Weigh-in this morning was better than I had expected, I lost .5! Which I was happy with considering my bad week! It was my daughters 3rd birthday, so there was family in town, cake and lots of food which I wasn't that good at staying away from. But I am back on it this week, and I am really going to be strict on my points and getting into the gym cause my trainer said we will do 6wk measurements on Sunday! At 3wks I lost 5.25" so I'm hoping this Sunday will have some more good numbers!
Congrats Ally on meeting your goal!! :)
Greenbunny, I totally understand! This is like my 4th time on the program in 4 years! The first 2 worked great until I got pg, and I had kinda tried off/on after my youngest daughter was born but I wasn't into it and like you said wasting my money. Hope things slow down soon and you are able to get back on track to where you want to be! ;)

Hi everyone! I've just started doing WW on my own. I'm getting used to counting points and planning ahead when I go out to eat. But what do you ladies do when you go on vacation? DH and I went out of town for two days, and I was SO BAD! Do you try to keep up with your points, and if so how do you do it when you are out of your usual environment? Thanks, and congrats to all of you who are doing so well. I hope to one day be among you!

Congrats to all the losers! To everyone else struggling, I feel you.
I just keep tellling myself I'm striving for a long term healthier lifestyle in addition to weight loss!
I lost 2 pounds this week, I think the extra exercise is helping!
SW before program: 208
SW: 203.0
CW: 166.0
TL on program: -37
TL: 42
Current Goal: 160
I know others have asked/answered this before, but do you eat all your AP points? Do you have to eat them that day (or you lose them right)?

I want to have a personal goal for Christmas Day. What is a reasonable goal by Christmas? I want to lose 40-50 lbs total.
WI sucked. Lost 0.2, after eating well and all the exercise this week - 20 AP! I am getting very frustrated, after 9 weeks I've only lost 7.6 lbs. I'm not being unrealistic, but I expected to have lost at least 10 by now, but would have liked closer to 15. I have tried eating my points different ways - eating my FP, not eating my FP, eating AP, not eating them, eating FP but not AP, eating AP but not FP. I just don't know what to do anymore.

I'm sorry Sue. I am in the same boat. I am following the plan, working out like crazy and nothing is happening. I lost under 10 pounds in FIVE months and gained 5 back even though I am following the plan. I'm sorry you're dealing with similar stresses. I keep plugging on but I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Sue & Jenn Im with you guys. I started WW in jan and stayed OP until mid may and only lost 6lbs! I was working out and getting my water in and it just wont come off. I was discouraged but stayed with it, until the end of May then I stopped following WW and have been busy and stressed with life. I have to figure something else out.
My mom wants to do Nutrisystem but its like $350 per month! So i will be looking for some program I can do. I had NO problem on WW before my wedding, but since having my son its just not working for me.
Im still lurking here and wish the best to all of those who it is working for.
HUGS and best of luck!
Jenn & Dan's*Girl it's nice to know I'm not alone! Last summer when I did WW, I lost 15 lbs. pretty easily and quickly - it worked like it's supposed to! I don't know what else I can do or try with WW to make it work again. I'm going to give it until the end of the month, after that I just don't know... I need to follow something, know what I mean?

Jen, Sue and Dan's Girl - have any of you tried the WW core program? I remember Dan's Girl posted a sample of what she was eating awhile back, and I would encourage each of you to do the same. At the time, I thought Dan's Girl was eating too much processed foods/bad carbs. I'm not sure if she altered her eating or not after that - you'd have to ask her. :)
I think keeping a log is so, so important. I love to look back over mine and see what I was eating when I had huge loss weeks. FWIW - it's usually tons of veggies, lean meats and a much smaller amount of carbs (even healthy ones) - for me.

I will ditto what Jennylou said about the Core program. I LOVE it, I was amazed how different my eating became when I went to the Core program from the flex. I feel like I have more energy because I'm eating much healthier food and getting nutrition from those healthier foods. I have been doing the core online and I usually just add in the foods that have points so it can keep track for the week, but my trainer has had me writting down all my food intake so she can see calorie wise where I'm at and that was pretty interesting to actually see all I was eating.
I'll take a look at core, I think I eat pretty well on the Flex plan. I only get 19 points, so I have to be pretty choosy about how I spend them. jennylou that's a good idea to look through my past weeks. I log everything online, so I can go back and check.
This is a typical day of what I eat. During the week, I have pretty much the same thing everyday for breakfast and lunch while I am at work.
Breakfast:
yogurt and a piece of fruit or 3 light pancakes and 2 scrambled egg whites. Today I had 1/2 a bagel with FF cream cheese and a yogurt.
Lunch:
Chicken sandwich - 2 pcs light wheat bread, 3 oz. Boars Head chicken, 1/4 oz of swiss cheese, 1 T of light mayo or a Lean Cuisine if I run out of chicken
Dinner:
Usually chicken or fish and I figure out the points for everything. I rarely eat meat, but if I do, for like a burger, I use 7% fat ground beef. I have even started using ground turkey and chicken sausage.
Snacks:
100 cal snack pack of something or fruit or string cheese. If I am craving a sweet, a WW or Skinny Cow Ice Cream.
Thanks for the support everyone, it is a tremendous help :D

I haven't started doing enough exercise to accumulate APs  But at my meetings the leader is having to tell several people to eat there's because they weren't eating enough and weren't loosing weight.

Thanks for the advice, Jenny. Almost everything that I eat is on the core list, I have just been counting points for Flex. I don't know if that means anything? In a typical day I eat fruit for breakfast, lunch is usually some type of whole wheat wrap with low fat meat (usually 3 points for the entire wrap) and for dinner usually some kind of grilled meat (chicken mostly but sometimes pork or beef) and then some fresh veggies. For a snack I'll usually have 94% FF popcorn or popsicles, etc. What am I doing wrong? Oh yeah, I work out six days a week, too!

From the WW site:
2-1/2-inch diameter x 2-1/4 inches - corn muffin, commercially prepared
1 = 3 points
2 = 7 points

Anyone click on this ad in this thread for this 18 pounds in 4 days thing? What kind of gimmick is it? I never heard of such a thing! I clicked on it but it doesn't make much sense?

Wow, it's been quite a while since I've checked in.
Okay, update on the past couple of weeks.
We went away for a 4-day mini-vacation (hi Katy!), got home on Monday. I got on the scale, and it said I had gained 12 lbs.! Holy cow! There's no way in HELL I could have gained 12 lbs. in 4 days. That means I would have had to have eaten 42,000 calories (12 lbs. X 3,500). Ummmm, I don't think so. Granted, I wasn't OP at all, but I know I didn't eat that many extra calories.
Well, by my official WI on Thurs., my gain was only +8.8 -- bad enough! I started guzzling the water like it was going out of style. I'm convinced that part of the problem was that I hadn't drank near enough water while on vacation. I mean, on a normal day I drink four to five 24-oz. bottles, sometimes six.
So at my WI yesterday, I lost ALL of that gain, plus some. I lost a total of -9.7 lbs.! Whew! That was some major water weight!
So now I'm 2.3 away from GOAL!
As to the previous question about eating APs, I eat all APs and all FPs. I think the important thing about APs is to make sure you're calculating them correctly. I have a heart rate monitor which gives me the exact amount of calories I've burned, then I use the formula 100 Cals = 1 AP. It's worked wonderful for me. I think it's important to make sure your body is fueled after a workout.
I hope everyone is doing well. Hang in there, everyone. :)
I had WI earlier today last week's vacation (waves back at Cheryll) and I'm so thrilled to find out that I was down a pound. I'll admit that a pound isn't all that much, but when you figure up all the wine we were drinking up in Sonoma I have to say that I'm quite proud of myself.
I also noticed while on vacation that I really didn't drink all that much water. Heck, a 12-pack of small bottles lasted us the entire week!! Not good at all, but at least we weren't drinking sugary sodas instead. When I'm home on any normal day, I easily drink a gallon or so - I fill our Britta at least 3x a day.

I found the same thing on our 4 day cruise last month. I am used to guzzling water and on the ship it was so hard to get enough water. Plus when I am dehydrated, I feel hungry and tend to over eat as well.
Katy - Yeah on loosing weight on vacation!
cheryll_with_2els - That is major water weight! Thankfully it came off so quickly! Congrats on being so incredibly close to goal. How exciting!!

Drinking enough water, in general, is always the hardest for me. Vacation or not. What's everyone's tricks to drinking enough water?
I had my WI this morning and after several weeks of flatlining, I lost a pound:
Weight Tracking Summary
Starting weight: 162.8
Your current weight : 155.2 lb
Weight change since your last recorded weight | -1 lb
Total weight change to date | -7.6 lb
I'm below by pre-pregnancy weight--FINALLY. Only 11 pounds to go until I hit my personal goal and I'm halfway to my 10% goal.
Candy, and all gainers this week - I saw this quote on the website. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." We all have the ability to do this...the willpower has to come from somewhere so find that place and draw from it. I know it's hard but if you continue on plan and try not to cheat and get your exercise in, than this is no longer something we need motivation for but rather, it's a lifestyle. That's how I think of it.

I've been on and off with my water. The way I am able to do it easiest is to be prepared. Have cold water on hand. When I have cold water I drink a ton. I also like to reuse water bottles (yeah, yeah, it's bad) and have them in the fridge for on the go days. If I do the 17.9 bottles of water, I only need 4 of them to reach my goal of 64 ounces a day.
jesseybell
06-17-2007, 01:21 PM
Water - I have the 22 oz sports bottles - I use 1 per day and keep refilling it, either from the cooler at work or the Brita. 3 a day is my goal, but I usually drink more -I am kind of a water-aholic. I drink 1-2 by the time I get to work, 2-3 at work, and 1-2 at home. I have to have something closed so I don't have to worry about spilling it. Days which I've tried drinking from a glass I am lucky to get the 64 oz. I also really don't drink anything else during the day- maybe 1 soda at lunch, but that is it. Coffee, soda, juice and wine aren't part of my daily points.

Did you all take your measurements when you first started? My MIL and I wanted to. She said she loses inches a lot faster than weight.
Anna Low
06-19-2007, 06:41 AM
Drinking enough water during the day is always an issue for me. At work, I'm generally so busy that I don't have enough time to devote to it (filling the bottle, peeing, filling the bottle, peeing, etc.), so I drink a lot when I get home. I will have to investigate one of the 32oz jugs - that sounds like it would be easier than just refilling a small bottle all day.
Does anyone have a good suggestion for a good summer cocktail that is low in points?

I did a couple of weeks ago, I need to check them this week I forgot last WI :o Especially since i am exercising more now and doing more strength training, I can see the difference in the way my clothes fit and my muscles, but it doesn't always reflect in the scale.

Congrats on the loss May27JnJ!!
I was down 1.8 this week. I have been exercising a lot, doing strength training and cardio. I also started using sparkpeople to keep track of what I am eating. I still follow WW, but I'm trying to make better choices. I hadn't been eating enough protein and my fat was a bit too high. I've learned with my base 19 points, is not nearly enough food, I was barely breaking 1000 calories a day. With my workouts I need at least 1200 calories a day, so I'm combining the 2 programs to keep everything in check - and not using my FP for crap.
I have 9 weeks till our cruise and if I can average a 1.5 lbs. loss per week, I'll get to 120 which I will be very happy with.
SW - 143
CW - 133.6
Total Lost - 9.4
10% Goal - 128.7
Goal Weight - 115

Yes, I did measurements the day before I started (just as I weighed). I've lost 52.75 inches since starting - that is definite motivation when the scales aren't moving as quickly as we'd like! :)

Jennylou - Congrats! You're getting soooo close to onederland! I think it's so cute that you call it that. When I was doing HMR the first time, I would get so excited every time i would see a "new middle digit." But man... when i saw the new FIRST digit... there was some celebration going on, believe me.
6.5 more pounds till I get to do that celebrating again.
And then 25 more pounds until I am at pre-preg weight.
And then an additional 25 pounds until I am at my wedding weight.
And then we try for #2 and I get to start the process all over again.

I know that feeling too! Right now my goal is about 12-14 lbs before we start for #2 in August. I am just afraid that I won't want to ttc because I love loosing the weight! (but my 37th birthday will be a nice reminder to kick that in gear). If I can be below my pre-pg weight at 40 weeks next time around, I will be more than thrilled. And next time around I hope to start ww as soon as I can. This time I was so worried my supply would tank, even with the extra points and even though I saw jennylou being so successful, I still waited until I weaned. Not next time!

I was hoping to be at goal and enjoy it for a while before trying for #2. But at this rate, I’ll just be happy if I make it to goal before trying for #2.
So after lurking on this thread and seeing so many success stories, I too decided to join WW. I was hoping to get some support here, because the pounds are coming off VERY slowly and it is hard to stay encouraged. I lost 85 lbs about 10 years ago (in my early 20's) and the weight came off MUCH faster...so this is going to be a long and hard road, but I got myself here, so I'm going to have to get myself out.
Starting weight: 242 lbs
Total weight loss: 7.8 lbs
Goal weight: 135 lbs.
Eeek! I've actually never put this in writing, but as Oprah says, "you have to own the number". I lost 5.5 lbs the first week, followed by 2 lbs the second. This week I only lost .3 lbs, which was kind of discouraging. But, I should say that I totally indulged last weekend in cupcakes that I had made for a BBQ, so I guess it all makes sense. I have to be better about my exercise and my water in take.
Looking forward to sharing more successes with all of you.

My weigh-in Monday was good, another 1.4 gone! We went camping Mon-Wed and I wasn't that great. Probably would not have been too bad without the drinking :o but we were kid free so I indulged! Hoping to really be on track the next few days and not have a gain on Monday. We took my 6 week measurements with my trainer on Sunday and was down another 4.5 inches in the last 3 weeks, so a total of 9.75inches in the 6 weeks since I started with my trainer. I wish I would have taken my measurements when I started WW, but I didn't think about it..
Welcome Chi! I have had much success with WW, this will be my 3rd round and hopefully my last! This thread and these ladies here are a great form of support and help, so welcome!
I feel ya ladies on the losing weight v. gaining for pg. Seemed like as soon as I got to my goal weight after my first daughter, we were pg again and it all came back! Just getting back to my goal weight now (youngest is 15 mo) and feeling great. No more kids for us, so I'm trying to keep a very strong willpower to stay at my goal. Good luck with it, I know the frustration! ;)

So I started fishing around my pics and found a few taken when we went to Disneyland just before Christmas and was surprised at how big I looked. I started WW Jan. 1st and have since lost 23.7 lbs. Now I am just working with my trainer to get my body fat down but reached my personal goal of 155, so we will see how much more I can loose while working with my trainer. I started 7 weeks ago with her at 27.2% and at my 6 week measurements I was at 23.6%. Anyways, long story longer, I was just posting to say I posted my "before" pics with recent one from my daughter's b-day in the progress pics thread. It was really cool to see how much different I looked. I was kinda surprised at it, but it's very encouraging to really see how different you look. Good luck! :)

Hi, everyone. I'm still bouncing around w/the points and loss unfortunately. I either don't plan and go over, or when I do plan, eat well and have extra points at the end of the day .
Obviously, somewhere in between would be good! Anyone have any tips for staying in "planning mode?"

Suzu - Where do you do your planning? Do you do the online thing, or do you have a notebook, or do you keep it in your head? Is whatever you're doing working for you, or could you use a change in that department? I'm doing the online thing, but B has a notebook that he writes everything down in (a Moleskine type one), and has taken daily notes on eating & exercise for about the last 4 years.
How's your accountability? Are you going to meetings? Would checking in with friends either here or on LJ be helpful? I've been checking in weekly with LJ friends and daily with B, and I think that helps me a lot. I told B that as soon as the accountability of him & LJ friends goes downhill for me, I start going to meetings. Thankfully I haven't had to do that yet.
Welcome Chi! Congrats on the losses Chi, kristine80 & Tonysweetie!!
Planning I have to plan my meals out the night before or else all hell breaks loose :) I do WW online, so it's easy for me to see how many points I have used up and if I need to move them around to make more sense.

Weigh-in this morning and was same as last week, 154.8.. Which this week is good cause we went camping a few days this week with no kids and I was able to enjoy some drinks! ;) And I didn't get all my cardio in either so I'm just happy there was no gain!

kristine80: I saw your pictures and you look fantastic!! Congrats on your loss! I did end up taking some before pictures the other night and saved them. I'm going to compare every 10 lbs. until I made it to 30/35 lbs.
Tonight I made the best WW friendly meal. I made fresh tilapia with homemade salsa on top, cooked carrots, and yellow rice. I got this from Applebees WW menu. I went there the other day and had the tilapia over rice with salsa on top, rice, and broccoli. It was so good I attempted it at home and it tasted just like it! The best part of the meal it was only worth 7 pts.!
I'm really nervous I have my first weigh in on Thursday. EEEK!

I haven't been here in a while because I had a few weeks without a loss and then a 0.8 lb gain. Blah. I am close to my goal, and find that losing has become harder. I'm not sure if it's a mental block or if my body is just not letting go after 6 months doing WW. But this week, I made sure to journal, keep within points, exercise 3x and I lost 3.2 lbs. I've got 3.6 lbs to go to 150, which was my goal, but I'm pretty content with my weight right now.
We're also talking about TTC#2 in a month or two, and I just went off the BCP. But I think it was good to lose weight first. I was still holding on to 15 lbs of 'baby weight' and wanted to get rid of that before trying again. Now I'm 12 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, right around my wedding weight, and it'll be nice to start at a weight lower than my pregnancy with DS. I just want to try to gain less than 40 lbs this time!

kellie woohoo on TTC again!!
I am so out of the loop. Sick kid, sich DH, sick cat and now sick me!
Great loss Kellie!!
Down 0.4 this week. AF is due tomorrow, so I'm pretty happy to have any kind of loss. I've been lax with watching my points, I've been tracking my calories and %'s on Sparkpeople. My points are so low and with the amount of exercise I am doing, it makes more sense healthwise to use SP in conjuntion with WW. There I can track my protein, fats and carbs and see where my calories are going - and it makes more "sense" to me. I've been doing both and it seems to be going ok, I plan my meals in advance so it's isn't too much extra work.

Sue, congrats on losing, even if it's a small amount. I never ever ever lose just before AF arrives. Usually I feel like the Goodyear Blimp (and the scale reflects that).
Ally, so sorry about everyone being sick! That's what happens, though. As far as TTC#2, we're still just talking, so don't let it leak to my family. Stuff like that spreads like wildfire in the ol' TRS network.

Didn't someone ask about summer drink ideas? I received this article on Warm-Weather Cocktails (http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=13581#Story), in my WW email today *cheers*
Caipirinha
Cut a room-temperature lime into quarters and drop it in a shaker. Add one packet of sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda) and one tablespoon water. Mash the mixture very well with a wooden spoon, dissolving the lime into mush. Add a shot (1˝ ounces) of white rum and enough ice cubes to fit in an old-fashioned glass. Shake well. Pour mixture (including the peel) into a glass. Variation: Add slices of mangos or a few cherries along with the lime.
Mojito
Pour 3/4 of an ounce (about half a shot) fresh lime juice into a glass. Add one packet of sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda) and four or five mint leaves. Stir until the sweetener dissolves. Add a shot of light rum and several ice cubes. Top with 2 ounces club soda and a sprig of mint.
Margarita
To shaker, add 3/4 of an ounce (about half a shot) fresh lime juice, 1 to 1˝ ounces low-calorie triple sec* and 2 ounces tequila. Add ice. Count slowly to 10 while shaking. Rub a lime halfway along the glass's outside rim, then roll the moistened part of the rim in kosher salt. Pour margarita into the glass.
Long Island Iced Tea
To shaker, add 1/4 shot vodka, 1/4 shot rum, 1/4 shot gin, 1/4 shot tequila, 3/4 ounces fresh lemon juice and two packets of sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda) dissolved into 2 tablespoons of water. Shake. Pour into a tall glass filled with ice and top with diet cola. Squeeze lemon on top.
Sangria
Dissolve four packets of sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda) into 4 tablespoons of water. Pour into pitcher. Add slices of oranges, lemons, limes, peaches, plums or nectarines as well as grapes (for white wine sangria, red grapes; for red wine sangria, white). Add a bottle of red or white wine. Stir, then let sit. Before serving, top pitcher with a drizzle of club soda.
* where in the world would one get a hold of low-cal triple sec?!?!

GOAL!! GOAL!! GOAL!!
I usually have one week out of the month where I have a large loss. Today was that day! At WI this morning, I lost -2.7 lbs. and made it to GOAL! 110.2 lbs. gone and finally a healthy BMI of 24.8.
When I lost 50 lbs. and entered "Onederland", the joy I felt was indescribable. It had been at least TWO DECADES since my weight started with a “1”.
My next big hurdle was reaching that 100 lbs. gone mark. I knew if I just kept following the program, the weight would come off. And it did! That day when the scale went below 150, I knew I could make it all the way. But I thought to myself, hmmm, reaching goal is going to almost seem anticlimactic after this huge milestone. LOL
The last 10 lbs. took the longest to lose out of all my “decades”, and I worked the HARDEST during the last three months. My weight graph looks quite impressive with all of its up and down spikes. LOL
And let me tell you, I cannot describe how victorious I feel today! Reaching goal is anything but anticlimactic. I feel like crying! I feel like laughing! This day is what I have worked so hard for. And the feeling is ohhhhh so schweet!!!
I’ve added a “GOAL Pics” page to my website. I had fun posting those pictures! :) Please sign the guest book and share in my journey with me.

Newbie here. I have joined WW for the first time after trying EVERYthing else(South Beach- lost nothing in phase 1 for 4 weeks!) to no avail!
My first WI is this Saturday and I am so nervous! I am stepping out of my comfort zone and going to meetings...
If WW doesn't work for me, then i'm afraid that something might be wrong. I am on Flex and with the exception of working out and the oils, i have been following it to what seems to be a 't.'
Question- does WW work if you don't work out?
That part is going to be extremely hard for me because i work nearly 12 hours a day in a new position (promotion of sorts) and i'm just exhausted at the end of the day! I'm not just using it as an excuse- i used to work out (heck, 8 months ago i did a sprint triathlon).
I am excited about being on this program and really hope that it will work for me.

cheryll_with_2els Congratulations!! You are truly an inspiration. It is stories like you that helped get my arse in gear to attempt to lose a ton of weight for a 2nd time in my lifetime!!
Fenway-my two cents is to weigh in on the sooner date, you won't be likely to have a big loss, but it would keep me honest. And truthfully, I don't think I could wait 12 days!! Also, good job on the loss, it might not be as much as you had hoped, but at least you didn't gain it!
May27JnJ way to go...that is impressive. keep up the good work. my DH is also doing WW (he only had about 15 lbs to lose, and is almost at his goal weight...i am jealous that it is coming off so quickly, but i am happy for him.
So my "official" weigh-in date is Friday, but I am doing WW online. I weighed myself on Friday and I was at 230.8 (for a loss of.8), but I weighed myself this morning (Saturday) and I was down to 229.2.. I know it is probably not legit, but I think I need a little more motivation so I am going count that extra 1.6 lbs for this week.
So: -2.4, for a total weight loss of 12.8 in a little over a month. Woo Hoo!!
So keep up the good work everyone!!

Chi~I do the WW online and sometimes if the day after/before my actual weigh-in is a better number, I will keep that one in my head as my weight to keep up my motivation too! ;)
May~ Congrat to both you and your hubby! That is great that you two are doing it together.
Fenway~ I too would weigh in on the sooner date. Like chi said, it would help keep me honest as well as motivated.
Welcome Becki! I too had tried many things before WW to no avail but luckily this was the trick for me, hopefully it will be for you too! I too am on the Core, and the oils is what I have a problem getting in every day as well, but since I've started in Jan I've lost almost 25lbs, so I'm sure it will work w/o the oils as well. Good luck!
Cheryll~ Your story is a true inspiration, thank you for sharing it with us! :)
I too was baaaad on the 4th. It started out good until I got home from work and wasnt feeling well. I decided the peanut butter cookies I had just made the day before would make me feel better. :o Then off to the bbq with the neighbors and MORE cookies and cupcakes, then a few Doritos to top it off and I felt like a pig... But I have been busting my but the past few days and being really good with my food so we will see what the scale says on Monday morning!
not so bad...I'm down a pound. It probably would have been better had I not finally sat down to a dinner at Del Taco at 11:30 at night (don't ask) after a lunch at McD's (again, don't ask!). Yesterday was a crazy schedule with a lot going on and the hubby and I were on different eat schedules due to the craziness. But hey, it's a pound gone!!

Hello everyone!
I haven't had a chance to read through much of the thread yet, but I've started into my second round with WW after just having another munchkin. I'm doing the program at home - no meeting or online just yet but did buy the majority of the supplies on eBay (I know WW would be so disappointed!). My husband is doing it with me though so it certainly helps to keep each other honest! But I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me out -
* nursing a baby while on WW - is anyone also in this boat? Is the recommendation from WW to still go with 10 points higher than your normal range? Anyone doing it with less than the 10 points? Right now I'm aiming for 5 points and I haven't seen any dips in my supply.
*activity points - when I did the program before - it was through my office - we had WW meetings on site so we got all the supplies. Does anyone know if there is still little slider rule thing for calculating your activity points earned? Or is it only available online? Does anyone know if there is a non-WW site that also has a highjacked version of the activity calculator?
I think those are the only questions I have right now but I'm sure I'll be back if I think of any! Good work to all of you working through the program!

Congratulations to all you losers!!
And for those of you struggling, hang in there!
I had my first WI after reaching goal -- and all I can say is Yowza!
So even though I reached goal last week, I haven't started maintenance yet because I have a personal goal of 135 or 130.
At WI this morning, I lost -3.9!!! I'm totally shocked to have such a huge loss after last week's large loss of -2.7.
With TOM coming next week, and after two consecutive big losses, I'm totally gearing up for some sort of gain. :)
I believe there's still a "bring a friend for free" program going on - or at least there was as of last weekend when I had a to look up a different time/day for my WI. You have to do it in the store though - and you might have to sign up first, then the next day bring him to sign up as your "friend"
Nevermind, it must be over because I'm not seeing it on their home page.

Also - another question - how much do you typically show as a gain during TOM?
Thanks all!
So I am down .8, TL of 13.6 lbs. I would have wished for more, but truthfully, I was lucky to lose anything this week. I didn't exercise and didn't eat enough fruits and veggies due to feeling sorry for myself that I had strep throat!

This is probably too late for Jenn, but may help someone else.
Gin, vodka, rum, and whiskey are all about the same, calorie-wise. For mixers, any diet soda is the best option, so you're looking at drinks like rum and diet Coke. A light beer is about the same as a typical liquor and diet soda drink, around 100 calories +/-. Fruit juice or regular soda mixers and blender drinks are going to be much worse. Wine is somewhere in the middle.
I had WI today and was down 2.6 lbs!! But the catch is.... I wasn't doing WW -at all. This past week I was using Sparkpeople and it really worked out better for me. It's helping make better food choices instead of being worried about points. I am also eating more and when I am burning over 2000 cal. a week with exercise, I need it!
So I think I am going to concentrate on SP for a while and see if this week wasn't just a fluke. WW was great to get me started but I feel better and am more satisfied on SP. Good luck to everyone!!!
I'm down 8lbs as of this morning, after 3 weeks on the program.
Am loving seeing the scale move down.

Congrats EJH...that is great loss!
What is Spark People? Anyone know?
As for me, I was too afraid to weigh in yesterday. I have swore to myself that I will make it to the gym at least twice this week with two walks thrown in. Today I did a short kickboxing class on Exercise TV and it made me feel really good. I put DS in his swing and he watched me do it, which was pretty darn cute!
mobox Sparkpeople (http://sparkpeople.com/) is a weightloss site where you can track your calories and workouts. You set a goal and depending on what your workout goal is and goal date is, they suggest a plan for you. There is a thread (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25278) here on CC about it.

cheryll-you are so fabulous! Congrats on such an unexpected WL last week!
thyme- thanks for posting the alcohol info for JennW, it was helpful to me as i went out to dinner for the first time on the program (opted for a light beer)
Chi- congrats on the .8! We actually were talking about this type of WL at my meeting on Saturday morning. They compared 2 sticks of butter to .5lbs...so .8 is still good!
Sue- congrats on the WL (no matter which way to lose it ;) )
EJH- down 8lbs- your my hero! That is my ttl WL goal for this week (which means i have to lose 2.6lbs). Congrats!
Mo- hey girl! Well it sounds like your off to a good start for the week with the kickboxing and tv (with the little man watching you- too cute)

Okay, I'm here yet AGAIN. This time (hopefully) for real. My friend and I discovered that we both weigh the same, so we are starting a little friendly "contest" since we both complain about our weight.
We both have set our goals - me to lose 30 pounds (BMI @ 22%) and her to lose 20 pounds (BMI also at 22%). We have until December 16th. In mid-September, we'll check our stats. Whoever is closest to our goal weight at that time will win a prize. I'll get candlesticks that I've been admiring, she'll get a pedicure (we'll each pay for the other's prize). We'll figure something "bigger" for the final goal weight. We both agreed that the prize will not be a food related item.
I figure we'll keep eachother motivated (she's my BFF and we work together, so we speak daily), and the competition will keep us going. I'm going to also join our local Recreation Center and sign up for a personal trainer (6 sessions). They'll hook me up to equipment and monitors and go over my goals. I can't join until next month, but at least I'll have WW and other activity to keep me busy until then.
Starting Stats:
SW: 162 lbs
CW: 162 lbs
Goal #1: 146 by 09/14/07
Weight to Lose: 16 lbs
Weight Lost to Date: 0
Will be back next week with my stats!

Down another pound today, for a total of 26.8. We did measurements and body fat testing yesterday with my trainer. Down another 3 in for a total of 13in in the last 9 weeks and I reached my body fat goal of 22%, from 27.2% when I started w/ trainer 9 wks ago! I'm pretty pleased, and still have about 4 weeks left with her, so we are hoping I can get down to 20% by then! Hopefully that would put me at my goal weight of 145, which would be 6.7lbs to lose.

I am so bummed this week. I just came back from my WI, and I gained 1.2:mad:. It was a challenging week, but I thought I did a good job of staying in control and tracking all my points. I wonder where I went wrong.
I had sushi and fat free kettle corn last night. Do you think it could have been the salt?
On a happier note, I just bought a size 12 dress for an August wedding. It's a little snug, but I've so happy I could zip a size 12!! By the wedding, it should fit perfectly.... (hopefully) Maybe I'll take a pic now and a pic at the wedding for some visual motivation for myself.

I actually did really well with the points last week, I still had 20 excess points to use. My eating habits have really taken a beating because I have a bagel with fat free cream cheese in the morning, and that fills me up until after lunch. So around 3:00 I'm starving. I need to learn how to eat something small even when I don't feel that hungry, just to keep up my momentum.
I've also been still eating my chocolate everyday (a must since I was PMSing) and that didn't hurt. :)
Tonight after work I'm going to the rec center to get a membership. It's only $55 per year, and they have all types of classes and the gym has great hours. I'm going to look into an aquatics class because it seems fun. Next week I'm going to meet with a personal trainer and start some type of work-out program.

Ok, I didn't weigh myself this week. I couldn't bear to stand on the scale. So, I have renewed my commitment to myself and to my health. I brought my gym bag and plan on a workout at lunch followed by a salad. I ate a banana and a yogurt for breakfast.
Becki - Nice to see you here!
Kind of a silly question...when you count your fruit (say grapes), do you cup them up or leave them whole. I mean, you'll fit more in a cup when a grape is cut in half - and those awesomely sweet grapes from Costco are huge! I like things better when I can go by weight.
Fenway
07-23-2007, 07:17 PM
I leave them whole. I never even thought to cut them... I'd feel like I were cheating if I did, though. lol
it's so much easier when you can go by weight and not by size. You'll usually get more of something when you weigh it - more uncut chicken than a "cup" of cut chicken, more pasta than a "cup" of pasta, more cheese than a "cup" of cheese - which of course, is why some of the measurements go by ounces and not size. So yeah, I like to weigh, but that wasn't an option this time around.

Yeah. I know exactly what you mean. Speaking on weighing, I lost my scale!! How to you lose a freakin food scale???? It is in this house somewhere...
Anyway, I wouldn't stress too much over grapes. If it were something with a high fat and cal content, like chocolate, then I'd worry.

Well I just had my month 2 weigh in as a lifetime member. Still maintaining at goal. I definitely think knowing that I have to weigh in at teh end of each month is a good governor for me. Always te eweek before my monthly weigh in I am ever so careful about what I eat and if I am a little high, I up my exercise.
Congrats to all who have lost weight, and those who haven't - hang in there! I definitely had some ups and downs but over time, 30 lbs did come off an dhave stayed off since late March, which was when I made my goal (I had six weeks of maintenance after that to make Lifetime in May.

Question: what is "Maintenance" and what is "Lifetime"?
I just started up WW again last week, and I hope to hit my goal weight by December (loss of 30 pounds). What happens after I meet my goal? I do WW online so I don't really know what the next step is.
Thanks!

Maintenance is the step in between hitting goal and lifetime. I think its something like 6 weeks that you have to maintain your goal weight before making lifetime status.

Maintenance is the step in between hitting goal and lifetime. I think its something like 6 weeks that you have to maintain your goal weight before making lifetime status.
Yes, that is exactly right. Once you become a lifetime member, you still ahve to weigh in once per month. As long as you remain at goal weight (+2 lbs, I believe as leeway) you don't have to pay and retain your lifetime status.
If you are over, you pay for one session - it depends on your area how much but here it is $12, I think. Then you start back to weekly meetings til you get back to goal. To pay for thos eweekly meetings, you can pay by the meeting, or by the month, or any way that you normally pay under any of the plans offered.
It really depends how far off from goal you are. Say you just overindulged one month and are just a few lbs up, you may just want to pay for one or two songle seesions, and work on getting back to you goal weight within a eek or two. Then you are back to lifetime and just have to weigh in once per month. Thos eweigh ins are free if you are at goal (or below).
But if you are way off track - say you haven't weighed in for 6 months because you wer pregnant. Now you've had the baby and want to start losing the weight. Or perhaps like I was previously, just was really stupid for about 9 months and gained a lot of weight back (this is my second time round with WW). You woudl go in for a weigh in - pay for that one session, and then decide if you needed to buy one of their plans.
I have never done it on line so I don't know how it works there.
Word to the wise, pick your "lifetime goal weight" carefully. Although my ideal weight is 125, my official lifetime goal weight is 130. That means I actually coudl go up to 132 and still be "on goal" and not have to pay. I just felt I needed some leeway, but didn't want to allow myself to get too far off track. I actually am a fe wlbs below the 125, so I'm not taking liberties, but I wanted to select a weight that was achievable over a long period of time. There is no penalty for being under your goal weight.

Thank you for the information RE: maintenance/lifetime. I found some info about it online, but it didn't explain it fully.
My goal weight is 130, which is realistic for me. I used to be between 118-125 back in the day, but realize that I was too thin back then (and didn't know it). I never had a problem with my weight until about 5 years ago, when I met DH, and my whole lifestyle changed. Not that it is his fault, but the changes that happened weren't for the best. Such as eating late at night because of his schedule, having big meals when I was fine before with just a sandwhich, having someone else to help with house/lawn work, etc. Plus I moved from a 2 story townhouse to a ranch, and there went the 20 trips a day up and down stairs. 10 pounds of weight gain turned into 20, then 30. I'm tired of seeing 160-something on the scale. I'm tired of being tired. I've been a "member" of WW online for over a year, and have never gotten past the 3-month mark. But I'm determined THIS time to stick with it. Plus I have the extra help of friends in the office also on WW (one is in maintenance right now), and a strong desire to fit into a Christmas dress that I first wore when DH and I met in time for our company Christmas party.
My eating habits are off kilter right now because of the meds I'm taking. I don't eat much during the day, but seem to eat up all my points in the evening. During the day I might eat a total of 5-10 points, leaving the rest for dinner. While I'm still within my point range for the day (rarely tapping into the weekly freebies), I'd like to balance them out a little. I just have no appetite during the day and I'm famished at night.
I'm sure it will work itself out as my body adjusts to the change, and as long as I'm losing weight I won't complain. It's more of an annoying thing at this point.

This was me exactly. Everythign changes when DH and I got married and moved in together. I was always in the 112-118 range. Like you, that was probably too thin so I think 125 is a more reasonabel weight, especially since I an 41 now. I never had chips or sbnacks or anything at teh house. If I ate a huge lunch, dinner was just a sandwich or fruit (or nothing). DH is a big guy (6'4") and does a physical job and eats a LOT. high calories stuff too. It was all too tempting and my weight shot up to the high 150s. I was miserable.
We compromise now. Some foods are banned from teh house - but nto all are. I just am honest wit him and myelf that I can't eat te omelets etc taht he does every weekend. So I have fruit and yougurt and maybe 2 bites of his omelet.
I too have a special Christmas part dres sthat I would LOVE to be able to wear an dthsi year, I think I wil be able to!

Question of the day: Do the rest of you set smaller goals for yourself? If so, what are they right now? Mine is to be 185 by the time we leave for our vacation to Boulder on September 7. I'm 191.2 now, so I think that's more realistic than my previous goal of 180 by that same time. Another goal of mine is 165 by the holidays and family trip to Disney.

Yes, my goal is to lost 16 pounds by September 17th - 10 weeks from when I started. My friend and I have a little contest going on, and whoever weighs closest to their goal weight gets a prize bought by the 'loser' for that goal.
We have until November 26th to reach our goal weight. That gives us a total of 20 weeks to lose the weight, which is the healthy way of 1-2 pounds per week.

Gained .2 today but I really wasn't that good this week so not stressing too much. I have an engagment party this weekend so I am sure I will be bad then I need to get back on track. One thing I haven't been doing is going for my early evening walks with my 2 year old because it has been so hot. Need to start that again!
Has anyone else ever experienced this!? What happens to you during your TOM?I've noticed that since starting up on BCP again and taking thyroid meds, that I'm C.R.A.Z.Y. the week leading up to my period. I used to get a chocolate craving for a day or two, but now, I can eat everything in site.
I tend to keep lots of fruit around then. I'd rather pig out on watermelon than on chips. I also lean heavily on my WW-friendly snack foods. Granted, I might have two 100 cal packs of something, but again, it's better than an entire bag of chips. My worse thing is I'm out and about and I just make lousy choices - that usually costs me extra points there.
And I've learned from experience not to freak out over the occasional, mid-week binge. I've found that 9/10 times, as long as you were on track the rest of the week, you'll still have a good loss. Let's hope it's true for me this week since I had a day where I was 50+ points (but had it available in my weekly extra points).

That was me last week, and I gained 2 lbs. Go to your meeting!!! I went with the attitude that I knew I was going to gain, and I had to get back on that horse and have a better week next time. I have a question though. Do any of you ladies know if coffee helps you lose weight? I have been having two cups at night to curb my appetite after dinner so wondering if that helps too.
I was down 1.2. I was hoping to hit my -25 but I guess it wasn't in the cards. Damn that TOM!!! Oh well, I'll be ready for it next week!

Becki - Don't stress it...we ALL have bad weeks. It's recovery that matters. So chalk this one up and do better next week.
As for TOM, I tend to crave sweets. I keep Hershey's dark chocolate kisses in my office and pop a couple a day and I stay away from the shop downstairs because inevitably, I'll want that damn mini chocolate bundt cake!

My husband actually COMPLIMENTED me this weekend. He usually is negative about my weight (jerk that he can be sometimes), but this weekend he stunned me. We were at a friends house swimming, and he said that it was time to graduate from my tank-kini into my regular bikini. How sweet was that? I didn't think so, but I put on my bikini for him when we got home and he said that I looked MUCH BETTER in it than I did last summer. So that was a good thing. :)

Katy- thanks for the advice about having the fruit around. The watermelon was helpful in curbing the cravings! And, maybe you didn't hit your -25, but at least you were down this week...so CONGRATS on that!
Fenway- thanks for the push and reminder to still go to the meeting! I did go and it was better than i thought! I was totally not planning on going until i read your comment- so thank you!
Mo- hey chica! I still can't believe how i was binging! For 4 weeks straight i was doing so well! I def was able to find comfort in the fact that everyone has those weeks- thanks for the reminder! And, a weight loss is a weight loss, right!? So congrats on your loss this week!
Congrats to everyone else and their success's this week!!!!
For me:
SW: 163.2
CW: 155.4
WL for week: -.6! (sooo happy with this since i was expecting my first gain)

Forgot to post my weigh-in last week, I was up 1 lb thanks to TOM! But this week I was back down 2.3!! I'm at 148.3, which is 3.3 from my goal of 145 :) And I reached my 30 lb mark (I started Jan 1st at 178.5!) which I was pretty excited about it :)

It's so not fair about gaining weight right before or during TOM. That sucks. I commiserate with you all!!!

W7 -4.8 (today)

Congrats to all of the losers this week! Fenway, that's a spectacular loss this week!
I gained the 0.2 this week that I lost last week. Slow and steady.
Fenway- I find loss patterns so interesting! I just wish I could figure mine out! Congrats on the fabulous loss this week!
kristine80- congrats on reaching your 30lb mark, that is terrific!!
I was a little disappointed with my WI this morning-loss of 1.6lbs for a total WL of 19lbs. I know, any loss is great and I am losing at a healthy pace, but I totally worked my butt off with lots of exercise this week and was so on track with my eating...I really wanted a big loss (like more than 2 lbs). Oh well, just need to stay motivated and on plan.

kristine80 Congrats on reaching your 30lb mark. And, wow, your so close to your goal- good luck with WI this week!
Mo I seem to be the opposite- i lost a little during my TOM and then this past week (2 weeks later) i had my first gain!
Fenway WOW, congrats on such a huge WL! That's amazing!
udsweetpea Like i tell myself... .2lbs is still a loss so congrats!
chi First, congrats on your WL! Like you said, it's still a loss! I bet you were hoping to hit your 20lb mark! Hopefully this week then since your sooo close!
I am super frustrated this week- after going over all my points and such last week, i was really really careful this past week- i even dropped my daily points (only by 1 pnt though). Needless to say i had a GAIN of .8lbs. I'm hoping that i can be like Fenway and with my gain this week, have a great loss in this week to come!
Anyway- week 6:
WL: +.8 (that's almost a whole pound)
TTL WL: - 6.8
I have to keep reminding myself that i'm learning a new way of life so the weight will come off slowing (especially since i won't be planning on putting it back on).
Have a great week everyone!

I'm possibly thinking about changing my goal again to 135.... A co-worker has lost about 50 and is about 135 and looks great! Gives me good motivation to keep going. But I'm not sure if it is attainable for me, much less maintainable, but I'm thinking about it...

Fenway, I thought of you on my way to WI on Saturday morning...thinking about how you have mentioned that when you have a gain then it's usually followed with a decent loss and I was really hoping that would be the case with me. SO, thanks for posting and sharing your experiences...

mobox Good luck getting back on track! It takes a lot for me to get myself back in gear after a vacation. I'm going on vacation once a month up until January (Colorado, Scottsdale, and 2 trips to Disney World), and I'm hoping I can stay on track during those vacations!
So I was OOT for a few days last week and managed somehow to gain 2.6lbs even though I was very diligent about exercise and my food intake. Fortunately, I was able to lose it this week plus another .6 (gotta make every ounce count!!). Sort of bummed because I was really hoping to make it to 10% this week, but I guess I'll just keep trudging.
WI last week: +2.6/225.6
WI this week: -3.2/222.4
Total WL: 19.6 lbs.
udsweetpea- congrats on your 5lb sticker!!
Fenway-yes maintaining is definitely something!! Always better than a gain!

Oh getting back on track was HARD but I did 3 workouts last week and even did 15 minutes of mat pilates while on the road on a business trip Friday morning. So, I"m proud of myself there. However, my fruits only netted a .2 loss. But, better than nothing...hoping it precedes a BIG loss next week!

I stopped attending meetings this summer and it took a toll (had lost a bit to start last spring and ended up nearly back to square one) but I weighed in this morning and had lost 3 lbs since last week's meeting.
'Course I'm still having the problem where if I count points all day I can't get them all in, but if I'm disorganized and don't plan or count, I go over.. However, I'm trying to address that problem by having more points at breakfast and lunch than I had been, and .... oh, yeah - staying organized. :o.

Fenway- hey, a loss is a loss right? Hope you did good this week!
MO- hey chica- good job on staying so focused this week and all the work outs! Even a little loss is still a loss!
Chi- isn't it a (very small) form of torture being sooo close but not quite getting it? Hopefully you'll be able to rock it this week and lose your 10%!
violetxflutterby and suzubeane- Good luck!
For me, i was sooo hoping to hit my 10lb mark since last week i was at a ttl loss of -9.6lbs. But NOPE! I had a gain of +.6lbs!!! I won't be able to WI next week because i'll be home for party after party....i'm hoping to hit my 10lb mark at my next WI in 2 weeks.

I gained 1.4 this week... :( Saturday was my boyfriend's surprise 30th birthday party, and I had ice cream cake. Sunday was dinner out at a Mexican restaurant and a birthday party with more ice cream cake afterwards. Yeah, not good. I'll be better this week.
I'm signing up for adult jazz class tonight! Yay!
I finally had a loss over 2 lbs!! I'm down 2.2lbs this week for a total WL of 21.8 lbs. I am so excited. Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Hi everyone! I (re)joined weight watchers today. I've lost count the number of times I've started and stopped the program. The last time I had great success I was attending the meetings -- so I made it to my first meeting today. What's motivating me this time? Tomorrow is my son's 2nd birthday and I am dangerously close to the weight I was when I GAVE BIRTH. I'm doing this for him and for me and the second child I hope to conceive in the next few months. I haven't read any of this thread yet, but I hope to find the time soon and would like to continue to check in.

Hi girls,
My husband and I just joined, we started our 2nd week Saturday. We are going to weekly meetings and using the flex plan as we both need structure and flexibility right now. We also joined with another couple which is great for support. Here's our standings so far....
Me: W1 -1.6
DH: W1 -6.5
I don't get it, he used some of his points on beer and still loses more! I've learned so much already from the two meetings I have gone to. Before I tried to do WW on my own, lost 15 lbs. but gained it all back. This week I'm trying to exercise every day because I didn't at all my first week.

Sure you can mobox! I don't know about everyone else but today at our meeting we talked about positive thinking and not losing hope in reaching our goal. They were basically saying not to get discouraged if you gain or stay the same one week, just try different things to see what works. This one lady who had lost 70 lbs. hit a plateau, she switched to Core for 1 week and lost another 7 lbs. which is encouraging.
