dh and i have never gotten eachother much for valentines day. usually just a card.
we get our dd a little gift - she's only 2, so it's never anything big. and we pick out cutesy things for each other from dd.
and that's about all i do.
it seems like with all the advertising for the holiday that i am definitely in the minority when it comes to valentines gift giving.

I get DH something small (and vice versa). Usually no more than $20. I don't buy gifts for other family members, but I do send cards.
This year we'll get something small for our DD, but that will be about it.

I will get my students cards and candy.
Usually my husband and I will just go out to a nice dinner, and sometimes we have bought something for the both of us. Our first married Valentine's Day we bought a new TV for the living room, but recently we have not been that extreme. This year I think we will just do dinner. Maybe buy a new duvet set for the bedroom because he just put an unfixable hole in it last night.

Dh and I haven't exchanged Valentine's Day gifts -- just made sure to do something special together and exchange cards. I send cards to my parents, my sister, and my niece, but don't buy presents for any of them. I can't remember if we sent cards to Dh's family last year.

We don't do Valentine's day gifts. He usually gets me some chocolate and sometimes roses. I think last year I told him not to because I didn't want him paying $50 for a dozen roses when any other time of the year they are $20 or less!
(We also don't go out to eat on V day because there are ridiculously long waits and I'm not that patient!)

We vary in what we do, but I don't give anything to anyone other than my husband. Generally I get him a card and he gets me candy/flowers and we go out to dinner, at the maximum involvement. Sometimes we do nothing instead.

We never used to do anything, but recently we've started picking out chocolates to eat together, we'll go out to dinner, etc. Nothing big. We don't have kids, but if we did, we'd probably buy little gifts for them.
My mom and DH's mom still buy us cards and sometimes candy for V day, so we get them the same in return.

The only person I do anything with/for is FH and we usually just go out to dinner together, but to someplace a little nicer than we might go to on a regular "date". I'll buy him a card and maybe something little - last year I got him a Starbuck's gift card, don't know what it will be this year just yet.

I buy DH a card and some candy, usually jelly beans. I will porbably buy DS something small-- a car or truck to play with.
We will send cards from DS to the grandparents.

I don't like to go out to dinner for Valentine's day b/c it feels to contrived. I usually make a special dinner at home and we open a good bottle of wine. My mom always sends us a care package with lots of V day goodies in it :)

Just a little something for DH.
The past 2 Valentine's Days DH has gone over the top (spent too much) on me. I politely asked him to stop trying to "out do" each year. He's very thoughtful though...but our bank account can't handle it.

Usually we just do dinner at home (if he's off from work, since he works nights)...
The first year we were together, we signed the lease for our new apartment on Valentine's Day and moved in the next day; so on Valentine's Day night we got subs from Subway, bought The Wedding Planner and had a picinic in our new apartment.
When I was little I sent Valentine's cards to everyone (also sent everyone cards St Patrick's Day, Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving LOL)... I always gave my parents little things and they always got each other a box of chocolate or something.
Now, my mom always sends us tons of chocolate and jelly beans ( along with the message "Don't eat it all at once!" )... but she does that for every holiday LOL

DH and I usually exchange smaller gifts, a box of chocolates and cards, flowers etc. Last year I had a local caterer deliver this huge balloon weighed down with a basket of cookies to my husband's office...

He and his coworkers got a kick out of it which was my intention. This year we're planning on going out to a nice dinner. I love when restaurants get creative with their menus for any particular holiday so I'm really looking forward to it. That reminds me, I need to make a reservation....better get to it!
dh and i exchange cards. some years he has gotten me jewelry. last year we went on a shopping spree to ikea!!
i also send cards to my close friends and family.

we usually just do a nicer dinner at home. We've gotten each other a few small gifts in the past, but we rarely spend much.
I (we) don't do gifts for anyone else. Although, this year we'll probably do a little something for DS.

I feel I need to edit my answer. ;)
Normally DH and I don't exchange presents.
But...the V-D after we got engaged, I sent him a singing telegram. It was a chicken who was a bit ... uh... off-key. I sent it to his office and it was such a HOOT! A friend of mine who worked with DH recorded it for me and I got tons of pictures. DH (FH at the time) was beet red. :D

this year i'm going to make us a nice dinner and i get to pick the movie we watch. :) i don't want to go out since it's not the weekend and we both want to save money for our trip in march. as long as we have each other right ;)

DH and I exchange cards and little treats. We coook a nice dinner at home and relax. I also do cards for my nephew and neices as well.
I usually send cards to my best guy friend from HS and my former roommate. If the mood strikes, I might do a wacky ecard to a couple of friends to share the love, but nothing really planned.
Last year I suggested to the hubby that we not exchange gifts and that I'd cook at home. Well, he got me flowers and a picture frame anyway...silly guy. This year again I'll mention that we don't need to exchange gives, but make sure he knows it's not a "trick" that really, we just shouldn't.
