Welcome to our bright, shiny (and still somewhat under construction thread)!

A few housekeeping details:

Check your stats and submit updates in red.
We in the July thread eliminated all names and photos from TM-maintained posts for security reasons.
If you know of anyone who hasn't checked in lately, have them stop by to update or remove themselves.

I'm still making updates but hope to have the first posts updated appropriately by Tuesday night. If you don't see your stats or due date/arrival information, hang in there!

If you have any suggestions as to what could/should be included up front, please post those in red as well.

Thanks for setting up the thread mkvh. If you need help, I can temporarily (just for getting all the August mommies in and alphabetized) help out, just let me know if everyone else is too busy. After that, it'll all be on the TM's. :)

I am going to update my info (since it appears that I've failed to update my age for, eh, about 7 months :o .

Hi Ladies and special hi to the August mommies!

We had our 6mth WBV a few days early and S is doing well. He took the shots like a champ. His weight was 15lbs 5 oz. I forgot his percentile, but probably around 30%. His head and length are both on the lower end too. But coming from a birth weight of 5lbs 8 oz, we could not be happier, nor could our ped. We are still exclusively breastfed, though we are cleared for solids. I think we'll start sometime in the next couple weeks. I'll likely be skipping rice cereal and going to oatmeal.

I go back to work on 02/05 and we have been doing transition visits at the daycare for the past week and will continue next week. Thank goodness, I'll be at work three days a week for the first few months. DH will work at home one of those days, so S is only at day care for 2 days a week for the time being. I'm very sad about going back to work, but I know it is best for him and for me.

I hope everyone is doing well. We are still having some sleep issues, but I think it is due to us stuggling through our first cold. Early January, we went to Trinidad to visit my parents and family. S travelled well on all legs of the flight and slept for most of the time on each leg.

TM can you please update our ages?
Me - 30, DH - 39

I know I haven't posted in the July thread in ages. Hi to all the July & August Mommies! :)

DD2 is getting so close to 7 months old! I can't believe it! She'll be 6m3w old tomorrow.

She's still sleeping in the swing at night, although we're weaning her off the motion by shutting it off when we go to bed. She's also falling asleep in her crib for naps now, but not all the time, so some naps are still in the swing.

We're still EPing, and it's going well. She's just now starting to enjoy solids. We waited till 6 months to start them and she was spitting everything out. Once I switched from rice to oatmeal to mix with her other foods, she seemed to take to it better.

She rolled at the later end of the normal range, but she's pretty good at it now. She doesn't freak out every time she's on her belly, although she still doesn't really like being on her belly. I don't know how she's going to practice getting on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth and all that other pre-crawling stuff if she won't stay on her belly for long. She's figured out a way to scoot while on her back, and it's really funny. Seriously, she hates being on her belly. She's very strong, though. She loves to practice standing, she kicks everything she can reach with her feet or legs, and she's sitting like a pro. She told Mommy to stop fretting over not being early at gross motor skills like her brother & sister were.

Still no teeth, but lots of teething symptoms. Not sure when to expect any. DS and DD1 didn't cut teeth till after their 1st birthdays.

Here she is at 6mo. I'll be taking them down in a day or two.

Yay for a new thread! :) It will be fun getting to know the August mama's!

We didn't do a 6 month WBV - we have been here in NY visiting my family, but I suppose I should get in for one when I get back. My ped is not that concerned, so neither am I. ;) I did measure him the other day - just a hair over 28".

DS has been cranky beyond all previous crankiness he has dished out. The only thing that makes him happy is to be held upright (and only in certain carriers - like a wrap) while I am standing/moving around. I can't sit! And I had to put him down to bring in firewood the other day... I felt horrible, but I just couldn't take him out with me to bring in firewood when it is -12 with the windchill! Being home alone for a couple of days to dog-sit and keep the woodstove going stinks!

Have a great weekend!

Being home alone for a couple of days to dog-sit and keep the woodstove going stinks!Ah yes, I know those days well. They suck! I hope he feels better soon.

We should all do some sort of "get to know you" thing like a meme since some of us don't know each other as well as our previous threadmates. I'm not creative enough to get one started though. Anyone else?

ETA

Sophia Your DD sounds a lot like where DS is. He still isn't rolling over except front to back and shows no signs of even wanting to crawl. Right now I am having him reach for his toys so maybe he'll crawl from a sitting position but he hasn't learned to put his arms out in front of him yet so he'd fall on his face if I don't catch him. I'm sure one day he'll figure something out.

CarlaB Going back to work is hard but DS loves hanging out with the other kids. It makes me feel a lot better. I'm glad your WBV went well :D

Hi! I'm here! MVKH - thanks for starting this up. You rock!!

My stats have changed to age 31, oh and we got married 11/16/02, not 11/16/06 :)

getting to know each other - I agree, but I too am useless in that department Soulmate. Anyone??

Favorite TV show(s): Heroes, Greys Anatomy, Smallville

One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Play with my grandchildren

Favorite part of pregnancy: Feeling DS move and wiggle. When I first started to feel him move that Jello song "wiggle while you're jiggle free" and I would sing it in my head every time I felt him.

Worst part of pregnancy: Having to be conscious of everything I did and ingested. Basically not having my body all to myself.

First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: I had a c-section so physically I was numb after DS was born but I was also so exhausted for such a long time afterwards that I never felt empty in my uterus. But after he was born I went to Wendy's while DH watched DS and I almost cried because I realized that that was the first time he was not with me in like 10 months. I think that was the closest I came to feeling empty.

The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: Right now, dancing. He does this super cute wiggle/head bob thing that is sooo friggin cute.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Cheerios Holy crap DS is cute and scary with the cheerios all at the same time. He still doesn't have his pincher grasp down but really really wants the cheerios in his mouth so he'll grab a bunch in his fist and shove his whole fist in his mouth hoping at least one will get in. When one does he'll "chew" it and when he swallows he does this gagging thing that looks very much like choking. I had to take the cheerios away because I was getting so nervous. Maybe we'll start using the Graduates puffs instead.

Thanks, MVKH for the new thread!

Can you update our ages to 28 for me and 37 for DH? Thanks!

Well, I dont know if it is teething, starting solids or what but sleeping in our house has gone from really bad to worse. My DD has never been a good sleeper (she has STTN maybe 4 times in her life!) but it's HORRIFIC lately. It's a struggle to get her to go to bed and then she's up 3-4 times per night. I can barely function at work and neither can DH. Both of us are exhausted, although my sympathy for him is very low since I'm the one who physically gets out of bed to get her (due to BF) - for the most part. I'm really not looking for suggestions, as we've tried just about everything, but I needed to vent. As horrible as it sounds, I dont know if I can do this again, so DD may be an only child. Although, coming from a big family, I really wanted her to have a sibling.

On a good note, we tried sweet potatoes last night and she LOVED them! We had only tried rice cereal (yuck) and oatmeal before. My DH decided to try them to see how they tasted and then was slightly grossed out when I reminded him that I made them with breastmilk!

Makena, sorry sleep has been so bad.

Nuhmah, DD has been cranky like that, too, and the sling really does help.

Favorite TV show(s): 24, Heroes, Ugly Betty, Earl, Studio 60, Stargate SG1/Atlantis

One thing that is on your list to do before you die: I don't really have anything.

Favorite part of pregnancy: Feeling her move and having her with me all the time. I used to "hug" my belly.

Worst part of pregnancy: The morning sickness, sciatica, and PGP.

First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Never really felt "empty" either physically or emotionally. I was thrilled to have her out where I could see her and I had no regrets about the birth experience (3rd c/s, 2nd scheduled c/s) or the bf problems (started EPing instead).

The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: She hisses at me when I change her diaper. She thinks she's a kitty cat.

Hey everyone! I love the smell of a fresh new thread. ;)
TM, can you update DH's age to 33? Thanks!

Just wanted to share a pic of DD from the other day. She's not interested in rolling over or crawling, but she loves to stand!

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y148/raek622/Julia%20month%207/100_1520.jpg

After I took this picture she turned to see what the flash was, fell onto her butt, then onto her back and rolled onto her side. She looked at me like "what the heck was that??" lol.

Fun getting to know you meme, Soulmate!!

Favorite TV show(s):Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters (go ABC!), and Man vs. Wild on Discovery :o .

One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Run a marathon.

Favorite part of pregnancy: baby hiccups and baby dance party when I played music through earphones on my belly.

Worst part of pregnancy: Getting up to pee at night.

First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: When I had my first chiropractic adjustment after having the baby. Not having the table adjusted for my belly made me miss having him in there. It was about a week postpartum.

The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time:When he is breastfeeding, he can't get over the urge to put things in his mouth, so he tried to stick his finger in there while he is nursing. Then he get all confused when the milk stops. Cracks me up every single time.

One thing that is on your list to do before you die: - I want to see my kids grow and live their lives fully.
Favorite part of pregnancy: - the big belly
Worst part of pregnancy: - daily puking for months (less w/DD, thankfully, only the first 4 1/2-5 months daily).
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: I don't feel empty w/DD

Carla - Sounds like you DS is doing great!! An almost 10lb weight gain from birth is awesome. Great job momma! (and I just read your meme-- B loves to stick his fingers in his mouth while I'm nursing him too-- cracks me up).

Sophia - Hey! Good to see you :) Love those pictures -- especially that last one with the big open mouth grin. So cute! I'm trying not to stress about Braeden developing his gross motor skills either. I hear a lot of "I thought boys develop their motor skills quicker than girls?" and I try to ignore it. I think babies develop on their own timeline, regardless of their gender! He does well with his fine motor skills and is very verbal, so all in due time :)

Nuhmah - We've had clingy/cranky times too. Let the separation anxiety begin! Ugh.

makena - So sorry about the sleep issues :( Vent away! Sending good thoughts and some sleep dust your way. Yay for sweet potatoes! Cracking up about your DH :D

Great idea on the meme, Soulmate!
Favorite TV show(s): Veronica Mars, Grey's Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, 24, Heroes, The Office, Scrubs (thank goodness for DVR!)
One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Go to Greece and Ireland to see where my ancestors are from
Favorite part of pregnancy: I loved being pregnant, so it's hard to pick just one thing -- the belly, feeling him move, being proud of my body, letting myself indulge a little with food... I could go on and on!
Worst part of pregnancy: The paranoia (especially in the 1st trimester), the pain I was experiencing the last 2 days I was pregnant, opting to get an induction (because the pain was so bad)
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Probably after the initial adreline rush wore off. I had the baby blues BAD for about 3-4 weeks and a lot of it had to do with my body feeling empty now that he was on the outside. Not that I wasn't overjoyed with his arrival, but it was definitely different than I imagined. I still get a little "jealous" when I see preggo bellies.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: When he talks to himself (in the mirror) or other babies. He gets so excited and literally screams-- it's like he can't contain his excitement!

TM can you please change my age to 32 and my DH's to 37. Thanks

Great Idea on the Getting to know you Meme:

Favorite TV show(s): Grey's Anatomy, any CSI, House, ER
One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Watch my children grow and live the life that they want for themselves.
Favorite part of pregnancy: Feeling them move and kick me.
Worst part of pregnancy: The uncertainty
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Can't remember really feeling empty
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: When he rolls onto his belly and then gets REALLY mad since he can't roll back to his back, but the instant you put him back on his belly, he rolls back to his belly. That and his belly laughs when his sister gets him going.

DS turns 6 months next week, and we are going for his 6month WBV on Friday. I'm very excited to hear what his stats are.

He still isn't sleeping all that great, but we are working on it, and we are now swaddle free for almost 2 weeks now. It wasn't as bad a transition as I thought it was going to be, and he seems to really like having his hands free, so much so that he is now my second thumb sucker!

I look forward to meeting the July Momma's. I may actually be able to keep up now!

One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Gondola ride in Venice.
Favorite part of pregnancy: Seriously, the whole thing. I loved being pregnant
Worst part of pregnancy: The contractions every 2 minutes when I went from 2-9cm alone in my living room in about 2 hours.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all:Not really. I still can't believe he's here and I was actually surprised how much I don't miss being pregnant after enjoying it so much!

One thing that is on your list to do before you die: See my child(ren) grow up.
Favorite part of pregnancy: Everything. I loved being pregnant
Worst part of pregnancy: My entire L&D experience. It was awful and I felt like I had no say in anything.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Earlier this week, actually. I had a dream that I was sitting on my couch, still pregnant, and watching DD move around. I woke up and wanted to cry because I missed it so much.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: She kicks her feet whenever she gets excited, and she kicks her feet like crazy. She has also started sticking her tongue out and I love that!

Not much time right now, just wanted to subscribe, say Hello to the August Moms and say thanks to MKVH for the awesome thread!! You did a ton of work!

I can't believe how many babies are standing already! DD feels very strong in her legs and sometimes will get on all fours and rock, but isn't all that interested in trying stuff. However, if she's laying all the way back on her Boppy, she can sit herself back up. I'm guessing I'll go get her from a nap one day and she'll be sitting up in the crib.

Favorite TV show(s): Heroes, My Name is Earl, The Office (US)
Favorite part of pregnancy: The fact that it was pretty easy and problem-free.
Worst part of pregnancy: Not exactly pregnancy related, but the fact that DD was in NICU still bothers me terribly. I hate the fact that we didn't have a normal post-partum stay and we didn't have the family bonding that we should have had.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: I had some terrible times when DD was colicky and DH was working 12 hour days. But luckily those days seem so long ago.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: She has been making a "wub wub" sound that I LOVE, it's so cute.

Here is a recent picture, I bought that shirt for her at least a year ago and it fits now.... kinda surreal because I remember thinking it was sooo big. :D

Favorite TV show(s): 24, Gilmore Girls, Lost, Greys Anatomy
One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Get to see my husband dance with DD at her wedding
Favorite part of pregnancy: The fact that I actually got pregnant and stayed pregnant.
Worst part of pregnancy: It sounds cliche to say L&D, but it was true. I was supposed to be induced on 8/8. I had a whole wonderful "last day" planned on 8/7. I also had never had had any Braxton-Hicks, so to go from 0-60 in 15 minutes: ie water broke at midnight on 8/7, 5 minutes later contractions started and were immediately 3-4 minutes apart. I didn't get to ease into labor at all.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: I definitely missed being pregnant more than I expected, though I don't know if I would call it empty. One thing I regret about my 0-60 labor was that I never got to take one last look at myself pregnant. I really wish DH had taken a picture of me. I didn't get to relish those last hours with her inside me.

Thank you so much for doing all the work to combine the threads. My original due date was 7/31, but but the time I got my BFP the July thread had gotten so established so I decided to go with the new thread, but I've been lurking on the July thread all along.

DD has been rolling front to back a ton today, but she seems to have no desire to try to do back to front. She's doing really good with her sitting. I don't dare leave her, but I sit behind her so she can fall over on me.

I was EPing (Sophia is my hero for still doing it!) until 4 months and we've been supplementing since then. I am almost done pumping, but I've got a huge freezer stash so she'll been getting some BM every day probably until she's 8 months old. We started solids at 5 months - she's had rice, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots and green beans. We're doing it pretty slowly - trying all the Gerber 1st foods will probably take us to about 7 months - then we'll go to more meals a day, plus I'll think about making some of our food (once I have some more room in my freezer!)

We just bought Size 3 Pampers Cruisers today. We have our 6 month WBV on Valentine's Day. Weighing her today I think she's about 18 lbs! She was 9lb 3 oz when she was born, but was slow to gain for the first 2 months. Now she's become rolly-polly.

Favorite part of pregnancy: Eating ice cream or milkshakes every day.
Worst part of pregnancy: Bedrest. Twice weekly NSTs. And being told repeatedly that I "might have a baby today" from 36w on and ending up being induced ON MY DUE DATE.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: The night before I went back to work. I cried, dreading it, but the anticipation was worse than the actuality.

Worst part of pregnancy: Feeling her kick me ; ) - no really, the anxiety of worrying about having another MC, the 10 months of insomnia & 60lb+ weight gain, carpal tunnel

Worst part of pregnancy: Exhaustion.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: I actaully don't miss it at all, although I missed it almost imediately after Mia was born.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: Splashing like crazy in the bath tub and laughing like a lunatic at his sister.

Things are going great here except for in the sleep department...that still sucks (up 4-8 times/night), but I'm over it. J has only STTN twice EVER (and by that I mean a 5 hour stretch)...owell. So different than his sister.

I think we have the rolling around covered - if I put him on the floor and leave the room, he's usually about 6 feet away from where I put him by the time I get back! And he sleeps on his stomach. He is always on his stomach - he's starting to put his butt up in the air and tries to scoot around, but he usually goes backward.

Favorite TV show(s): I only regularly watch the Food Network. I like The Office, though.
One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Sail around the world with DH when we retire.
Favorite part of pregnancy: Watching my whole belly move when he rolled around in there
Worst part of pregnancy: Gaining 44 lbs!
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Nothing specific - I do remember feeling my belly and missing feeling him move in there
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: He sucks his lips into his mouth and raises his eyebrows - he looks like Bitter Beer Face

Here he is from his first meal of solids the other day (broccoli) - first he was hesitant then he was shoving it in his mouth like Jabba the Hutt (sorry about the redeye):

Favorite part of pregnancy: my belly, taking good care of myself so DD would be healthy (weird, I know)
Worst part of pregnancy: Peeing so much, random contractions, various pains, Only being able to sleep in certain positions
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Physically- When I got out of the bed about 30 minutes after delivery... my stomach felt so empty & just plain weird. Mentally- I miss being pregnant all the time b/c of the ease of everything... it was so easy to do anything/everything carrying her in my belly compared to now!
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: She has just started sticking her tongue out & feeling her bottom teeth... she looks so funny doing it. Also, she squeels at the dogs to get their attention.

stats update, I'm 27; DH is 31 now

Anyone have any tips for getting a sick baby to eat/drink?

We had a really rough week... DD ended up spending a week in the hospital with pneumonia and a stomach bug. She's lost a good bit of weight and really has to be coaxed into having a bottle...I have to sing and keep offering every half hour to hour. I've offered a little solid food too (bananas on my doctor's suggestion since she's recovering from diarrhea a few days ago), and she had a few bites yesterday but today she wouldn't have any. We'll probably take her back to the doctor for one more check up if she still seems so reluctant to eat tomorrow, but any suggestions?

I did a little retail therapy today - for me and DD. Before I was pg I never like peach clothes but ended up with 3 maternity shirts in peach. I saw a shirt I really liked but when I tried it on I realized it looked like one of my maternity shirts, and while it fit right, I just couldn't buy it - psychologically I felt like it made me look pregnant!

I didn't do too much damage for E's wardrobe either - she's definitely got some life left in some of her 3-6 month clothes, especially her Carter's shirts. It's her pants and some other brands that don't fit. But I don't want to buy too much 6-9 month stuff now because I have no idea how long she'll be in them. All the spring clothes were in at BRU and Gymboree - they are all so cute. I can't wait to buy her pretty summery stuff.

maybebaby-I am so sorry that your little one is sick. :( I don't have any magical answers either. I know that once when DD was sick and was worried about dehydration, the nurse had me take a syringe of pedilyte and give that her every :30 minutes or so.

Very much so. DS was crawling at 6m1d and walked at 9m3d, and DD1 also crawled before 7m and walked before 10m. DD2 just started rolling regularly in the past few weeks. She'd done it before, but would go weeks between rolls. It's going to be quite some time before she can crawl. She doesn't even scoot on her belly, but she can scoot on her back, silly girl. I keep telling myelf each kid is different and that she's still within the normal range.

Q for RO:

Totally...Jackson's no where near crawling (which is FINE by me...I know how much more work it's going to be once he does!) and doesn't roll all that much, though he can. He's pretty content to just sit and watch his sister. He also seems less social than Mia was at this age...Mia and I can get him to laugh and smile easily, but he has no time for anyone else.

Ashley - I too was going to suggest Pedialyte, but since we've never used it, I have no idea if it works. Anyway, L has done almost everything later than A did it so far. He is, however, very interested in crawling and tries to lurch forward all the time. A crawled at 8 months, so he may well 'beat her' to that one.

Joelle - wahoo for the rolling! We found L under the coffee table several times yesterday. Fun stuff!

Favorite part of pregnancy: Watching L roll around. (DD hardly ever moved at all - seriously, like once a day - so it was a cool novelty this go-round)
Worst part of pregnancy: Er, most of the experience (unfortunately) - I really haven't enjoyed pgcy much (though it makes me very, very sad to say that). The 24/7 debilitating nausea, the daily multiple vomits the entire 38 weeks, having to be on Zofran to function and care for my DD, the preterm labor threat followed by bedrest, and then after all that, being induced because L didn't want to come out.... And so on. I'm hoping that whenever we have #3, it will be the exception to my rule.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: N/A really.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: L laughs whenever DD gets in trouble.

maybebaby ~ (Laura?) I hope your DD feels better!!

Mystikal ~ DS loves to stand up too! It's so funny!

Ack! Already this thread is way busier than our little August thread...not even going to attempt to catch up with SOs...but I will do the meme ;)

Favorite TV show(s): Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Medium, Scrubs...uh, I could go on...I love TV!
One thing that is on your list to do before you die: See my children grow up and be happy
Favorite part of pregnancy: All of it! I loved being pg, loved feeling DS move, loved watching my body do what it was meant to do.
Worst part of pregnancy: The first tri nausea and horrible acid reflux
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: Never.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: Two things: (1) when he belly laughs and (2) when he kicks his legs and wiggles like crazy when he's excited.

I didn't initially answer the question about what DD does that makes me laugh, because while I think everything she does is cute, I couldn't think of one thing that made me laugh.

After dinner tonight, I finally have one. DD has loved all her pureed food so far, despite all my friend's having kids who either didn't like sweet potatoes, beans or peas. She loved them all. I mixed together mashed avacadoes with some BM. She either hated the taste, or didn't know what to make of the texture. But the look on her face was priceless. Too bad DH wasn't there initially with the camera. He hated avacadoes- hopefully she won't take after his tastes. He doesn't like a lot of things, and likes crappy foods.

If she doesn't poop by tomorrow night I think we'll have to try a "P" fruit next, though I have been trying to put off fruits until six months.

so, I have some really BIG news to share with you all....and it is mainly b/c of this thread that the idea even got into my head

I am going to open my own online baby store!!! I mentioned the idea in passing to my MIL on Wednesday, she spilled the beans to my FIL that night and tonight we had THE talk! I guess the timing was really right b/c he just made some serious cash on some business transaction and it is burning a hole in his pocket. If it were a month later, that money probably would have been already tied up in some investment.

So...I am planning on carrying my (our) favorite and unsual products from pregnancy to kid. I want to focus on what I have been describing as an upscale crunch. I want to choice funky stylish products that could be at home anywhere from Boulder to Madison AVe.

So please, let me know if I ramble too much about stuff, Please feel free to let me know about products and lines that you can't live without.

I have a pretty good idea of the lines that I want to start with, and what the website should look like (although I probably can't afford it ) I am really excited about this.

There is a children's clothing show for the fall line in March In NYC. I will attend that, along with my MIL. Opening this business will probably bring the two of us closer since she is quite the shopper and has a good eye

So next up is designing a logo, making business cards, and starting vendor inquiries. I have to come up with a financial business plan quickly since FIL is already requesting it.

Maryanne - Good Luck! I'm sure that all you've learned in the past 6 months will be very useful!

maybebaby/B]- So sorry to hear you DC is sick! I know that Gerber makes a Liquidlyte (similiar to Pedialite) too. My pedi recommends it for babies.

[B]mia's mama - Sorry you are in sleep hell too! I can barely function, so I have no idea how you are doing it w/ a toddler also. I had a meltdown on Saturday (see prior post!) but am doing better today. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but I have to remind myself that all babies are different - especially when i hear about all these babies that are STTN!

Okay, now for me:

Favority TV Shows - CSI, The office, Law & Order (especially reruns), most shows on HGTV, esp House Hunters, the food network (amyinLA - I dont watch Grey's either!)
one thing to do before I die - Travel more - I guess that's more than one thing!
Favorite part of pregnancy - feeling DD move
worst part of pregnancy- Morning sickness, retaining water like the Hoover Dam (FL in July - go figure!), peeing non stop
First time you felt empey after having DC if at all- none
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: - her giggle gets me everytime!

maybebaby - try giving her 5ml of Pedialyte with a syringe every 5 minutes while awake. I suggest setting your oven timer to keep reminding you. Kids shut down when they are sick. DS has an awful ear infection last week and then started puking from the antibiotics. No kidding, I was lucky to get 8 oz in him a few days but he somehow remained hydrated. She should be having wet diapers at least every 8 hours and her lips/mouth shouldn't be bone dry. If all that is well and she has some energy your probably OK in the hydration department. Oh, and I'd do applesauce over banana. It has more water in it and it helps with diarrhea. Good luck! What a bummer, the poor thing.

Maryanne - what a neat idea! Good luck!

I think DD is starting to cut teeth. she was just super cranky yesterday, has a runny nose and is poopy. I put some Orajel on her and DH said he could see the teeth starting to come out. I think she's getting two (but what do I know; I have no idea what I'm feeling!!) on her top. But, I put the Orajel on both her top and bottom just to help.

Hello to all the Aug mommas!

Getting to know you...

fav tv show: all my favs are now on too late for me to watch them since I go to bed at 9:30...man I need a dvr. I do still love The Office and Scrubs.
Before I die: scuba dive, travel, finish my godforesaken phd
best part of pregnancy: I really LOVED being pregnant...the belly, feeling him move, the anticipation of delivery...I could go on and on
worst part: not eating/drinking (mostly the latter) whatever I wanted
"empty feeling:" Not long after Drew was born I had a fluttery feeling in my stomach. My first reaction was "oh the baby's moving." Uh, no, the baby is in your arms. Like Wrighty mentioned, I too also get oddly jealous when I see other preg bellies!
what make me laugh: I was reading to him last night and he was just staring at me cooing and giggling. Nothing better than that! Oh and he constantly purses his lips. Dh and I call it his old man face and it always makes me laugh.

Red wagons: if anyone is thinking about getting one of these I highly recommend doing it! I thought ds was going to be still too small but since he sits unassisted now we thought we'd try out the one he got for Christmas. LOVED it! I really think he thought he was the coolest kid on earth.

amyinlosangelos: I really truly believed I was the only person in the world that didn't watch Grey's!

Jen- just wanted to address you question on the other thread about our lab... I got to admit that we can't give credit to ourselves, we just did the 'traditional things' everybody does, like bringing a onesize from the hospital, let him smell M when we got home. Other than that, we always made sure we encourage Chopp to smell the baby whenever he wanted to, it just so happen that he is really good with him.

Here is a pic of the little one...

Maryanne - Good luck! Keep us updated :D

Babywish - Cute picture!

Wagons - Braeden got a RF Navigator Wagon for Christmas and I can't wait to try it out :) He's still a little floppy, so I'll probably wait for a month or two. The age recommendation is 1.5 years and up-- and I'm wondering why so old?? It's not like I'm going to be zipping him around that fast!

All of you people missing out on Grey's -- You are MISSING OUT! :) I have to say I am impressed that I was able to watch it while I was pregnant since a lot of the (sad) storylines deal with babies/l&d/etc. It has me bawling my eyes out almost every week!

Update on Braeden's head - The ped called this morning and wants to refer us to a pediatric neurosurgeon for his flat spot he still has (and it's pretty pronounced) on his right side. I'm glad the Dr. is proactive about this! Even if the ped neuro says it's all good, better safe than sorry! If he DOES end up having to wear a helmet, I'd rather him do it sooner than later.

Wrighty26 - We are going this afternoon to see a pediatric neurosurgeon this afternoon about Elizabeth's head. I would be surprised if she isn't put into a helmet. She has torticollis (crooked head due to unbalanced neck muscles due to her being in-utero in a weird way) so her flattening isn't in the middle like most kids. I'll update here as well as in here:helmet thread (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25511).

Operation No Swaddle went pretty well. Friday and Saturday DH got her down very easily. There weren't too many awakenings in the night and none with crying (though I did feed her at 5:20 Sunday morning so she'd let us sleep until 9). Last night we tried the sleep sack since I was nervous about the blanket. I don't know if it was the sleep sack or that she slept a lot yesterday, but she did wake up more last night, but still nothing more than a binky replacement needed.

It's going to be hard for me to s/o to those I want to...I'll try a general approach ;)

Grey's non-watchers For shame! It is the best most addictive show out there!

TV shows I forgot about How I Met Your Mother! I love that show! It is just so entertaining. Plus you want to find out who the mother is. Regardless, it is the longest how I met your mother stories ever.

Wrighty and jessybell I hope your little ones don't need helmets but wrighty is right ( ;) ) that it is better now than later.

Wrighty I had no idea you had so much pain the last couple of days. I had DS by then and was all consumed by that that I never read about your days leading up to delivery.

babywish and emmjay Such cute little guys!

mia's mama DS does the same exact thing! It makes getting pictures so much harder. As soon as that orange light turns on on the camera he turns to stone. So frustrating!

Lizard I LOVE that shirt...where did you get it?

maryanne How cool about your business idea. I wish I had the guts to do that. My horoscope is supposed to be amazing for starting new ideas/career opportunities but I can't think of a darned thing...then when I do I don't have the guts to do it. So kudos!

Well, DS is allergic to bananas :( What a strange thing to be allergic to. But I think I may be too (very mildly) so maybe he gets it from me. But he develops a rash on his face/neck/tummy pretty much as he is eating them. He loves them so much too!

A new thing I am loving loving loving about DS is that he has gotten sooo excited about seeing me. When I pick him up from daycare he actually squeals when he sees me and in the a.m. I'll peer over his crib and he'll go crazy then if I go out of site he'll start to fuss only to get excited again when he sees me. Before I'd get smiles or enthusiastic smiles...but he just gets so excited now. I love it!

I thought it was bananas but that's not it? so not sure what it is but sensitive skin? cold weather????DS also got it once in reaction to the detergent we were using. Is the rash always there or does it come and go? DS gets his as he exposed to whatever bothers him and goes away pretty quickly once the allergen is gone. It looks like he is flushed or gets a little patch of hives on his torso. He also started to grab at the neck of his bib and pajamas as he was eating like maybe he was having a hard time swallowing. His reaction has gotten worse each time as he used to do just fine w/ bananas.

The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: her smiles and laughs get me everytime

We had our 6 month WBV on 1/18. She weighed 14lbs and was 24 1/2". (she was 5 wks premature and born at 5lb 7 oz)

So I'm starting to worry here and I need someone to tell me not too. I'm kind of stressing about her (lack of) physical development. She hated, hated tummy time so we've recently been making great efforts to help her with this. Now during tummy time we no longer have tantrums, but she's still not lifting her chest like I think she should. Forget about thought of crawling. She rolled over for the first time right after the New Year and has prceeded to do it a whopping 4 times ever. She topples over forward when we try to sit. I just don't want her to be 12 years old and I'm still carrying her around the house.

Irrational fears, I know.....

Soulmate - OMG, I LOVE your Avatar. Look at your little man-- he's so cute! I think B has a slight reaction to bananas too, it's hard to say though because he seems to have pretty senstive skin. Apparently, I was allergic when I was a baby (I eat them all the time now). They gave me horrible diaper rash (according to my mom). Yes, I was in a good deal of pain -- brought on because I decided to go to spinning class (on 4th of July). I swear to God that during that class he decided to engage! The next day I went to my Dr. appt and he was SO low that she had a hard time checking me. I think that the Dr. said he was at a +1 station. She then talked me into an induction. I was so weak! Next time - that's NOT going to happen! So cute that Logan squeals when he sees you! I know you were a little worried that he wouldn't recognize his "mama" -- but it looks like there are no problems there!

jessybell - Thanks for that link... I was actually planning on checking it out later tonight. Braeden's head isn't flat in the back either -- but on the right side. I should see if I can take a picture of it. One of the things that worries me (and I'm thinking WAY far ahead on this) is that my insurance may not cover a helmet because it's considered "orthotic." I'm hoping that there are ways around it though (if it comes to that).

klav - Sounds like eczema to me, although I'm no expert! We just talked to the ped about this on Friday because B has a little bit of a rash (it's been cold and dry here - which tends to make it flare up). She recommended washing with Dove bar soap (not the hair though - since it causes tears) or with Aveeno Baby products. She recommended Aquaphor/Eucerin for lotion (or Aveeno Baby products) after all baths. Oh and she also said to keep washing with Dreft (or the generic equivilant).

Today is my first day back "full time." While I have been working 40 hours a week, I have been working about 8 hours from home, mainly in the afternoons. Project Baby Swap started today though -- and my friend's DH is watching B from 12:30-3:30 3 days a week (while my DH will be watching their little girl in the mornings). I got here at 6:45 -- and I'm so procrastinating right now-- only 25 more minutes till I can leave to pick up my little monkey!!

E&O - I was actually reading something today, while I was researching plagiocephaly, that eased my fears about development. Many babies who do not sleep in the prone position, tend to reach their developmental milestones later. However, this is not a problem because most STILL reach their milestones within the span of time they are supposed to. They are just not "early learners." I don't doubt that soon enough you will be wishing for the days your DD was immobile! I understand the fear though. I'm always thinking, "is this normal?" I think that there are a lot of early learners here on CC too. I've learned I just cannot compare!

emmjay
01-29-2007, 11:52 AM
rash - Seamus had one too the other day, but it was because I switched detergents from a Free & Clear one to an all-natural one with orange in it. I tend to get similar rashes with some detergents (looks like little pin pricks), so I knew what it was. I had washed one of his onesies in it, and when I took it off he looked like he was wearing a pinprick onesie! It didn't seem to bother him at all though. Oh, he also had one when DH put an unwashed, new bib on him - he had it around his neck where the bib touched. I have really sensitive skin as well, so I guess he was unlucky and inherited that from me!

E&O - don't worry! My niece hated tummy time and rolled over ONE time when she was 4 months old, then not again until 9 months. She was totally normal and on schedule for crawling and walking and the rest of it, so don't worry! One thing you could try is laying down and putting her propped up on your chest/stomach with her knees/feet on the floor - sort of leaning up against you. I did that with DS when he hated tummy time and he liked it better. It helped him strengthen his torso as well.

Oh, DH and I are planning a long weekend in Mexico for our anniversary in May. My mom is going to watch Seamus. I can't wait! I just need to figure out where we are going to go.

Chimichanga

E&O - if your baby was 5 weeks premature, you have to figure where DC should be at the due date. So, if my DD was due August 16th but came July 1st, I should figure out her development based on the 8/16 date rather than her true birth date. what does your ped say?

rash - Reagan's been getting a bit of one under her chin/neck area. We thought it was due to her being a messy eater and getting formula stuck under there. We clean out well, but if she's sleeping we try not to wake her. DH put some diaper cream on the rash and it went away. He told me this AFTER he did it so if I was going to freak out, it was too late.

This thread is moving! I fear I will never be able to keep up...but a few things...

babywish ~ Marc is so adorable! I don't think I've seen a pic of him in a while.

JenniferH ~ Jake is a crappy sleeper during the day unless we are out running errands. He naps great for the nanny but won't give me more than 45 mins. Honestly, as long as he is STTN I don't care! LOL!

jesseybell ~ Good luck w/ the dr appt for Elizabeth. Let us know how it goes!

Soulmate ~ that's so adorable! DS does the same thing for me and I *love* it! He kicks his legs and squeals and is just sooo happy to see me. It's kind of like having a puppy :p

E&O ~ It is very easy to get concerned about milestones when we are all constantly comparing our babies to what other babies are doing. It doesn't sound like your DD is behind at all. It's only been in the last week or so that my DS doesn't topple forward when he sits up. And per my pediatrician, it doesn't matter how many times your child rolls over, just that s/he CAN roll over...your DD can do it and she just chooses not to. Some kids are not rollers. DS has only rolled front to back a few times b/c he doesn't really enjoy being on his tummy. And don't you still have to adjust her age when it comes to developmental milestones b/c she was premature??

soulmate, klav, wrighty ~ Ah! Other babies with sensitive, rash-prone skin! DS is the SAME WAY. He always has a rash of some kind on his body (not usually his face though). I think it's eczema and will ask the ped about it in Feb for his 6 mo WBV. I'm going to switch to Aveeno bath products. But I've tried Aquaphor when he had newborn eczema on his face and it made it worse. It never really occurred to me that his rashes might be an allergy to a food...although he has only ever had oatmeal, pears, peaches and sweet potato...

***

We are taking DS to Florida on Thurs to visit family. I'm totally anxiety ridden over it. Any words of wisdom?

And since he's had 3 ear infections already, I'm taking him to the ped tomorrow morning just to make sure he doesn't have another one before we fly.

Grey's--ITA with Soulmate; you guys who don't watch DON'T know what you're missing ;)

Milestones--Since I am ultra competitive, I certainly began making it a contest in my head. But then I became conscious of it, and it is VERY interesting to note how different babies develop at different rates and "excel" in different areas. I think Wrighty mentioned that a friend's daughter is way ahead in gross motor skills but not nearly as verbal as B. It intrigues me!

Wrighty and jessybell--I hope that the neuros have good news!

Rashes--DD has the WORST chapped cheeks and chin. It's awful, no matter how much lotion we put on it. I smear A&D ointment on her whenever I can. And Chimi, we put diaper cream in her neck rolls, too. I figure the rash is caused by dark and damp (my ped actually said it could be yeast!), so diaper cream should work! Speaking of "free" detergents, I was SO excited to find "free" Downy. yay!

And per my pediatrician, it doesn't matter how many times your child rolls over, just that s/he CAN roll over...your DD can do it and she just chooses not to. Some kids are not rollers.

My Pedi said the exact same thing! At 6.5 months, my DD has rolled from back to front about 5 times total and has never gone from front to back. She will roll onto her side and does that all the time - especially to sleep.

Favorite TV show(s): Amazing Race, 24, Gilmore Girls, Heros (add me to the few that don't watch Grey's)
One thing that is on your list to do before you die: Watch my kids grow up
Favorite part of pregnancy: Feeling her move around in there
Worst part of pregnancy: I was so hot all the time. I'm hot natured anyway, so being 9 months pregnant in July in Texas was miserable.
First time you felt "empty" after having DC if at all: The day I got home, I was sitting on the couch and could swear I felt her move around in my tummy. It was kind of surreal to look over and see her sitting in her bouncy chair.
The (most recent) thing your DC does that makes you laugh every time: She's learned to say our dog's name (bailey). I love hearing her in the living room going "bay bay, bay bay" So cute.

Gosh, this thread is really busy now. I've been out of pocket the past few days because my best friend just had a baby. She was in labor forever--I spent all day at the hospital yesterday waiting, and she finally delivered a precious little girl last night. It's so hard to believe that just 7 months ago, my DD was that little. Crazy.

I don't have time for SO's cause K. just woke up, but I wanted to add her to the list of babies who are sensitive/allergic to bananas. She gets a rash every time. No biggie though cause she doesn't really like them anyway.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. I totally understand that I really should be judging everything by her "adjusted age" and I am doing that, so I know we're not as far behind as it seems. =) But, geez! I'm even seeing August babies (her original due date) surpassing her. Slow your kids down ladies! =)

Oddly our ped has not asked too many questions about her gross motor skills. At our 6month check-up the doc did watch how well she held her head up. (Which I do admit she does very well)

But at about 4 months we had a developmental assesment done on her (this is something that is done free of charge for any premie babies born in our county). She was in the average range for everything but tummy skills, where she was in the danger zone for her real age, at the at risk zone for her adjusted age. This is why we've made such a push for tummy time and I guess everything else will come along in due time.

Wrighty & jesseybell, I hope the neuro appts go well.

Well, we had a portrait session today. Here are a couple of my faves. I'll be removing them in a few days.

She sits up very well now. She was able to stay seated for half an hour all by herself. :)

But this is what she does when she's on her belly. She still hates it, so she's not even attempting to push herself up or anything. And she kept rolling over onto her back because she likes that better.

Rash Add me to the group of people who's DC has sensitive skin. DD is allergic to dairy products and soy - she would break out in the worst rashes, scratching, etc. She just had another outbreak and I was scared it was due to another allergy but it seems that the dry heat (very cold over here) just makes her excema worse. I use Cetaphil to wash you, aquahor for cream and have had to use prescription hydrocortisone to clear up the rash. I can't wait for winter to be over.

Sophia She is SO cute and chubby. I just want to kiss those cheeks! How much does she weigh now?

Emmjay Your trip to Mexico sounds like it's going to be fun! Enjoy planning

Grey's OK, I'm going to have to run for cover here - I've watched a couple of Grey's episodes and to me, it's okay. I can stand to miss a couple of episodes - it's not a must-watch for me..:p <dunking for cover>

milestones - I try not to compare too much - especially to moms online. It is hard though, I have a neice who is only 5 1/2 months older than DD. I just remind myself that all babies develop at different rates and as long as she's not behind, I'm not concerned. :)

Sophia

Amaye, thanks. :) She was 16lbs 5oz and 25" at her 6 month wbv. She's in the 7th percentile for length and the 50th for weight. :o

Rash/Skin: She gets a drool rash on her chin and around her mouth, and her cheeks get dry. Her drool rash isn't nearly as bad as what DS used to get, though.

Milestones: She's at the late end of the normal range. DS was at the very early end of the normal range, and DD1 was, too, although not quite as early as DS. I have to keep reminding myself that it's ok that DD2 isn't super early at everything, and that it doesn't mean there's anything *wrong* with her, but it's hard because I keep thinking of how it was with my other two, plus I see posts on CC and LJ where younger babies are so far ahead.

rash - Reagan's been getting a bit of one under her chin/neck area. We thought it was due to her being a messy eater and getting formula stuck under there. We clean out well, but if she's sleeping we try not to wake her. DH put some diaper cream on the rash and it went away. He told me this AFTER he did it so if I was going to freak out, it was too late.I once asked DH to put vasaline on DS after a bath. Unsupervised, DH put bag balm (medicated vasaline) on him instead! It didn't bother DS at all. I guess we can't leave our DHs unsupervised either ;)

Wrighty Thanks for the compliments on the avatar. I am experimenting with a photoshop trick that is not going the way I want it. But I love the pic unaltered.

Sophia/Hating Tummy Time This is DS during recent pics when they tried to put him on his tummy. It lasted on 10 seconds but we got this very funny pic. He looks like an A&F model or something.

other than his food intakes I was thinking it was from Him putting his hands in his mouth a drooling all over the place and the saliva going all over his face. we have only been out a few times due to it being soo cold and windy. I can't put my finger on what it is I have not introduced any new foods. peaches pears, apples, green beans, squash, peas, carrots is about it with rice or oatmeal ?? maybe I can get a good picture of it?

Sophia - She's SO cute!! I love that last one - it looks like the photographer said, "Now give me serious..." I really like the dress you picked out too! It goes great with both backgrounds :)

Soulmate - What a little heartbreaker! He's ready for his Baby GQ cover shoot :)

Klav - I agree, it could be saliva. I would just keep lathering him up! Sorry that Liam's surgery has been pushed back. What's that all about?

Jesseybell - I meant to say this earlier - but I hope you had a good appt. today! Please keep us updated.

ocgatita, Sophia , Soulmate and jennylou - cute pics! Sophia, you really must be proud of yourself for EPing for this long. That is fantastic.

klav - I hope you can get an earlier appt. Waiting until April is crazy!

Wrighty - I am sort of apprehensive about leaving him for 5 nights. But my mom will be watching him, so I think I will be missing him more than worrying about him. As far as where we're going: we like little towns/villages with not too many tourists, so right now we're thinking about Playa Chacala near Puerto Vallarta. The other options were Sayulita (also near PV) and Playa Troncones, which is near Zihuatanejo. But Chacala looks perfect for us so it will probably be that one.

We're already thinking about our 5-year anniversary trip too (this is #3)! That one will be either Panama (DH's choice) or Turkey (my choice).

Other good news I just have to share - DH just called because he just got an 8% bonus, and then they gave him a promotion and a 25% raise as well! Woo hoo! :D

Everyone's babies are so cute! I'll have to upload a picture of Elizabeth soon. I am hoping for one day of snow so we can get the typical first snow picture.

Neuro Appointment- After many nights of lost sleep, I am happy it is over and happy to report that she does not need a helmet. While she definitely has a flattening behind her left ear, her facial proportions are symmetrical and some measurements he took showed her skull to be proportional as well. He did not feel that it was necessary. If we really wanted one for asthetic purposes he would have given her one, but didn't recommend it. Some parents are so freaked out by the flatness that they want the helmet. He does was us to try to get her to sleep with the pressure on her right side, and increase her tummy time/time off her head and he thinks that should be enough to even it out. I am breathing a big sigh of relief.
Wrighty26 - In the helmet thead there is link to a Yahoo! group which I joined - it has good information. Some of the information has letters and links, etc. to get help with getting your insurance to pay for the helmet.

Neck rash- Because of her torticollis, we have a harder time than everyone else getting into her neck on her right side to get it clean, so if we aren't deligent about it every day (and under the chin as well), it gets really nasty and raw looking.

I am very sensitive to detergents - we use the Tide Free and we use Dreft for her.

We didn't have to try "P" fruits pre-maturely afterall. After 2 days of constipation, she unloaded like crazy on my parents' watch :) We will try bananas probably in a week - it will be interesting to see if she has any reaction.

Leaving DD- We've been apart from her on 2 separate nights. In May we are flying to Florida with her and leaving her with MIL while we go on a 4 night cruise for our 2 year anniversary. I am really looking forward to it (though I will miss DD) - it will be our last horrah before we start ttc #2 in July.

Holy cow.....I knew we were talking about merging threads, but can't believe it took 11 pages for me to notice!!! So, SO's are pretty much out of the question.

But Jesseybelle - I am very glad to hear that Reagan does not need a helmet...that is so great!

I wanted to post to share some good news. After going back to work FT on December 11th (a brand new job) my DH and I have decided that I am putting in my notice and will be looking for a PT job. It is a long story, but the FT job is just not working out. I have NO time to do anything and my weekends are spent getting caught up on chores that were left undone during the week. Plus, I never had time with Lily. In addition, my DH travels quite a bit which basically means I am a single parents 10-12 days a month...it was just too much. I have also been sick since Dec 5th and I can't seem to fight it off (I am actually 15 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight) and I am just physically and emotionally drained. We looked at the finances and we both think we can make it work. I know ALOT of you do this and I thought I could, and I am a bit ashamed to admit that I can't handle it...but I can't.

About sleep - I second the sleep regression thing. For the last week Lily has been waking several times during the night. She is also going to bed later and waking earlier. (She normally is a great sleeper. 5 1/2 hrs the night she came home from the hospital...and 10 hrs by about 6-8 wks). I was wondering if it is a sign of teething? She is drooling like crazy!

Klav - I read through the thread...and I must have missed it...but what is the surgery for?

Ok....hopefully I can keep up more.

wrighty the apt is to have him circumcised again. it was not done so well the first time

so I'm sitting here in the dark at 6 am panicking because we are short for the months bills and to top it off the vacuum and the washer went up yesterday! we just don't have the money! what the hell am I going to do?

klav - I'm right there with you! DH got let go from his job in December and hasn't found another. A "joe job" he applied for will be another 2-4 weeks before we even know if he's hired. We could eek it out on my salary, but no more saving. It's definitely stressful!

teething - I think Reagan is teething. The poor thing is drooling like mad, has a crazy runny nose and is mouthing EVERYTHING! We've been putting on orajel to help, but we can't use that for more than 7 days. Now she's getting a cough; from what I'm assuming is the snot that is draining down the back of her throat. :( I'm hoping she can just cut these teeth soon so she feels better!

QOTD: Who does DC look like (you or DH)? Is this your first DC?
I'm starting to think first DC look like the dads. When people meet Reagan they say she looks exactly like DH. A co-worker told me is looks like I'm carrying a small, female version of my DH. Reagan is our first DC.

Soulmate - he is so cute! That's really a "come hither" look and I LOVE the one of him all pissed off!

Sophia - she looks just like you! I can't believe you are still EPing. That's great! As soon as I went back to work my supply tanked from pumping so much. You must have great mammary glands!!

Jennylou&ocgatita- adorable!

PLNUBRIDE - I totally understand wanting to work part-time. I am full-time and it's really tough. I am actually in the process of searching for something part-time, but it has to pay close to what I'm making now so it'll be tough. It will probably also require me to work weekends and nights, so it's a trade off. You have to do what works for your family and with DH travelling that's got to be tough!

skin - DS definitely gets the cheesy neck and red, dry patches. I use aquaphor and it totally helps.

leaving DS - well since I work I'm used to leaving him at daycare and with MIL and my mom for the day. That being said we've never left him overnight and I don't really have any immediate plans or desire to do so. I think part of it is guilt that since I work all week that the times I'm not working I just want to spend with him.

vacation - we are going to Singer Island in FL in April and taking N.

QOTD - DS totally is his dad. Everyone says it and then looks at me like "sorry." He is our first. Hey, I'm just glad he's happy and healthy! Now, my bro's daughter is the spitting image of him but SIL's daughter is all mom. So I think it's a crapshoot.

klav and chimichanga - I'm sorry that you guys are both having financial worries. That sucks. I have no advice, just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you. Of course, that doesn't help pay the bills.

PLNUBRIDE - Wow. I honestly don't know how you are working full time while your husband is traveling! You have my total admiration there!

Emmjay - I get a little sad when I think about leaving B when we go on our vacation (even though it's a LONG ways away!), but at the same time I know I will thoroughly enjoy having "us" time. I think it's SO cool that you guys go to little towns/non-touristy places. Definitely keep me updated on your experience!

Leaving DS - We are planning on going out of town in the fall -- possibly just to Tampa a WHOLE hour away -- for a few nights, and leaving Braeden here with one/many of the grandparents (4 sets to choose from!). We actually talked about bringing him, but it really cuts down on the nighttime fun and that's the whole reason we are a planning a little get away.

teething - Teething sucks. Braeden got his first tooth in about 2 weeks ago and his second one is popping through (both on the bottom). The 2nd one wasn't as bad as the first. I've heard the top teeth hurt more though, if so - UGH! He's still a REALLY happy baby, but it did mess up his sleep quite a bit. He's finally back to normal again - wonder how long that will last?

QOTD - People tell me ALL the time that they think Braeden looks like my DH. I agree to an extent, but I see a lot of me in him. Especially when I compare my baby photos! Overall, I think he's a pretty good mix. However - I looked a lot like my mom when I was a baby and now I'm the spitting image of my aunt (dad's sister). I kinda agree that first children tend to look like their fathers (maybe I'm a little biased though!).

Here's the most recent picture of my boys -- not the best one though. (Note to self-- take more pictures of them together!)

wow reagen does look like him. my dd looks just like her daddy too. the ONLY thing she got of mine is my pout (which will come in handy throughout the years.)It does make me sad sometimes b/c people comment about it over and over, especially his family.

klav- ouchies on the surgery. Strength to YOU!

To everyone who is dealing with $$ and job issues, hang in there. The perfect job might be out there. It is so hard, I'll be sending thoughts your way.

General disclaimer to everyone who doesn't know me--I apologize for rarely doing comprehensive SO's. Both my hands are still pretty messed up so I tend to make it short. I am almost always here though :)

General PSA--This is really really scary. I feel like such an idiot. I just found out that my DH and I have been buckling Melody into her car seats WRONG for seven months. How scary! There was a commercial on TV showing a kid getting buckled and I was like WHOA! and just checked online.

(both seats have the five star systems and instead of putting the middle part over the hips, we have brought them under the legs , so that the straps were next to the secured buckle. I questioned it before and got an emphatic reassurance that it was right and never thought to research it more. YIKES!)

Soulmate, too cute!

mmisabel, thanks :) It's easier because I haven't gone back to work.

QOTD: DS looks more like me, DD1 looks more like her dad, and DD2 is a good mix, although I think she looks more like me than DH.

Swing weaning: It's starting to affect her sleep patterns. Yesterday she woke up 45 minutes early. She's usually extremely regular about her wake up time, even on weekends. I'm talking within 5-10 minutes. Then she went to bed an hour early last night. And she woke up 1 1/2 hours early today and has been really pissy ever since. Argh.

Wow this thread really is moving fast!

QOTD: My DD (DC#1) looked A LOT like my DH when she was first born, but now she is looking more and more like I did when I was her age.
Now my DS looks EXACTLY like my DH, so much so that everyone tells me that I am carrying around a miniture DH!

All of the pictures of the babies are adorable! I will have to post a new one of my DS soon.

I will be taking him for his 6 month pictures on Monday! I can't believe that he will be 6 months on Saturday! We have his 6 month WBV on Friday, and i can't wait to find out his stats!

Sleep: My DS started out being a great sleeper, he was sleeping 5 hours in the hospital and then when we first got home, then we went for about 3 weeks without knowing he had reflux, and the sleep changed! He was sleeping about a 6 hour stretch then getting up to nurse, then sleeping again for 3-4 hours...now I am lucky if I get a 4 hour stretch before another 3 or 2 hour stretch! He goes down anywhere between 830 and 9pm, and we have tried to get him down earlier but it is hard with my 2 year old running around since her bedtime is 8pm, and it is even harder when my DH is on 24-hour Duty Watch or when he is at sea for weeks on end and it is just me. I'm not looking forward to him going to sea at the end of February for 2 weeks or in April for 7 weeks! I am just hoping that Liam starts sleeping better now that he is reaching 6 months...that was the magic age for my DD to start ONLY waking once to nurse. He is up usually twice to nurse each night now.

Hope you are all having a good day!

I've read/seen in documentaries that babies look a lot like their dads when they're babies, even if they later look more like mom. It's an evolutionary defense mechanism to reassure the man that the baby he's protecting and providing for is his own. I think this need to comfirm paternity is why people tend to make more comments about a baby looking like dad than they do about a baby looking like mom. Nobody cares if the baby looks like mom because maternity isn't usually questioned.

QOTD: First DS always lloked like me. Many people told my DH to have a paternity test because they look nothing alike, but they have the exact same personality. Sedond DS looks just like DS. Some people like my second DS and first aren't even brothers and that second DS looks so much more like his cousin does.

Wow! That's very interesting. DD started out looking like me but now looks like DH/his family. I saw a baby picture of DH and DD looks exactly like him. Sigh! After all the hard work - I get nothing! :p

JenniferH I hope people were joking about the test??

Teething Still nothing on this end. I spoke to my sisters and their kids got their teeths late so I'm expecting DD to teeth later.

Skin - DD gets dry patches too, mostly on her legs. I put lotion on them but it's only a temporary help. I'm not too worried about it right now. She does have a red patch on her face, I think it's from drooling as she tends to sleep with the left side of her face on the mattress.

Who does DC look like - Everyone on both sides of the family says she looks like DH. I am starting to see a lot more of myself in her, but I do think she's going to look more like the women on DH's side. His brother looks almost identical to him, and he has a daughter... her and DD already look like they could be sisters.

Ugh, our naps have been TERRIBLE for the last week. Her morning nap is great, but she fights sleep the rest of the day. She's always been a 3 (short) napper, so I'm wondering if she's trying to transition to 2 naps. I don't think it's her teeth, as she seems pretty happy when she's well-rested.

Those of you that are BFing, are any of your kids acrobatic nursers? DD has decided she wants to nurse while sitting up. She hates laying down!

We signed up DD for swim lessons! She's tiny but I thought it'd be a fun activity for us. It's 2 nights a week for about a month, starting next week.

Since Jesseybell mentioned a vacation... is anyone else planning a vacation this year? We aren't yet, but I want to go somewhere warm sooo bad. We are cruisers and I want to do another one soon, but DH wants to wait until DD is old enough to enjoy it.

Gotta run, she is sleeping and I need to get ready... I am going to try to use the Kids Club at 24 Hour Fitness while I work out. We haven't used it before - hopefully the waiting line isn't too long...

OK here a situation: washer: Opt 1:new one from Sears with dryer that I really would like you know the top load and luxury washer and dryer that would be put on the sears card to be payed off next year? depending on there promotion they are having
Opt 2 buy the 250. cheep one at Home depot on our card and pay now what we can?
Opt. 3 call a repair person to come out at 70.00 to look at the existing one and then repair if possible at what ever cost but not to exceed the 250. of the home depot one but if so back to opt 1 or 2?
I did do some research on line and there is a repair web site and I think I might have found what it could be if i could get the back of the washer apart to see if I'm right and the part would be about 10.00 plus shipping
