With all of the excitement of new babies, I fogot to post about my NST. It went well. HB was excellent and fluid levels are fine. She said my little guy is very happy. :D I was able to get a glimpse of him as she scanned quickly for fluid levels. I am sooo excited to meet him and see what he looks like!

We went to the hospital this morning for a follow up BP check and NST. All is well. The room we were in this time was MUCH more comfortable. It had an adjustable bed so I was quite content.

I've hit the "I'm so excited I can't stand it stage" of my scheduled induction.

There is absolutely nothing else we have left to do so it's just relax, put my feet up and wait for the baby. I'm feeling alot better from the cold so I'm happy about that. Still have some congestion at night, but much better than the other day. I should be good to go by tomorrow night. Nurse this morning told me to make sure to let my doc know if I start coughing. I haven't yet so I'm quite happy.

usawife - I hope things settle down for you. While some of us our wishing to have our babies, I sometimes forget I'm 4 weeks ahead of many people and you shouldn't be wishing to have your babies yet, certainly under your circumstances :)

Tera, I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling good about your induction and are so excited about it! I found out last night that a very close friend of mine IRL is also getting induced tomorrow - I can hardly contain myself now, because I'm just so excited for both of you!!! :D

Threadmistresses: Thanks for starting the new thread. I thought I had joined a long time ago (I know I'm not a very good poster :o ) but I didn't see my info on the first page. If you needed it again, here it is:

I too am just waiting patiently. I know I've got several weeks to go, but I'm already ready mentally. Plus she's moved sooooo low. Oh well, time is good (and I need to learn to be more patient). :)

So we had a really scary thing happen on our way home from dinner tonight. A drunk driver was driving down the wrong side of the 55 mph road near our house. DH slammed on the brakes and swerved and we missed him but not by much! DH immediately called 911 and reported it. We weren't sure if the guy was drunk or just stupid, because it was only about 9:00. We were very happy that a deputy just called us back to let us know the driver is in jail and was over twice the legal limit.

I'm sure that I won't have trouble getting DH to spring for really good car seats now. I wasn't going to get a Britax for my car because the baby will rarely ride it. I was thinking a Scenera instead. We have a Decathalon for DH's car. But, now I am for sure getting either a Marathon or a Boulevard for both me and for grandma.

Other than that, it was a fairly uneventful Saturday. Go Colts!

Megan Elizabeth arrived 01/05/07 at 05:21am. 6 pounds 7 ounces. 19 3/4 inches long. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h83/baby01_2007/IMG_0021.jpg

We're home already. I couldn't stand the hosptial bed!

Honestly ladies, I was expecting a lot worse. I've tried to keep good notes and will do the birth story soon.

Megan is a nursing maniac. Still having a little trouble waking her up to eat. But it's getting better. So far, she's only made dirty diapers for daddy ;)

Congrats thechick! Welcome Lydia Grace! I love the name.

Congrats Angela! Welcome Megan Elizabeth! She is absolutely gorgeous!

Okay, I'm all crying over here. :o I'm soo happy to see babies arriving.

Kristen: What a scare! I had a similar experience when I was pg w/ DS#1. We called the cops and before I even got off the phone, we saw this guy fly off the road. Unfortunately, we never found out what happened to the driver. We know he didn't hurt anyone else, at least. Ughhh.

Congratulations alegna! Welcome Megan! I love that picture. It looks like she's smiling.

I'm crying here, too, to see babies arriving in this thread! So far it is all the girls. Who'll have the first boy?

mommydearest: What a scare! That was really nice of the deputy to call you back to let you know the outcome.

Congrats to thechick and angela and welcome Lydia and Megan!!!!! It is SO exciting to see the babies finally arriving. Now it's a "race" to have the first boy. ;)

* * * *

Woke up last night with some strong menstrual cramp type feelings but they only lasted a few minutes and I haven't felt anything since. This waiting stage is so darn tricky! :mad: All along I've been secretly hopeful that I'd have an early baby, but as it gets closer I've resigned myself to the fact that he'll probably be late. Oh well!

Hey ladies!
I can't believe I had Lydia on her due date! My water broke after I got home from work on Thursday. I am so in love with her. I can't describe the feeling of when you deliver and they lay your baby on your chest - you feel this immense love for your baby. Steve and I were crying. She is an absolute princess.

I was started on pitocin since my water broke and I was not having any contractions. The pitocin brought them on strong and hard. I went about 6 hours without an epidural because I was so freaked out by the needle. I finally got one and my body relaxed and I went from 6cm to 10cm in 45 minutes. So a few pushes and baby was out! I was lucky and did not have any tearing.

We're home now and adjusting. Having my mom here is a huge help. I will try to be back to share some pics.

Stats:

that is the BEST newborn picture I have ever seen! She's an angel!

ITA! Congratulations Alegna - your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and I love her name! Isn't your DH the one who thought all along that you were carrying a girl?!

Congratulations to you, too, thechick79! So glad to hear you had a great experience and I can't wait to see pics! If Nugget ends up being a girl, her middle name will likely be Grace too (but we still haven't officially decided... ;))

mommydearest - sorry about your scare. I'm glad the guy got busted.

As for me - still here (but I expect to last until the 23rd ;)) I took my huge certification exam on Friday and am happy to report that I PASSED! Yahoo! Now that I have that out of the way, I can finally focus on getting ready for this baby. Let the nesting begin!!!

STILL have a darn cough (I've had it since December 23) so I finally went to the doctor on Saturday morning...I have bronchitis. No wonder my lungs hurt so much. I got some antibiotics and am waiting for them to kick in.

I was at Meijer (grocery store) yesterday waiting for them to call my number at the deli counter. This middle-aged guy was in front of me and when he turned around and saw me, he looked right at my belly and yelled "WHOOOOAAAA!!!" Yes, I realize I am quite pregnant, but I don't think I am THAT big :rolleyes: It was just annoying. I'm at the point where I am uncomfortable enough that I don't need any reminders, thank you anyway. My DH asked me what I said in response and I said, "What AM I supposed to say?!" I decided that since I couldn't say anything nice to that butthead, I wasn't going to say anything at all ;) Anyway, I bought a bunch of stuff while I was out shopping yesterday -- storage bags for EBM, maxi pads (ugh!), thank-you notes, infants Tylenol, etc. Then I came home and cleaned like a mad woman. I just might be nesting ;)

Well this waiting is killing me. I've taken a bath to relax/clean up, blowed dry my hair, read the last chapter in "Week by Week" and now I'm pretending to watch football with DH. I wish 5:00 would get here so I could call and find out if there is room on the schedule for me. There are 31 L&D rooms and we are #4 on the induction list. I figure that leaves 27 women in natural labor, that's quite a few. I'm sure there will be room, but you never know.

I had my "last meal" at noon and now I'm "hungry." I don't think I'm actually hungry, I'm just bored/excited and know I can't eat anything. The nurse in observation/testing yesterday said she thought they'd let me eat 4 hours after receiving the Cervadil. But she wasn't sure. Geez I hope they do. That would be a long time to go without nutrition!

Question for those RO's out there - did you wear make-up to the hospital? I don't know if I should or not. I figure if I do, it'll all be gone by the time I deliver. But I also want to feel somewhat attractive. Thoughts on that? Maybe I should have thought have this sooner. If not, maybe someone else out there wants to know for future reference...

Chick - what a great birth experience. I hope mine is just like yours!
Angela - DH (and I too) think your baby is gorgeous. Congrats again!

Thanks to all the well wishes for today. DH has a whole bunch of distraction/entertainment tactics up his sleeve. I just hope I have the energy to play along. I got a fantastic sleep last night. I really needed it.

Like I said in a previous post, my good friend is an April 06 Mom and she'll be in to post some updates as she/I have them.

I had a scheduled c-section with my DD and had to be at the hospital at 6:00am. I had specific instructions not to wear make-up, polish on my fingernails, jewelry, or contacts. I remember I did take a long hot shower when I first woke up and also dried and styled my hair as usual, and I'm pretty sure I cheated and put a little bit of make-up on ;) but no lipstick or anything too obvious that they'd notice (just a little foundation IIRC). I agree that it'd probably be gone by the time you deliver. You can always just bring your make-up bag, and after your baby comes and you're ready for visitors, you can touch yourself up. There will be lots and lots of pictures so I completely understand the desire to feel somewhat attractive!

Tera--Here's hoping that you "got in." lol. For the makeup question: with DD, I had makeup on as part of my normal routine, so I wore it to the hospital--and it stayed on surprisingly well (to me) during L&D. This time around, I don't normally wear makeup, so I'm thinking about if I will put it on before I go in or not. I'm leaning towards yes--just cause I have some blemishes that I don't want glaring at me from every single pic that is taken. At the time, I know I won't care, but when it's all said and done, I don't want to look like a polka dot face in the pics. :o BEST OF LUCK!!!

Congrats and welcome to

Megan and Lydia!!!

Winter--Woo-hoo for passing your certification!

Garden--Hugs and good luck! I hope they got you in.

Re: Make-up--I don't wear it on a regular basis, so I am not wearing anything or taking anything to the hospital.

I tried to cut down on what we are bringing to the hospital, since I have a small suitcase and DH has a large duffel bag. But I keep thinking of things "it might be nice to have" like a fleece for me (I'm always cold) and slippers for DH, my boppy, a couple DVDs for postpartum...and...and...and. It has turned into a large amount of stuff. I think tonight I might go through it all again and pair down what's in there.

Happy labor vibes to those who want them!

thechick79 - I am so glad to hear that you had a good labor experience! Congratulations again! :D

WB - Congratulations on passing the certification exam! Sorry to hear about the bronchitis. :( I hope that the antibiotics kick in fast and you're feeling much better really soon!

Tera - GOOD LUCK!!! I hope they were able to get you in today! I'll be thinking about you!

Make-up - I only wear make up when I get dressed up to go out, so - I won't be wearing any to the hospital.

DH and I had a "nesting attack" today - we literally cleaned EVERYTHING! Vaccuumed, dusted, cleaned ALL closets, cleaned the nursery yet AGAIN, completely cleaned out the nursery closet (we don't have any baby clothes to put in there yet, so - it's totally empty right now). Everything is as ready for the baby as it will be at this point, so - we're just waiting for me to go into labor... ;) I'm due in 3 days and I hope that this child doesn't keep me waiting too long! :)

Same here! Well, more DH than me. :o He cleaned the hardwood floors, vacuumed the entire house, straightened all of collin's toys. We put the bassinet in our room. I cleaned the spare bathroom and even cleaned the lamp shades! LOL!

WB: Sorry about the brochitis. I hope the abx kicks it out of you quickly. Congrats on passing your certification!

Make-up: I don't wear it on a regular basis, so i won't be wearing any to the hospital. i do remember after DS #1 was born and I was home, I started to wear little bit here and there to cover up the exhaustion bags under my eyes. :D

make-up I wear minimal makeup most of the time (mascara, tinted lip balm, some loose BE powder). So probably not. Last time we went in to the hospital at 4:30 a.m. so I was definitely NOT wearing makeup then! If you always have on a full face, you might want to bring it but otherwise I'd skip it. You'll have that "new mom glow" anyhow!

nesting Umm, does it count as nesting if instead of cleaning the house myself I finally hired a cleaning lady to come weekly? She starts Thursday and I can't wait!!!!

DH is finally coming home tonight for good until after the baby is born. I've been worried that I would go into labor and have to drive myself to the hospital! Such is the life of a navy pilot's wife I suppose :) . I am definitely feeling like I'm over being pregnant. Getting lots of braxton hicks, totally out of breath going up and down the stairs, only a few clothes still fit, not sleeping well, my right hip/leg is killing me, etc. But at the same time I really want to stay pregnant until the 20th when my in-laws are coming in town because it will be so much easier for them to be here when I go into labor to take of DD and our dogs in our house!

Congrats Angela! Welcome, Megan Elizabeth! She is absolutely gorgeous. :)

Congrats, thechick! Welcome, Lydia Grace! Glad to hear all went well overall for you.

Woo hoo! Babies just a-comin' in here! :) Thinking of Tera and hoping all is going well!

Kristen - whew, glad they caught that guy before he could hurt anyone. How scary for you guys!

makeup - I know Tera asked the question, but here's my answer anyway. I wore makeup to the hospital only because DD's delivery was rather unexpected. ;) By the time I actually GOT to deliver the next day (at nearly noon), I'm pretty sure it was all off my face, LOL...I know I washed my face the night before, don't remember if I put any on in the AM or not. I was still wearing all my jewelry when they did the C-section though! Still kind of makes me giggle, as I know that's not usually allowed!

WB - WOO HOO for passing your certification! Hope that nasty bronchitis disappears quickly for you.

Lots of nesting going on around this thread. ;) I'm pretty well done and ready for Peanut to arrive. We don't need anything else for Peanut, but as the days go by I'll probably keep picking up packs of diapers, etc. here and there. Everything is ready. We just need the BABY now!

DD is getting pretty excited for her baby sister or brother to come. She says it's a "sister" and its name will be "brother." Gotta love 2 year olds! :D I hope she stays excited and happy after the baby gets here, too!

Been having tons of pain in my right hip, like it's going to pop out of joint. Good times. Some contractions off and on, here and there...nothing major, really. Today I swear Peanut was trying to get out of my cervix though! OUCH!!! Just hang in there for a few more days at least, kiddo - I've got a pedicure on Wed. AM and Mom's Night out with my playgroup Thursday night. ;) After that, C'MON OUT!

Smooth and easy labor vibes to anyone who may be laboring right now....

My appt today was cancelled. I go on Wednesday anyway, so it's one less trip I have to make. I'm feeling so tired now. I'm w/ those of you w/ hip pain. Man, laying down is a nightmare. I now have to hold my belly when I roll over at night. It's actually kind of painful.
Yesterday, I was kneeling down getting the bath ready for DS and I started to see "spots". I need to talk to the DR about it. It has me all freaked out.

Jen: Too funny that DD wants to name the baby brother! LOL!

Add me to the list!

Gretchen Sofia
Born January 4, 2007 at 12:50 p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 inches long.

Everything went really well. I had a scheduled c-section and it was even easier than the first (I had a very easy time the first time, but not to say c-sections are easy as I've heard bad stories, but luckily both times were not bad for me).

Not much to write in regards to a birth story since it all went as planned. The only thing my dr. mentioned after the surgery is that those BH contractions I'd been having the week before I delivered did a number on my uterus and reallllly thinned it out. Had I gone to full term (I was 39 weeks), she's pretty sure I would have ruptured it, so if we do decide on baby #3, she said it is something to really watch out for if I start having BH again and they will likely deliver me even earlier than 39 weeks to be on the safe side.

magdesilver - how exciting that your DH is home! Mine travels a lot too (not military, though) so I know how that can be!

butterflyjen - sorry about your hip pain ... that sounds bad. :( I have the same feeling where it feels like the baby is trying to push through my cervix. It's so strange!

Julie - yikes on the seeing spots. I hope the dr. has something to tell you about that; I'd be freaked out, too!

Robyn, that's fun feeling the baby trying to come out of your cervix, isn't it. :rolleyes:

This hip pain is so weird. It just comes out of nowhere and, if I'm standing, pretty much brings me to my knees. It sucks! I never had that with DD, so this is a new experience. Whee. Otherwise, everything's good here...some more contractions last night, but I'm guessing that's because I'd been slacking on my water intake later in the day.

Congrats to Amber and welcome Gretchen!

Still nothing to really mention here...have a doc appointment in a few hours. Katie is just hanging out. DH is after me to pack a bag for the hospital, but so many of the things that I am going to take with me I am using every day. I figure the chances of us having to "rush" to the hospital are slim so I just have the list of items next to the bag and I will pack them when we leave.

No news from Tera, yet?

NYLACHI: Did you have a migraine along w/ the vision change? I didn't have a headache or anything. I was thinking it could be a circulation thing b/c of the way I was kneeling down. I have no idea, but will definitely mention it to my OB.

Ginger; I packed a bag this weekend. I'll need to remember my blow dryer, camera, and things like that. I guess I should write a note and stick it on the bad, so I don't forget.

I just talked to Tera's mom. She is doing well. They started Pitocin this morning. Things started slow but she is now between 5 and 6 cm. She has had an epidural and is resting. There is some concern about the cord b/c every time she has a contraction the baby's heartrate slows. They have stopped pitocin to see if it helps and are trying to get her into a good position for the baby.

Everything looks good though and she should have a baby sometime tonight. Can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl! I'll let you guys know as soon as I hear something. :)

This is all so exciting! Huge congratulations to everyone who has already delivered! :D Who's gonna have the first boy?

I'm still hanging out - still feeling physically great but starting to get mentally anxious to get things moving. I had some excitement last Friday with some contractions and stuff but obviously it wasn't "the real deal". :rolleyes: I have been using Evening Primrose Oil capsules per my midwives, hanging out on the birthing ball, staying really physically active (more painting, ugh!), and having lots 'o sex (:eek: - surprisingly I am into it!). I hope all of this stuff combined makes the babe come out in the next week or less. I really, really, really do not want to have to deal with being induced and all that crap.

Back to the midwives on Wednesday. I don't do internals so the appointments are such a waste of my time lately. Annoying.

Okay, gotta run. I am still at work. Come on Baby G, your momma is ready for some action! Hope you guys are all doing well and there will be more babies soon!!!

No, no headache at all. I've had two episodes, both when I was hungry. They lasted about 30 minutes total. It started out where I felt like I was seeing spots, and then I would see round aura's in my periphery to the point where I really couldn't see much at all. Hi Ladies & congrats on all the new babies. You probably don't remember me, but I was on the first thread a couple of times. Things just got so busy with work and my 2 year old and this thread moved so fast that I couldn't keep up. I'm off work from now until the baby arrives though, so maybe I can do better.

I've got a week and a day until my due date. Our daughter Maddie was born a week early though, so I'm hopeful that this little one will come a little early, too. I was 3 cm dilated at my last appointment, so we're making progress. The in-laws arrived on Saturday to help with Maddie if we have to rush to the hospital, so that's a big relief. I came down with a cold yesterday, so I'm hoping the baby waits for me to recover a little bit before he/she decides to make his/her arrival though. We'll be happy whenever though.

I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures and hearing all those birth stories!!

We're moving right along in here!!! So exciting!

WB--Congrats on passing your certification exam--that's gotta be a huge load off. Hope you're feeling better, too.

Magde--I'm glad that your DH is coming home for good. I know that feels nice to know he will be there. I'm really over being pregant too.

Amber--Congrats!!!!!! And, hello there Gretchen Sofia!!! I love the name Gretchen by the way. My cousin had a friend named Gretchen in college, and I was always so into it. lol. Glad that everything went as planned. Your family is beautiful.

Julie--I've been seeing some spots, as well. Most of mine occur when I first get up or when I'm bent over. I talked to my CNM about it and she said that based on when they were occurring, that my BP is fine, and urine is fine that she wasn't gonna worry about them. Also, mine were never accompanied by a headache or other vision problems. So, I've been just ignoring them when they happen now. :rolleyes:

thechick--Check out those gorgeous eyes!!!

Ginger--You sound completely laidback about being a February mama. My due date is right on the line, so maybe I'll be there with you (if your intuition is correct). At least Katie has "assumed the position." lol.

Elenna--Hooray for a negative GBS.

RayNJay--Hello again. Glad to see you check in. Time sure is ticking for ya. Here's hoping that baby decides to make an appearance when you are ready and waiting. hahaha. I posted a day or so ago that I am very very over being pregnant, but not quite ready for DS to be here. Good luck whenever your new addition decides to join us.

Robyn--Keep us updated on anymore interesting things going on your way. And, damn, those teasers.

Tera--CONGRATS!!!!!!!! The first boy!!!! Welcome, BABY!!!

Zhanna--Absolute wishes for a smooth, quick labor and delivery for you. Good luck! Can't wait to see your son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nesting--I wish I were nesting, or that FH was. We've got stuff put together and such, but the house is a WRECK. An utter WRECK. My mom helped tremendously when she was up over the past weekend. I just need to get some energy and get it done.

Leaking--Been wearing pads daily and nightly for about two weeks now. Sometimes, nothing comes out in them, but let me not wear them--I will be showing milkspots to the world in no time. lol.

Pain--The pain and discomfort is reaching an almost intolerable level these days. I can't roll over, can barely move, walking for 5 minutes is an utter chore. My hips, my back, my crotch, all joints--just everywhere. Can't lift my legs up first thing in the morning. I am swelling like CRAZY. My right foot stays swelled up no matter what. Can't wear jewelry or watch anymore. I'm over it.

Looking Forward To--Sleeping on my stomach. Being able to roll over or switch position, without grimacing, in less than 5-10 minutes. Fitting into my desk in class. And, of course, having a wallabydarned or 3 from The Outback.

That sounds like the aura I get before I get a migraine! Just be happy that the pain of the migraine doesn't follow...;)

My hot sling arrived in the mail last night. I am looking forward to trying it out, but DH said it looks like a waste of money. I hope to prove him wrong. I also got the sling in a slate blue color so that HE can carry Katie around too! Ha ha ha!

Welcome back RayNJay!

Margaret: Glad your DH is home. It must be such a relief.

Elenna: Hooray for a neg. GBS!

Amanda; I'm with you on the pain. There are times I don't even want to stand. Ugghh.

Ginger; Hooray for the hotsling! I hope you find it as useful as I did. :)

I have my appt. tomorrow morning, so I'll be in later tomorrow w/ an update. If she wants to do an internal, I won't deny. I'm curious if there is anything going on. I'll be surprised if nothing's happening b/c of all the contractions I've been having.

jmvan-I'm with you on the contractions. I've been having many that feel different than the braxton hicks. They're definitely real. I have an appt on Friday, so I'll be talking to my dr about them then. Maybe actually asking her if she'll do an internal... :eek:

Tonya; I definitely don't remember the contractions being this strong the first time. I guess all the practice from #1 makes me more aware of them now. :p

NO internal this morning. I'm actually glad. The more I think about it...if I know how far along I am, I'll just obsess over it and be more anxious. I am positive there is progress, but as long as Brady stays put for 7 more days we're good to go. :D

I was up for 2 hours in the middle of the night again. *sigh* I'm so tired. One more week!

Goodness it's quiet in here....everyone off having babies? ;)

Nothing really new going on here...had my pedicure today and AHHH that was heaven. :D Still nesting like mad - but I'm focusing on getting DD's room decorated! As in our 2 year old, LOL!

I'm still here! DH and I took the hospital tour today (better late then never, huh?). It was actually really good. I think my friend just had a bad experience and was too shy to say anything (me...not so shy!). I was pleased with their policies and delivery rooms. I didn't get to see a postpartum room because they were all full but I am feeling much better now about the whole deal. Have an appt. tomorrow morning and hopefully my first internal. I want to know what is going on there! I have definitely been having more braxton hicks lately and more than I remember having with DD. And they aren't just from doing things anymore- I have them laying down, in the car, etc. Hopefully I've got some good progress going on, but we'll see. I still want to hang in there until the 20th when my in-laws are coming. Last night I went to a dinner-prep place so I have 6 meals in my freezer, plus my MIL will cook for us when they are here, plus my playgroup will bring me meals every other night for a good 1-2 weeks after the relatives leave so we'll be set with dinners for a good amount of time.
I am going to pack my hospital bag tomorrow (what I can pack). Not bringing as much as I did with DD, because I didn't use most of it. Just a boppy, going home clothes for me, a few outfits for the baby, some diapers and wipes, bathrobe, slippers, and shower flip flops/toiletries is about all I used last time.

My OB said I was definitely a 2, maybe a little more at my appt this wk. My cervix is anterior and VERY SOFT. Plus little one's head is firmly planted right on top. She doubts that I'll make it to the scheduled c/s date but she wanted to put down a date just in case. That way it's on the schedule and no one else can take that date (unless it's an emergency case which we would just be moved back until later in the day). Right now it's scheduled for the 25th (which is 38 wks by my LMP EDD).

I have a call in to the office and am currently waiting for them to call me back. Not really been sleeping very much (30 minutes here and there) since last Thursday. The pressure in the pelvic area is definitely getting worse. My hips ache so bad. My lower back is hurting so bad as well. Sometimes I can't even tell if I'm having a contraction or if it's just pressure from the little one. I'm beyond miserable at this point. I've tried a warm shower, taking Tylenol (which didn't even remotely touch anything), changing positions frequently, drinking a ton of water (which just makes me have to get up to go to the bathroom more), and a few other things. Discharge has definitely increased some as well. And the nausea is back.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congratulations to all of those whose little ones have arrived!!!! They don't stay little for long and soon you'll be planning their first birthday party! And wondering where the first year went. Then the next time you blink they'll be 18 months old.
Hi all, so much excitement going around in here! Can't wait to hear all of the new babies names and see pictures. :)
I went for my 39w appointment today and y'all I am in such a bad @#$#@$# mood now. I have turned into a cranky pregnant lady and I really, truly have no good reason to be cranky. But I am. :rolleyes:
The Good: The baby had a great hearbeat, baby has dropped and is engaged, he was moving all around, my blood pressure is great, no swelling, no aches or pains, I gained 1 pound (up 13 total) and I have literally never felt better in my life.
The Bad: The kid has decided to flip posterior with his back along my spine. He has NEVER been like this before and I know it happened last Friday when I was crampy and feeling a lot of weirdness and wondering if I was going into labor. The midwife said that if I can't get him to flip back I am going to have back labor, labor is going to be longer/harder, and he's going to be much more difficult to push out. Y'all I am so upset. :( I seriously feel like crying. I am so, so, so committed to doing this naturally and I have worked so hard this pregnancy at being healthy and "doing everything right" and now this, which I have no control over. I have spent so much time on the damn birthing ball and on my hands and knees which I thought was supposed to help prevent this issue. I am supposed to spend lots of time on my hands and knees from now on to try to get him positioned the right way. Fab.
The Ugly: I have absolutely no reason in the world to complain but I am starting to turn cranky and pissy. I swear, I am not ever hormonal but I think that must be what I am today. I have not a physical complaint in the world but I am starting to get so anxious emotionally and I feel like I am being irrational. I mean seriously, I've still got a week to go until my due date but damn if I am not just sick mentally of being pregnant. I feel like such an ass complaining but I am in a bad mood today and I know you all understand so I came here to vent instead of to my husband.
Here's how irrational I am: I woke up this morning feeling fabulous so I put on my 3-inch spiky knee high leather boots instead of my usual flats. I get to the midwives office and both the midwife and the receptionist say how cute I look and they can't believe I can wear those boots. I actually got pissed that I can wear these boots because it makes me think that the baby isn't going to come out anytime soon. WTF is wrong with me? :mad: I should be counting my blessings that I feel fine but I swear my irrational mind is making me think that since I feel good I am never going to go into labor. I am an absolute nutcase today. Anyone else?
Also, our basement is in the process of being finished and it's driving me insane and there is still so much to do. My formal living room and dining room have been filled with crap from the basement and everything is dusty from the drywall. Also, like I said, I feel great, so I have been helping out with the work like I usually do. We went to Home Depot last night and bought the tile for the bathroom down there. There was a HUGE part of me that was secretly wishing I would go into labor and just get out of that little project. ;) Of course that seems to not be happening now and especially since I am supposed to be on my hands and knees a lot, I guess I will be tiling the bathroom tonight. The rational part of my mind says that I should be happy I can still do this stuff, staying active will help my labor, anything we get accomplished now before the baby comes will be great, blah, blah, blah, but the irrational part of my mind says "f@ck off, get this damn baby out, and screw everybody". :eek: Told y'all I have turned into a mess this week.
QOTD: Who's still working? If you are, what is your plan for stopping?
My answer: I am still working and had planned to continue until I deliver but I think my boss and co-workers may want me to establish a firm cut-off date because it makes their plans easier. I am afraid I will go nuts at home. I am so torn on what to do. I have more than enough leave to just stop at the end of this week but I am apparently a control freak and cannot leave here because I am afraid things will go to crap while I'm gone. I worked last night until 7 and the reality of leaving my work has just started to hit me. Oy, yet another issue I am having a fit about and cannot make up my mind what to do. Anyone else having these issues?
Margaret: Glad you are feeling better about the hospital and that DH was there to take the tour w/ you. I need to check out the meal place around here. That would be a perfect thing for me to do this weekend.
Hugs, Meri.
Wine-O: I'm so sorry the pg hormones have struck! FWIW, last night I snapped on DH for something totally stupid and he told me I was being "nasty", which I knew I was, but told him to remind me when the last time he was 9 months pg was? :o
Sorry the little one has decided to go posterior on you. You still have time for him to flip. A friend of mine's baby flipped last minute during labor, so there is still hope.
Being on your hands and knees might help get labor going too! My mom always said, get down on the your hands and knees and scrub the floors if you want to start labor. ;) I never did it, but I know it's at least a wives tale.
I'm a SAHM, so I don't have the work issue you are facing, but when I was working, I was greatful for the time i had off before DS came b/c i was able to get things prepared and get my self mentally prepared.... Well, best I could at that point anyway. Good luck w/ your decision and Vent away!
jmvan - sorry you aren't getting good sleep! That's so frustrating.
margaret - I'm glad you were able to set your mind at ease about the hospital.
meri - hang in there!
wine-o-girlie - I'm right there with you on a lot of stuff! I have a friend that calls every day to see how I'm feeling and my answer lately is "FINE" (said with a very cranky voice). On one hand I'm glad I'm not miserable, but on the other hand it makes me feel like I'm nowhere near popping this guy out! Sorry the baby flipped ... my yoga teacher/doula said the same thing about spending a lot of time on your hands and knees and made it sound like it's not to hard to flip the baby. Can't remember if you said he was engaged already, but she advised to lower your torso (so that your butt is essentially sticking up in the air) so you can almost disengage him and make it a little easier for him to flip. Hope that makes sense.
wine-o Have you checked out spinningbabies.com? They might have some suggestions for you. My DD was posterior, and came out that way. I didn't know until I was pushing, though. I don't remember having very much back labor but I did get an epi with her at 7 cm so maybe I didn't feel the worst of it. It had worn off in time for me to push, though. I pushed for about 2.5 hours and at that point I was very tired and wasn't making much progress bringing her down, so I opted to have a vacuum assisted delivery and she came out shortly afterwards. I did have to have an episiotomy and tore on top of it, and recovery wasn't a walk in the park, but it honestly wasn't bad and I don't regret any of my decisions, except obviously wishing i had known about her being posterior before being in labor so I could do something about it (at least try to do something about it!). My midwife this time has told me to avoid sitting on my back, or in a lazy boy type of position, and to do hands and knees as much as possible with pelvic rocks, which it sounds like you've been doing.
You can do it no matter what ends up happening!!
Joseph Eduard is here! - born on his due date, 1/10/07; 8 lbs 9 oz, 21.5 inches.
Labor was very difficult - 14 hours. I pushed for 1.5 hours, baby got stuck with cord around his neck. I finally pushed him out, but he had some trouble breathing and was taken to NICU. He is still there, but doing much better now. He is not allowed to eat yet, but maybe tomorrow... I will be going home on Friday, but they are still not sure about the baby - he may have to stay a little longer. :(
Good luck to everyone getting ready to deliver!!! I hope to check in sometime on Friday.
Zhanna ~ Congratulations on little Joseph's arrival! Sorry to hear about the rough delivery. Hope his stay in the NICU is a short one.
Julie ~ Thanks.
robyn ~ Thanks. I'm trying, it's not easy though.
Update ~ I'm going to take some Tylenol PM tonight. If nothing is changed tomorrow I'll be calling the office again (which is what they said to do). At this point I'm miserable and just want to be done. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth. I want him to stay inside as long as possible so as not to make the first few hours/days more critical or more at risk than need be.
The pelvic pressure continues to increase, I can't sit or lay down for more than about 15 minutes (max) at a time. Something that just started tonight has been the upper thigh cramping.
Congrats Zhanna, and welcome baby Joseph. I'm glad to hear he's doing well. Hopefully he will eat well tomorrow and get to come home soon.
Things are going well here, but still no baby. I was convinced that this baby would be at least a week early since DD was and I'm already 3 cm dilated, but no such luck. I'm not uncomfortable, I'm just anxious and ready to meet my new little baby.
I've still got a cold, but nothing too bad. I woke up at 4 am this morning and could not go back to sleep. I have no idea why... I'm not coughing, I'm not in labor, I wasn't uncomfortable, just not sleepy. Maybe my body is just preparing itself for those nights of no sleep when the baby gets here.
Congrats Zhanna!! A big Welcome to baby Joseph! I'm sorry you had a rough time. He's a big boy. ;) I'm so glad to hear he is off oxygen and will get to eat soon. Take care of that little one.
Meri: Hope the tylenol pm helped you get some much needed rest.
RayNJay; The end is near! :p I've been up since 4:30am. DH got up for work and I just wasn't sleepy enough to go back to sleep. I laid there until 6 and then decided it was time coffee. :D
Nothing new here and that's a good thing.;) Did I tell ya'll that I hired a Mother's Helper? She started on Tuesday. She's a college student studying early childhood ed. She'll be here 2 days a week (4 hours each day) to help w/ DS#1, so I can have some time to focus on DS#2. I already love her and so does Collin! Anyhow, I have an NST this afternoon, so it works out perfectly that she'll be here to watch Collin. Much stress off my shoulders. I am a little nervous b/c I've never left him w/ anyone other than family before...Sadly, I feel a little more secure leaving him w/ her than w/ MIL! LOL!
Yesterday we left Allison with a sitter for the first time ever while we took the hospital tour. We've had sitters before but always after Allison was already asleep for the night so we could go out to dinner (Grandma and Grandpa have watched her when they visit but we don't have local family). I was so nervous even though she does just fine at Mother's Day Out. She did great and had so much fun!
Really made me feel better in case I need to have a sitter on a non-MDO day once in a while for whatever reason. Glad it worked out!
My cleaning girl starts today and I should get my first internal from the midwife!! I'll be back with some updates.
My family is a few hours a way, but my mom is coming for a week and my dad, sister and nephew will be joining her for a few days after Brady arrives. Thank goodness.
Glad Allison had fun w/ her sitter. Hope your appt. went well.
Zhanna - I'm so happy that Joseph has improved and will be home soon! That's is wonderful news!
I had the funniest dream this morning. I was with a group of pregnant women - it maye have been this group of women here, but I can't say for sure. Anyway, we were all having our babies and once the baby was born, a photographer would take an Anne Gedde-type picture of the baby. In my dream, I slept through labor and delivery (ha ha ha!) and when I woke up, Katie was here. However, instead of an Anne Gedde picture, someone has put Katie in KISS make up! :D I didn't mind because I am a huge KISS fan, but the dream was pretty funny. of course NOW I have total KISS music in my head and I can't stop hearing it over and over again.
Congratulations Zhanna, and welcome to baby Joseph! I'm so sorry to hear that you had a rough experience and that Joseph is in the NICU, but I am sure he is getting the best care and will be out soon! Can't wait to see pictures of your little guy!
jmvan74 - good for you for hiring a Mother's Helper? I could use about 10 of those around the clock ;)
Meri - sorry you are so uncomfortable. :( That is a tough dilemma - it must be so hard to want the baby to come NOW so you can stop feeling so miserable, yet it's completely understandable that you don't want to compromise anything by having the baby come too early. I hope things look up soon. Just know that we're thinking of you and you can vent in here anytime you want!
wine_0 -- trust me, I have had my share of bitchy/cranky moments lately too...you are NOT alone! Just last night I yelled at my DH because he lightly touched my belly and it hurt. I feel like I am carrying a watermelon in there and my skin is stretched SO tight that it actually hurts. I don't want anyone touching me - so when DH put his hand on my belly, he nearly got attacked! Sorry to hear that your baby has decided to turn into a little troublemaker in there by flipping posterior...hope you can get him turned around naturally. He shouldn't be causing you trouble just YET! ;)
QOTD re: who's still working -- me! My plan is to work right up to 1/19/07. I am taking Monday the 22nd off (hoping to schedule a pedicure and prenatal massage and then enjoy some 1:1 quality time with my DD before her sibling arrives to shake things up. We're also going out for a nice dinner that night...which I fondly refer to as "The Last Supper" -- our last dinner as a family of 3 :D) and then Nugget will be here on the 23rd!
Has Tera checked in yet? I've been thinking of her and wondering how she is doing (and wondering what Baby Boy's name is too ;)) If you are out there, I hope all is well!
Got back from the OB and I am 1 cm and 75% effaced. I guess I don't even really know what this means. She did try to push me into scheduling an induction, which I firmly oppose. I doubt she'll let me go past 41 weeks, but really, what can she do? Come to my house and drag me to the hospital??
I had a really defined and strong contraction last night at around 3am and I thought for sure that today would be the day. I guess not, though. :rolleyes:
Jan. 05 and Oct. 06 mommy delurking for a minute.
wine-o-girlie - I had a posterior baby with back labor and still went natural. My labor was about 6 hours with an hour of pushing. If you do have back labor, get your DH or labor coach to apply pressure to your back ... it helps a lot. I'd lean against something, and DH would push on the curve of my lower back.
Back labor sort of sucked, but I honestly didn't think it was as bad as everyone made it out to be. At the very end, the nurses had me get on my hands and knees for transition because the baby was trying to spin, and that hurt like h*ll, but she did turn. Don't get too depressed, because it's totally possible to still go natural. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for your support! Glad to hear I am not the only bitchy one! ;)
Woohoo, more babies!!!! :D Mag, I am super jealous you are already 3 cm. Wow, who thought you would ever hear a sentence like that?
I am in a much better mood today. My good mood today is greatly enhanced by the fact that we are going out to dinner tonight at one of my favorite restaurants with some friends! It is this fabulous Italian restaurant in DC that has an actual D.O.C. letter from the Italian government "certifying" that they use Italian ingredients and prepare things in an authentic Italian way. I plan to eat my weight in suppli, polpettine, and wood fired pizza with prosciotto and, and, and I am going to say "screw it" and have a glass of Prosecco. :D How sad that food is what makes me happy these days? :o
I did a hands and knees session last night and plan to do tons of that this weekend. I also painted a second coat on the new bathroom and a first coat on the stairwell of our newly finished basement. We also put sealer on some travertine tiles that we will be intstalling in the bathroom on Friday night. I gotta be on hands and knees a lot, so why not just tile the floor while I'm at it? ;) The electrician is coming back on Tuesday to put up the fixtures and the carpet is being installed on Thursday. Woohoo for progress! We have TONS of paint touch-ups to do but it's coming along. The carpenter installed the doors and baseboards this week and that was huge. Maybe all of the crap in the formal living room and dining room will be able to return to the basement before the baby comes afterall!!
Hope everyone is doing well and I can't wait to see more babies!
Woohoo for those of you who are making progress!!!
Had my weekly appointment today and the dreaded internal (performed by none other than Dr. Rough himself :( ). He says my cervix is closed tight as a drum and very thick, so no dilation or effacement to speak of at all. I was not surprised. This is pretty much exactly what happened when I was pregnant with DD - nothing happened. In some ways it is slightly disappointing to be reminded yet again that my body has no idea what to do and isn't doing what it's "supposed" to be doing, but in other ways I am glad that nothing is happening because it makes it so much easier to justify the scheduled c-section. Not that I had any doubts about the c/s (remember, I consented to it and opted not to try for a VBAC) but the lack of any progress whatsoever (and the assumption/expectation that there won't be any progress in the next 1.5 weeks) is more or less confirmation that "yes, I most likely will need the c/s."
I have one more weekly appointment, which is also my pre-op appointment, on the 17th, and then the c/s on the 23rd. :eek:
Update ~ took the Tylenol PM last night. Whoever said it was suppose to make you sleepy is wrong. It didn't work for me. Finally around midnight/1 am I was able to go to sleep (and this was taking it around 9 or 10 pm). At 4 am I got awakened by DD. DH finally got up with her and they went to the recliner and rocked for a while (that's where I found them this morning when I heard DH's alarm going off for work). DD was still asleep then so I decided to go back and lay down until she got up.
It's all still there unfortunately so it's back to the drawing board once again. Last night my right leg popped in my pelvic area and been so wonderful to try to walk around on now. I'm actually hoping that my water does break with the snowstorm. It just won't be fun trying to get there but at least then I'll be out of my misery/uncomfortableness. I know it's not right to wish that though.
I can feel little ones head right where my c/s scar is and it is one that is MUCH lower than most due to how low DD was in the birth canal when she got stuck. His head isn't that far from coming out. The scar is very sore, tender to the touch, and painful and it hasn't been being this way. Little one also hasn't been moving much today. So all of that coupled with some major discharge (although it's white and not clear), still having the tightening in my back may mean we are going to head to the hospital again when DH gets home. I don't want to have to be sent back home and made to feel like we just went to be going (I got that feeling in my first pregnancy though it was at a different hospital).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ButterflyJen ~ Thanks. I'm not sure what to hope for either at this point. I do wish either the contractions in my back would pick up (become every 5 minutes), my water would break, or the pain/discomfort would go away. Something just so I'd feel better and not be such a grouch.

Zhanna ~ Glad to hear that he's off the oxygen! I hope that he can start eating tomorrow. Fingers crossed that happens.

RayNJay ~ Hope your little one arrives soon. Glad to hear that you aren't uncomfortable yet. Wish I could say the same. Hope the cold goes away soon.

Julie ~ It did allow me to get some sleep but the discomfort/pain is still here with some new ones. :(

WinterBiscuit ~ Thanks. It is...I'm just not sure whether to hope for labor or hope that the discomfort leaves. I just keep thinking that it's 2 more weeks and I pray that I don't suffer this bad until then. We may ask to have the date moved up to next week if nothing happens in the meantime. I hate to do that but my SIL said that her OB took both of her youngest two at 37 wks (by c/s and DH and I didn't even know that. We always thought that they were all born vaginally. I think it had to do the fact that her first was stillborn and they didn't want her to go that long again. She said she never felt anything like this with hers). I may be venting a lot if nothing happens and they don't agree to do something before the 25th.

mag ~ Congrats on being 3 cm already!

Margaret; hooray for 3cm!

Robyn: When your cervix is effaced, it's thinning out, which makes it easier for you to dilate. It's a good thing. ;)

WB; The helper is so nice. We only hired her for 3 months, but help is help! Sorry you had your internal w/ Dr. Rough. Ughh.

wine_o:Glad you're feeling better today! Enjoy your dinner. Yuummy..

Meri: Wishing you some relief from the pain. Take it easy.

My NST went well. HB is strong and baby is moving around. Fluid levels are fine, so I think we'll make it until Wednesday. I'm so glad DH has a 3 day weekend!

Checking in with an update - baby Joseph is doing wonderfully and is going home on Sunday! I have been breastfeeding all day and my milk is starting to come in I think! I absolutely love holding him and looking at him, even if he is just sleeping - I never knew I could be such a mush! :)

I am typing this on my husband's Blackberry, so doing individual SO's will take too long, but - I have been reading along and I wish best of luck to everyone making progress! Can't wait to see who delivers the next baby! :)

that's wonderful Zhanna!

I had my first internal yesterday-- I'm 38w6d today and I'm 50% effaced, baby is at -2 station and I'm not dialiated at all yet. But honestly I figured I'd go a bit late and the effacement is promising. They won't start talking induction until I'm a week late and even then it's not a for sure thing. So hopefully I'll continue to thin out, start to dialiate and things will get moving next week.

Of course I have a TERRIBLE cold and I've been on the sofa the past two days. I'm pretty miserable. I'm still working too, and it's been hard to get everything done while trying to recover from this virus.

My shining star in the sky right now? We hired a MAID! They start on Tuesday and honestly, I hope to keep them around for forever. I work full time (from home a lot but still) and I just can't keep up with the housework. I think this will help me feel a little more ready for the baby.

I'm FINALLY checking in. We are all doing wonderful, it's just a bit time consuming taking care of the little one so I'm finally getting time to post.

Yes, we had the first official BOY! I'd like to introduce you all to Carter Lloyd (Lloyd is after FIL). He was born at 7:08 pm on 1/8 and was 6lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long. He has long legs and "big" feet and what I think is the most adorable face.

I'll post the entire birth story later, but we did get the vaginal birth I wanted. The Cervadil didn't work, but the Pitocin did. It kicked my body into gear and I only had two practice pushes with the nurse and two quick pushes when the doc arrived. I did have some tearing due to the quick delivery and the recovery is harder than I imagined. Tolerable, yet painful. I have really bad hemmorhoids that are making matters worse.

My milk seems to have come in - I think we are having a latch issue because he's been pretty gassy the past two nights. His stomach is making lots of noises. I think he's taking in air and that's my problem, I'm on the larger size in the booby department so I have to depress my boob around his nose and I think that's what's causing the gas. I'm going to the pediatrician for his first appt on Monday and then I'll stop by the lactation office for some questions.

Here's a pic of our blessed baby boy...

And one of him and DH ...

No time for personal shout outs - but congrats to all the new mommies and babies. I'm hoping to get into a routine soon and I'll have more computer time ...

Congrats, Zhanna! yay for mama milk and for Joseph coming home on Sunday! :)

Congrats, Tera! And welcome to Carter Lloyd! He is absolutely adorable. I'm so glad you got your vaginal birth; here's hoping recovery is better by the day.

NYLACHI - I'm so so jealous of your maid. ;) Woo hoo for that!

WB - sorry about Dr Rough, but it is kind of good confirmation that the C-section would be necessary anyway. :( I guess, huh? Hard to hear though, I'm sure.

Holy man, Margaret! You go!!

Not much to update on here. Had my appt. this morning and I am GBS+, so I'd need the IV during labor...but I'd need it anyway, since I'm attempting a VBAC (just in case, they want the IV hookup ready and waiting in case something goes wrong). I also need to call/come in to the hospital as soon as my water breaks/as soon as I realize I'm in labor. They have to monitor me continuously in case something would go wrong, so I won't get to labor at home at all. :( Kind of bummed about that, but oh well, that's what was in the cards for us this time, right?

And WOW am I superbitch lately. Hooo boy, watch out! I'm just so freaking crabby and ready for Peanut to just come out already!!

Congrats Tera! Carter is adorable. I'm sorry you are having a rough delivery- I had a hard time recovering after DD (she was a vacuum delivery which caused some hoo-ha damage) but it will get better. Take the meds and don't try to be superwoman!! Definitely see the LC because it could very well be positioning but also you might have an overactive letdown (lots of milk that could be overwhelming Carter). That's something very easy to deal with and fix so I hope that you get some good tips! Kellymom.com is also a fabulous resource!

ButterflyJen- I know, I can't believe it! I was 4cm when I went to the hospital in labor last time, so it's weird to think I'm at 3 right now with no signs of labor. I'm really hoping to hold out until at least early next week because we are in the beginnings of a huge ice storm here and I don't want to go out in it! I've had no contractions other than B-H ones so I'm not feeling like it could happen any second now anyways. I need to get my hospital bag packed, though! I really hope you get to have your VBAC!!!

NYLACHI We had our cleaning lady start yesterday too, and I'm in love! I can't believe I didn't get one earlier. She will be coming weekly for at least the next few months, but I hope forever! It's so nice to have a clean house and not be the one to have to do it. I can definitely maintain the tidiness myself and I do the laundry and vacuum a few times a week as well (we have 2 big shedding dogs here). But to know someone is going to come do the gross stuff-like the bathrooms- that I hate to do, it is just so nice! Hope you get to keep yours for a long time! I was a fingertip dilated with DD from 36-40w until I went into labor with her at 40w4d. So no worries, baby will come out when they are ready! Seriously, go out to a bunch of restaurants right now while you still can!! And see a movie!! I can't remember the last time DH and I saw a movie together...really, I can't!

zhanna Yahoo for Phillip coming home this weekend!! I'm so glad bfing is going well considering he is in the special care nursery. I hope it continues to do so!! Keep it up mama!

Julie Enjoy your last weekend as a 3some!! Relax and let your DH take care of DS!!

usafwife I hope you are doing okay, please keep us updated!! This pregnancy has not been easy on you, but it will be worth it!!

Well, as I said, we are about to have some horrendous weather here over the weekend- we don't plan on leaving the house until Monday or maybe even Tuesday. I went out this morning to get gas but never made it to the supermarket because the weather was getting so bad and it's so bitter cold out so DD and I came home. DH got sent home from work at 10 am too. So we'll be eating a bunch of random stuff this weekend since I couldn't restock too much! I think we'll use the fireplace for the first time this season tonight too! It's like 15 degrees here right now which is crazy because yesterday afternoon it was 70! :eek:

Tera - so glad you checked in! He is just gorgeous. Carter was one of our top 2 name choices ... it would have been funny if we had two little Carters in here. :)

Zhanna - So glad that Joseph is doing better and will be home soon. You must be so relieved and excited!

NYALCHI - sorry you are feeling sick but I'm sure that housekeeper will help you feel a lot better. ;) I don't know what I ever did before hiring one ... it is SO nice ... you will love it!

Margaret - I think your weather is headed our way, although hopefully we won't get it as bad. I get so bored when these ice storms come ... but the TV news is pretty entertaining with how much they love to freak out about what's happening! Just sit tight and stay off the road because no one knows how to drive in weather up there! Enjoy using your fireplace. :)

Update ~ After DH got home tonight I was just too uncomfortable so we decided to go to the hospital. I knew what they were going to say but I was hoping they would give me some relief. One of the nurses (or whoever DH spoke with) basically hung up the phone on him when he told them who my doctor was. So he called back and spoke with someone else, told them what was going on, and they said to come on out. We didn't want to risk getting in an accident with how bad the roads are (we have several inches of sleet. It's been doing a combination of freezing rain and sleet all day long and still coming down). Plus that is what the nurse at my OB's office told us to do (go to the hospital here because they didn't want us getting in a wreck either).

As we were getting ready to go to the hospital I have the worst pain in my groin area. It was worse than the contractions I felt with DD during her labor. We get there and I get checked. I've progressed a little further than I was on Monday (so more than a 2), the doctor on call said that I'm losing my mucus plug, cervix is VERY SOFT, membranes still intact, and that the groin pain is most likely an inflammation to the muscle/liagment. She said that should my water break and it gush out or I start having regular contractions to come back immediately, not to even attempt to drive to the other hospital with the roads like this. Most importnatly she gave me a script for something for the pain (plus some since all the pharmacies were already closed due to the conditions). So hopefully that means I'll get some much needed rest tonight.

Tera ~ Congratulations on your little one's arrival! Sorry that the recovering is more painful than you figured on. I'll never forget walking or getting out of bed the first time following DD's birth. I wasn't quite expecting it to be as painful as it was. He's precious!!

WB ~ I can't say that I'm really looking forward to my scheduled c/s either. I often wonder if this little one had been my first if things would have went differently and I wouldn't have ended up with a c/s. After not dilating until once my water broke with DD I sort of figured on the same thing happening with this one. I'm sort of bummed about not even having the option of trying for a VBAC.

ButterflyJen ~ I hope the VBAC is successful. I too have to have the abx again. I asked about it at my last appt just to be sure. OB said that since it's a c/s I'd have the abx anyway.

Mag ~ Thanks. See my update above. I know it's all going to be worth it in the end. DH and I have sort of talked about this being our last due to everything. If not, we definitely are going to be waiting until DS is closer to 2 before even really thinking about it again. Sounds like you are getting the same storm we are. It's been doing a combination of freezing rain and sleet all day. And it's showing no signs of letting up. Suppose to be like this until late Sunday/early Monday. We already have several inches of sleet on the ground. I hope the ice stays away. I'd rather not have to deal with power outages right now.

meri: Glad the hospital gave you something for the pain. I hope you got some much needed rest.

Margaret: That weather is crazy! We're not getting any ice in the mid-atlantic, but the weather has been freakishly warm and now a mild cold snap. Have fun making meals w/ what you have in stock! :p Stay warm.

Jen: Sorry you won't get to labor at home, but I'm sure you'll do great!

NYLACHI: I hope the cold goes away soon! Yuck. I'm pretty congested, but I know it's pg related and once this little man is on the outside, i should be able to breathe again. :)

I think my body is on "the every other night, we'll sleep" cycle. :rolleyes: I guess when I don't sleep one night, I'm so exhausted I have to sleep the next. I'm such a horrible sleeper to begin with. I'm seriously considering sleeping in the nursery w/ the baby instead of putting him in the bassinet in our room. I think we might all sleep better. DH snores and that wakes me to begin with. Plus, he gets up early for work..blah, blah...just thinking outloud. Have a great weekend. Those of you dealing w/ the ice, be safe.

Join me in the beyotch club. I'm wanting this baby to come out - now! I've even resorted to DTD (much to my husband's happiness) :) She's dropped so I'm not worried about getting baby in the right position, I just need these Braxton Hicks to turn in to the real thing.

Count me in the beyotch club too. Stupid stuff has frustrated me the last couple days. Luckily Friday was my last day of work.

So my birthday is next week, and mom is going to get me a convertible car seat. I finally got her convinced to spring for a Boulevard for DH's car, which we drive the most. They are on sale at Albee's for cheaper than the Marathon and it matches his car. Hooray! While we were on the subject, I suggested a cheaper seat for her car (the Fisher Price one made by Britax), and she proceeded to remind me that the baby will ride with her more than me since she is daycare, so why was a seat that is good enough for her car not good enough for mine? Besides the fact that this makes me incredibly sad, I wanted to scream "Because I want it and its my birthday!" and throw a temper tantrum, but I managed to keep it together. She is right, which just keeps pissing me off. I need to have this baby so I can start being nice and patient again.

Congrats to all those who brought their babies home in the last couple days. Joseph is adorable and I'm sure we'll have more announcements before long. No signs here, though I have just felt tired and whiny all day. We even ate Mexican for lunch to try and stir things up. No luck...just hurty gas that then ticked the baby off and made her move around a lot and push on the hurty places. I have felt lots of twinges and pains "down there" the last couple days, but nothing regular and it just feels like someone is cutting my cervix out for about 10 seconds at a time. I go to the doc in the morning for my first internal. If there is no progress, I'm going to be crushed.

Good luck everyone!

I've had a TON of contractions since Friday night. I actually thought that last night we'd be making a trip to the hospital, they were that bad and coming very regularly. They stopped coming quite so frequently but when they do happen they are rather painful. I think he's dropped even further as I've spent most of the day in bed (and when I say most I mean everything except for the past hour) because sitting is just too painful. I really don't think I'm making it to next week. I've had tons of cervical jabs/pains/stabs that are VERY painful. They are so different than I had with DD (felt more like a finger scrapping my cervix). When I have these pains I have to use my lamaze breathing/techniques until they pass.

Count me as being rather irritable as well. DH said he's ready for little one to come out so he can have his loving wife back. I can't say as I blame him either. I'm ready as well. As much as I wanted to be 29 when this little one arrived I don't think that's going to be the case. I think I'm going to be a few days shy of that. If exhaustation is a sign of labor then I'm not far off. I spent yesterday throwing up for a good portion of 2 hours as well.

We are now starting to get freezing rain and I can't say that I'm liking it. The lights have already flickered a couple of times.

Zhanna ~ Congrats on little one's homecoming tomorrow! I'm so happy for you.

Oh yes - definintely count me in the bitch club. UGH - Today has been the WORST. DH really pissed me off and I went on a total rampage - throwing things and slamming doors. It really wasn't a very pretty morning/afternoon in my house. On a good note, I guess I did what you could call "nesting with a vengeance". I was so angry I threw a bunch of stuff away - some of which I know I will regret very soon, but oh well. I hardly looked through it. I just saw the stack of crap and hucked it. :rolleyes:

Zhanna-Joseph is adorable as well! I'm so glad he's coming home tomorrow! You must be so relieved/excited!!

I was sure there'd be at least one other baby born this weekend while I was off the computer! But, I guess not ;)

Not much to report here. Had my weekly dr appt on Friday. Baby looks good on the NST. Dr keeps saying baby is "BIG". Whatever. DS was 8lbs 6oz, so I'm assuming it'll be around there, but still under 9lbs! Not that it matters since I'm having the c-section.

Exciting weekend. I had a "last hurrah" day with friends on Saturday. I met my mom so she and my dad could take the kids for the day/evening. My friends at I made freezable dinners at www.maindishkitchen.com It was so much fun! I highly recommend it to anyone! It was great fun and now I have 12 meals in the freezer for when the baby comes home. And my friends, the lovely ladies that they are, ended up paying for my meals. TOTALLY unexpected, but greatly appreciated. So that was kind of a psuedo shower for me. Then we had lunch at a great mexican place, www.abuelos.com with tons of girl chatting. It was so nice to not have to worry about the kids or anything for a few hours. We also stopped at Old Navy to do some clearance shopping as they had an add'l 50% off. I scored a bunch of stuff for Greydon and Briley and only spent $35! Then I headed home for a nap :) It was an exhausting morning/afternoon. After nap, my DH and I headed out for our "last hurrah" dinner at www.texasroadhouse.com Hands down the best dinner I've ever had. Seriously. The rolls are to DIE for! If there's one in your area and you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it!!
Today, we met my mom and dad to pick up the kids and we pretty much vegged around the house all day.

I can't believe I have one week left and this little munchkin will be here. Must.work.on.names...
