I am hosting a Valentine's party for my girls (3yrs and 18 mos) and their little friends. Any clever ideas for any craftsy projects for little ones? I bought some stickers and am going to have some precut hearts for them to glue on some manila paper. Any other ideas?

Hi Maggie!
How are you and your girls?
Not exactly clever, but what about doing some rolled sugar cookies--heart-shaped naturally--for the kids to decorate? Grainne was really into cookie-decorating this past Christmas. I saw a collection of different-sized hearts at a housewares store last week.

Since you have some of the craft stuff out anyway, maybe you could help all of the girls make V-Day cards for their parents. That woulld be cute. You could add things like ribbon, yarn, really large spangles (for the older girls), hearts in different shapes and sizes cut from scrapbooking paper, etc.
I think the cookie idea is really cute. If cookies aren't your thing, you could do cupcakes. I also think making up pans on jello (jiggler style) and letting the girls cut out the hearts from the jello might be fun too. They could decorate the jello hearts with whipped cream and red fruit as a snack to eat at your house.

Hey there, Kristen! The girls and I are fine. I can't believe how quickly they are growing though. How old id your little one now? I don't know why I didn't think of decorating cookies. We decorated some at a friend's house near Christmas and it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the idea!
myshel:I think all of these little ones would love to make a card for their Mommies...oh, and even more so, Daddy since none of their Daddies will be at the party. Good idea! I do have lots of scrapbooking stuff that I haven't used in years that I can dig up. I do like the cupcake idea. They seem easier than rolling out cookies. The Jello idea is a good one too.
OK, now I just need to go get some heart cut outs, some red sprinkles and some yarn.
Anyone else have any ideas?

I second (or third, rather) the cookie suggestion. Ava LOVES to help me in the kitchen and sprinkles are her very favorite. We made cookies for my sister's birthday yesterday and she had icing and sprinkles everywhere - but loved every second of it. You could pre-bake the cookies and have little cups of icing and sprinkles out for them. It would be a mess, I'm sure, but they'd love it!

Maggie--Sylvie is 16 months now. Ack! How did that happen? She is still not walking, so she still seems like a baby in some ways. Marissa is 18 months?
I just read this in the Toddler Busy Book and haven't tried it but the author claims if you put a marble between each paper cup liner and the muffin tin, it will make the cupcakes heart-shaped. Sounds cute, but like I said, haven't tried it!
