We do, but it was already done when we purchased the house, so I honestly have no idea what it would have cost. I can tell you that I love having it though! When we're doing reno work on the house, in the middle of winter, it sure is nice to flip the switch to turn on the furnace, and work in the garage. :)

Do you really need it heated? Do you or DH plan to actually do things in it in the winter that require it warm? Reason I ask is DH does most of our minor car maintenance and we live in MN and we don't have a heated garage. We did insulate it which made a world of difference and then he uses two small space heaters (possible fire risk if you aren't careful) when he needs to work. That being said he is planning to build an additional 30x40 shop that will not be attached to our existing garage and that will be insulated and most likely heated (LP vs electric as my dad has a spare LP garage heater he can have). He hasn't gotten any estimates yet so I can't tell you how much it will run him.
thanks for the responses!
heather - just running ideas in my head... if it's possible to use a garage as a photo studio/meeting clients area :)
The boy has a heated shop (pole barn, as they're called here in MN). Ours has in-floor heat (tubes filled with warm water under the concrete) and I think the cost was around 5-6K.

We have a heated garage, too. It is seriously warmer out there than it is in the rest of the house! The thermostat for the garage is in the hallway outside the downstairs bedrooms and oddly no matter how low you turn it, it's still extremely warm in there. Unfortunately, I know nothing about how it was done since it was like this when we bought it.

See, ours is actually independent of the heating system for the rest of the house. You flip a switch in the garage to turn it on, and then control the thermostat. The garage warms up in minutes. So, we rarely use it, but it's just so nice to have the option!
