yay new folks! Hi Tiffany and Janna :D

QOTD: How long have you lived in the "deep South?"

I've lived in Georgia since December 2006. Before that I've lived in North Carolina my whole life. So I've never lived outside the South, but I'm just in the "deep South" now. I miss NC, but I think that mostly has to do with missing my family/friend and familiar places.

Thanks! :)

QOTD: I've lived in the deep south pretty much my whole life. I was born and raised in a town in south Georgia. My family moved to Virginia and Orlando for ashort period, bt we always came back to our hometown. Then, my husband and I moved to Statesboro, GA to attend college. Afterwards, we moved to Atlanta (Vinings and then Newnan). We moved to Savannah at the beginning of January.

Foley42: I wish I would have known that you live in Columbus. Up until January, I lived in Newnan (southwest Atlanta), and it's not too terribly far from Columbus. Maybe an hour away?

Janna: Even though I just moved to Columbus I've been here a million times since 2003 visiting DH(then BF). We could have met up. I think Savanah is 3 hours from Columbus, is that about right? If DH and I ever take a vacation there then I'll def. let you know :)

Well I was born and raised in Miami, FL and lived there up until I moved to AL in Dec 2003 for my job (my first "real" job out of college). It was a pretty hard adjustment for me, mostly b/c all of my fam and friends were back home. But I think I am finally getting used to it. :)

I should have guessed that with your avater ;) DH pulls for Miami in football, but he's a huge Duke fan for basketball. I don't get how he can back and forth considering they are both in the ACC...whatever though :)

QOTD: I've lived in Louisiana all my life. I grew up in a small town called Vidalia, LA, then went to college in Monroe, LA. After graduating I got a job in Baton Rouge, LA...which is where I live now. I actually now live in a small town just outside of Baton Rouge...sortof a suburb.

*waves* Hi Julie and Melanie :D

There was a thread in ChitChat a week or so ago. It was about moving up North and how she didn't like cold weather. Most folks replied saying the Southern states are just way too hot.

I despise cold, windy, snowy weather and b*tch about it in the winter. I also don't like the humidity when it's 100+ and you can't breathe because the air is so thick. But I would take the heat over FEET of snow and wind any ole day. Temps that are negative ___, heck no! :)

What do you like and dislike about the deep South?

Yay! That's so cool that your DH is a Cane fan!! I am always excited to see fellow Cane fans!!

ITA with you! Having grown up in FL, I never had a "winter", so I completely depise cold weather now. :)

QOTD: Let's see, what do I dislike about the deep South...for the most part, my time here has been positive (minus my homesickness, but I think I am getting over that), but I have had a couple of coworkers talk to me about places in AL in which DH and I should NOT go b/c of that place's "discriminating" behavior/mentality. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely not saying that all parts of AL or the deep South are like that - I myself have only had positive encounters with people. But it's just the thought that some places still think in terms of black/white, which I never had to deal with growing up, that makes me sad.

What do I dislike about the Deep South? That it's not Texas. Is that an answer? ;) Truly, I miss Texas like crazy, especially now with Spring coming. I know that back home, the antique shows are getting started, the wildflowers are blooming and baseball is getting ready to get started. I miss going on a weekend roadtrip and going to Brenham and College Station and getting away from it all in my 2 favorite places in the world. I miss bluebonnets and the fields going from brown to green in a weekend. I even miss my car being covered in oak pollen for a month.

Don't get me wrong, Georgia's not bad but it's no Texas. :D Texas may be geographically south but we're our own entity.
