I know it sounds silly, but I am looking for ideas to flavor warm milk. Usually I hate milk, unless it is in a latte. I think that it has something to do with the way it feels in my mouth. We got an espresso machine for Christmas, and the steamed milk is not too bad, just very bland. I'd appreciate any ideas anyone has to jazz it up.

What about the flavor syrups you can get at Starbucks or other coffee shops?

I've never tried this hot, but my sister and I used to put vanilla extract in cold milk when we were young because we didn't like it plain (and our Mom had a moral stance against daily chocolate milk or something).
Vanilla syrup. They sell vanilla "steamers" at starbucks (basically steamed milk with a shot of their vanilla syrup), and they're really tastey! I bet almond or hazelnut would be good, too.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I'll have to stop at Starbucks on my way home and buy some of those flavored syrups. The Hazelnut sounds especially yummy...maybe I'll make chocolate hazelnut.
Don't buy them at Starbucks, you'll pay waaay too much. Try buying them at Cost Plus - the most you'll pay per bottle is $6.

Rather than buy syrups I just use extracts and a bit of sugar.
Well, dehydrated organic cane juice...but you KWIM. or sometimes honey or real maple syrup.
I love steamers with either vanilla (used to make it back in my early, early days of WW), or with hazelnut syrup (again, before the syrup, I used extract and a sweetener packet).
FWIW, coffee syrups are even less if you get them at Marshall's or TJ Maxx.

I like to flavor hot milk with flavored creamers. I partcularly like the Coffee Mate brand creamers, especially the Christmas-y ones, like gingerbread.

I've enjoyed the gingerbread Coffee Mate with a candy cane to stir!

These all sound so good. I found some syrups at my grocery store and picked up vanilla and hazelnut. A woman I work with recommended sweetening with honey and cinamin and that sounds really good too. I can't wait to try one of the suggestions after dinner.

I tried my first steamed milk. I flavored it with vanilla syrup and topped it with some ground cinammin and nutmeg. It tastes like cinammin ice cream. Who knew milk could taste so good.

If you like tea and spices, try Republic of Tea Chai concentrate. I just had some tonight, and it's very good. It's a syrup/liquid that you mix into the milk.
