Hi there,
I have a big family outdoor party to go to, probably 30 people. Does anyone have any good dessert ideas? I don't want to do the standard brownie tray.
thanks

One thing that I love at outdoor picnics are cupcakes. I know it's very general, but they are easy to pick up and eat, you don't need a plate or flatware, and they'll go quick. :)

One that I make quite a bit that is easy and healthy and good..
tear a premade angel food cake into peices and layer in the bottom of 13x9 pan.
add a layer of vanilla pudding ( I make the sugar free jello instant kind w/ skim milk, so actually not bad for you)
layer bananas & sliced strawberries
cover with a layer of cool whip (again, I use the fat free kind).
Then you can top with a drizzle of chocolate sauce or I sometimes freeze & crumble skor candy bars on top. Or when I want to be healthy, I jsut put a few decorative strawberry slices on top.
It's best if you make it right before you need it though...esp if you use strawberries.

This was in the newspaper yesterday - especially nice since it's summer and you don't have to turn on the oven. :)
QUICK KEY LIME PIE
MAKES 8 SERVINGS
1/3 cup Key lime juice
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (9-inch) prepared graham cracker pie crust

This is so easy and so yummy. I have no idea what it's called and I don't have a recipe written down, but it's a snap. You can use a trifle dish if you have one, but I've done it in a bowl before.
Bake a tray of brownies, or buy them if you want. It doesn't really matter. Also, buy or make some chocolate pudding. I usually get the kind you can get in tubs in the dairy aisle near the cookie dough. Get a couple tubs of cool whip (or make your own whipped cream) and leave them out to thaw and a package of full size peanut butter cups.
Cut the peanut butter cups into quarters and cut the brownies into small squares. Put a layer of brownies on the bottom of the bowl/dish, then a layer of pudding, then a layer of cool whip (or whipped cream) and then sprinkle on some of the peanut butter cup pieces. Repeat until your dish is filled and you have a layer of cool whip on top with some more peanut butter cup pieces for garnish.
Really, this is so good and you can mix it up a million ways.

We call this 'brownie trifle', but in some circles it is called 'better than sex cake' - though there is another dessert that is more cake-y that is also called that, so it gets quite confusing. I was going to post the same recipe.
I see the OP has gone another way, but a really simple one is cream cheese chocolate chip cookie bars.

SUPER easy recipe, and it's light and summery...perfect for outdoors or a picnic IMO!!
Pineapple Angel Food Cake:
1 box angel food cake mix
1 20 oz. can crushed pineapple in ITS OWN JUICE
Preheat oven to 350F
Blend cake mix & pineapple. Pour into bundt pan, bake for approx 35 min, until top is brown and cracking, cake is done when it's firm to the touch.( NOT jiggly. :o)
SOO Delicious and one of my faves!! Our families love it so much, I just made 2 for my baby shower this weekend! I think when I found this online I saw that it was a Weight Watchers recipe but I can't remember the points or anything.

Better than sex cake...yeah, I can see that. :D I really think there's about a million versions of this same thing floating around. I stole it from someone at my last job.
