Gurus of makeup: Lip liner questions...

Ok, I feel dumb even asking this, but what is the correct way to pick liner color? The same as the lipsick? Liner a little darker?:o

What I've done is found a lipliner that is very close to my own lip color - and I use it with almost all lipstick colors - and when my lipstick wears off I don't have racoon lips. I forget the color I use - but it's a clinique shade in a deep nude color.

Of the Bare Escentuals lip liners, I use Neutral and it is very close to my previous lip liner of Fig by Estee Lauder. I think Neutral would be a good choice for matching with Yumi.
