Our little girl will stand and walk along the furniture and crawl over things but when you want her to stand by herself in front of you pop she goes. She is a stink.

We're coming around the bend towards ONE YEAR OLD, ladies! Eegads!
Here's Ovi's bday invite:

Auggghhh, I am already behind on D's birthday invites. Where is the time going? This year has gone by WAAAYYY too fast!
We're keeping it small for her first b-day, just having people over to the condo, I think. Haven't started on her birthday invites, but my Mom said she has already bought her several wooden toys I'm psyched about!
I worry about cake. DD has never had refined sugar and doesn't eat table food yet - she still gags on all of it, though she's getting better since she's been practicing with OatieOs everyday.
What are you doing for cake? My (diabetic, I should mention  ) FIL will be irate if baby doesn't have cake all over by the end of this party... sigh...

ONE YEAR OLD! Where did this year go ?
DH and I were just saying how very fast this all went down! WHOA!
Eliza is having a picnic at the park... Invites went out yesterday and we got our first reply today ( it came with the offer to bring fruit salad!) And other than invites, reserving the pavillion and thinking about food- I have yet to do anything else and her party is Aug 19th.
But as for cake--- I am going to bake one- for DS I bought a sheet cake pan and it was easy to do and i froze it ahead of time ( makes a great cake actually , box mixes of course :) He was Elmo, but Ellie is pink and orange polks dots. I think I may do fondant- not sure.
DS barely ate his smash cake- just sort of poked around in the frosting a little- so I don't think you should worry too too much about the sugar thing... Unless your baby loves it! You could do a smash cake frosted in more of a whipped cream and make it with little sugar... It will look adorable because it will still get everywhere.

Cake - For my DD, we just went ahead and let her have her cake. That was her first taste of sugar, and even now at 2 1/2 she isn't a big sugar eater. I wouldn't stress too much over it.

{b} ~ I wondered about the cake thing, too. Thanks for asking!

If you don't want your baby to have a sugar-ey cake, there are other options. I made DS a cake that was sweetened with apple butter and apple juice and it made a fine mess (and tasted pretty good). He had that for his first and second birthday cakes. There are options out there, google, http://www.askdrsears.com, or pm me and I'll send you the recipe I tried.
We're doing a ladybug theme and I just finished up DD's tutu (red glittery tulle with black ribbon). Good gracious it is cute!!!!! I wish I could try it on her, but she's napping : )
I know we have birthdays to get through first, but has anyone thought about Halloween yet?

That's so funny that you ask ... I was just thinking about Halloween this morning! I haven't decided on anything ... but it's definitely in my mind.

cake we just do a regular cake, i don't think they eat very much of it anyways. at this point though, henri still gags on everything that isn't a puree, so we'll see.
birthday we're a having a vintage circus themed party at our house. so far i've just booked the food and ordered the invites. i need to get crackin' though, b/c i love getting into all the little details and there just isn't much time for that anymore.
for halloween i think dd's going to be dorothy and henri's going to be a lion.

We're not so worried about the cake, Amelia eats just about anything anyways, but hasn't been such a big fan of sweets. It'll be more for funny pictures than anything!
She took her first steps last Thursday! I was so happy that she decided to do it in front of DH and I, I would have died if her daycare had written it down on her sheet one day. She hasn't done it yet at daycare, I think she prefers to take steps towards mommy and daddy!
I really need to get moving on the whole first birthday thing!

cake - Lily will pretty much only eat whatever we're eating these days so whatever we get has to be edible for the rest of us. I'm a vegetarian, almost vegan since I eat very little dairy, but vegan sweets are one thing even I can't eat. My cake needs to be made with eggs and butter.:p
Birthday - we're not planning a big party since none of our family lives here so no theme. We're just having a few friends over for cake.
Halloween - the current thought is to dress Lily up as Little Red Riding Hood and one of our dogs, the GSD/Collie mix as the Big Bad Wolf. But I'll have to see how the dog appreciates that.

Hi, September mommies!
Everyone is awfully quiet. I guess we're all too busy planning those birthday parties? :p

I think you are right!
Eliza's party is tomorrow and it is a picnic at the park- only it should be raining day! There is some cover- but bummer anyhow!
I have just been so busy with life in general- as I am sure all of us are these days!
Hope everyone has really great 1st b-days!

Just wanted to post this pic that we took at our neighbor's house this week. Lily loved the tether ball - she climbed right up and repeatedly whacked it around, not even caring when it hit her in the head.

Cute pic!
But is my kid the only one who isn't walking yet???

08-19-2007, 02:22 PM
NO!
Addison is neither walking, talking, nor does she have any teeth.
She does yell at us a lot and eats food by herself with abandon, though, so I'm not worried.:)

E doesn't walk or talk. She cut her first tooth 2 weeks ago (and what a lovely experience that was). She is cruising around on furniture, but I doubt she'll be walking on her own for another little while.

Steven isn't walking alone yet, either. He can stand unsupported for a little while and is climbing like crazy, though! He doesn't say any words yet, either, at least not consistently. He occasionally seems to mean DH when he says dada, and I think he's calling DD nana (Juliana). DD was definitely ahead of him verbally at this age, but he's ahead of her with motor skills. I guess they're going to be the stereotypical boy and girl. :)

Hi girls! I can't believe out babies are turning one! What a fast year.
Owen is great, he says a couple words ("DaDa", bye") & is our performing monkey when he waves or blows kisses. He is not walking, he does stand unassisted but no steps yet. My other kids did not walk 'til they were 14 months old, but I sort of see Owen going a little earlier. His birthday party is this Saturday. We are combining with his big brother's day (their birthdays are only two days apart) so it is Thomas the Tank Engine theme. Will is getting a full cake & Owen is getting a #1 cupcake to destroy. It will be full sugar with lots of icing, but I don't expect that he'll really eat much. For Halloween he is being the Old Navy chicken...the only reason I know this already is that it is Will's hand me down from two Halloweens ago. Poor Owen, gets nothing of his own;)
Nice to see that some of you still post. I try to pop in & read whenever I can but that seems to happen less & less frequently.
This picture is from last week after Owen's first haircut

Claire isn't walking yet either. But she is cruising everywhere! And she is starting to attempt to climb on everything. She climbed on top of a plastic bin the other day. It was too funny...she lifted that little bitty leg and got on top of that bin! haha! Claire's birthday was Saturday. We had a pretty big party with around 35 adults and 25 kids. It was fun. Claire wouldn't eat her cake and she looked at us like we were crazy when we sang happy birthday.
Here are some pics...

Nice looking party, Craft! :D
Mommy2alliwill – I love that shirt. Do you mind sharing where you got it?
Craft - What a great first birthday party. Claire is so adorable. P.S. - I'm finally getting good with making ponytails, although DD still hates anyone touching her hair. :) Thanks again for your help.
I haven't posted here in a long time, but I had to chime in on the topic. DD isn't walking yet either, but is also cruising and can stand alone for short periods of time. Her birthday party will be on the actual day of her birthday with playgroup friends since all of our family is out of state. The colors will be pink and chocolate. I ordered her halloween costume from babystyle.com. She's going to be a ladybug. I can't wait. As far as words she loves saying da da over and over again. She can also say mama, nana, no, ba ba and when prompted hi and bye.

Eliza is cruising- a few steps on her own and hopefully full boar soon! She is saying " Ma-Ma" " Da- DA" " Ba-Ba" ( I think for bottle and brother) " up" " uh-oh" and of course since sunday " Elmo" !
Go figure!
Her party was rained out, the park was closed and under water. we moved it to the yacht club that morning and all went well. Cake was a hit,at least the frosting was.
Tomorrow is the real deal and I can't believe my baby is 1!!!!

Lily How can I forget she says " NO" My gosh you reminded me and it is her fav thing to say! ha!
Eliza had that birthday hat that Claire had, but she wouldn't wear it! It was so cute on Claire!
2Jacks&Me - LOL...and you reminded me that DD can also say uh oh. :)

(x-posted in the July/August thread)
Just want to dash in with a little update, as I do from time-to-time. (I was supposed to be a September mom, but ended up being an August mom instead.) I now have a toddler! Kai turned one on August 30th and we had his party on Saturday.

Happy birthdays... not only to babies, but also to mommies! Don't you ladies find that birthdays in general just mean so much more, now that you've been on the ... well, birthing side of it? :)
I made this video montage (http://www.onetruemedia.com/my_shared?z=17d461ccca872aeec45e31&utm_source=otm&utm_medium=text_url) for Oliver's birthday. It makes me tear up every time, though I've now seen it more than a dozen times.

Hi Ladies,
Some exciting changes will be taking place on the next thread. Aletheia, Michelle and myself have been in contact and we are going to combine the Sept and Oct threads now as we move onto the Toddler section of CC. (yikes that is crazy!!!!!)
This will give us a bit more activity on both threads and save extra posting for those moms who had babies born in a different month than originally joined. Not that it's a bad thing to post 2 times, but as you know with having babies around, sometimes you forget to post in both places.
Hopefully, the new thread will be up this week sometimes, a link will be posted here and on the Oct thread. So our favor to all those active members on here (posted a list of who you are since about mid-July below), is to please pm us Oct06moms or post your information here, example of the format we would like to use is below, so that we can get your updated information before the new thread goes active. You can feel free to send along a birth photo and a recent photo for the front page (unsure how our format looks, feel free to check out the Oct thread) We will have birth stats as well as the stats for 12, 15, 18 and 24 months listed on the new thread.
Username - real name or initial, age (if you want)
DH: Real Name or initial, age (if you want)
Married: Month Day (if you want), year
Due Date: Original Due Date
NAME: First or DD,DS
BIRTHDAY: Month, Day, Year and time of birth[/b]
Birth Stats: weight & length
12 month stats: weight & length
Again once the new thread is set up, a link will be posted here for you to come on over and join the party. Hard to believe our babies are or are going to be 1 shortly and moving to Toddlers.
If anyone has questions or concerns, feel free to pm Oct06moms and we will do our best to answer them. We hope you will see this move as a good one and we look forward to getting to know all of you and your babies as we merge together.
