Want to move from Ny to Santa Barbara

So I have been considering moving to Santa Barbara for quite some time now. The only problem is, I know nothing about it. I have never been to California. What is Santa Barbara like? How does it feel....the mood? How is the restaurant scene? I am a Chef here in NY, and will continue to cook wherever I move. I know Im asking a pretty open question, but Im freakin, and gathering up as much info that I can get.

How do they respond to New Yorkers, and to an ethnic person like myself. I am Greek, and stand out like a sore thumb, lol.

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Let me see if I understand you. You're wantng to move to Santa Barbara but you've never been there? The only help I can offer is that you at least visit before you make any decisions.
