a recipe for sweet potatoe chips from the WW website that I might try.

Hey there, I am new to this forum... I joined WW about 5 weeks ago (I go to the meetings) and I have lost almost 10 pounds so far! I am doing flex but haven't tracked this week for some reason (laziness) but I think I am doing ok... we shall see, WI is on Tuesday.

Oh, help! I'm trying to figure the points for my lunch and am failing. I went to Red Robin - they don't have nutritional info on their website, Dietfacts doesn't list them, and DWLZ only has the sandwich with fries, and I can't work backwards! I had the teriyaki chicken sandwich (grilled chicken breast, whole wheat bun, lettuce, tomato, two slices pineapple, teriyaki sauce, I "held" the mayo and cheese) and I had a garden salad with honey mustard on the side (I would guesstimate I used maybe 1tsp of dressing - I dip my fork rather than pour the dressing onto the salad). I'm figuring 8 for the sandwich and 2 for the salad with dressing? Anyone care to take a stab at points?

WI today...down a pound! Amazing, since I did some stress eating this week. Bad, I know. But I also took out some stress on the treadmill.

Starting weight: 179.6
Current Weight: 143.2
Total lost: 36.4

Ack! I am 5 pounds away from goal!

julesp313- ohhhh, Red Robin is one of my favorite places. And I'm meeting a friend there for lunch today, incidentally. It's so hard to figure out points. Do you have one of the WW point books, or access to eTools? When I had the turkey burger there, I had to 'deconstruct' the sandwich and figure out points separately. For the turkey burger on a whole wheat roll, no cheese or condiments other than mustard, lettuce, tomato & onion, it was something like 10 points.

I would guess you're in the ballpark with a 8-10 point estimate for the chicken sandwich. I wonder though if there's any websites other than dwlz that have nutrition info? My favorite at Red Robin is the guacamole bacon burger. And I probably DON'T want to know how many points that is!

cheryll_with_2els
02-03-2007, 09:44 AM
Jules and Chefker: When I can't find the specific NI for a restaurant, I also "deconstruct" and figure out the points for each item. Another good site to do that is Calorie King (http://www.calorieking.com). I also use DietFacts (http://www.dietfacts.com) a lot, but I don't think Red Robin is on there either.

Good job on the losses, ladies!!!

julesp313
02-03-2007, 01:17 PM
Chefker - I think deconstructing the lunch was a wise idea, though I have no clue how many pts the sauce was. I counted lunch as 12, which I think was safe. I wish it was federal law that all restaurants had to provide nutritional info - it would make WW so much easier! Congrats on your loss - 5lbs from goal is amazing!
Cheryll - I hadn't tried Calorie King but DietFacts doesn't have Red Robin, sadly. I don't go there often but when I do, I try to make wise choices - I don't always suceed!

I WI today and was down 0.8lbs, which is what I was up last week - big sigh. Still, I am hanging in there - I refuse to quit, which is what I would normally do when the scale goes up and down ad nauseum. Our leader challenged us to make just one change this week, so I went to the grocery store and got veggies for the WW soup, which I made while I made DH pancakes (he is one of those nasty people, aka men, who can eat what they like and not suffer the consequences). So now I have 10 servings of soup that I plan to eat throughout the week, probably as an "appetizer" so that my meal is a lot smaller. We'll see how that helps!

ETA: CalorieKing doesn't have Red Robin either. What is with that place not sharing it's NI? Honestly...

WI today - up .4.

Yesterday I weighed myself and I had gained 7 lbs! Then today I was only up .4. WTF?? I am pissed because I worked out 5 days this week and I was good with eating Core foods. I don't know how I didn't lose anything. Oh well, on to another week!

Crap, I went a little further over on my points than I'd like. I can clean up some of them with a workout since I've yet to do one. But I also still need a dinner. I'm thinking that I'd like something under 5 points (and not a frozen dinner, though I do have that option).

Any suggestions?

emmjay
02-04-2007, 09:25 PM
Katy - I have a WW cookbook that has a ton of recipes for 5 pts or less. What kind of ingredients do you have on hand? Or were you going to go to the store?

Katy
02-04-2007, 09:32 PM
Emmjay, I was thinking, since it's already 8:30 (we eat late here), that I just wanted something quick and easy. Think cereal, protein something or other, yogurt and whatever. How lame am I :o (lame, I know, I know)

jennylou
02-04-2007, 09:38 PM
Katy - how about an egg white omelette with one slice of American cheese. If you have some veggies, you can throw those in as well. Easy and low in points.

jennylou
02-04-2007, 09:40 PM
I'm trying to keep my supply up. Usually I have a few points left over at the end of the day. I was thinking that it might be nice to make some oatmeal cookies - I asked over in the WW recipe thread (C&E-Recipes) if anyone had any good (WW friendly, obviously) recipes.

emmjay
02-04-2007, 09:42 PM
You could do a smoothie with yogurt and fruit and a bit of fruit juice.

Or eggs - those are good for quick dinners. You could make an omelette in like 10 minutes with a couple of eggs and whatever veggies you have on hand. Eggs + frozen spinach + ff feta is a good combo.

Or cereal with yogurt - I eat that a lot. That + some fruit would be less than 5 pts for sure.

Does that help at all? Or have I consigned you to a frozen dinner? ;)

emmjay
02-04-2007, 09:49 PM
jennylou - luckily I have my WW cookbook handy! I have a WW recipe for Apple-Oatmeal cookies if you want:

1 1/2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats, toasted until lightly browned
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 apple, peeled, cored and coarsely grated
1 large egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup + 2 tbsp raisins

1. Preheat the oven to 350°; spray 2 baking sheets with nonstick spray (don't spray if baking sheets are nonstick)

2. In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.

3. In a medium bowl, with electric mixer on high speed, cream the brown sugar and butter until pale and fluffy. Add the apple, egg and vanilla; beat until combined. Add the oats mixture; stir to blend, then stir in the raisins.

4. Drop the dough by tablespoons onto the baking sheets, forming 12 cookies on each sheet; flatten with the back of a spoon. Bake until lightly browned, 12-15 mins.

2 points each (2 cookies)
122 calories, 4 g fat, 2 g fiber

Thanks ladies! As I expected, I was famished after the workout so I'm going with super quick and easy...a yogurt smoothie (1), and English Muffin (2) and some peanut butter (2.5). It works :o In my defense I had a good lunch (which was where a chunk of my points went and why I'm not crazy hungry).

Thank you emmjay for that recipe, I'm going to bake some later today, I think! 2 points for two is perfect, when I have extra points in the evenings to spare, I can have cookies! Yay for cookies that help give your supply an extra boost. :)

Hello everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining you :)

I joined WW online last Monday and did my first WI this morning. I have a loss of 4.2 pounds. I'm pretty amazed that I had such quick results and it makes me realize just how badly I must have been eating. I really like the online program because I can keep track of the points I'm using up all throughout the day on their Points Tracker.

My start weight was 166 ( I too have gained a good 30 pounds since I met my husband :p )
I'm currently at 161.8

Hi Ladies,

I'm going to jump in here, too, if that's ok. I just joined WW about 2 weeks ago. I'm down 3 pounds so far. I had a baby in July and am trying to lose the last 10 pounds I gained and then the weight I wanted to lose before I got pg  . Total I'd like to lose 25-30 pounds. I've never done WW before. I am doing the online program and so far I really like it. I'm actually learning a lot. It makes me see exactly what I take in each day, which is just what I need.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone. And I apologize in advance for all my annoying questions I'm sure I will have.

:)

Welcome Karen and Lana! This is a wonderful group of ladies and we are happy to have you along for our journey.

WI today and I am down another pound, for a total of 12lbs gone in 5 weeks. I am thrilled! I haven't seen that number on my scale in a long time. :)

jennylou

Thank you for the welcome everyone!

And welcome to Karen! I'm glad I'm not the only newbie in here :) I'd also like to lose around 25-30 pounds.

Congrats everyone on the weight they've lost so far.

Question: Did WW give you your goal weight or did you decide it on your own? Do you agree with your goal weight?

I joined online and they automatically calculated my goal weight as 124. I always thought that the weight I felt best at was around 130-135 since it was where my body wanted to be at for so long. Should I actually try for the weight goal they gave me or stick with my personal goal?

Chylynn
02-06-2007, 05:26 PM
Lana -I went with my own goal and I decided when the time comes and I am down to that goal, if I want to continue to their recommended goal, then I would. But, I was at this weight before and it was perfect for my body. I figure that I know my body more than WW does, know what I mean?

Lanapoo, don't worry about the goal until you get closer. You can have your doctor write you a prescription to change it.

Hello ladies! WI today, I lost another 3 pounds. :D I'm down 27 pounds since starting on 12/27/06. My original thought on starting it was a sort of 6 week body makeover, I debated on which diet to use. In the end, I'm thrilled that I picked WW. :) I don't feel restricted, as I do on other diets. Sure, I might say I can't eat something, but I can usually find a lower cal/lower fat version that can substitute just fine for me.

cheryll - I think you WI today too - how'd you do?

Wow, Jennylou thats amazing! Keep it up!

Lana -WW set my goal at 124, but I think I'll be happy at 135. We'll see as I get closer. WW does say that they set your goal as the MINIMUM recommended weight for your height and age. Good luck!

Thanks for thinking of me Jenny and congrats on the huge loss! You're doing so good!!! Yes, I think you and I are WI partners now. :)

My WI was this morning and I was down -0.7 -- for a total of 84.4 lbs. gone. Getting closer to that 85 lbs. gone mark! :) I'm happy with this week's loss since it was the week after TOM and I usually see a small gain. As long as the scale is going DOWN, I'm pleased. I realize that the closer I get to goal and the less I have to lose, the slower the losses will be. Gotta keep my head in the right place. :)

Wow! Congratulations Jenny and Cheryll for your weight loss! You both are doing so great.

Thank you all for weighing in (ha, I'm such a dork :p ) on my goal weight internal debate. I think I'll wait and see but the lowest I think I'll go is 130. All of this may be moot of course since DH and I are trying to get pregnant again, hopefully with a sticky baby this time. But in the meantime I really want to concentrate on getting healthier.

Another goofy question: Does everyone weigh themselves just once a week at WI or do you weigh yourself throughout the week too?

I'm having a hard time staying away from the scale because I really want to see if I'm still losing.

Chylynn
02-07-2007, 11:43 AM
Lana -I weigh myself daily. I like to keep myself in line and know how I am doing throughout the week. Sometimes I fluctuate, but for the most part, it stays the same until the end of the week and then it goes down a pound or two.

Lana - I'm the same way. I weight throughout the week just to get a grasp on how I am doing.

jennylou
02-07-2007, 11:49 AM
Lana - I weigh every day, but only take my Wednesday WI as official - so I never count it until then. I tend to notice a drop on Thurs/Fri, creep up on Saturday/Sunday and then a drop over the next two days down to the lowest weight on Thurs/Fri. I like weighing every day though, because I think it keeps me on track. If I notice the scale doing something outside of the norm I have going on, I can look at my food log right away to see what I might need to change up.

smile78

Ditto what the others have said... I weigh every day just to check in about where I am at. I only count my actual WI days as my weight tracking

JennW
02-08-2007, 06:06 AM
Listening to you all, maybe I should start WI more often. I always wait until the actual day but by the time a week goes by I often have my hopes up and get dissapointed. But, on the other hand, if I do it more often and see I'm not losing I may get discouraged. It's that waiting to weigh in thing that probably keeps me on track.

jennylou

Jenn - try weighing one extra time during the week to keep you motivated and see how it goes. :)

Welcome karen and lana!

Goal - WW set my goal just about where I would like to be, but we'll see once I get down there...

WI's - I usually weigh myself everyday, just habit I guess. Like others have said, it can be a motivational tool - to see if I need to adjust anything for the remainder of the week.

Congrats on the losses everyone!! WI was today for me and I'm down 4.4. I changed my WI day to Thursday and it was wicked high last week. I weighed myself again on Friday and it was lower, but I decided to keep Thursday's weight. Next week's WI should be more "normal".

9 pages already? Wow, I'm missing out.

Good News: Official WI is today but the boys and I are sick so I'm not going to the gym. According to my home scale which is fluctuates as much as 4lbs depending on where it is on the floor, I'm down another lb to 166.

Bad News: I just lost 2 points. I'm down from 24 to 22. That seems like a lot but hopefully, it's what I need to speed up the process.

Some amazing losses going on in here... it's so great to hear all those success stories!

Me - I hopped on the scale this morning and it's up nearly a pound since WI on Saturday. That sucks, bc I've been to the gym three days so far and stayed in my points (eating APs but no FPs) every day. Bloody frustrating. Though what often happens with me, I see no loss for one week and then a bigger loss the next week. I really need to shake things up though so I'll be asking at the meeting for advice. If anyone here has suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Silly question, but when do you know that you need to reduce the points? I know I calculated it the beginning... but do you just recalculate every so often to see if you are still at the point range that you are supposed to be in?

Thanks!

What is up with my scale!? This morning when I woke up, I weighed myself (still wearing jammies), and I weighed 142.9. I got dressed in a pair of jeans and a light shirt. I re-weighed myself just a few minutes later and weighed 144-something. There's no way my clothing weighed a POUND. Bah.

I guess this is why they say you should only weigh yourself once a day, huh. ;)

This week has been rough. Had a little cold which has now turned into a sinus infection, so I took a few days off from exercise--for which I feel HORRIBLY guilty--but I'm so tired and icky feeling.

Official WI tomorrow. I'll be glad if I simply stay the same and not gain. Losing anything would be nice!

Rene: There's no such thing as "only"! :) A lb. is a lb., and they all add up. Congrats on the lb. gone, and congrats on 11 lbs. gone!!!

Try not looking at the big picture because that can be overwhelming. I do this 5 lbs. at a time. Then I do it another 5 lbs. at a time. It's totally doable that way! :)

3 lbs! Whoa. Well, I'm not going to go to a meeting in jammies, but maybe my nylon track pants are nice and lightweight. :)

WI today (didn't wear jeans, either!) I am down 1.1 pounds. Amazing to me, since I took a few days off from running/exercise due to a cold.

Starting weight: 179.6
Current weight: 142.1
Total lost: 37.5

Forty pounds gone, here I come! I'm rethinking my goal weight--124 is my ultimate goal, and that seems too daunting, like it'd be WAY too hard to get to that number. I think I would be quite comfortable at 130-135. 135 is my 'offiical' goal with WW anyway.

WI today - down 1.4 for a total of 13lbs in 16 weeks. Eh. I know I should be thrilled that I have 13lbs less to lug around but it seems so slow - mind you, that was with five or six weeks of losing and gaining the same damn 2lbs, so in reality, it's good. Down is down, right?

I started back yesterday. I hit goal last year (7/2005) the same day I found out I was pregnant!!:) So since my DD is turning 1 in a few weeks I figured I would go back and lose the rest of this baby weight. I guess I can't use the excuse that I just had a baby anymore!

I do only have 4.8 lbs to lose to hit my goal, but I would like to take off some more.

I recently got a WW scale, and I love it.. Don't know the model number but Costco just started carrying them (don't know if you have one near you). They are reg. 29.95, but I had a Costco coupon for $10 off, which made it an even better deal.. Ive looked online and it regularly sells for about 50 bucks. It has 4 user settings to keep track of how much you lost, and what your goal is, and it weighs to a tenth of a lb... HTH :)

Okay so WI isn't until Monday but yesterday and today I'm up .6 and I'm getting discouraged. I'm sticking with my points, using a few flexies but not too many. I haven't been exercising all that much so it can't be muscle gain. I'm just wondering what I can do to still have a loss by Monday. I had a few glasses of champagne on Wed and some last weekend too. Could the alcohol be sabotaging me?

Yay! Another 2.5 gone! :) I'm down 12.2 since Jan 1st so it has been a little slow but steady and I've never posted a gain so that is good! I was hoping to fit into my cute little bikini for our trip to Cabo San Lucas next week, but I just don't think its gonna happen! It fits, but I still feel a little rolly polly for it! But I'm feeling better about myself and fitting into my pants again so that is all great news. I hope to lose another 12lbs, then I would be right about 155 which I feel really good at... When we got married I was at that weight and right between a size 8 and 10, which I was really happy with... Then if I can just maintain... ;)

WI today and down 1.5 pounds. I am really happy with that b/c being Valentine's day and AF was around, I was sure I had gained. So I'm not complaining. That puts me at 5.5 lbs gone! I would like to lose another 10 by 3/31. I have a huge family party to attend that night so that is my incentive!

Hi all. I just have a question :)

I am kind of toying with the idea of doing WW either online, or just on my own with the magical power of the internet. If you sign up online, do you have to pick Flex or Core or whatever and stay with it the entire time you do it or can you try one and if it doesn't work or you don't like it, try the other?

You can switch from Core to Flex at anytime while on WW online.. I am doing it online with the Core program and am loving it!

I am SOOOO excited. They're starting a Weight Watchers at Work program where I work part-time - AND it's on Tuesdays, so I can do it easily. They sent an email around yesterday asking people to reply if they were interested and, if so, what days/times would be good. I did, and was pleased to see a new email this morning that the decided-upon day is Tuesdays. Yay!

When I left my last job after my daughter was born, one of the few things I knew I'd miss a lot was that they had a WW @ Work program. I had done it before I got pregnant and lost 13 pounds. I hadn't done it since DD was born, but I really want to (and NEED to) get back into it. For some reason, I respond really well to it. I've never dieted in my life before this - though I should have - and for some reason, WW just works for me. I had looked into off-site possibilities but the closest meeting to me was a couple of towns away and not convenient time-wise. I also do use the website a LOT when I do the program, so I could have just joined online, but for me, for some reason, I *need* the weekly meetings - I think that's the part I respond to so well. (Make sense, since that's sort of how WW was developed, on the premise that support is a good thing and helpful and motivational.)

So I'm very excited! Registration day is Tuesday, March 6th, and then we'll start after that!!! :-) I can't wait! And the timing couldn't be more interesting.... I started WW @ Work the last time a few months before I got pregnant with DD, in preparation to get pregnant - to get in better shape and lose weight before I carried a pregnancy. We're now considering TTC #2 starting this June or July, so hopefully I'll do as well on it as I did last time - and this time, I may even stay on it when I'm pregnant! We'll see.

My WI was this morning, and I was down -0.9 lbs. I'm heaving a HUGE sigh of relief because this past weekend I had a MAJOR food debacle. We went away for the weekend and for three days....count them....ONE, TWO, THREE....I did not track anything. I counted ZERO points. (And I think you guys know me well enough now to know that I just don't do that. This was the first time since starting WW 10 months ago that this has happened.) We took the laptop and I had planned on using it to track my points and look up restaurant info, etc. But when we got to the hotel room, the internet access wasn't working. Since I knew I had the laptop, I hadn't printed out anything. So there went my best of intentions. And it just went downhill from there. I ate VERY bad.....you should have seen DH's eyes when I ate the cinnamon roll that was as big as the plate. :D I do think that all the walking we did helped in some small way.

So I got right back on track Monday morning, started guzzling water, and last night I worked out to my 4 mile WATP DVD. I know how my body works and how it loses around my monthly cycle. This past week was THE week that I would have had a large loss. So.......I will suck it up and accept it. There's always next month. :)

And for today, I'm celebrating 87 lbs. gone. :)

Cheryll ...and you still lost! Thats great! I know the eating badly feeling all too well, I decided last night that I would be giving up ice cream (my nemesis) for Lent, so, logicially in my mind, I was foced to eat all THREE WW chocolate covered ice cream pops that were left in the freezer in order to get them out of the house. Yet another week that I have gone over my weekly allowance and flex points. I'm not looking foreard to WI tomorrow. I'll be happy not to have gained anything.

Lanapoo
02-21-2007, 11:05 AM
Carrie - Yup, if you want to be on Core one week and then Flex the next you can do that online.

Twinny - How awesome that your work is doing WW! I wish my company would do that. Although I certainly have inspired my coworkers lately. They always ask me, how many points is this or that?

Cheryll - Congratulations on 87 pounds gone! That is so great. I think we all need a break from counting every once in awhile. As long as you don't beat yourself up about it and get back on program then I don't think it's a big deal. I say this because I totally didn't count over the weekend either :o

Dettes - Too funny about the ice cream :p

hi All,
Congrats on your progress! :) I'm just looking to lose the weight I gained over the holidays and halt my current snacking ADDICTION. Seriously, it is bad and I'm afraid of it becoming a slippery slope like it has in the past.
I have a points calculator and I'm very familiar with WW as I've been a member online before, so I feel l can do it on my own now without spending $70 on another 3-month online subscription. For those doing it on your own, can you direct me to a template that you use to track your points? Or did you just make up your own? I'm good with excel, so I guess I can just make my own, but didn't know if there was a great one somewhere out there already in existence.

TIA.

Oh - and for those struggling with "only losing one pound", when I had gone to WW meetings in the past, our leader would tell us to take four sticks of butter out of your fridge and look at that fat that is literally no longer on your body. It really helped me to stay inspired with that visual.

Katy

Glad I could help! :) That was about 8 years ago and I still remember those words of wisdom to this day. Of course, WW doesn't like it when you lose more than 2 pounds in a weeks time, so along with their congratulations the website told me that I was losing weight too fast  I think my body was just making up for some water weight that I was holding onto last week because of AF.

I'm happy with the 2 pounds, especially since it was over a vacation. :D TL since 12/27/06 = 35 pounds. Well, after gaining and losing the same 5 lbs for a whole month and a half I went back to meetings yesterday and decided to give Flex a try (I've always done Core). I'm looking for the quiz that tells you how many points you get? Anyone know where it is? I thought it was on the first page of this thread but I don't see it now. Well, as suspected, I was back up again yesterday. Up, down, up, down... so very very frustrating. In the past, this is where I quit - but I'm being so bloody-minded and stubborn this time, I'm sticking with the meetings and I am absolutely determined to get past this. I'm giving Core a try this week as I think on Flex, I've been sticking to my points but eating crap. Core forces you to eat better, I think, so we'll see. But man, I really just want to get that scale moving downwards again, even if it's only tiny amounts each week. I know this works - I just have to convince my body it's Ok to let go of all that fat it's held on to for years!

Well, I'm back from vacation and was expecting about 2-3lb gain just from the drinks! (We were in Mexico for 4 days, and visiting my family the weekend before for a wedding) I tried to be decent, not gorge myself, but I knew it would be to hard to be completly strict like I said mostly because of the margaritas and pina coladas! But when we got back I hopped on the scale the next am (Friday) and amazingly had lost .5lb!! I was really thrilled :) I was back on the Core plan that day, went to the gym today and will get back to regular weekly weigh-ins starting tomorrow.

Jules~ I agree, Core makes you eat much healthier. I had done the Flex program a few times before the Core came out and done well on it, but still didn't actually eat that well, other than controlling my portions. I thought it would be much harder for me to do Core cause I don't do well with restrictions on food ;) But with the 35 pts to use per week, I can still get my little treats in there while eating much healthier.

03-05-2007, 05:09 PM
I recommitted today as well. I am so frustrated - I am just not losing weight. I don't know if it's hormonal or what. Anyway, I decided to change my mindset and concentrate on other stuff.

Eating: 3 meals + 2 snacks per day, and 2 liters of water. Primarily Core foods, of course! I am still following the plan, just without the scale. Oh, and no eating after dinner.

Exercise: working out 5 - 6 days per week, and start wearing a pedometer so I can get to 10k steps per day. Also walking to do my errands when possible (grocery store, post office, library).

I figure if I'm doing those things, I will at least be getting healthier even if I'm not losing any lbs. I am going to ignore my scale for a while, I think. It's pissing me off.

Today was my weigh in and I lost 3.4 this week. And it was my hungry week of the month so I ate all my daily points + 30 flex points! I'm really liking Flex for a change, I'm 0.2 lb away from my 25 lb magnet, so hopefully that'll be next week, and in two more weeks, I'll reach lifetime.

I did it! I (re)joined Weight Watcher's today. I'm on a mission to lose as much weight as (healthfully) possible by the end of the year, so I can move forward with TTC early next year.

I really enjoyed the meeting today, particularly the leader. I haven't been with WW since 2002. That was my second round, and it was terribly unsuccessful. I just wasn't ready to go back then. My first round (Jan 1998- Jan 2000) I lost 85 lbs and reached Lifetime.

I'm ready again now. I think it'll "click" again.

congrats to all of you. I have WI today and only lost .2 pounds. I have been horrible these last two weeks. I have not been tracking and I think that is to blame. But I am whole heartedly back on plan today... tracking everything! The good news is I haven't gained!

Hello everyone! :D I think I joined this thread, but I'm not on CC as much as I used to be, so I'm just dropping in to say that I've thankfully lost 7 pounds since the beginning of the year! :D Every pound is a hard won battle, so i'm proud of each and every 112 ounces that i've lost so far! :D I weigh in on Fridays, so i can update after that!

Every mama here is doing simply fantabulous!!! :D

Still around! I haven't posted in here much lately, since I've been holding steady at 141-142 for what seems like forever. Probably just about a month, I've been maintaining this weight, and I'm a little bummed because I am SO close to goal! Just 7 pounds to go.

I'm annoyed with my doctor now, too. Saw her yesterday for a checkup, and while she did congratulate me on my weight loss, she recommended I lose 20 more pounds. Seriously, I can see losing 7 more to get to goal--maybe even 10 more, but 20 pounds more would make me 120-122, and I KNOW that weight is too low for me. The problem is, my doctor is basing my ideal weight on a height of 5'4". I'm NOT 5'4", I'm 5'6"! I don't know how she's measuring my height, but I didn't just suddenly shrink 2 inches. That 2 inches makes a big difference on those weight charts.

So my doctor says I should aim for a BMI of 20-22. Now 20 is the absolute MINIMUM BMI per Weight Watchers, I don't see what's wrong with my current BMI of 23. WW says that a BMI of 20-25 is considered to be healthy.

Sorry to vent in here, I was just really frustrated with my doctor. While I do want to lose a FEW more pounds, I don't agree with her that I need to lose TWENTY more pounds.

just stopping in to say that I am on day 5 of the diet and doing great! I think. The fact that my mom is doing it with me is a huge help. We had pizza and mozz sticks last night and I was soo good! It was hard. I can't wait to get weight on Sat! Now I just have to get to the gym :)

Congrats to all on the awesome losses!

My WI was this morning, and I lost -1.7, for a total of 86.1 lbs. gone forever. And, for the first time ever since starting WW, I ate ALL my FPs. I love the Wendie Plan. :)

Cheryll,

Do you follow the Wendie plan the way that she has it outlined on her website? Or do you just have one or two days that you have Super High Days? I am going to try it this week, but I wanted to get your thoughts on it.

Cheryll,

Do you follow the Wendie plan the way that she has it outlined on her website? Or do you just have one or two days that you have Super High Days? I am going to try it this week, but I wanted to get your thoughts on it.

rene': I follow it pretty closely as it's outlined on the website. For example, I get 20 points a day (just went down a point yesterday:o ), and here's my schedule:

Day 1 (Wed) - 20
Day 2 (Thu) - 25 (HD)
Day 3 (Fri) - 21
Day 4 (Sat) - 35 (SHD)
Day 5 (Sun) - 20
Day 6 (Mon) - 24 (HD)
Day 7 (Tue) - 22

My WI day is Wed., so the SHD on Sat. is far enough away that I shouldn't show a food-weight gain.

I don't follow the schedule exactly, however. I always eat at least my target points. But, for instance, if on Wed. I'm feeling hungrier and need some flex points, I don't hesitate to eat some, even though it's basically a "target only" day. And vice versa, if on a semi-high day I'm not that hungry but the schedule says to eat 25 points, I don't hesitate to not eat the extra on that day. The one thing I really do try to do is have the SHD, which I think is the key to boosting your metablism and getting that inner furnace to burning hotter. I really look forward to my Saturdays because I know I can eat more, maybe something I've been craving during the week, and still be totally OP.

Hope that helps. I didn't start using Wendie for a plateau because I haven't hit one yet. <knocking on wood> I'm just doing it to keep my body guessing so it WON'T plateau.

Thanks Cheryll. In the past, when I have tried to lose weight. I did notice that I would see a loss after having a very bad eating day that week. So, I definately think this will work.

I am changing my WI days to Thursdays so that my SHD will be on Sunday. That should work.

Thanks for the info and congrats on the 150's! I hope I am there with you one of these days!

Congrats once again to you cheryll and to smile and Mrs Tim Keep it up.

I had WI today and I lost another 3 lbs and hit my 10% goal!! I am psyched! I would have liked to have made the 130s this week since we are leaving for a mini vacation tomorrow, where I know my diet will be sabotaged, but I'll take 141. I'll just have to work that much harder when I get home. Have a great weekend losers;)

Well, the Wendie plan worked for me this week! Last Friday, I indulged in a small Frosty and then had 3 pieces of pizza for dinner. (That was 12 flex points I used, I think.) Then I was more or less within my daily points for the rest of the week and I lost 3 lbs at WI last night, so I'm down a total of 13.2. (I did get in four trips on the elliptical, which didn't hurt.)

Congrats Dettes and IrishEyes!

Does anyone know if 1 oz. of cream cheese is equal to 1 tbsp? The only points I can find for cream cheese is 1 point for 1 tbsp but the amount I have is 1 oz. I don't know how many points it is.

Please help!:o

I just typed in "cream cheese" in the points tracker, and then clicked on just cream cheese (there are several different types), and then you get a drop down box where you can select oz. -- 1 oz. is 3 pts.

Thanks Cheryll. Is that on weightwatchers online? Do you have to be an online member to have access to that?

cheryll_with_2els
03-09-2007, 09:11 AM
Yes, it's part of the online membership. Or, if you go to meetings, you get it as part of e-tools (you pay extra for it). I would be totally lost without my points tracker.

Also, Calorie King (http://calorieking.com) is a really good place to look up foods.

Oh I wanted to tell you all about the new Fiber One Bars!! They are really yummy and only 2 points. They are sticky, chocolately (or peanut buttery) and just delicious!!!

Ive only tried chocolate because walmart was out of the peanut butter, but Ive heard PB are even better than chocolate.

Great job to the losers! :D
Jenn keep at it, just think, with two weeks of no loss next week should be a fabulous weigh-in (as long as you stay in your points range!)

I WI today and I'm down another .2 for a total of 5 pounds since starting WW and 7 pounds total. Earlier this week I was at 144.4, but was back at 145 this morning. Gym tonight and watching portion sizes all week. I'm kicking into high gear!! :D

Congrats everyone on their losses!!! I'm back on track this week with a loss of 1.4 pounds.

Hang in there Jenn, I didn't lose anything last week either. I bet you'll be down next week for sure!

Finally I saw a decent loss - down 1.8 this week. I've been up and down the same couple of pounds for nearly three months, but this is the first time in my checkered WW past (probably 10 times starting and quitting) that I didn't quit - I just stuck it out, got back to the gym, and hung in there. Man, that was hard but I *know* WW works if I just work it!

Congrats to everyone on their losses - still a source of inspiration!

Well I guess I'm bowing out once again until next year - I'm pg again. Too bad it's so early, or I could use that as my excuse for why I haven't lost any weight in the past 2 months. ;)

Hope you all keep up the great losses!
