View Full Version : can you shrink a cashmere sweater safely?

I found an awsome sale on some cashmere sweaters, and since these are a main stay of my winter wardrobe, and the moths attacked this summer, I am tempted to pick up a couple, but the smallest size I can find in the style I like is a medium. I am a small. Do you think I could buy one, wash it on gentle and throw it in the dryer? I know I have shrunk some accidently in the past, but since I could not really wear them I am not sure if they were damaged by the shrinkage. I also am not sure if they would be likely to shrink beyond one size.

If I were you I would see if I could get it altered. My mom shrunk one of my cashmere sweaters once (accidentally) and it did not shrink evenly.

Thanks for the feedback. I will concider it, but that would probably up the price to much to make it worth it.
